AVALANCHE!
Ends on July 18th
As many Schnee la Neige'milima know, summer time is quite dangerous and full of surprises! Early in the morning, you hear some loud cracking and shaking. Quickly, you realize it's an avalanche heading right towards the pride! Panic and chaos is soon to follow, and you've got to react quickly. Summer time is known for avalanches, so the danger is apparent to all members, yet it's always still a surprise when the first one of the year happens.

Notes:
Anyone can join in, as long as they don't have a creature that can't handle the cold (Like a Snake, or most birds)
You do not need to be in the pride to post, if you're in the general area, or just passing through it works too!
Prizes, however, must stay in the pride.

It's a reaction rp to the current Avalanche happening. You can post one post, or several. You may interact with other characters.
This is part 1 of two!
Each post will be added into a raffle at the end of the rp.
Those who already have/customed into this breeding can still join, however they'll be not added to the raffle.

Prize:

Chisisi heard the cracks, and ran close to his mother. He was scared out of his mind and didn't exactly know what to do or where to go. Whatever happened, he would keep following his family l they were safe. He hoped they would be safe, and he would make sure that he would expect this, and...oh, where was Joka!?

User Image

Joka hopped along behind Chisisi, hoping he wouldn't worry about her, he always worried about where she was, but she hoped he was safe. "Chisisi! There you are! I was worried you were still up there, but im so glad you found your family." She bounded up next to him, staying close.

Rashida's ears went straight to her skull. They had been warned about avalanches, and even did a few drills, but having one happen was a lot different than having a drill. They had been enjoying the early morning light, and it was a good thing! Panic rose up into Rashida as she looked towards the mountain.

"Quick, get the kids in the cave!" She yelled mostly to Gunju, but to anyone who was close enough to hear her. The first thing they needed to do was insure all their children were safe, then worry about everyone else. She went to grab at Chisisi's neck to rush him to somewhere safe.

Bloo Starr

Gunju didn't hesitate for a moment and started gathering the rest of their cubs, and a hare or two. He didn't bother to look around, he didn't want to see what was happening. It was better for him to keep focused on this, or he might freeze and be unable to do anything at all.

Chisisi was glad to be picked up by his mother, and meowed a scared thanks to her. He dangled limply from her mouth and his paws had started to shake from the shock of the natural disaster, and he wathced Joka still where she had been sitting close to Chisisi before his mother had picked him up by the scruff. Hey yelled out to her "Hurry up Joka, get to the cave!"

Joka hopped along as soon as she heard Chisisi's call "Im coming, don't worry!" She hopped along quickly behind Rashida, wind whipping against her fluffy, furry face.

Snow. Out of all the things Waasi had prepared for when choosing this path, he hadn't expected snow. He had seen the stuff once or twice before, but never in the vast amounts that he was currently slogging through. The mostly white hyena blended in nicely with the stuff, but it didn't make the going any easier. It did offer constant water, though, and he would grab a mouthful as he needed, letting it dissolve in his mouth, swallowing a bit at a time.

He was incredibly glad to have broken away from the pack he had been a part of. He had been a slave there, caught after a fight, and had been hoping for a way out. That way had come when the females who ran the pride became focused on things other than keeping their slaves, and he had taken off to freedom. He had just picked the wrong path. Snow wasn't freedom, it was a death wish. But if he could just get over these mountains...

A distant rumble made him p***k up his ears. What was that? A few voices somewhere above him began shouting back and forth, something about cubs and caves. Were there lions up there? Waasi narrowed his eyes: lions weren't much of an issue, but if they were hyenas...well. He'd want nothing to do with them.

Endzela was dozing peacefully in one of the pridal caves. She was a huntress, a provider for the pride, and she worked hard. It was rewarding work, but tiring. It didn't take long for her to be out like a light once she found a place to rest. And once she fell asleep, it took an avalanche to wake her up.

An avalanche just like the one beginning outside.

The lioness woke with a start. She could feel the rumbling through the rocks, so she looked around fearfully. At least the cave was sturdy. But, if anyone was outside...

She bounced to her paws and dashed to the cave's opening to look outside. There was movement. A lioness carrying a cub, among others.

"Quickly!" She called in encouragement, eyes darting around. Perhaps there was something else she could do to help.

Well, this was new. Zawadi looked down at the snow that crunched underneath her cracked paw pads. Her trek had brought her to many different biomes, but this was the first that had anything like this.

She took a deep breath and continued walking. The cold made her paws numb, but it was a welcome feeling. She couldn't remember the last time her paws hadn't ached, worn out from walking for hours on end every day.

The sudden rumble didn't cause her any alarm at first. She was lost in her thoughts. The second, however, caused her to stop in her tracks. Her gaze flew around, trying to find the source of the noise, but nothing proved to be making the sound around her. What in the world?

User ImageUpelelezi stared out at the field of white in front of him. The snow bit harshly at his paws. He kept lifting them high with each stepping hoping that it would relieve some of the pain but with every drop of his paw the cold pierced through his body.

He groaned as the wind blew, sending more chills down his spine. There was nothing Upeleleze hated more in the world then snow. He could feel his legs starting to become numb and it was getting harder and harder to trudge on. "Maybe I could just rest here for a minute he thought out loud to himself.

As Upelelezi was resting curling into himself to keep warm he heard the faint sound of what appeared almost like a rumble. His ears perked up trying to hear it better. It was definitely a rumble. Now what in the world could that be? Upelelezi got up and shook off the snow from his fur looking around trying to indicate the cause of the sound.

User ImageWith winter's festivities long over, Noelani had begun to have strange visions of a mountain she had never seen before. The snows shifted restlessly in her swimming visions and it filled her with uneasiness. Noelani lived on the mountain the Sikukuu based their yearly festivities around and though she loved the company of her pridemates, she was often off and alone, traveling ever farther up the mountain, picking her own paths. Other lions warned her of the dangers of the mountain and the fury of the piercing winds but Noelani found it refreshing...Besides. Sometimes being around others was too taxing on the lionesses mind. Social interaction combined with her ever racing mind made Noelani a bit of a social recluse.

So when persistent visions of a far off mountain plagued the seers mind she felt only obligated to explore it as she had her own beloved berg.

She had been there for a while, fascinated by the new crags and caves she had found, careful to make sure she was not invading anybody's homes but the feeling of foreboding her visions had given her was never far from her mind. The mountains were beautiful, yes, but moody and petulant.

The sound of the crack forced the lioness to press her ears flat against her head, golden eyes looking around frantically only to be greeted with another, angry rumble.

Noelani swallowed and shouted out, hoping that anyone at all could hear her. There was a pride around here. They needed to be warned.

"AVALANCHE! FIND A CAVE, QUICK. TAKE COVER!" it was just like she had seen...But now it had the misfortune of being true.

The lioness bolted as fast as her sure footed paws could take her, calling out to any creatures as she passed to follow her to safety if they didn't have a safe haven already.

Would they follow her? Her visions gave her no indication...But she hoped this avalanche would not bring death to the pride...

Urza had been headed to the boarder of the pride, making sure everything was safe and dandy. The first rumble got him to stop and listen. He wasn't sure at first, what it was. The second, confirmed his suspicion. Without hesitation he started to run towards the pride. That was the only thing that mattered when situations like this happened. he ran past a lioness he had never seen, and even saw a cheetah in the distance, but he didn't stop to great them.

There was much work to be done, and before it could be done he needed to make sure his pride was safe. After that, then he could very well recruit to help clear the snow away from the pride. Urza managed to get there before the avalanche to take full motion. He saw some pride members already taking action. "INTO THE FAR CAVES" he roared as loud as he could. There weren't many lions out and about. He was glad they had multiple ways out of the caves.

More rumbles could be heard, as the avalanche was starting to farther break away. Heading fast towards the pride below. Snow, rocks, and anything else it managed to take with it came tumbling full force towards the small pride at the bottom of the mountain. Even though the pride was pretty far down, the snowy mush was sure to cover at least part of the pride.

Louder, and faster, it went closer and closer.

Bari grab Cari in her mouth so they could move faster. She could tell that Cari was scare and she was scare as well. This was not cool at all. She look around and heard the king talk and she ran as fast as she could. She thew Cari onto her back so she could talk. "Ohh no Cari. This is no good. Are you okay? While you up there make sure you look for cubs that might be lost. We gotta make sure everyone is safe. This is just no good at all." She said with a quite, soft voice, trying to stay calm.

Cari was so scare that she couldn't move untill she felt Bari grab her. She relax just a little knowing she was in safe paws. She look around as she heard the kind. Her twitch was start up and her back paw was kicking all over the place. She then flew up in the air, landing on Bari back. She heard what Bari said and nodded. "Yes Mam! I make sure I be on the look out." She said as her twitch start up again.

"Kirala, go and find any stragglers! Bisra, follow the king's lead!"

What a day for all these rogues to be ambling about. If Korini didn't know better, she'd think that second rumble was the mountain laughing, jeering at them about the bad timing. She was a guard and as such fancied it her job to subject any and all strangers to some scrutiny and determine whether or not they were dangerous. Today, that wisdom would be more like hesitation; should she falter, it could mean someone's death. Whether they were outlanders or not, when Korini next slept, she'd rest easier knowing any procedures that could be done to prevent casualties had been adhered to.

She assayed the situation with what little time there was to spare. Nearest to her was a cheetah, the fastest animal around, so she'd been taught by her brother. It was sensible to send her bolting off to the caves first.

Korini called as she ran to her, "Cheetah! You need to follow the king! The fluffy, white lion just over that way! Go!"

Kirala wasn't exactly thrilled to be approaching predators she didn't know. The world outside these lands was more familiar to her than the welcoming atmosphere she thrived in here. She remembered what it was like to be hunted, to fear the end of her life was a snap of jaws around every corner. This in mind, she took precautions when approaching the hyena and stayed out of swiping range, far enough she could outrun him if he decided the avalanche wasn't worth wasting a meal.

"Over there!" Kirala beckoned. She stood on her hind legs and waved a paw frantically. "Follow me, dear! I'll lead you to the caves!"

Bisra was terrified. So shaken that he almost hadn't heard Korini. It took him far too long in a situation where every second counted to will his legs to move. At last, he sprang forward, one panicked hop after another toward the king. He had never spoken to this lion directly. To do so would be intimidating under the best of circumstances.

Bisra couldn't find the nerve to speak up. Instead, he stayed close, waiting for opportunity to present itself. He would be useful, he swore to himself. He must be brave!

Waasi's ears twitched as he heard shouting from somewhere above him. Up the hill a bit he could see lions and rabbits running around like something was coming to get them. What could possibly scare lions? They were the top of the food chain. Perhaps a herd of elephants on a rampage...was that what that rumbling was? But why would elephants be on a snow covered mountain?

A louder rumble caught his attention and he turned to look up at the face of the mountain. Eyes widened as he saw the snow turn to a river, ripping trees and rocks and everything else out of the ground, tumbling down over itself. Waasi was a sturdy hyena, afraid of very little, but this was terrifying. It was so fast! Faster than any cheetah he'd seen...and it was heading right for them.

He was frozen for a moment before a voice called out. He turned his head to focus on the small rabbit waving at him a few feet away. Follow her? The lions here seemed to have the rabbits as companions so, rather than ignoring her, he tried to follow. Unfortunately for him, his small, canine paws slid straight through the snow, making movements cumbersome and slow.

There seemed to be a number of strangers out in the snow. It was a bit strange to see. Most creatures didn't really know about this place, or avoided the cold that surrounded it. It struck her that they might not know the signs of an avalanche, either. Seeing other pride members organizing themselves to retrieve the young and vulnerable, Endzela decided it was time to do more than just yell encouragements from her current perch. With a deep breath to steady her nerves, she leaped from the cave mouth and into the snow, ready and willing to help others out.

She felt her heart soar as her King appeared, shouting his own instructions to the others. But the strangers might be confused. It seemed that everyone was making their way to the caves already, so Endzela set herself up to direct traffic towards the opening.

... Oh no. It was definitely coming now, as she felt the ground rumbled further. If it wasn't for the height of the mountain and their position at the base giving them time to escape... No! She couldn't think that way. Panic wouldn't help the situation.

"Over here, over here!" she called to anyone within earshot, moving around to make her blue form more visible in the blinding white of the snow.
