Hugbell had been sitting on the swings minding her own business, Barnaby beside her when a Youma showed up. The child was staring at the monster almost a little unsure of why it was even there. Not to mention it was almost a sort of monster like a Sphinx. Rather creepy in her opinion and pint-sized like her, it must've been a baby youma.
The chibi was unaware that anyone else was around her besides the youma. Which for the moment seemed to be considering its options. To go for the child or the larger adult, Dani; and in the end it seemed the monster wanted the adult first and the child for a snack as it ran towards the older lady.
Hugbell squeaked when she noticed, the civilian. "HEY WATCH OUT!" She cried as she ran after the Sphnix youma and aimed a well placed kick at it's hindleg.

Maybe she should have realized something was off about the day when she was actually able to squeeze in a bowl of cereal before her shift started that morning. In retrospect, that elusive slow, lazy start to her hectic schedule should have really tipped her off that something was going to blow up in her face.
In the moment everything occurred though, Danika was far more focused on her cell and a recent text she'd received. Banter with a classmate from the previous semester about what classes they were signed up for next. Complaints about their shared professor. Disbelief at the lack of effort a few of their peers had put into their final designs for the class. The usual, the fun. She barely even recognized a kid on the swings, her attention was so focused on her text conversation.
When the yellow-clad child called out to her though, and a mass of tan was barreling down towards her, then Danika raised red irises to the rest of the world she'd chosen to ignore in favor of happy thoughts.
Her heels clicked to a halt, eyes wide as they took in the part lion, part human beast. A... Sphinx? In Destiny City? Shouldn't there be some rule against this? Like, say, logic? Said logic--and survival instinct--shoved the young woman backwards, scrambling to get away from the creature. Only to once again pause, seeing the kid go after the monster. "What the hell are you doing? Leave it alone and let the cops deal with it! Guns beat kicks!" She had her cell in hand. Danika was just about to call them. Really. Any second now.

Hugbell shot a glare at the civilian. "You can't call the cops for a youma. The guns won't do anything against this." She said as she jumped back when the sphinx tried to claw her. The skirt of her fuka getting torn a little as she aimed another kick at the beast.
Squeaking a little when it opened it's mouth trying to bite her with the rows and rows of teeth, she was in between the civilian and the youma now so the woman could see when the beast opened it's jaws that it was no normal sphinx mouth.
"Get out of here before it eats your starseed. I've got this!" She said to the woman behind her as she pulled out her bear throwing it at the sphinx's mouth. "Teddy Comfy Catches!" She called and the bear began to grow while inside the youma's mouth. That'd keep it busy for a bit, Hugbell took her chance to aim a punch at the monster's side.

"What's a youma?"
Asking questions in the middle of trouble was what stock unnamed characters and idiots about to be killed did in all the comics. Unfortunately, that was exactly what Danika found herself doing, staring between the yellow-clad child and the sphinx.
Was this kid... seriously fighting a monster? Was this some school show? Had Danika fallen asleep and no one told her she was dreaming? Well that weird mouth the sphinx sported helped lean her towards the dreaming aspect. All the better to devour you, my dear came to her mind, making her gag.
"You shouldn't have anything you're just a--" Before she could finish that sentence, or grab a hold of the girl's arm like she tried to, she was stunned to see the teddy bear not just thrown into the maw of the beast, but it grew. "--magical fighter. Uh..." She expected more leather and black. Not.... fluff and yellow.
For a moment, she just stood there. Shell shocked and feeling like an idiot. Starseed? Monster? Little girl fighting? The mere idea of running rubbed Danika the very wrong way, but... what other option did she really have here..? "There is... so much wrong with this scene." she mumbled before her heels clicked against the ground once more. Not in retreat. Instead, she rounded to where the girl stood, punching the creature in the side. Danika landed a spiky heeled kick to the creature's ribcage, cursing as she did so.
...how exactly did she manage to do less apparent damage than a kid?

Hugbell couldn't help but look annoyed at the civilian. It was bad enough the senshi didn't take the kid seriously sometimes but... "Fine you can help, just avoid it's mouth and be careful. You're not as strong if you don't have a fuku, it's why senshi and knights handle this sort of thing."
The teddy bear now the size of a mattress kept the creature busy as it filled it's mouth. Granted poor Barnaby was going to get eaten again. As the jaws of the sphinx closed on him a few times before having enough impact to make the bear shrink. "Stupid Youma." The child in the bear hoodie aimed a well placed kick for the monster's jaw hoping to maybe knock it from it's place so that at least they wouldn't have to worry about that.
The Sphinx's fur started the fluff like a normal cat getting pissed off. "Seriously though this thing is a youma." The child jumped back a bit before zipping to the other side, she seemed as if she could run faster than normal kids if Dani paid attention. "They're monsters or pets of the negaverse, depends on how you look at it and if one belongs to an agent or not." She shrugged.
"But seriously I have this, please try to stay away from it's claws and if you're going to help find something sharp and pointy beside's your shoes okay? They bust into dust clouds when they're beaten down enough." The kid could at least explain youmas if the civilian was going to listen to her but Hugbell wasn't sure the lady was listening too much to anything a kid had to say.

The fact a yellow clad, stuffed bear toting pre-teen was scolding her to let her handle the monster was... offending. Offending on many, many levels. Danika kept her frustration from her face, standing back again from the fight as the overgrown bear was shrunk down to proper, why doesn't the monster just rip its stuffing out, size. Negaverse..? Minion-pets? Ok, that was probably the most easily accepted part of this whole thing. "They are..? Court of Owls? Black Lantern Corps? League of Assassins?" Her main form of references, anyways. She couldn't help but feel a spike of intrigue though. Monsters. And a group that flings them out? Yeah sure, she'll hear more about that.
Danika's kick had done next to nothing. Nothing. Yet there this kid was, shrugging and acting like this monster wasn't, y'know, a relatively big creature with rather sharp fangs. Oh and, not natural. Hearing the girl comment about how she needed to fight with something sharper than her shoe made the corner of her eye twitch before she just... laughed. Danika laughed. "Alright, alright. I get it, kiddo. Adult ain't needed." Her pride stung, but Danika's face was nothing but smiles and laughter. Shoving her hands into her pants' pockets, she turned on her high-heels and shrugged herself. If the kid was just going to keep berating her with that same bit of, I can handle it then by all means.
"I'm no Superman."
Danika certainly wasn't cocky enough to call herself Batman, either. Especially as she turned her back away from the fight after a few more inwardly reluctant steps back.
Yeah, she should have known today would be up to something.
The snarl was at her heels, the claws at her back, before she'd even made ten feet. The creature had wizened up. Why keep going after the capable fighter when a far easier target was right there? Defenses down, walking away.
Danika hit the ground with a shout, landing on her knees with a jolt while her hands were clutched around her ducked head. She could feel the creature's claws beginning to puncture her leather jacket, and as she turtle'd right on up, she was aware that seriously any second, those fangs were going to come right on down on her head. She threw one elbow back into the creature's rib-cage--she quickly lost count, only focused on slamming into it with everything she could muster--earning a yowl and enough room to scurry forward out from under its rather painful claws and weight. Moment she could, she whirled back onto her butt, slamming her sharp heel right into the creature's throat. Another yowl--choked, slightly--but the creature didn't look especially fazed by her hits. It just looked pissed.
Pissed that a grown woman was throwing all her weight into kicks and punches, and it was doing less damage than a pre-teen. A little girl who was telling off an adult about how she could "handle it."
Danika didn't get frantic or frenzied. Redirected, bottled until properly vented on a hockey puck or some of her art. But not rage in the moment. Never was her style. And yet. Something... snapped. In a fit, she kept slamming her foot into the creature's face, harder and harder and ignoring how it was trying to slash her with its claws. For a moment, Danika Teresi saw red.
And that red stayed. Condensed. Fueled. Grew. Expanded. A fragment broke away, and Danika stared with wide eyes as a trinket materialized in the air between her and the creature. Just... appeared. Silver chain and red droplet hanging from one end. An earring, she realized as her hand closed around it. Reached for it in a heartbeat, drawn by awe to the random object. When a random thing appears to you in the middle of the air, you really are supposed to just grab it. Like the Lanterns' rings.
s**t just appears when it needs to.
The red expanded. Compounded. Flared. Condensed. Danika wasn't Danika anymore. Her heel hit one more time in the creature's face, and this time it did noticeably more damage. Even if Danika wasn't sure why her pretty shoes were now heeled sandals. And um. That red toga-dress was not what she put on in the morning. "Holy s**t." Yeah, she wasn't Superman, that was for damn sure.

Hugbell had gone to try to help but she'd been a second too slow the monster had gotten to Danika, and Hugbell was trying to pull it off by it's tail. Pity that it wanted the weaker of the two. The chibi senshi seemed a little puzzled, because normally a powered star--- oh. She watched as Danika transformed.
"Oh good, a Knight. Now you can beat him!" She said cheerily. Well admittedly Danika could've helped if only the girl had gotten something like a bat. Especially after Hugbell saw that display of kicking the snozzleberries out of that youma.
She grinned, "Maybe if we hit him at the same time we can dust him without too much more of a struggle!" The child seemed hopeful. "The Negaverse is also more like... uh.... Assassins. . . I think." She said with a nod, some of the references going over her head as she hadn't quite read too many comic books.

Knight? A knight. Danika found herself grinning, one hand playing with the earring on her left ear that had, seconds before, been hanging in the air. That was all the difference in being Lois Lane and... whatever she was now? There was something both really cool, and really a ripoff, about that.
As the kid pulled the youma away from her, the knight threw a wicked grin her way. League of Assassins? Hey, she wasn't Batman, either, but she could make it work. The youma was snarling at them both, and the young woman scrambled to her feet in a new vigor. Her hands grazed the black leather over her chest, before toying with the metal bracers on her arms. This was... kinda cool. Moving in a bit closer to the creature, her hands balled into fists. Red eyes flickered up to yellow, the grin still in place. Hit him at once, huh? Pulling back one fist, she hoped she made it clear what her intent was on this. "One..." She flicked her gaze back down to the youma. "Two..."

"Three!" Hugbell hit the youma with all her might at the same time Danika threw her punch.
Watching the Youma bust into a million partials with a final yowl of pain. "Haha good job!" She said with a smile. "Honestly Civilians can help defeat them but they're a lot weaker."
She paused, "So what's your name?" She couldn't help but be curious over who the new knight actually was or where she was from. Hugbell knew a few knights but she was sure there were a lot more than whom she knew.

Her fist went right in time with the kid's. Just as the other had predicted, the thing erupted into dust. Just as quickly as it'd come to harass them... it was gone. She let out a low whistle, watching as the dust faded into the air. That was... pretty cool, she had to admit. No body to hide, no excuses to be made to police.
That was always something they skimped over in comics. The collateral damage and remains when the fights were over.
She only shrugged and smiled to the other's first comment once all was said and done, though the question caught her attention. "Themiscyra." The word--name, she guessed--was out of her mouth before she really thought about that. She figured she'd answer Danika not.... um. Wonder Woman's birthplace.
Her eyes traveled down to her bracers, fingers wrapping around the cool metal so her fingertips could graze the raised symbol present on both. And on her shoulder. And on her belt. And on her boots, she realized as she looked down. "Of... Mars." She blinked, and raised her eyes back to the other girl with a great deal of wonder. "Wait I'm a Martian?" But she was born right there in Destiny City! Her brow furrowed. "How do I know this?"

Hugbell nodded, "I'm Sailor Hugbell, senshi of Comfort." She paused as she pulled Barnaby from subspace or rather what was left of him. "This is Barnaby. My sidekick."
She paused as Themi asked how she knew that. "Well, in the past our starseeds were born on a different.... planet?" She paused, "Well not all of us have planets, my name's from a comet." She shrugged, "There's somethings that you don't forget... well I guess you forget them but when you're needed you remember them. . . Or like senshi you get woken up by a talking cat."
Hugbell was thinking on how to give a crash course to an adult, which made things odd for her. She knew sometimes adults weren't always the quickest believers even if they had magic in front of them. "I guess when the Youma attacked you, it was your time to come help!"

Senshi of.... Comfort? Red eyes darted down to the stuffed bear in the girl's arms. Suddenly made a bit more sense why she had the thing, and why her... er... thing had made it grow huge in the creature's mouth. What was more comfortable than a giant stuffed bear to snuggle with?
Or choke on.
Either or.
Deciding the girl was old enough to not require a direct greeting to Barnaby, she grinned and tried to focus on how Hugbell answered her later question. Only to have her brain instantly snag. Stutter. Restart. Hold up. "Star...seeds?" Hugbell had mentioned that word before. Something that the youma would eat. It was hard to comprehend what the younger girl was saying, but the elder female had a nice frame of reference. Comic books. Her brain switched, trying to comprehend what was going on in the scope of talking about some... fandom. Like this is all just some crazy LARP convention...
Talking cats were sort of the least of her concerns right now.
"How... so. I was... born... on Mars, is that what you're saying? Or this... starseed of mine?" She pointed to herself. Then to Hugbell. "And yours was... on this comet?" Starseeds... did not require bodies then? Or came with spacesuits?
