 It is beautiful down here, but also dangerous. Beasts roam the floor looking for their prey. A Summon can be found at night, a beast with sharp claws and fangs. Are you scared, pipsqueak?

Ferus the Black Manticore Deep within the rainforest, a small mammal began to scurry the bottom floor in search of food. It had little pink fur and a small whiskered nose, just the most adorable little thing there is. Many would have their eyes on it to have it as a pet, for it barely eats anything but plants and small bugs. However, there are things that would have there eyes on it, and wish to have it for their next meal... High above the tree canopy, a dark air of red eyes illuminate the shadows up above. It watches the small, pink critter as fed off of some flowers that rarely grows in such dense woods. The red eyed creature's eyes followed it as the pink critter wandered the forest aimlessly, as if it didn't have a care in the world. The red eye's on the other hand had its eyes on it for the past hour. Watching it in total silence as it searched for food. There was a snap of a twig from somewhere else, a bird near the red eyes broke a stick out of clumsiness. The pink critter looked up and finally noticed the pair of vicious red eyes staring down at it. It shrieked in pure horror and dashed away. The red eyes vanished and began its pursuit. The critter dashed through out the dense woods, trying to find a place to run or hide. High above, something dark and large jumped from tree to tree with such speed and grace that it looked as though a shadow was flying between the trunks. The critter looked behind to find that the shadow has stopped following it. It slowed down, thinking it is now safe again... but, that was its biggest mistake. A huge spike flew from nowhere and impaled the little creature to the tree. The small animal cried out in pain and terror, but no help would dare interfere. There was a loud thud as something jumped down from the trees. From the shadows came a clawed foot, then an arm which had razor sharp wings attached to it. Then its head emerged from the dark brush, a powerful looking beak that had nasty teeth within, ears meant to hear prey from miles away. Then the rest of the body shortly followed, finishing with a twirling, flexible tail that had spikes sprouting from it. It was clear that that was the source of the spike stabbed into the critter. The creature looked at the critter and began to speak in a raspy, yet smart voice, "Well, well, looks like there is nowhere to run now, little one..." It bared its teeth and lunged.

Kregore pushed his way through the deep lush of the forest, wondering where this talking manticore was, it was night time before he herd a peculiar thud to the north of his position, he quietly attempted to move his way towards the sound, knowing full well that there would be little to no chance of sneaking up on a manticore, but maybe enough to get a glimpse of him and maybe it speaks. kregore was prepared for the worst, however. Then he saw it, feasting on a rabbit that was pinned to a tree. Kregore would allow it to finish eating the rabbit before catching it's attention.

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus was having a wonderful feast. The little rabbit was always such a treat. The pink, fluffy fur made it look like a little ball of cotton candy, even though it wasn't. He kept snapping and ripping pieces of bloody flesh, savoring the delicious meal. He was almost half way when he heard something. His ears twitched and he froze still. He quickly turned his head towards Kregore's direction, but wasn't able to really see anything due to the dark brush. He licked his beak and slowly began to walk towards the brush, "I know you're there my little morsel... I can smell your breath of bravery and naivety." He was about to pounce, when he simply smelt the air, "Or perhaps... we can make this a game." He quickly leaped into the high up trees and disappeared through the dark leaves. His voice echoed around Kregore, "Tell me what you want, or I will rip you to delicious pieces."

"I apologize for interrupting your meal, but I wish to ask you something, but first, what is your name, it is incredibly rude to not call you by your name." Kregore said, cautiously knowing full well that putting his guard down would be the last mistake he would ever make, so Korungr was at the ready, and his magic, he had the perfect spell in mind to protect himself. "I am Kregore, pleased to meet you,"

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus gave a strange sound like a raspy chuckle, "How polite of you, most of my meals always begs for mercy instead of introducing themselves. You must have a suicide wish or something." The trees above Kregore began to rustle as Ferus continued to change positions in the branches high above, "But, perhaps you are too foolish to even comprehend on the grave mistake you've made on speaking to a monster like me... funny how bravery and foolishness fall so close to each other. Since you might not have that long to live, I'll give you the courtesy. I am Ferus; the Lurking Shadow, the Black Death, the Fear Hunter... the Black Manticore. And the pleasure, will soon be mine." A pair of red eyes glowed within the shadows of the trees, staring down at Kregore, "Now, what is your last request?"

"The only fool I see here is you, Ferrus, you call yourself the fear hunter, but you are hiding in a tree, like you are the one full of fear. You like games do you? Well so do I. show yourself, and I shall explain to you the rules of the game, or are you just scared." Phil goaded him on, he could not help but see himself in this proud monster. Kregore slowly backed up to a tree, completely aware of the danger he just stepped in.

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus's eyes tilted at the insult, "Hiding, I do not hide. I stalk my prey where they do not see me. They never know where I am until..." The red eyes vanished. A whispering, raspy voice then sounded next to Kregore's ear immediately, "It is too late..." Ferus was clinging to the tree behind Kregore. He silently went down it and whispered his statement with little detection, "I would love to play a game. But, me playing by the rules depends on how hungry I am..."

"C'mon! take me seriously!" Kregore demanded and he held his hand in the air and said "fire flick!" and he snapped his fingers, a small burst of flame the size of his fist flashed not a foot away from Ferrus's face.

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus hissed in anger as the flame blinded him. Every thing around him was bright as he leaped from the tree trunk and landed a few meters from Kregore, "You will pay for that boy!" He turned quickly and used his sense of smell to try and pin point him. He hissed again and raised his tail. The spikes on the end bloomed and stuck out, ready to release. He flicked his tail and flung three spikes to Kregore's possible location.

But Kregore was already on the offensive, he easily dodged the spikes and smacked Ferus in the face with the blunt side of Korungr. He did not want to injure his new friend too badly, but a statement had to be made

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus shook his head after being smacked by Kregore's weapon. It helped with the disorientation and he hissed louder at him. He flicked his tail and spun, sweeping Kregore off his feet and tripping him. He then jumped to a tree trunk, then leaped from tree to tree until he was in the perfect position. He looked at him as he screeched and lunged down at Kregore again.

Kregore, fell over, but rolled to the side to get back on his feet as soon as possible, he lifted korungr above his head, and stone began to form around the blade, and said, "Stoneblade!" the whole blade was covered in stone, As ferus lunged, Kregore swung down as hard as he could

Ferus the Black Manticore Ferus hissed and brought his arm out at the last second. The blade on the edge of his wing collided with the stone blade and caused him to be redirected. He flipped and skidded on the ground and gave another hiss. He began to slowly circle around Kregore, "I suppose this would be the time I would say that I am impressed by your bravery and strength, and perhaps we could maybe join forces due to the respect I feel for you. If I was one of those easy pushover creatures, you would be correct. I on the other hand, will not be swooned so easily by some boy who has yet to understand the dangers of crossing paths with a natural predator." His tail sprouted more spikes and flung four straight at Kregore with deadly accuracy.
