Walking down the worn stone steps into the darkness below was exciting, Isidore knew the place had been a library, that was what Hakim had said. He wondered if it would be like the Pantheon library, a vast space of books and different halls. A world within the Pantheon as much as anything that lay behind the doors. The stairs ended in a vast room, lit a little by the sunlight streaming down the stairs. Isidore turned back to Hakim, he snapped his fingers and the torches placed around the walls sprang to life. “I wonder if we can do that one day.” Isidore whispered to his sister. It was, as Hakim had said, empty, no sign of any books, just shelves and lots of sand that had been blown in. It wasn’t very interesting.
Kleo looked around, out of all of them, to her it was the most familiar. “It was never in here.” She said, glancing back at Cosine, “this way.”
Isidore trailed after them with Scim, who seemed to be bored too. He was beginning to think looking for a bunch of books was not quite as fun as he first thought.

Kyrie looked around at the old stone as they followed the adults down into the ruins. Blinking as light suddenly flooded the room by a snap from Hakim, she was duly impressed. That was neat. Looking to her brother at his whispered words, she nodded in agreement. She really hoped that they would. It would be so cool to be able to snap your fingers and have flames appear.
Glancing around, Kyrie tilted her head. This didn't look much like a library to her. It looked more like a storeroom. An old, dirty storeroom. Sighing a little, she fell into step with her brother and Scim. "Where do you think it is if it wasn't here?" she asked him, her little hand finding its way into his.

Isidore shrugged and sighed it definitely would not be as exciting as a room full of treasure he decided as they went through a doorway and entered yet another room with nothing in it. He looked up at his mother and felt that he might have a plan. It might not be much fun down in the library but they could always make their own fun, they were good at that. “Mama, can we go and play outside?” he asked, reaching out to tap her arm. “I promise we’ll be really good. Really really good and we won’t wander off or anything like that.
Cosine looked down at her son and glanced to the way they had come. She didn not want them to get bored, though she also did not want them wandering off. “You may play outside, but you may –not- wander off and if you seen any strange people you must come back down here okay?” She said sternly.
Isidore nodded and grinned at Ky. “Of course mama, we will be extra extra good I promise.”

Kyrie stopped as the others did and looked around in disappointment. Yet another empty room. Her excitement about their adventure was getting dangerously low. Turning her head as Isi spoke to their mother, she felt it renew and she fluffed her feathers. Nodding in agreement with his promise, she clasped her hands together and peered hopefully up at their mother. When she gave her permission, she clapped her hands and looked to her brother.
"I promise too! Race you Isi!" she laughed and turned to bolt back the way they had come towards the sunlight.

Sunshiine! Much better than being inside that stuffy, horrible library with nothing in it. “Hi Anwar!” Isi called happily to the camel who was laying down in the shade cast by one of the walls of the ruined building. Right, now they were outside what were they going to do. They were not allowed to wander off. Isidore glanced around and put his hands on his hips. One thing they had was lots and lots of sand. “Let’s make something out of sand.” He declared. “We can make our own treasure palace, it will be the best, way better than any other treasure palace.

Kyrie closed her eyes and basked for a moment in the warm heat of the desert sun. That was definitely much better than a stuffy empty room. "Yes! That is perfect! Our treasure palace will have twenty rooms full of treasure. Not just one big one," she declared as she moved to the side and dropped to her knees. Using her hands, she began to scoop away at the sand. "Should our treasure palace have a kitchen?"

“Of course! How would we make cookies if we don’t have a kitchen.” Isidore declared. Cookies were, of course a very, very important thing life without them, well it would just not be worth it. He crouched and started to scoop up sand too so they could make something that resembled walls. It would have to be big if they wanted twenty rooms. He straightened and put his hands on his hips. “Hmm.” He mused, taking paces away from the room he was making. “I think it should be this big.” He called out to her and crouched down again to start making the furthest wall.

Kyrie laughed at his declaration. He had a very, very good and valid point. Continuing to work on her room, she glanced over to him briefly as he marched away from her. Looking up completely as he called out, she nodded in agreement. "I think that will do nicely. We want to be sure we have plenty of room for our treasure," she agreed. "I think we should have four rooms for gold and four for silver and four for gems only and the rest can have all the other kinds of treasure."

Isidore nodded in agreement though really he wasn’t bothered about how many rooms for each precious thing they had. He wasn’t all that interested in gold and silver and gems. “Can we have a bone room?” He asked with a smile as he dug down into the sand to make a pile next to him. He would turn it into a wall when he was done excavating. “I’d like a room for bone things, like the things dad makes, that would be nice. We should have a place for the crows in the garden too and Cae needs some rooms. She’d like a place for birds too.

Kyrie looked up at his request and thought about it for a moment. Even thought bones were not glittery, she quite enjoyed them too. She liked the way they felt. "Yes! We can have a bone room. A biiiig bone room. You should have a skeleton in there to show off. Oh!" she exclaimed and bounced up to her feet in a shower of sand. Wandering over to the side of what would be their palace, she began to dig. "I'll build a big home for Fin and all of her family and any other crows who'd like to visit. Then I'll build another home for the other birds for Cae. We should have a special room for Mom and Dad for when they come to visit too."

“Oh yes of course.” He agreed, of course they wanted a room for their parents. They would need a room each too in their big pretend house. He shifted to start building his wall, it was not easy the sand was very dry so as soon as he piled it up it slipped back down, making a small hill shape rather than a wall. Still it was still possible to see the shape of the house, they could always look for some bricks elsewhere to make it into a proper treasure palace. “We should make a garden too. Maybe Uncle Xun could come and make us some water.”

"Yes! I bet he would if we asked him super nice! And then he could come visit and play in the water with us as well," Kyrie agreed and continued to make her trench in the sand. Sitting back on her heels as the sand slid back down into her work, she frowned and looked over at her brother for a moment.
"This isn't working so good. We need something to make the sand stick. Oh! Maybe could use water? It makes mud and stuff and that's sticky," she mused and rose to her feet. Walking over to Anwar and their supplies, she found a container of water and walked over to where her brother was. "Here. Let's try," she smiled and crouched down to pour some near his hands.

“Yeah it’s not working good.” He repeated, then watched her wander off to get some water from the camel, the pair not quite understanding how important it was for mortals to have water in the desert. It worked though, her pouring water onto the sand. He crouched down again and began to build the wall up as best he could. It helped with digging down too, he was actually able to make a nice deep hole, that seemed more fun than building a wall. “Pour more water Kyrie.” He said with a broad grin, this is working really well, look at the big hole.”

Kyrie held the water flagon and watched him manipulate the wet sand. Now -that- looked like fun. She was quite fond of playing with mud. She really liked the way it squished in her fingers and toes. Pouring more water as requested, she set the container off to the side and began to help her brother dig deep.
"Look! I can put my foot in it," she grinned and shifted to demonstrate how deep and awesome their hole was now. Sitting back, she began patting the sides of their hole as hard as she could. "I wonder how big we can make it."

"Really big!" Isidore agreed, and started to dig deeper and deeper. Scim decided to help out too, he was the best at digging, faster than Isidore's little hands could manage. Then, all of a sudden something shifted, the earth seemed to move. Isi stopped digging and sat back on his heels, Scim stopped too and gave a bit of a whine. Before they could do anything more the ground beneath them in the hole gave out and they were falling, slipping into the hole with the sand, down and down until they landed with a hard thud. Scim yelped as did Isidore when they landed among the sand and mud on a hard stone floor.
