After the last failed attempt, Sam had promptly decided that using his jaws for his catches was probably a poor idea. Unfortunately, he was left with few alternatives. An egg would be easy enough to grab between his claws, but he feared he'd be more likely to crack it in his excitement. Especially with that last embarrassing display. So it was probably best if he found something else entirely to collect his treasures with. But what? Quite frankly, he didn't think anything on Ayr would be a great assist. So he'd fly... somewhere else to get something? A jar? No, that would break as easily as an egg. Besides, he had no way of obtaining such things short of terrorizing two-leggers. And frankly, he didn't have time for such a lengthy endeavor. Especially if he was going to fly off somewhere, and then fly back to Ayr. Crowell was learning patience now, the poor little thing.

Sam paced with an aggravated sigh. Maybe he could make something to carry the egg with. A bag of some sort. A net? A net! Yes, that was perfect! He could make a quick trip to Serenia's forest and find some vines and grass and such and tie a net together! It was brilliant! Prancing in his excitement, Sam turned and took flight.

Samael plotted on his way to Serenia. He'd never had to make a net before. But it didn't seem too challenging. He hoped. It wasn't too difficult to find enough materials for his net. Vines were plentiful enough, despite Sam trying to be selective about only taking the ones he thought would be long enough and able to withstand a little wear and tear. Satisfied with his small collection, he entangled the vines around himself and headed back to Ayr. The trip back was a bit more tiring, considering all he'd tried to do today. But he was determined not to rest until he'd captured one of those darn Dactyls!

Once he landed, he was careful to settle a safe distance away from the cliff, lest the creatures become nervous of his plotting. Thinking of his limited materials, Sam tied a preliminary knot with his teeth. A bit of the vine cut against his razor fangs, but it seemed strong enough. With a nod, he made a teeny testing net, careful to leave enough materials for alterations, if he found he needed them.

With a huff and a short, silent plea that he'd be able to return home with a new partner for Crowell, Samael set off toward the cliffs again. He wrapped the end of the netting carefully around his forearm, so that it could be released when he needed it most. More desperate than when he'd first started, he decided he probably didn't have to be too picky when choosing a nest. In fact, his best bet for a nest filled with an egg was probably one with a cluster of Dactyl's flying around. He'd just have to do his best to avoid them.

By now, he stood on top of the cliff, looking down at his target. There looked to be about ten Dactyls flying about. So, surely, one of the nests was filled with an egg or two. Taking a moment to mentally prepare himself, Sam dove down to them. Shrieks of surprise surrounded him, and most of the Dactyl's charged to meet him before he could reach the rest. Sam slashed violently at them, holding nothing back in his desperation. They clawed at him in retaliation, but the Drakein hardly wanted to stick around and play. Turning, his swiped his tail through the hoard, shooting down to the nest. He aggressively swatted at the females that stayed to protect the nest.

They scrambled away, though were suddenly eager to attack him. Sam slung his net down into the nest, and tried to avoid the attacks while carefully scooting an egg into his trap. Feeling a particularly painful peck, the brown Drakein abandoned his net and fell away from his target. When he looked back up, two of the Dactyls were tangled in his net, screeching pathetically as they tried to escape. He looked up sadly at them, but wasn't daring enough to brave the pecks trying to save them would earn him. Sighing, he limped away again, body aching from the poison spreading through him.
