Was it so wrong of her to just avoid Dorian? Ursula managed to weave herself into a group of particularly Slytherin-hating Gryffindors after Dorian bloody proclaimed his love to her. Why am I even in this house? She couldn't help but wonder as she looked with obvious boredom at the other Gryffindors. They were meat-heads. And ignoring Dorian isn't exactly the most courageous thing I could do...

Preoccupied with herself, Ursula watched as the group of Gryffindors stood up from their table and started off. One of the guys (she made out with him once out of boredom) beckoned her to join them but she just shrugged and waved him off. They were talking about going swimming in Black Lake and Ursula was in no mood to be groped.

With that, she was left alone in the main hall. It was well after dinner so there were just some stragglers... Mostly upperclassmen. I wonder... Ursula glanced over to the Slytherin table, looking for Dorian, but instead saw a blonde and tanned fourth year boy shuffling cards where Dorian usually sat.

What was his name again...? For someone who was here for almost two years, Ursula still had yet to learn the name of all the fourth years. She just didn't care enough--but she recognized the boy's face. He hung around with another Slytherin girl... Big boobs... Ursula remembered, being slightly jealous. At least mine are pretty, She thought to herself, lowering her thick lashes as she looked down at her hand.

Were those two dating? She honestly couldn't remember but if he was, that would hopefully mean he wouldn't try going for her. With that thought and a will to satisfy her boredom (which fueled most of her actions, actually), Ursula made her way over to the Slytherin table and sat across from the boy.

"Teach me how to play poker," she said smoothly, the lithe smile on her face she knew guys loved, her light green eyes making eye contact with his brown eyes. "Please."

Kenny missed Serge. The only kid that could keep up with him, his best friend in the world, his partner in crime. Inset a title and the kid had it... Ok... not boy friend but still. Kenny shuffled the cards again. He had just whipped the floor with a third year and had taken him for all he was worth. Which wasn't much... A bag of Berti Botts every flavor beans... three liquorish wands and a handful of chocolate frogs. He set the candy aside as he bridged the cards. This was a new deck and so he was loosening them up some. His old deck von accused him of cheating with since they were so worn. So he had replaced it. And here he sat beating the people who thought to play with him out of all their candy.

The funny thing about this whole situation was that Kenny disliked candy. He never ate it. Maybe around Christmas time every now and again he would try some but he liked his sweets in the form of cake and cookies. Candy was just easier to deal with. He would add this to his collection in the dorm. He had a large collection but only because his friends didn't always take him up on the offer to have some. They would ooo and ahhh and then say nope thats ok... He shuffled the deck again.

Kennedy looked up and around to see the people leaving. Alright that meant it was about time to pick up. Not that he had any place to go really. Vonali was dating Attor at the moment which meant that he only saw her in class and the occasional hallway. Kenny however was still very much infatuated with her so he did have a lot of girls that flocked to be his friends. He was off limits enough that he was safe. But today he had seen Von and Attor in the hall snogging. So he was being ruthless in his pursuit of his poker partners. He was bridging the cards again and he flicked out an ace with a smirk. No the card wasn't marked. He just had a knack for finding his aces.

He pulled it back and shuffled it him. However there was someone in front of him. He raised his eyes. Gryffindor. He really didn't judge people by house but she had been with a group that did. He laughed when she told him to teach her. He shuffled the card and his eyes met hers and she said please. He sighed. Always a sucker for a pretty face. "Fine... Have a seat" He reached for the bag of beans and dumped them next to them on the table. "These will be what we are betting with..."

Ursula's smile grew wider when he agreed, even if he did give quite the sigh with it. Her eyes watched the jellybeans as they scattered across the table and she lightly knocked some of them back towards where the Slytherin boy initially piled them. "Mmm..." Ursula made sure to get the boy's eye contact, "Delicious," she said with a soft giggle.

With that, she watched as he shuffled around the cards. With her free hand, she flicked a red jelly bean back and forth softly with her finger. "I should know your name," she started, bringing her eyes up from the jellybean and looking at him. "But I don't," she admitted with a shrug, her shoulders lightly brushing her soft strawberry blonde curls.

"I'm Ursula Aster," Ursula began, extending her hand daintily out for him to shake. She a flirty smile on her face and she batted her thick lashes, making sure to look up at him between them. The look guys strangely love, Ursula leaned in slightly--making sure to look quite attentive. Boys also loved that. In fact, she'd seen countless women try that look and that leaning forward with her father. They always seemed to get somewhere so it must be successful.

"And you are?" She inquired, her voice silky.

Kenny watched the jellybeans not waiting for them to stay still. A few fell to the floor and Kenny simply ignored them. He raised an eyebrow. "Not really but if you say so..." He shrugged. "Professors get huffy when i play for money." He shrugged and set his deck down.

He waved to her to cut the deck. "Go ahead and half the deck... " She spoke and he looked up and frowned. "Thats a shame... Since i thought myself very popular... Now i know better." He gave a charming smile and then picked up the deck to deal. "For this poker you get five cards."

He smiled and nodded taking her hand in a soft but firm grip. He didn't want to crush her delicate hand. "I know... You are dating Dorian right? Im Kennedy Anderson... You may call me Kenny though... everyone does... " He set the deck back down and picked his hand up. "Look at your cards but don't show me... you are looking for straights full houses... flushes pairs... pretty much anything... " He grabbed on of the jelly beans and tossed it in. "Thats my anti piece... says im gonna play... so you do the same..."

Ursula in turn raised an eyebrow at the boy. "Not really but if you say so..." Her eyes narrowed and then she just shrugged. She couldn't help feel slightly ridiculous that her flirting just went unnoticed. I thought it was rather obvious... Of course I wouldn't eat candy that's been all over the table! "Do they," she drawled, flicking the jelly bean back and forth a bit faster.

Upon his instruction, Ursula took half the deck. At his cute smile and his light words, she couldn't help but give him a real smile--actually amused by what he said. "Oh, I'm afraid I'm the bringer of bad news then," she replied with a shrug, her eyes alight.

1... 2... Ursula counted out five cards and held them so he couldn't see. So he knows who I am... The thought was satisfying--however, the words he added afterwards made Ursula do something completely out of character and unlady-like. She groaned. "I am NOT dating him," Ursula corrected with a huff, tightening her jaw. Couldn't she go five minutes without forcibly remembering him?! Is he telling people I'm still dating him...? That seemed out of character for Dorian--but the dweeb just confessed his undying affections for her so perhaps Ursula didn't know him at all.

Back to poker... Ursula thought, not wanting to linger any more than she had to on that certain person. She didn't want to talk about it either--especially not to some stranger. As she tried to follow his words, her brows furrowed together in confusion as she looked down at his anti piece. "Kenny, I don't mean to bruise your ego but you are rather horrid at explanations..." Ursula spoke smoothly, looking up at him with arched brows. "Straights? Full houses? Flushes? Anti-piece?"

Kenny caught it... he just hadn't taken the bait. He contemplated the girl in front of him. He considered himself in love with Vonali.. But love was a scary word and he refused to say it. After all, what if she didn't love him... And by her being with Attor... that just made it all the more real. She didn't love him. And that was ok... She would eventually... 14 was too young to be in love... right? He frowned at that thought. Maybe he just had deep friendship for Von... But that didn't stop him from wanting to touch her boobs... Wasn't that love? He grinned at her. "Only because the little cry babies complain that i cheat... Which i don't... They just don't get it... "

He took the half deck back from her once she did it and gave her her cards. He was playing dealer. He gave her half a pout. "Now my manly pride is hurt." He smirked. "You must let me win now... its the only way to right this wrong.." So... she wasn't going to win anyway... but know he had a legitimate excuse to not hurt her feelings.

He frowned at her outburst. "No? I must be behind the times then... I haven't talked to him in a while... You were dating him though right? Or did i somehow make that up?" He pulled three of his cards and put them face down expecting her to do something similar.

He laughed. "Aha... sorry about that... lets start over..." He reached out for her cards and shuffled the deck turning it over. "To start a game you need an anti piece... Have you heard the saying its time to Anti up? This is where it comes from... your anti piece is the piece you use to start... usually its one dollar when betting money... thus...one jelly bean." He pointed to his bean and then the one in her hand. "Now im the dealer... I will give you 5 cards. This is your hand..." He dealt out a hand and flipped the cards. "Perfect... This is a full house... See how you have a pair and three of a kind... Either of those works by themselves and yet is better together."

Ursula liked his cockiness. It made him funny. Not to mention, it made him easier to look at knowing that he had some sort of confidence. There definitely wasn't anything more unattractive than a wishy-washy, meager guy. Types like those Ursula just ended up stomping over. "Oh, aren't we confident of our poker skills?" She laughed, pushing back some of her curls away from her face. "I hope you can back that talk, Kenny," Ursula batted her eyelashes at him and feigned an innocent smile.

"Oh, I wouldn't dare hurt your man pride," Ursula purred, making sure her hand brushed his as he reached for the cards. "I'll give you a handicap to save your ego," She retorted, her competitive side getting the best of her. In all likeliness, she would end up losing miserably to him... But why not do a little dance in the process?

Ursula gave a soft sigh when Kenny continued to talk about Dorian. "Yes, I dated him third year," she responded dryly with a shrug. Again, she didn't want to talk about it. She didn't want to even think about it... How he, on the first day of school despite having broken up, decorated her bed with roses and chocolates... Or how on Valentine's Day, he took advantage of her with a love potion... Just the memory of it all just made her feel excessively violated. In fact, she wanted to go hop in the shower.

Thankfully, they returned to poker. "Thank you," she responded when Kenny explained the rules better. "Does that count as my win then?" She inquired, leaning in towards him with a pleasant smile. If it did then... "I like not lifting a finger and still beating you," she retorted as she leaned back from him with a victorious smirk on her face.

Kenny laughed softly. "In the 4 years ive been here...I have lost one game... and that was to my friend Sarge... He moved after first year though..." He watched her and then grinned. "I wouldn't say it if i knew it wasn't true. This is where the whole... its really a shame you don't know about me... comes in. most students no longer play poker against me."

He smirked at her purr and he didn't miss that their hands touched. What on earth did this girl want from him. Everyone knew he had the hots for Vonali... so it was probably not that. "I would hope not... at least not on purpose... " He smirked. "Alright.. .I get seven cards and you only get three? Id like to see you make a straight with that."

He could tell she didn't want to talk about him so he simply nodded his head. "Alright... " After all, he would likely act the same if anyone asked about Von... no... he may very well knock their lights out for poking him about it... especially if it was one of the guys that knew that Von was with Attor.

He laughed. "No this is a tutorial of sorts... plus you only get three cards remember?" He gave her a grin that went to his eyes and he dealt another hand. "Now this is a bad hand, see how nothing matches and nothing seems to go together. Thats when you say you want three cards... You pick out the lowest cards or the cards you feel are least likely to be matched... and then you get three more... " He dealt three more cars after removing three. "Alright... next are straights and flushes Straights.... are when you get five cards in a row..." He pulled a few cards and put them in order. "See... and then a flush is when you have all the same suit..." He showed her an example of random cards all the same suit. "Ok?... now a straight flush is when you have a run of cards... and the same suit... "

Ursula shrugged, "I wouldn't know him. I moved from Durmstrang third year," Ursula explained, wondering for the briefest moment who this Serge was. He's the only one who's mentioned him... She even wracked her brain a little bit, going through the few names she actually knew, and still nothing came up. "I'm sorry that he moved," she felt obligated to say. It made her think about the people she left behind... For example, the dimwit who ended up getting her expelled.

His overwhelming confidence didn't cease to amuse Ursula, even when it seemed like he was being boastful. "Oh, that's a shame... They're bound to get lucky sometime and when they do that, they get bragging rights," Ursula pointed out, flipping a stubborn curl out of her face. A second later, it swung back down to her face. It made her regret chopping off her long hair just to piss off her mother... but just a tiny bit.

On another note, she was relieved that Kenny dropped the topic of Dorian... and even more thankful that he was someone who could get a clue about that sort of thing. In all fairness, Ursula could probably have asked about that busty Slytherin girl but she didn't. That would lead to more questions about Dorian in the long run...

"Mm... I think you just don't like losing," Ursula responded, leaning in towards him with a smirk on her face. She waved her hand for him to continue and she watched through thick lashes as he moved around the cards. "I see..."

As she spoke, Ursula glanced up and noticed one of the Heads walking through the main hall, ushering some of the kids out and back to their common rooms. "Oh, how lucky for you," she said with a playful grin, using one of her hands to gather up the jelly beans. "You were so close to being knocked down a peg..." Her voice was velvety as she plopped his jellybeans back into his bag, her light green eyes meeting his.

"Walk me to my common room?" Ursula suggested, watching Kenny thoughtfully with his cards.

"Thats too bad... Im sure you would have liked him... He was the best brother i could have asked for." Kenny lived by the saying, friends are the family you are allowed to pick. No he didn't have family issues... he just had always wanted a brother and his neighbor growing up had been that for him. He shrugged. "Life happens... so you moved from Durmstrang? I always thought that was an all boys school?" He frowned and shrugged. "What made you want to move here instead?"

Kenny grinned. "ah...but until the day my sister decides to pick up cards again... I get to claim best poker player here at Hogwarts... Since everyone else is too chicken to play." He watched her mess with her hair a moment before finishing up his details about the game."Nah... i don't...but that has something to do with my manly pride... im sure of it."

Kennedy laughed seeing the same. "You are right, im sure... I bet you could have taken me for all this candy here." He pushed the still wrapped candy toward her. "Next time we will see for sure who gets the winning hand." He nodded and stood up pulling his wand to sweep the jelly beans onto a discarded plate. He didn't want yucky jellybeans and he wasn't going to force them off on Ursula.

Kenny smiled and scooped up his cards righting them and slipping them into their box. "Oh...I don't know... are your friends going to corner my down the hallway before i can run back to my dungeons?" his eyes glittered and it was obvious he was joking. He would never say no to a direct request from a girl. Not one he could easily do for her.

Ursula let out a bitter laugh when Kenny asked about Durmstrang being an all boy's school. "It does appear like that, doesn't it?" Ursula gave a tight smile, "Their Headmaster is a sexist pig," she said in a light and melodic voice--quite contrary to the words she spoke. The boy who managed to get her expelled had dragged her into his cheating scheme and though he was expelled at the time, Ursula heard he was readmitted as soon as her father turned his attention elsewhere. Cowards... "He loves his little pureblood boys a bit too much, if you ask me." Ursula pushed back that one piece of her stubborn hair again as she glanced towards Kenny, curious to his reaction.

"It's rainier here," Ursula responded dully, a covert smile on her face. It was obviously a dodged question--her expulsion was kept very quiet.

So he has a sister... "Oh? Your sister is better than you?" Ursula couldn't help but smile at that fact. He seemed like the type that would find losing insufferable... and to his sister, no less. "You really do like this man-pride of yours," Ursula observed with a soft laugh, leaning into the side of the table.

"I'm not sure if I want that candy," Ursula responded with a skeptical look at all the jelly beans. "I'm not the biggest fan of table sweets," she laughed, "Especially not Slytherin table sweets," she teased, very much aware of the silly little feud Slytherins and Gryffindors were supposed to have going on.

"Oh, I wouldn't have taken you as a guy to run away from a fight," Ursula taunted, batting her eyes at him before picking up her backpack and heading towards the door. She twirled on her heel to face him, her blonde curls bouncing, "Are you coming? Or are you too scared?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 12, 2013 6:25 am

Kenny raised an eyebrow. "Then it has to be a good thing you got out of there." Kennedy watched her and the way she said that last line made him think of the Catholic church boys. He gave an uneasy laugh and shook his head. "Oh yeah... because rain makes the home now doesn't it?" It was obvious he didn't believe her but he let it go. He knew she was dodging the real issue which put together in his mind it wasn't something good that she didn't want to relive.

Kenny laughed. "Yeah, hands down... I taught her... and she went above and beyond." He laughed. "Actually... no its more of general pride... I have no pride for my fellow men... Now women... they have something to be proud of."

He shrugged when she said she didn't want it. He gathered everything but the beans and slipped them into his bag. "Fine... but its only the best of Honeydukes." He shrugged. "And its actually Hufflepuff Candy... Just won it today." He laughed. "No im not... just rather not put myself in to position to fight... Fighting over nothing is as stupid as flying blindfolded." Something kenny and Serge had done a few times. He followed her and flashed her a grin as she tried to poke him. "Only of you if i say no." He smirked and walked beside her.

Ursula let out a true laugh at Kenny's response. So he isn't brainwashed by a pretty face--that's good to know... "Oh, very astute of you," she matched his smirk and beckoned him again to follow her. Granted I'm not being the sweetest thing right now, Ursula liked to flirt but she definitely wasn't afraid of hurting anyone's feelings.... which she didn't think was a bad thing, even if some people didn't appreciate it.

The professor watched as they exited the room and ordered them to be prompt about making their way to their common rooms. Ursula politely nodded even though she completely disregarded what the professor said--and they knew it too. Why would the girl who was expelled from Durmstrang start listening to rules now?

As they walked towards the Gryffindor tower, Ursula enjoyed the decorum. At this time of night, Hogwarts was barely lit... it was very spooky and Ursula loved the effect that had on her. The flickering shadows and the echoing hallways....

Hmm... is that breathing I hear? It could just be her imagination of course. Ursula turned the corner and stopped, glancing at Kenny. "I'm taking you're not dating her after all...?" She gently asked, glancing at the two snogging teens. They were very much absorbed with each other and in this darkness, she doubted they would see them so Ursula positioned her body in between Kenny and the snoggers. At least I hope they're not dating... Not because she was interested in Kenny but she loathed cheaters. Ursula's done some stupid s**t and played with feelings but she would rather break things off entirely than to cheat. Hell, she knew how trust issues went so why would she make someone else go through that?
PostPosted: Fri Jul 12, 2013 7:22 am

No... he had lots of soft spots for pretty faces. But you couldn't just have a pretty face... you needed to know how to use that pretty face. Which he was coming to see that Ursula knew how to use her pretty face. He tipped his head in acknowledgement. Astute was something kenny prided himself in. After all, you couldn't be good at poker if you weren't.

Kenny nodded to the professor but ignored them. He would take as much time as he needed. Detention was detention... no fears. He walked in companionable silence. It was never fun to walk alone. So even though he needed to be headed to the dungeons he was taking the time to go up first.

However he froze as they rounded the corner. His jaw locked and his eyes turned to ice. That was Kenny and Von last year... and she had just replaced him that easily. He and Attor were friends. And thats how this worked ok. They wanted her for themselves and if she wasn't dating him, he would rather her be with Attor then some other random guy. He took a breath and wlked past the couple. "No... im not..." He continued and once he got out of that hall he frowned. It was obviously upsetting him more then he was trying to let on.

Ursula had to quicken her pace to keep up with Kenny as he walked past the snogging couple. Her eyes glanced at them for a split second as she passed but beyond that, Ursula kept her focus on forward... Mostly not to draw unnecessary attention to Kenny.... Who did not look very happy... at all. In fact, the expression he had on his face was similar to the expression she'd seen on her mother countless times.

Once they cleared the hallway, Ursula tapped Kenny's shoulder for his attention. "Let's do something fun," she suggested, feeling a sympathy towards Kenny... a sympathy she never felt towards her mother... Perhaps it was because Kenny was pining after someone and not staying with them regardless of their cheating. "I've wanted to explore the Forbidden Forest for a while now," she told him with a sweet and innocent smile, batting her lashes at him. "And I'm going to do it whether or not you come with me..." she poked his chest with her finger. "So now that you know that... are you going to let a girl go somewhere so dangerous instead of doing the responsible thing and coming with her?" Ursula took a step closer to him and tilted her head up towards him.

"Just to make sure she doesn't get into any trouble?" Ursula purred, stepping away. "I'll meet you down at lower entrance in five," she twirled away, walking up the stairs towards the common room, taking a glance back to give Kenny a smirk as she did.
