Kamiki Missy trotted over to the stallion that appeared - a mighty strong and handsome looking one at that - and gave him her most charming smile. "Hi there," she said, tossing her mane and fluffing her wings out. "Any kind of games, really? What do you like play? Hide and seek? Or just splash around in the river? It is awfully hot."

one over three When he spotted the strange female did a double take. White as a dove? No, there was more colour mixed in to her coat. The way it glistened in the sun was captivating. “Oh well then. I haven’t played hide and seek since I was just a little thing. Not sure there’s all too many places which would keep me hidden these days. The thought of a swim sounds fantastic, but I’m not familiar with the area. Could you lead the way?” He smiled, “My name is Euthyphro. May I ask yours?”

Kamiki The mare giggled coyly, covering her face briefly with one of her wings. "Me, either...but sometimes its fun to act like a foal again every now and then!" She looked around the meadow: indeed there was no where to go to hide, really, save a copse of trees every now and then. "Well, swimming it is! I'll be happy to show you, there's a stream not to far from here."
She began to head to head north, looking over her shoulder. "So nice to meet you, Euthyphro. My name is Miecillena. But everyone calls me Missy. Where are you from?"

one over three “Why?” he asked, following behind. “Miecillena is such a pretty name. I will call you Missy if you would prefer, but if it makes no difference I would rather use your full name. Some of my friends call me Euth though, it doesn’t bother me either way.”
He could see a copse of trees before them and he had to resist running ahead to get into the shade. His back and wings caught too much of the sun’s heat. He glanced at his new friend again and without really thinking said, “It must be nice to be so pale.”

Kamiki There was a slight blush visible on her nose and in her ears when he complimented her name. "Oh my, aren't you sweet?" she asked. "Well, you can call me Miecillena if you prefer. I guess Missy is just easier, but it doesn't bother me either way."
When he mentioned her coloration, she looked down at herself. "Pale?" She watched the sun glimmer off her shiny feathers, "Huh, I've never really thought about it I guess. But I think your colors are pretty, too! You look like the night sky!"

one over three He laughed softly, turning his head back to look at his own coat and wings, “Do you think so?” It was a bit of a strange thought, his mother had had always reminded him of the night sky, his own was far too green.
“Oh! I didn’t answer your question, did I. I’m not from anywhere in particular. My mother is a wanderer and I grew up following her from place to place. There have been a few places I’ve taken shelter in and returned to over the years, but no where I would really call a home. What about you? Do you have a home nearby? A family maybe?”

Kamiki Missy continued to lead the way towards the stream; she wasn't exactly in a hurry, enjoying the conversation she was having. "My mother lives the forest near here," she said, looking off to the east. "We didn't grow up in a herd or anything, she's kind of shy. I see my father sometimes, but he didn't exactly stick around," she said with a small pout. "But at least he tries. I think he's got a new mate now, though. I don't think Mom's too happy about it."

one over three He nodded as he listened, and turned his head to look east when she gestured. There was a forest out that way. He wasn’t sure what else he’d expected to see.
“My family was similar. Did she love him?”

Kamiki She tilted her head, thinking. "I think she thinks she loves him. But I don't know if she realizes how beautiful she is." She looked back at him. "Your father not around much either?"
A glimmer in the sun caught her eye. "Oh hey, there's the stream!"

one over three “It always surprises me just how many mares there are who don’t underestimate their own beauty,” spotting the water he picked up his pace. Oh anything to cool off his back a bit sooner.
“I haven’t been to visit him as often as I should. It was my mother who left. She loved him, they loved each other dearly. He just demanded something of her that she couldn’t do. So she said her goodbyes and walked away. To be honest I have a stepfather now who I see more often than either of my birth parents.”
He waded into the stream, sighing as the water passed over his legs.

"How interesting," she said as he told her his story. It never occurred to her, for some reason, that the mother would be the one to move on without her children. Probably because Satine was so gentle and Vespasian was so larger-than-life; he almost seemed like a mythical figure already. Some hero in a great story you tell to your children before bed.
"Do you get along with your stepfather?" she asked him, following him into the water. The cool stream felt wonderful in the summer sun; carrying the refreshing chill from the mountain snow into the blistering heat of the meadow. "I do hope Mother finds someone else. But at least there seems to be hope, yes?" she asked, smiling at him.

"Yes, we get along. I don’t always understand his reason for doing the things that he says but I enjoy speaking with him,” he waded out further into the river, kneeling down when he was in deep enough to let the water flow over his wings and back.
“Oh spirits that feels incredible,” he muttered under his breath. Louder he added, “If there’s hope for my mother then surely there’s hope for yours. Are there many folks coming through these parts? You’re the first person I’ve seen all day.”
