It was just one of those nights, you know? One where everything seemed to be working against them. There had been more monsters out than normal and by the time the group had made it half way through patrol, Ida had already used up her attacks and was feeling exhausted from it. The dang things had been harder to dust this go around, or she would have saved her magic for something more substantial... like a chaos agent, but there had really been no choice. As much as she hated to admit it, it might be time to call it a night.
Pacing over to the fountain in the park, Ida flopped down on the bench around it with a sigh. "I need a little break, I'm worn out..." She said as she pushed her scarf down so she could rub the back of her neck, feeling over warm even in her small fuku with its bare arms.ChibiGingi Quoting you in case you wanna join us!

"There seems to definitely be more of those things than normal" Athene agreed as he flopped down on the other end of the bench that Ida was one, the movement setting the strings of bronze beads adorning the end of his sash to move against each other in clack-clack sounds. Athene's own senshi outfit was relatively light-weight material-wise, which meant that he tended to shiver while out on patrol in the winter months, although summer wasn't usually too bad. It had been a day when the youma had seemed to just keep coming though leaving Athene wishing that he'd let his habit of picking up a drink prior to starting out on patrol carry over once the months got warmer - he could have done with a drink right now - preferably one of those snow cone type ones which were all ice and flavoured syrup. In fact one of those would be pretty awesome right about now.

One of the benefits of being an Eternal Senshi was that she felt as though she had a lot of energy built up within her and there was always a lot more where that came from. Tsui prided herself in her energetic nature and she enjoyed a good fight from time to time, maybe a little more than anyone really should have. Whereas her friends seemed to be growing tired of the recent encounters, Tsui was doing her best to keep their fighting spirits up, even though she wasn't willing to admit that she, too, was beginning to grow suspicious of the recent amount of youma activity in Destiny City. She hid this concern from them, though, feeling as though the two of them needed someone strong and fearless to help lift the mood, and she stood before them, ignoring the sweat that dampened her body and her own weary muscles to strike a gallant pose. Her furry hands were balled into fists and rested on her hip, the scars at her hip more noticeable than ever now that her tiger pelt was dropping from sweat and perspiration. "Well, maybe youma just really like the summer seasons. Look at the bright side, though, at least they're not always attacking during the day!" For the most part. She didn't want to think about how bad a fight with a youma would go, in the middle of the day, with an unforgiving sun beating down on them. Even the youma weren't willing to make their move during the hottest hours of the day, but even at night, the heat was a little unbearable, even was Tsui. She didn't think ill of her comrades for wanting to take a breather, though, and the only reason why she didn't take a seat was because she was feeling the start of a charlie horse coming and hoped to combat it by stretching out her muscles. She definitely didn't drink enough water before setting out today, but she wasn't willing to let that or any other sign of weakness show. Her friends needed her to be strong. "Maybe we should start packing water bottles. Find a way to make them not disappear every time we transform."

"Well what do we have here?"
The Eternal Senshi of Danger grinned as he approached the trio, tilting his head to the side. He recognized them all from various memories, which meant it was okay for him to act like a brat around them and get away with it. Because that was what they were expecting of him, and nothing better. But he did have better in him.
He knew that. He had known that for a very long time now, though he refused to admit it. He watched the trio, noting that they all looked tired, and wondered what they had been up to. Maybe he had been following them at too great a distance. They were getting all the fun youma to dust, and he was missing all the battles: he was still at the start of his patrol, basically, and hadn't gotten anything done.
He folded his arms over his chest and his grin became a little more friendly, a little less challenging.
"You guys out here having some fun? Looks like you've taken on the whole Negaverse on your own. What's going on?" He realized that he did not dislike any of them, and he wondered if he really was just getting soft in his 'old age' as a senshi. He'd been at this too long, maybe, but that wasn't enough of a thought to make him want to stop.

While it could have been embarrassing to compare her tiredness with Tsui's boundless energy, Ida simply chalked it up to being one level below her comrades. It was to be expected that she would tire faster than they would, and unlike some other senshi, using up all of her attacks was physically draining.
The flower senshi laughed softly as Tsui proposed the youma liking summer and she shrugged lightly, leaving her curling brown hair free for the moment while her neck cooled.
"I don't know, maybe it's the alignment of the planets or time of the month. At least we're out here taking care of them. Water bottles sound like a good idea though. I bet they wouldn't disappear if we weren't touching them when we powered up..." Kicking her booted feet as her heels grazed the concrete, Ida took the break from patroling to try and recover some of her flagging energy. "Just give me a few moments and I'll totally be ready to go again... Sans attacks, though, two is my limit."
It was a bit of a burden sometimes, only having a two part attack... She rarely used both on the chance she would need one for an emergency, which effectively made it a one-shot ability. Oh well... Not much she could really do about it. And if two attacks proved to not be enough, she felt confident she had friends who would be there to bail her out...
A smarmy remark in a familiar voice pulled the teen's head around and a bright, happy smile spread across her face.
"Chaonis!" Ida greeted him as she bounced to her feet, suddenly feeling far more energetic. "What are you doing out here?" That was probably a stupid question since the obvious answer was patrolling, just like they were.
"Um... We're just doing the patrol thing, teaming up to kick youma butt." She couldn't help a giggle at her own bluster, making a show of flexing her slender arms so show (very) lean muscle. She was winning no strong man contests, but cest le vie.

"Water sounds good" Athene said with a nod as he agreed quietly with Tsui's statement. Although his sweet tooth would have preferred the snow cone "And Ida's right - as long as we're not touching the water bottles when we power up they should be fine." He smiled slightly as he admitted "I'm always buying hot drinks to carry out on patrol during the colder months" his voice turned slightly rueful as he added "This outfit's not exactly cut out for winter." Any more than Tsui's outfit was cut out for the blazing hot days they'd been having - at least not to Athene's way of thinking. Although his friend seemed to be coping well in spite of the outfit - as energetic as ever. Athene quirked another smile at Ida's mention that the increase of youma could be down to the time of month. "Well I'm glad they're mostly picking the nights to crawl out and cause trouble." Ever since his move to Destiny City, the summers had ended up being a time where his civilian counterpart had to spend each morning slathering on the highest factor sun protection - at least if he didn't want to end up resembling a boiled lobster. His looked over as a voice called out to them, recognising the eternal senshi heading their way. Their paths had only crossed a couple of times, but that plastic armour was pretty distinctive - as was the caution tape. "No Negaverse, just youma" he said quietly at Chaonis' question. Make that lots and lots of youma. It seemed that Ida recognised Chaonis too, at least if her greeting to him was anything to go by.

"So, note to self, set water bottles down, then power up! I think that's simple enough for me to remember," Tsui said, poking her tongue out and scratching the back of her head when the sweat made her scalp itchy. This distracted her somewhat from the presence that approached them, and she pretended not to be startled when Chaonis seemed to appear from no where. She crossed her arms and flashed the Eternal a rather cheeky grin, as she chided him, "Sorry, but I learned my lesson not too long ago, remember? I have no intention of making a bigger fool of myself than usual, thank you very much!" Despite her little chide, it was out of mirth and a still slightly damaged pride that made her say that. Considering the last time she saw Chaonis, Painite had half of her arm inside of her chest and poor Ida was in harm's way because of that, this was a much better reunion with Chaonis, and it showed in her grin. She didn't give him quite as warm a welcome as Ida had, but that didn't make her any less pleased to see him. "Yeah, seems that the officers have a bit more common sense than their youma. Even they seem to be avoiding the heat. Or they feel the likes of the PSSG and simply know to stay away."

Chaonis looked the crew over. They seemed to be very worn from their fights so far, and he was still a bit jealous about that. If only because he had not found anything worth spending any time or effort on just yet, which was a pain in his butt. He was only out here to beat something up, and he had nothing to fight. He imagined that blaming it on them was probably fair, if they had been on the same path as him and simply wiped out all the youma up until this point.
He imagined the chances of that were pretty low, but still.
Folding his arms over his chest, he regarded Ida with some sort of patience. The closest he had to it, anyway, grinning. He looked at Athene and nodded, and then arched an eyebrow at Tsui.
"The PSSG huh?"
It sounded like a trading card game, or something like that. He was not the best at keeping up with names and titles, so he just stared hard at them, one to the next, and waited for someone to explain it to him. He remembered Ida had told him just a second ago that they had been teaming up to fight youma, but he didn't get the name.

The question about the name made Ida blush and she fussed with her scarf as she dropped her eyes. Tugging it back up to cover her rich brown hair, she gently scuffed the toe of her boot on the ground.
"It's the name of our team. I... Kinda thought I told you about it, but I probably forgot like and idiot. PSSG stands for 'Painite Survivor Support Group'. It was kind of a joke, but the name stuck." Her hair straight, the girl dropped her arms behind her and clasped her hands. "Athene came up with the idea of us starting up a team to help train new senshi, and knights, how to fight and teach them about... Well, everything they should know so they don't get themselves killed."
The thought was a sobering one and it helped calm some of her awkwardness, her slender body relaxing. They were doing the right thing and any time she needed a reminder of that, all she had to do was feel her own scar, or look at Tsui's. Athene's were the internal kind, but no less painful for that. Being part of a team though... It was more than just for the newbies. It had brought her closer to these two wonderful people and given her a sense of purpose she'd never had.
"We do a lot of patroling too, though, like tonight."

Athene nodded as Ida explained the name, flushing slightly as his name was mentioned. "It's pretty much as Ida explained" he said, his quiet voice solemn. "I think a lot of us had to stumble-learn our way through being a senshi, I don't want any new senshi or knights to have to do the same." He absently tugged on the braided bit of his hair as he continued "And I don't want to see any more dead senshi or knights." Not again. Not on his watch - even now the death of the senshi that had saved his life still weighed heavily on Athene, but helping out those who were new made him feel he was paying back some of the debt. It wasn't a one person job though, not even a three person job - there were just too many senshi and knights out there - they were doing what they could though.

"Don't let the name fool you, though," Tsui added, flashing her friends a confident smile in lieu of Athene's comment. She had her own failures to keep track of, and if anything, she used that as fuel, as motivation. "It's not just Painite's that's the problem now, though she's still a pretty big one." Her mind immediately jumped to the Carnival, and Tsui didn't want to admit how ashamed of herself that she was. To think that they were ambushed again, and so easily... her smile faded slightly, but if anything, she seemed more determined, and the way she crossed her arms made it clear that she wasn't willing to let such an event happen again, not if she could help it. "There's a lot of officers that are willing to follow in her footsteps, that use the excuse that they're doing what's good for the citizens and city, but I don't buy that. And if the city does after the Carnival, then they're just stupid." Maybe too much of that anger reflected in her tone, but she wasn't the type to hold back her punches, not for anything or anyone. "I'm sick of us being so unorganized and being caught with our britches down, and I know I'm not the only one. Athene, Ida and I decided we're just not going to put up with it anymore." She then looked to Chaonis, and her curiosity was clear as the scars at her waist. "What about you? Still kicking a**?"

Chaonis arched an eyebrow, then nodded his head. It sounded a lot like what he did, on his own, though they probably had more luck with it than he did because they were a team. He had never been much for them, teams, but he was seeing more and more that they were useful. Newbie senshi needed all the help they could get, really.
And these three seemed to have a handle on what they were doing, but there was a common link here that they were so far lacking. He grinned and crossed his arms over his chest.
"So if you guys are out there trying to protect the newbie senshi from people like Painite and all those negas like her, and I've helped you guys with similar situations yourselves, then obviously you need me on your team, right? I'm always kicking a**, but everyone knows that. They keep harping at me about needing direction, though, and you guys have it figured out. Now I'm not saying I'm going to be your errand boy or anything like that, but, you know. I think we could come to an arrangement."
This was a big step for him, though it didn't seem like it. He was stubbornly a lone wolf, and had made many stands against being tied anywhere. Being responsible. Asking to be on their team flew in the face of that, and he was currently doing his best to pretend he was not aware of that.

"I think that's a wonderful idea!" Ida burst out, a beaming smile on her face. The idea was an exciting one, for multiple reasons. Chaonis was a strong fighter, something that could only benefit them I they got into a tough situation like at the carnival. He was also an eternal, another bonus to the group's over all strength. He wanted to help new orders and had the experience to be an asset. And probably best of all, he knew all of them, and was one of the few people Ida trusted completely. That wasn't to say she didn't feel that way about her team mates, because she did, but... There was something different when the person had saved your life multiple times. He was instinctively the first person she thought of when she was in trouble, and having him around lifted a weight off her shoulders.
So maybe her reasons weren't entirely unselfish, but so what? It would have been a good idea anyway. Turning to her team mates, she clasped her hands before her and rocked on her heels.
"What do you guys think? Can Chaonis join our team?"

Surprise had flickered briefly across Athene's face as he listened to Chaonis' words, not expecting the other to ask if he could join them - at least he thought that was what the other eternal was asking, albeit in a roundabout way. Ida spoke before he could say anything, enthusiasm in her voice, before turning to look at him and Tsui. "I have no objections" he said quietly and he honestly didn't - he thought what they were trying to do as the PSSG was important and the more people trying to help out the newbies the better - no he was more surprised than anything. Chaonis hadn't particularly struck him as the 'wanting to be on a team type' on the few occassions that their paths had crossed.

Tsui wasn't the type to hide her feelings, so when Chaonis asked to join the team, she allowed for him and the others to see her startled expression. It wasn't as though he wasn't welcomed to the group. On the contrary, he was more than welcomed, and she was surprised that he had shown interest first, given what she remembered about him. Still, it would have been stupid to decline someone that they not only knew and trusted, but was eager to join, and she was in full agreement. Ida agreed, Athene agreed, and Tsui knew that she certainly agreed. She waited until Athene had made his statement before making hers, and she welcomed Chaonis into the group was a good, old fashion slap to the back, only holding back slightly since she knew that her fellow Eternal could handle her strength. "Well, it looks pretty unanimous, I think! Welcome to the Painite Survivors Support Group, Chaonis, we're happy to have you!" She was willing to let him in, no questions asked, and she looked to her fellow members for their opinion. "What do you guys think? Do we need to have some kind of initiation? I'm not too keen on them, but I'm sure if we had one, Chaonis would pass with flying colors. He saved my butt and I think we all know that's no easy feat..."
