Goretti was trotting towards the rendezvous point Julienne had established the day before. He was running a little late, but there was nothing he could do; his father had gotten home late and Orin couldn't just sneak out without him noticing. He had to wait until his father had tucked him into bed, giving him a kiss on the forehead and then crawled into his own bed for the night.

Even then he'd waited fifteen minutes before tiptoeing out of bed. He stuffed pillows and stuffed animals under the covers to make it look like he was still there (on the offchance his father got restless and decided to check) and had then slipped out of the window. The screening had been loose for a long time, but Orin hadn't bothered to tell his father; it still kept bugs out when he wanted it to—and it made for a great method of escape.

He powered up almost immediately, afraid of one of the neighbors recognizing him and reporting him to his father. It was less weird this time, but was still just odd. He'd spent all day thinking about the senshi he was going to meet today; he had a wall of questions in mind and couldn't wait to learn more about this whole weird thing.

He wasn't afraid, this time—just excited.

"Hello?" he called, a little premature as he leapt over some bushes to hasten his trip. "I'm here, I'm late, I'm sorry!" he called—well before he even knew if the senshi he was supposed to meet up with had beaten him there.

Lenka was waiting, fiddling with a leaf, ripping it into little bits. It wasn’t nearly as big and…leafy as the leaves on her homeworld…but still. Somehow it made her want to go back. Silly leaf. Where was this new boy? This new senshi that Julienne had told her about? He was supposed to have been here already…

The girl sighed, looking up at the sky, wondering just where her asteroid really was up there…maybe if she had a really strong telescope…maybe she could see it if she looked hard enough!

The senshi looked rather excited for a moment, then paused, hearing someone calling something. Oh! Was he here? “It’s okay! Are you Goretti? Julienne told me about you!” Lenka made her way to the boy, grinning. It was another chibi! No wonder Julienne wanted her to go and great him! How cool was this! Oh she loved Chibi senshi. They were always so nice and friendly. Or at least the ones she was friends with were. “My name’s Sailor Chibi Lenka! I’m the Senshi of Watermelons and it’s so nice to meet you!”

"Hi, hi! I am Goretti, it's so good to meet you!" the boy said, eagerly gripping the girl's hand and shaking. "I'm senshi of Glue! Or, at least, that's what Julienne said, but I think it's okay to trust her. I'm still really new and I know I have a lot of questions, sorry!"

It was best to let her know upfront that he seriously had no idea what he was doing.

"I didn't mean to be late, but I had to sneak out. I didn't tell my dad anything, but it was really hard to sneak out! I still feel bad! I'm afraid he's going to catch me and I'm going to get in trouble." He didn't look very worried, though—not with that broad grin on his face. "So—are there a lot of people like you? The…the senshi types? I've never seen anyone like you before!"

…Not that he was ever really out late enough or watching the news; he knew little about the costumed heroes that lurked in the night, or the terrorists they advertised on the news. He ran in a circle around Lenka, looking over her outfit before he stopped in front of her. "You look really great! Definitely like watermelons! I totally see it! What are the wings for, though?"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 21, 2013 4:52 pm

Lenka listened and shook her head after a moment, laughing a little. This was reminding her very much of when she had first become a senshi and had run into Hug-Bell. She wondered sometimes how the other chibi was doing…they hadn’t seen one another since then…and that was kind of sad. But…it was funny how similar the questions were…and the sheer amount that Goretti was asking.

“It’s very nice to meet you, Goretti. Very nice indeed…and yes. There are quite a lot of Senshi, at least I’ve met quite a lot! Most are really nice, and all of them are willing to help you out and answer your questions…or at least most of all of them are. I totally am.”

She gave a little laugh as he gave her a look over, then laughed again when he mentioned the wings. She had done the same thing! Jeeze, were all chibis the same with their questions?

“The wings are because I’m at the highest level of power that I can get to. I’m an eternal Senshi, and you’re a basic, so I’m two steps above you. It took me a long time to get my wings, but boy was it worth every moment! I love having them, I feel so strong!”

Goretti instantly glanced from the wings to her face. "I can get some too?" he asked; he wasn't so sure they'd look as good on him as they did her, but getting stronger was sounding like a good plan. "If I get stronger I can fight those bad things, the things that almost hurt me and Julienne, right? The youma?" The word was still foreign to him and he made a face while pronouncing it.

"It'll be easier to fight them, to protect everyone? …I mean, I took some time and sat down last night, and really thought about it. It's kinda scary to think someone wants you to fight, but if it's monsters, I think it's okay." He shrugged; that's what all the heroes did, and if a cat could do it, so could he.

"Though…Where exactly does this power come from? …I didn't get bit by a spider, or mutated or anything, so I'm still kind of confused. Like…how? How is it all possible?"

Fairy godmother? Magical frogs?

Lenka nodded. “Of course you can get some! They’re a mark of power and they look super cool! First you have to get to become a Super senshi, and that’ll take some work and practice, but I know you can do it!” She grinned. “It does make it easier to help people when you’re stronger, I know I’ve found it a lot easier at least!”

The chibi laughed. “And when you protect people, you really feel good about yourself, that’s really for sure! I love protecting everyone, and I always feel so special that I have the ability to!” Lenka gave another giggle when the boy started talking about strange things happening to give him the powers he had. “No, no. It’s not some silly superhero comic thing…you were born with these powers. We all were…that is all of the senshi were. Like…our power comes from space…I think. I don’t know. I went to space not too long ago and it was cool and that was where I used to live? Like, my power comes from there—from Lenka. It’s an asteroid and there’s lots of trees and stuff and…your power comes from Goretti, whatever that is…so yeah. No spiders…Just power inside of you that Julienne helped to make come out!”

"Superheroes aren't silly," Goretti said, slightly under his breath. He couldn't help but argue it just a bit; he had grown up watching superheroes and wasn't going to let anyone put them down. "—And to be honest, getting your powers from space sounds very superhero-y! I mean—the Green Lantern? He got a ring from space. And some talking cat giving me a pen is just as super-hero-y as finding some dying alien and getting a ring."

He didn't argue beyond that; instead he was back to asking more questions, "Do we need a spaceship to get into space, or—how do you do that? Because I really, really would love to go. Oh! Can we take pictures? Or is that bad, like telling anyone you're a senshi?"

The boy was rocking on his heels, trying to find some outlet for his energy; it was the closest to still he could stay. "…Like…I wanted to tell my dad. But Julienne said I couldn't, but I feel bad for sneaking out…I'm afraid he's gonna catch me and I'm going to get in trouble or disappoint him…"

“Kind of, I guess…honestly, in terms of space things, I think just being a Jedi is a better way of thinking about it.” Lenka nodded. “I mean, you know? Some people are born with the Force, and some aren’t. We’re the Jedi’s of the city…which means that there are also Sith people. The bad guys…and…well. They are really nasty, let me tell you that.”

She stuck out her tongue at the mere thought of some of the foes she had faced, then sighed. “And about your dad…you really can’t tell him, Goretti…it’s just not safe…I mean…I’ve been doing this for over two years…almost three, I think and I haven’t told my mom…and she’s stayed safe because of it…I don’t want your dad to get hurt…the bad guys are really really bad and they will hurt him if they ever find out that he is important to you…” Lenka sighed. “It’s so hard keeping this a secret…but that’s why you have to find senshi friends to talk to and keep you happy…that always makes things a lot easier!”

Orin tried not to look disappointed; he wore a small smile, though it was somewhat halfhearted for a short while. "Well, senshi friends sound good. I always like new friends. Hmm." He was quiet for a moment and then shrugged, as if coming to some conclusion on some unvocalized debate he'd been having. "…I kinda always wanted to be a superhero anyway, so I guess nobody's wish comes true without a catch." He sighed. "Wish I could tell dad. I mean, maybe one day, right? …I guess I can't really complain about being like a Jedi. They're cool."

He kicked at the ground a bit, then asked, "What if he's a senshi too? What if we're both keeping it a secret but we could really be out fighting crime—uh, I mean, youma—together?"

…Not that his father would let him go out if he knew what he was doing, but for a brief moment Goretti was entertaining the thought of an elite squad of father and son, saving the world one battle at a time…

Yeah, it probably wasn't ever going to happen. He loved his dad and all, but he couldn't imagine his father out fighting.

She shrugged. “I mean. Maybe? I just…I can’t picture my mom being a senshi either…and I haven’t really seen any grown up senshi…so I don’t really think that our parents can be them? I don’t know. I know that they can be knights? But I’m not really sure what the point of knights are…the worst one I met treated me like I was about five years old…so I don’t really like her. She was dumb.”

Lenka sighed. “But…but we can see? Maybe you can tell your dad one day…but only if you really, really have to. It’s not something you want to throw around to him…there’s always the chance he could be a bad guy too! It…it’s a bad thought, and I’m sure he’s not…but it’s just not safe to throw around who you are…it really isn’t. You can tell me, though. ‘Cause I’m going to tell you. We’re gonna be good friends, Goretti. I know we are. I like you already.”

Orin's grin immediately sprouted again on his face. "I like you, too! We can be best friends! And you can tell me all about senshi stuff—can I go to your planet? —and Knights, what are those? Can I be a knight? Are they a gang?"

He already formulated an image of what he supposed knights were; he imagined a mixture of teenaged punks and old, hobbling grandparents all dressed up in matching basketball jerseys and wearing plate mail helmets, running around on scooters and jousting.

He shook his head hastily to clear the image, though not before laughing.

"No, not a gang. They're good, right? If my dad was some magical warrior, he'd be a good guy, I know it. It's safe to tell you my identity, right? I mean, I took Julienne home with me, so she knows who I am and where I live. My name's Orin," he said, whispering the last part as he stuck out his hand to shake.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 21, 2013 7:36 pm

“Noooo! The knights are sort of like us, I think. They’re magical and stuff. They’re not a gang at all!” The girl took his hand, then blinked. “Orin?”

She paused for a moment, letting her sailor form melt away. “Like my friend Orin?”

Millie stood there, looking confused, but rather excited. Orin was a senshi? Could it be the same Orin? Though…how many other Orins were there in the city? It wasn’t really a normal name, after all!

“Uh, but if you’re not, It’s very nice to meet you anyway! I’m Millie, short for Millicent! Though…if you are already my Orin, you’d know that so uh…yeah!”

Orin stared for a long moment, smile frozen; it wasn't obvious that he was concentrating and trying to power down until he morphed back into his civilian clothes a second later. "Yeah! What! How is this—this is so neat! I should have guessed! I knew there was something special about you when I met you!"

He seemed surprised, but in a tremendously good mood; meeting new people was exciting, but finding out that you already had a friend that you could confide in and go to for guidance? Considering how weird this whole thing was, he wouldn't have traded that for anything.

He dropped the hand and moved to give her a quick hug instead. "Tell your mom I said hi! —At least now you know why I was worrying! Dad is a worrywart, it's so hard not to tell him anything! I almost had a heart attack sneaking out!"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 21, 2013 8:18 pm

Millie laughed, returning the hug. “Yeah! Oh this is so cool. I love it when my friends are also senshi! That always just makes them such better friends! I hate keeping secrets, and of course I’ll tell my mom hi! And Yeah, your dad is a worrywart and I’m so glad you managed to sneak out…I’ll tell you…it gets a lot easier the more you do it…even if that is pretty bad…”

She hugged him harder. “There will be some scary times, I’m not going to lie…but so long as you keep your friends close…things will always get easier in the end…I can promise you that. And we’ll be friends forever, so that won’t ever be an issue, okay, Orin?” The girl laughed. “Never an issue ever.”

Whatever concern Orin had, it melted away. He relaxed immediately and breathed an audible sigh of relief. "Okay. I am probably going to take some time to get used to this…I'm not really used to fighting. I don't really know how to, so I know I have a lot to learn. I would rather not hurt anyone, but…I know it's important to keep everyone I care about safe, so I'm willing to do whatever I can. Will you…maybe come with me the first few times I go out? I really don't want to be alone…if something goes wrong…I don't know what to do…"

He didn't seem embarrassed to be asking; his life and well being was more important than making himself seem strong. He wanted to make sure he didn't come home with bruises that he didn't know how to explain to his father.
