Silence. Azure frowned at the disappearance of the strange girl, she probably knew the way out. He gave one last glance at the mural, trying to commit it to memory and make sense of it. It wasn't going to help him get out of here, he knew that much. The male closed his eyes, trying to remember the movements he had made to get here, it was hard to recall since he had been focusing on following the light instead of paying attention to where he was going. Oh well. Azure felt tired and hungry as he began to walk down the hall in the direction he had come from, he knew that much. As he walked he looked for a holster to set his torch in, he wanted to lay down and get at least a quick nap in to rest, it would be hard to walk around in circles if he was already low on energy. Azure found a place to set his torch and curled up beneath it on the moss-covered floor. It was difficult to fall asleep, but he was exhausted, so he could only fight it off for so long. When Azure awoke he almost forgot he was in this place, and was surprised when he was not waking up in the cave he now lived in. Azure shook his head and watched the torch light dance on the walls. After a quick stretch he was back on his feet and wandering, wishing he had a piece of parchment to keep track of his turns. Finally, Azure got smart and started scraping moss off of the walls in a distinctive pattern so he could keep track of where he had gone. It always frustrated him when he would come across his pattern again. It felt like hours before he found a ladder, and he wasn't even sure if it was the same ladder he had gone down in, but if it led up, that was where he wanted to be. Azure emerged into the forest, the sun was high in the sky, the next day perhaps. The angel hadn't meant to be gone so long and he knew it would be past evening when he returned home, and he felt a twang of guilt for going off on an adventure with hardly a word. Azure stopped at the first bush with fruit that he recognized and sat down and gorged for a good amount of time, it had been awhile since he had the chance to stop and eat. When the blue boy was satisfied he continued in the direction of home until he was there. He almost tripped on the scroll that was waiting for him. Azure quickly opened it, and the quartz fell right into his hand. He squinted at it, another crystal? How strange. Azure had the feeling he was going to need a bigger pouch. He added it to his quickly growing collection before reading the parchment. Leypoint? Azure looked at his bag of crystals, was the crystal the leypoint or the place he had gotten it from? Azure shook his head, why would someone take his crystals, how would he even defend them? He had to reread the note several times there were so many questions coming to his mind. Templa temple... Azure's mind went to the mural on the wall. The carving did have a temple sort of vibe going on. Azure took a deep breath, it was all so confusing and difficult to take in and he just wanted to go inside and apologize to Dyas. Mother? That was the strangest thing of all... Azure didn't have a mother, he only had vague memories of when he was small, but he was certain there had never been a mother figure. By the end of the 10th reading Azure was certain that they leypoint was the location and the crystal was a crystal, the letter was clear that they were not the same, but that was the only answer he had. Azure took a deep breath and entered the cave, the letter clutched in his hand, he was going to explain the whole thing to Dyas, maybe she'd have an idea. "Dyas?" He called out. 'I'll be right back Dyas!' The words rang down the cave, reaching her sensitive years as she cleaned the kitchen. She blinked a few times before setting down the plate she was washing, and made her way towards the entrance. What was going on? But as she reached the end of the cave, he was no where to be seen. She popped her head out to look in either direction before jumping into the air for flight. Dyas moved higher and higher into the sky to try and get his location...in vain. There was no sign of Azure. Deeply frowning, the female glided back into the cave. Well, he said he would be right back. It had to be urgent, and the male wouldn't lie to her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or so she thought. As the minutes turned to hours the female began to pace the main entrance way, inwardly battling herself as to whether or not she should go out to see if Azure was in trouble. Her hesitance didn't come from fright; no she was often brave to a fault. But rather emasculating Azure by not allowing him to fight his own battles. Not that she thought he would really mind but...reading psychology books had a tendency of making one second guess themselves. Yet as the time continued to tick by, she became increasingly worried. If it really was a quick errand, he MUST be in trouble...or if not, he's going to be. The hybrid turned on her heel to make way for the exit, dual colored eyes flashing in determination. Right before they focused on a very familiar angelic. Azure! At once she was running to him, throwing her arms around the male as her body relaxed with relief. Then she remembered the time and she pulled back to look at him with a frown. This better be good.
Azure wrapped his arms around Dyas, melting into her hug. It was the longest they had been apart since being reunited. The blue boy wasn't even sure how long he had been gone, it had been easy to lose track of time, but it was more then he expected when he told Dyas he would be right back. He knew it too when Dyas pulled away, oh the look on her face. Azure was certainly in trouble. "I know, I am so sorry. I'll tell you everything, but lets get inside and sit down first. I am exhausted." Azure started. He had a perfectly good excuse, and it seemed that it had paid off, something Azure hadn't expected. He just wished that he could have warned Dyas ahead of time. "I guess you can read this while we walk." Quote: My Dearest Azure, You have successfully found your first leypoint. Remember this, because you will be locating the rest of them on Telrunya. Your crystals will help guide you. Your crystals are precious, so take good care of them, and do not let the adversary take them from you. Protect them at all costs. Use this quartz to help transmute the other crystal's energies and help you find the other leypoints. Each time you discover a new leypoint, return to Templa Temple. Each leypoint and crystal will become more perilous to discover, and the adversary will do everything he can to stop you, so be vigilant and stay strong, Azure! I know you can do it! ~ Mother Azure took her hand to walk back to their room while she read. It was kind of a weird place to start since it wasn't the beginning. Azure was worried that not knowing would drive her nuts as he waited to gather his energy before talking.
She hesitated for a moment before pulling back with a nod. The female could wait a little longer for his full explanation. As it was, she was content at the moment that he was simply back. The note however was something she hadn't expected. Where had he even gotten a hold of it? Curiously the female opened it as they started on their way, her eyebrows steadily rising the further she read. Leypoints? Crystals? His mother? That didn't seem right. The female didn't have even a quarter of the story but already her quick mind was working. She absentmindedly laced their fingers as she thought about the little information given. From what she knew growing up, Azure didn't have a mother figure in his life. Or at least, not one that he ever mentioned or brought around. To speak indirectly in such a matter was peculiar in itself. Not his real mother. Perhaps it was similar to the faun's Earthmother, as in a general term of protection and love. A Guardian seemed a likely candidate, since they looked after and cared for the pae'il like parents. But the signage of such was still strange...wouldn't they want to reveal was responsible for the message? Dyas was so deep in thought she barely noticed anything around her. Brainteasers like these were very rare, and she relished the chance to puzzle things out.
The male would turn to look at Dyas every once in a while as they walked, he was so sick of walking. He would see her facial expressions change as she worked and chewed through it. He had read the letter 10 or so times, so he knew it fairly well by this point. "It's signed from mother... I have no mother in my memories... that doesn't mean I don't have one though." Azure said when they reached their bed. He let go of Dyas hand only so that he might lay down in bed. "What about your mother?" Azure asked Dyas. It was the only other 'mother' Azure could think of.
Azure slid the tiny bag off of his shoulder before burying himself into his pillow. He opened the bag and pulled out the first crystal he had ever found, blue like him. "This is my crystal, my first crystal... it can heal pae. This mor-" Azure stopped, it wasn't the same day that he had left anymore. "When I left the cave, it was because the crystal had started glowing... its never done that before." Azure began, he closed his eyes, trying to visualize everything again, the early stuff already seemed foggy in his memories, so much had happened.
When the male spoke her pupils contracted and turned to look at him, snapping back into reality. She offered a quick smile just as a shadow slipped along the caves wall next to them. "I assumed as much. But I doubt a long lost mother would speak in such a way...It was warm and compassionate, but not regretful. There was no guilt. She would have wanted to say something else besides your mission because of so much time lost." Even if it was as small as a 'sorry' or 'youve grown'. The female looked down to read the message once more before they reached the room. As he went to lay down, she remained standing to keep the juices flowing. "As for Fre...I haven't spoken to her for a very long time...before we became official. So I doubt she knows about your relationship to her now as...a son." She blushed a little at the thought. As a son, that would mean they were married. But the thought didn't linger as Azure pulled out his crystal. Peculiar thing. The island was magic, just as pae, but she hadn't seen anything about magical crystals. Dyas moved closer to sit beside him on the bed, focused on the blue thing. "Interesting...according to the letter, you can use the quartz to transmute. So every Crystal may have a different ability." Then a new thought, a disturbing one. "The letter also said it would be perilous..." She didn't much want to continue the thought. Azure would know already from her mentioning it that she was worried. The crystals held obvious importance, and needed to be found. But if anything ever happened to him...she would be devastated.
When Dyas started speaking he was so thankful for her wisdom, what she said made perfect sense, it just wasn't something he had been able to think of himself. Azure pondered the signature some more as he lay in bed. So the person who signed it, wasn't really a mother, or his mother. Why would they sign so then? Azure tried to think in the way that Dyas did. What did a mother symbolize? Care... nurture... trust. It meant that someone was looking after him, he deduced.
He didn't even know what transmute meant when he had read the letter, "Hm... so then..." Azure pulled out the new crystal that he had been led to. "This one does something different." Azure hadn't figured it out yet or even tried to activate it in the same way he did the other. He and Dyas would have to test it out later, but after the story... and maybe outside.
"Oh Dyas..." he looked at her sadly. It was the hardest part of this, he had read about the danger as well and knew that it would bother her. It bothered him as well, what if something happened and he was never able to return to Dyas... ever. Azure pushed those thoughts from the back of my mind. "If each crystal I find grants me a new ability, then with each new crystal, its possible I will become more prepared for whatever... dangers... are out there." Azure sighed, his thoughts drifted momentarily back to the dragon that he had been told about. Azure had not thought it was possible that something like that existed on the isle, something dangerous, but it seemed highly possible that more was going on here then he had originally thought.
The female nodded, her eyes moving to look at the newest crystal. The fact that Azure didn't know what transmute meant never crossed her mind. She often forgot not many pae had access to the huge chunk of books from Headquarters. Thankfully Raken had moved out with them before it's destruction. "That ones ability may do as much harm as good however. Transmuting is tricky business...it may not be able to reverse the change it makes on the crystal." She spoke as her mind turned, trying to think of what possibilities it held. Perhaps it could combine crystals energies into a super power? Very useful. But as soon as her mind went down that new road, she pushed it from view. First and foremost was Azure's safety. If she was going to help -and help she would to her fullest ability- she wanted to be sure she wasn't helping Azure to his grave. The female reached out to place a hand on top of his, her face softening. "I...I know. I also know you have to do this...Whoever 'mother' is...is depending on you. With how serious this is to have a powerful enemy, it may effect all of Telrunya." Azure's crystals having an effect on the entire island? No pressure there at all. "I'm just concerned for you...Maybe you can train with my Father?" After said demonic felt better of course. But he had actually trained before to fight, and anything he had to offer would be an asset to the angel. Only problem being of course...that they hated each other.
"Tran... transmuting.. is a permanent change?" Azure asked his love, with curiousity. Azure was not used to Dyas talking this much, and it was making him concerned. "Hey Dyas, maybe you should switch to writing before you strain yourself." he suggested. Azure still held the same logic he had before that because his first crystal led him to the new one, that the new one had to be good. Azure eyes had widened at first at Dyas' next thought, he hadn't even thought about a bigger picture a part from finding new crystals and keeping them safe, now his eyes narrowed in deep concentration, weighing on the words and the letter.
"Leypoints..." Azure mumbled, still thinking. "Does this mean the locations are just as significant as the crystals?" He knew the first location was important since that was where he was supposed to go back to, but what other locations might this take him to? The whole idea of this being something important for the whole isle put a sudden weight on his shoulders that Azure hadn't been expecting. He placed a hand on his chest and took several deep and anxiety filled breaths. "I understand Dyas, and I am sorry that this might be something that will effect you as well. I couldn't not follow the light when it led me, I don't think I will be able to stop now either. I think you are right..." Azure added the last part begrudgingly, he hated to admit it, but Raken's help was sorely needed right now, as much as Dyas' logical help. "I need your father's help." Blech.
She prepped her shadow to speak again just as the male suggested the old pad of paper. A beautiful smile flashed on her lips and she let the shadow dissipate. At the moment she had been fine, showing little strain. But he was sweet to take care of her. Dyas reached out to the piece of charcoal and pad of paper, still laying near the bed. 'I've always thought it was, but the rules for the quartz may be different. I never really read into alchemy much, as we don't have any books on it. I've only really seen it referenced in other pieces of literature.' With the male agreeing to spar with her father...it lifted a heavy weight from her shoulders. Raken was the toughest pae in her family, as far as she knew. Azure would be much better off with a bit of help from him, then to strut off alone with no training what so ever. Dyas flashed a grateful smile, knowing he agreed partially to put her mind at ease. Now that the danger subject had been addressed, she felt more comfortable with dissecting what she could of the crystals and leypoints. 'Id imagine that they are significant. Since the letter says each will increase in difficulty, I would think it safe to assume the places were not randomized. They have to be able to defend and hide these precious crystals...otherwise they would have been found by now.' The thought briefly crossed her mind on whether or not she would be permitted to accompany him on his search. She may not be the best in terms of combat, but her intelligence could prove indispensable. But she hadn't been sent out to find the crystals, Azure had. It might be a task he had to do alone. 'I will be fine, as long as you are.' It was strange, talking...and writing this much in one go. She would be hard pressed to find another point of time she had conversed so freely. But with the opportunity to really think and puzzle things out, she was actually having fun. A terrible thought considering they were working on a matter which was potentially dangerous, however the hybrid couldn't help her nature. She loved learning, and right here she was discovering information not found in any book. Purely amazing.
Azure could only imagine learning combat with Raken. He could clearly imagine Raken taken advantage of the situation and beating Azure to a pulp for 'marrying' his daughter, in the name of learning of course. He nodded his head slowly at the words Dyas said, he was so thankful to have her logic to help him. "You have no idea how much it means to me to have your support on this Dyas, I know it is difficult. Believe me. It was hard for me to follow the light away from you, but I needed to know what was going on."
Azure took a deep breath, "I'll tell you the whole story as best as I can." Azure said.
He closed his eyes so he could visualize it, Dyas would have to get his attention if she wanted him to see what she wrote down. "It started with the crystal glowing, and then the light exploded! When I could see again... there was a bird... blue. It wasn't a real bird though, it was made of light... and it was small and fast and had a long, thin beak." Azure was being as detailed as possible, unsure of which facts were important and what Dyas would deduce from them.
"It took me north... I think. It must have because we passed by a location I was at right before I found you again. And then we were at... what I'm guessing is Templa Temple. You know, in the letter." Azure shook his head. "There was a hole... and, well, I kept following the light wherever it took me. It lead me to this painting on the wall... only it had more... layers to it." Azure wasn't sure how to describe it, it had been a masterpiece really. "When I pushed on it... it moved. And then there was a girl!" Azure had almost forgotten about the strange girl who had showed up. He wasn't sure if she was related to this or if she just happened to be there. "A child girl." Azure paused to open his eyes and look at Dyas. He needed to take a breath.
She was almost surprised at his gratitude, causing her to blink momentarily at him before leaning towards his form. Her lips brushed ever so softly against his forehead, as gentle as silk slipping over a surface. When she pulled back, she resumed her writing. 'No matter what you do, I will always support you.' Even if he said forget it to the mission he was given, she would back him up. That was love, true love. Dyas moved to lay beside him, snuggling up to the male as he begun his harrowing tale. It had all the makings of a great story, filled with mystery and suspense. To think...all this time there was a hidden puzzle right in the island. The female thought to herself, wondering how no one had stumbled across it yet. Perhaps it was the light which activated it, or perhaps it was the arrival of the...girl? 'What was a girl doing in the middle of a secret leypoint?' Dyas quickly wrote down. Certainly it was no place for a child. She could have been hurt or worse. 'Was she lost?'
Azure leaned over to read her piece of paper, he smiled when he read what she had written right after he had closed his eyes. "I... I don't think so," he answered, thinking about the girl again. "She was happy, not scared. Or at least she kept laughing... and she came right to me like she knew where I was and then she left. Like she knew her way around the place, but I didn't see her again. The girl made the light disappear, like it was on the mural, she touched it and it disappeared. It didn't reappear until I touched it again after she left." Azure wasn't sure what all of that meant.
"The painting it was of a map... and the part where the glow went to... I think it must have been the temple. I was able to push on it, and when I did, it opened up and I pulled this black crystal out. The light disappeared... so I had to find my own way home. When I came home, the letter was waiting outside with a piece of quarts it mentions." Azure finished. He still had the piece of quartz in his bag.
Peculiar. The way she acted definitely alluded to her knowing more than a random passerby. 'So she has something to do with the temple. A guide of sorts perhaps, sent by Mother?' The coincidence of a child showing up at that exact time in that exact place who knew her way around and how to turn off his light... There was a point where coincidences were no longer that. If only they had access to her. But of course, that would make the journey easier and life was anything but easy. 'What was the map of?' Maybe it showed the different leypoints. It might be beneficial to go back to the area with torches and try and find it again to make a copy. 'Wait. Black crystal? What does it do?'
But a child? Azure hadn't understood why a child had been down there in the first place, and it didn't make sense to him that a child would be his guide. A ball of light made much more sense for a guide. "I... I think it might have been of the isle. I saw Laisidihiel and the temple was where I was at." He held his hand up in front of him, putting him back at the map, feeling its textures. There were other places, but I didn't recognize them..." his hand moved one more time. "There was a place in the middle that had been wiped off the map." Azure slowly nodded his head, he was pretty sure that was everything. Azure showed her the 2nd crystal again, "This one I already showed you, I don't know what it does yet."
