Just out of curiousity, if you were Lemony Snicket and had caught up with the Baudelaire children before their parents were killed in the fire, would you have found them and warned them about things to come, or just let things run their course and see where they'd end up.. (knowing that their parents would be killed and they'd have to go through many unfortunate things if you didn't)

If contact the Baudelaires meant giving away the position of the surviving VFD members, I think that Lemony himself would just cross his fingers and hope for the best. Perhaps a braver member like Monty may have done something. In the UA, Lemony admits that he is a coward and I'm apt to believe that.

I think Lemony wouldn't have warned them, mainly because... well, everyone has their good days, and everyone has their bad. Lemony has many bad days. He would probably be inclined to let it be, just to see what happened, only to regret it later.
