Maua took in a deep breath, looking up at Shangwe with a smile. She had taken to staying in his den whenever she could, (though careful not to overstay her welcome,) thoroughly enjoying his company. She hadn't really made any other friends, but she was alright with that. Shangwe was a pleasure to be around, and being in the pride wasn't so lonely anymore. "I'm thinking of going out for a walk," she said quietly, stretching and standing up. "Would you care to join me?" The thought of going for a hunt crossed her mind, and she pondered on it for a bit. Maybe later. Her muscles were still sore from the hunting she did the day before. It would be nice to just go for a leisurely stroll around the lands they called home.

Shangwe sat in his den, pretty content with how things were going at that moment. He had a new friend, whom he enjoyed the company of very much, and he had been out hunting a lot more recently. He couldn't have asked for more, and he really didn't want to anyway. He smiled when Maua asked if he wanted to join her on a walk, nodding. "Of course! That sounds wonderful." She had been around his den a lot, and somehow, it still didn't feel like it was often enough. He liked being around her company, though he worried she still hadn't made many other friends. He wanted her to get out more. "Perhaps we'll find some more company to enjoy the day with us, too."

The lioness nodded, a smile still plastered across her face. When had she ever been this happy? Not since she could remember. "That would be nice. I'm sure you're getting sick of me being around all the time," she teased, flicking his nose with her tail. Truth be told, she did want to make more friends within her pride, but it wasn't very high on her priorities. Life was good now that she had a true home. Her thoughts flashed to her rogue friend, a cheetah she had met not long before joining the pride, and she silently wondered how the other cat was getting along. Last she knew, the cheetah was still travelling aimlessly. Her thoughts snapped back to reality rather quickly, however. She had something she wanted to talk to Shangwe about, and what better time than now?

“Don’t be silly,” laughed the male lightly, giving her a careful nudge, “I could never be sick of you being around all the time. I just think it would be nice to see you sharing that pretty smile of yours.” He watched her a moment, before affirming his comment with a safely nod. “yes, I feel very selfish keeping such a wonderful smile all to myself, you know?’ It wasn’t like he would have hated it to have her all to himself, but he wanted to think of her best interest, too. It wouldn’t make him a very good lion if he only thought of his own happiness. As they walked, he could tell that she seemed to have a lot on her mind. He tilted his head slightly, watching her with a questioning expression. “Are you alright?’ he asked gently, “you seem like you’ve got a lot on your mind.”

"Oh, I'm fine!" she chirped, shooting him another smile. A bit nervous, if anything, but he didn't need to know that. "I do have... something, I'd like to talk about, though."Taking in a deep, somewhat shaky breath, she began. "When I joined this pride, I had this idea of everyone being extremely welcoming and treating me like family. When that didn't happen, understandably, since I was an outsider essentially, I'll admit that it shook my confidence a bit. No one really even tried to approach me."She smiled over at the male before continuing. "But then you did, and it might have been the best moment of my life so far." Her voice grew quieter. "You mean a lot to me, Shangwe." Immediately, her tone picked up and returned to its original volume. "Since then, I've made it a goal to talk to others in the pride. I know you worry about me, but I haven't felt alone since that day you and I met," she finished, giving him her signature large smile. "I just... I just wanted you to know that."

Shangwe listened, and frowned. He knew his home to be that welcoming, friendly place she had been looking for, and he found himself sad to hear that he hadn't managed to show her that kind of place. That she hadn't been able to see it on her own, either. While he was glad to hear that he, personally, had made a good impression, he still wished his pride as a whole had been more welcoming. But he supposed there was a lot going on with the new heir. It was likely everyone was feeling edgy towards outsiders, especially now. He smiled as she continued, feeling very happy to know that he meant something to her. "I'm glad," he admitted with a chuckle, "because you mean a lot to me, too. There's no one I would rather spend my time with, you know." He looked at her, his expression more serious as he watched her. Yes, he did feel very close to her. It made his heart race trying to define it.

Cajanic I'm sorry I keep disappearing! IRL keeps making it so I can't get on the computer very much OTL Maua pressed her side against Shangwe. "That makes me happier than you could ever know." She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, enjoying the warm breeze passing through her fur. She loved this lion, she really did, whether she came outright and said it or not.
"I'm happier now than I have ever been. And I really have been making more friends, just, they haven't clicked as well as you have." She chuckled quietly. "Though I do suppose that is alright with me." She glanced over at her companion, wondering what he was thinking. He did look rather serious.

Shangwe could have melted feeling her against him. It really made him feel like he had found something that had otherwise been missing from his life. Who knew that it had just been a matter of finding the right lion to hang around with? Maybe he had been too quick to think that he was content with being friends with everyone. He had needed something a little more… personal. “I think that’s alright with me, too,” he assured her softly, giving her a nuzzle of his own, just to show that she wasn’t the only one who could do the cuddle thing. He was feeling very affectionate at that moment.
