She had heard rumors; rumors that spoke of a land that was much different from where she'd come from. Belle once again stopped to stare down at a patch of flowers that seemed familiar and yet were not. It seemed that this land held a more temperate climate than what she was used to coming from a beach-like paradise. Of course paradise had its flaws too. With a gentle puff of breath Belle watched as the flowers wafted gently in her created breeze.
The mare took her gaze off the familiar but not familiar flowers to watch the figures in the distance. These too brought an aura of familiar but not familiar. The figures had not anything to dissuade her from joining them and yet she'd declined their offer to mingle. It was her cursed meekness playing a role that had began to become an annoyance. Meek would help around an enemy, much like a skittish rabbit around a fox, but when Belle tried to force herself to do something it usually had the opposite reaction of what she desired. How could she fix this problem? Perhaps the bigger question was if she could fix it. Maybe her "mission" to find Gaston could wait a bit. She needed to acclimatize herself to the land first it seemed. She needed to garner a sense of direction of how to approach a chosen solution. More than ever though; she needed a friend.

The sound of a hoof dragging along the ground had eyes opening in a flash. Belle cast a sleepy gaze around her before hearing the same sound again. There seemed to be no one in her direct area. How strange. As her mind stirred to wakefulness Belle recalled her dream. A flush appeared on her face before she shuffled on her hooves a little. Was it because she had decided on a slightly different route that her mind began to work against her?
Gaston never seemed far from her thoughts. Why was this happening now? The mare felt a slight apprehension that maybe she had started out too late. Shrugging off the feeling Belle lowered her head and let her eyes drift closed again. Hopefully she'd be able to grab more rest without her slumber being interrupted by sound that weren't actually there.

Time had passed and summer had officially ended. B'Elanna still had not located Gaston. She had had leads though to follow. Individuals had mentioned a rather burly looking stallion to her and from the picture they created the mare knew that she was on the right track. However no matter the direction that she traveled in she still had yet to locate the stallion. It was frustrating to have come all this way only to be unsuccessful in her task. Would she ever lay sight upon Gaston again or would she just have memories to rely on?
With a soft sigh B'Elanna rose to her hooves as the weak sunlight began to warm the air around her. She drew in a deep breath before exhaling slowly, intrigued by the sight of her breath playing out in front of her. Never had this before happened back home and it both amused and worried the mare. If it was this cold now what would winter bring? Would she find Gaston in time to perhaps avoid the deeper cold that winter signified?
Unfortunately there wasn't enough time available to dawdle on questions that she could not answer. With a long look at the area around her the mare set off once more. The scenery passed by as she broke into a ground-eating canter. The exercise would keep her warm at least for now.

The first glimpse of white capped mountains startled B'Elanna. The mare had been fighting the inevitable conclusion that winter was around the corner in desperation. However one glance at the new evidence had her trembling a little. She was not really prepared to spend winter away from the warmth of her own lands. It had been possibly the worst decision she could have made to track Gaston to these lands but one couldn't deny the pressing need to find what the heart wanted.
It was this journey that had opened her eyes to the realization that she had suppressed her own feelings when it came to Gaston. Why else would she have left the safety of home to track down the stallion? For her to do that it must have meant that she truly felt something deep down inside besides concern. B'Elanna shook her mane and once more stared at the mountains before resuming an easy trot. Her expression was troubled. How much longer could she go on?
