The warning bells rang, and as Kleos watched her wing took to the skies. Frustration surged through her, through Moriath, but she was not yet healed enough to fight and Moriath... Moriath couldn't even take to the sky. Kleos cleared her throat and turned to the assembled volunteers. "Alright! Everyone get to your posts. I want people ready with sacks of stone, and know where the buckets by the troughs of water are! If Thread gets through and touches the ground in the immediate area we must drown it to keep the ground clear for refuelling riders. Those of you with firelizards have them ready if they will answer, have them ready to fly out and flame if Thread is falling towards somebody outside. Watcher volunteers to the edge of the shelter, eyes on the sky! Any questions?" Quote: Information- Those who are running stone out must make one post running out and another coming back. Roll 1d20 on your 'out from cover' post. If you roll a 1 something bad happens to you of your choice, from falling over to fumbling the pass of a sack to a rider, to a stray whisp of Thread dropping onto you! - Anyone who has taken on the roll or Watcher may roll 1d20 in any of their posts. On the roll of 20 they spot a small piece of live thread falling to the ground. - Anyone who is outside when a piece of Thread is spotted must roll 2d20. If you roll a total of 3 or less you either injure yourself, either trying to get back under cover or actually getting scored! Only the first person to roll less than 3 and chose scoring can get scored. Once all people outside have rolled the Thread hits the ground. - If Thread touches you, you're going to want to jump into one of the troughs of water in your next post to avoid being eaten alive. Roll 1d10 to see how bad the damage is, 1 is not too bad, 10 is bad but it's up to you just how bad. - If you want you can forego dicerolls and assume something bad happened to you, but again it's first come first served with getting hit by Thread - If nobody was hit by the Thread people will need to run out and drown it! Grab a bucket, fill it from the troughs, throw it on the Thread with a roll of 1d10. Thread has 25HP, keep dousing until it dies! - If you have any questions or none of this makes sense poke me. - Post etiquette for this Thread is simply don't double post the same character, and don't post again with the same character until at least two other people have made a post or two hours have passed.

(roling for both, with permission, first dice is for Phasianth, second dice is for Becka)
Becka was terrified, even with the comforting (and growing) bulk of her Blue dragon just a few steps away, crooning at her as she filled a firestone sack. Thread was falling, she paused for a couple of heartbeats, watching as dragons flamed above and shuddered, she wasn't looking forward to being up there among them when Phasianth matured. However the blue was slightly more eager though supportive of Becka, this was his chance to keep a look out, perched on his back were the very smelly firelizards that belonged to Becka (and him) they reeked of the firestone they'd chewed earlier small pebble sized bits.
he said excitedly to both Becka and Wingleader Kleos, he wanted to be helpful despite that having him out here made Becka nervous, she didn't want him to get hurt but at least he was somewhere she could see him, over near the edge of the shelter, thankfully large enough to accommodate him.
Becka finished filling her sack while she waited for the call for more firestone and was just about done when the call came. She jumped a little and left the almost filled one near the firestone pile, grabbing one of the filled sacks and running out,. sending one quick check along their link to Phasianth to make sure he wasn't alarmed as she ran past him and out towards where a rider was just landing to receive his replenishment of the firestone.

((First dice is for Nimith, second is for C'ross))
"Keep your eye on the sky, and if you see anything, sound the alarm," C'ross told Nimith. Better a false alarm than a Threadscored weyrling. The blue was visibly agitated; he'd bugled a challenge at the sky when the warnings of Threadfall first circulated around the weyr, perhaps responding to whatever ingrained instinct made dragons hate the skyborne filaments so fiercely. But he'd settled quickly enough back into his usual disciplined mien, and now he stood tall and still at C'ross' side.
Soon, he told Nimith in silent reassurance. Soon enough you and I will be up there too. For now, we help in whatever way we can.
I won't let you down, Nimith agreed, meeting his eyes with a green-golden gaze.
C'ross finished filling a firestone sack and tossed it easily over his shoulder, mindful of Kleos' warning not to take two at a time. He was fast - he'd be able to make it, even with Thread encroaching overhead. And he would have Nimith watching his back.
Overhead, a green swept daringly low, pursuing a hefty clump of half-charred Thread. C'ross could feel Nimith's touch of warning in his mind, and he braced himself to race out of the way - but the green dragon seared away the last of it, leaving only harmless ash to flutter to the ground. The greenrider landed, and C'ross handed up the sack of firestone to her with a call of "Good shot!" As for the rider, she grinned and saluted before taking off again with her replenished firestone.

(First die is Poth, second is T'lon. correct dice roll below)
T'lon and Poth had answered the call for helpers as soon as word was put out. They heard their instructions and decided to divide the work, with Poth taking the roll of watcher and T'lon of runner. It seemed other weyrling pairs had the same idea. It makes sense, Poth told T'lon. We don't have hands to carry the stone with. We may as well use our eyes.
It does, he agreed. Just make sure you protect yourself along with everyone else. He also whistled "be ready" to his two firelizards. Disciplined brown Echo was perched on Poth's back, ready to answer any instruction from T'lon or Poth. Energetic blue Piper was flitting around a bit, but he trilled to show he'd heard and understood.
Satisfied, Poth nodded and hauled up a sack of firestone. He waited until he saw a dragon swooping down for stone, then dashed out to hand his sack up to the rider. As soon as it was out of his hands, he turned to head back to the shelter.

Phasianth watched carefully, he was doing a good job, yes he was, he was keeping everyone safe by watching out for Thread, He screech/bugled his funny, loud call as a clump headed towards C'ross but as it turned out his call wasn't needed as a Green seared it to ash before it could come close to falling on the blue rider. he said cheerily enough to the other blue.
He watched as C'ross and Becka fled back towards the shelter for more sacks. There were others of course but he paid the most attention to His of course.

Becka was now too busy to really think much about anything, there were dragons coming in now a little more regularly for firestone and she, and the other weyrlings and helpers were rushed to go backwards and forwards, she'd rushed back after a second delivery to a waiting rider and had to wait a few heartbeats longer than she wanted to as someone finished filling a sack. She grabbed it and ran back out, checking with Phasianth that nothing was coming at her as she ran to a waiting blue and his rider. She wasn't strong enough to toss the sack up at him but she did her best.

((First dice Nimith, second dice C'ross))
Another close call - this time a black caught the Thread before it hit the ground. Still, two close calls in a row was enough to make Nimith tense up anxiously as he watched the sky. If only he could chew firestone himself to help out... His claws furrowed the dirt and his tail lashed behind him, but his eyes stayed on the sky.
We will be vigilant. Our riders are counting on us, he agreed with Phasianth.
The sacks were heavy, but nothing that C'ross couldn't handle. He threw another one over his shoulder and raced out into the open once Nimith gave him the all-clear, tossing the firestone up to a landing brownrider.

[[First is Ellibreth, second is I'saak.]]
Threadfall. I’saak was afraid – though no more afraid than he had been when he had been left alone while his weyrling classmates set off on dangerous missions to Benden and Malvren. At least this time he could see them, and he could help them – as concerned as he had been, so much of his fear had come not from what his friends were doing, but from not being able to help them if they needed it.
And this was what he would be doing for the rest of his life – running firestone, and then eventually chasing Thread. It made his stomach twist uneasily as he watched the adult dragons take to the skies, but his dragon’s gentle reassurance had snapped him out of it.
At least filling sacks of firestone and running them had a feeling of comfortable familiarity. I’saak had grown up at the Smithcraft Hall, had spent turns as an apprentice running sacks of coal to the forge. The premise was the same, and though the young man was fairly confident he would have been able to handle two bags, he took Kleos’ advice, desperate not to appear a showoff. A blackrider appeared from between, uncomfortably low for anyone whose dragon didn’t have the same where-sense, and I’saak was running, bag in hand, to make a delivery. And then back, head down, focused only on the task at hand.
Ellibreth, meanwhile, took her place beside her brothers and sister. Squeezing comfortably between Poth and Nimith, she nestled herself close to her blue brother and twined her tail with his as she cast her muzzle skywards. I want to flame it, she remarked quietly, staring at the sky with red-tinged eyes as she watched her elder kin dash after the old enemy. I want to burn all of it.

T'lon
T'lon stayed under cover only long enough to grab a new sack and hoist it to his shoulder. Then he was back out in the open, heading for another dragon who had just landed. He'd been in weyrs long enough to know that very little Thread actually escaped the dragons, despite what holders feared. Staying inside was more of a precaution, and having solid stone or metal between you and skies clouded with Thread certainly made one feel safer. But he had little fear of heading out into the open long enough to hand his burden to the waiting rider and accept the empty sack. That done, he turned and headed back for a fresh sack once more.

Poth scanned the skies as Hers ran back and forth. She wanted to watch him, make sure he was safe, but she'd been told looking up and keeping an eye out for Thread would keep him safer. And there was always little Echo to watch Hers. She was fond of the brown for being so devoted to Hers and helping him whenever he needed.
She kind of liked watching out. It let her be useful without having to move around too much. It would be best of all to be able to flame Thread of course, every dragon yearned to do that as soon as Thread was near. But she was too young to flame and fly yet, so this was the next best thing.

Riders flying the fall may appear in this RP to refuel if they wish!
Post however you like now, other than double posts with the same character.
-----------------
As the first wave ended Malcarreth signalled their wingsecond and dropped down to pick up fresh supplies of firestone, chest heaving. C'tis paused to swipe ash off his goggles as they landed and sat up straight for the first time since lifting off... how ever long ago that had been. He spotted Becka among those helping with the firestone and spared her a nod, not that he had any idea if she'd even notice or not. He'd nothing against her, and the fact that she was out here of her own free will was... well it was something anyway.
"Need stone over here!" he called, probably unnecessarily but it was his first time doing this and the last thing he wanted was to be waiting around here looking stupid.

Becka was filling up more sacks to pass onto others running out since she'd been a little winded and had traded running for loading for a few minutes to catch her breath. She heard an all too familiar voice call out for firestone and she glanced round to see if anyone was running out but most of the runners were on their way back. So, taking a deep breath she grabbed the sack she'd just filled and ran out to the bluerider. She was oblivious about the first wave of threadfall ending and just assumed he was catching his breath the same as she'd been in the shelter, she scurried out of the shelter, and handed the sack to him, her Healer training kicking in "How many injured?" she asked him, unable to help herself and finding nothing at all to even TRY and make regular conversation about, no point when thread was falling.

Kleos - Thread watcher.
She felt as though if she couldn't fly she should at least be running stone out but her injuries would not allow it. Watching the skies was cold comfort when she thought of her comrades, saw them land to take on fresh stone some of them with scores. There were no death cries however, not yet and for that she was grateful. It was the new graduates she feared for most, she should be there for them... but K'tar was a competent man, and Vorith a fine and experienced dragon.
Up on her shoulder Ice shivered and keened, eyes whirling yellow and red as he stared up at the sky. Nothing coming for them, not that he saw, but the danger was close!
Kleos shivered in sympathy with her pet and shaded her eyes to look up. The wings were falling back into rest formations, the first wave must have passed. "Be ready for a rush! The first wave is over, we will have lots of riders to fuel in these few minutes!" And here came the first of them, one of the recent graduates. The young man was trouble, rude, and reckless but she was glad to see him and his miniature blue unhurt.

C'tis tossed his empty sack to the ground and grabbed the fresh one from Becka, swinging it into place and securing it with a grunt of effort. Shards, he was tired and he hadn't even been doing anything other than pass stone, hold on, and watch for Thread and other dragons!
"Shaffed if I know!" he yanked a rag out of one of his pockets and gave his goggles another wipe to clear them. Once this was done he opened the stone sack and passed a couple of pieces to Malcarreth while they were still on the ground. "Nobody's dead though and nobody's dropped out of Dauntless' formation, that's all I know." With that message passed on his fumbled the water skin off his belt that he had been advised to keep with him and drained the whole thing, quite a lot ran down his face but he was in a hurry and sharding hot anyway. With the skin emptied he wiped his mouth with the rag he'd used to clean his goggles and held the empty skin down to Becka. "Would you? Probably want it again next we land, next wave's coming in any second!" Shards, he wasn't sure if he was keen to get back up there or if he just wanted to flee and never look back. He definitely wanted to be sick but fortunately having not eaten since early in the morning he had nothing to be sick with.
