She was impatient. And that was to say the least. The first time she had children, she never left their side. Uhra was a doting mother; always wanting to be by them and ensure their safety. And she had been like that all the way until her first batch of three were grown. Quetzalcoatl turned out very well; despite the obvious attitude problem. He was always so distant and stand-off-ish. A complete opposite of his brother, Anansi. Anansi was hyper and ever excitable; and she loved him for it. Though sometimes, when the two got together, they were a pain. Gave her a headache and made her feel bad for picking sides. But Uhra knew that it was just something that brothers did, on occasion, right? So there was nothing to really fear from the prospect. Then Pacha, who was polite and gentle; much like herself. Her only daughter was a blessing compared to the two hellions of her first batch.

Though she loved each and every one of them, down to their little faults.

Uhra smiled a bit, the memories of her children making her heart flutter. She stood up carefully, still in slight pain from the birth process not too long ago. Her eyes fluttered, and she waved a bit, head dizzy. But, within a few moments, had herself back standing and without issue. She shifted slowly, before moving out from her resting place under the trees, and toward where she had left her newest children, three small baskets colored like herself and her lover, with Adom and the family. A mother needed her rest, right? She had fought, informing them that she was fine and would stay with the children. She could rest with her children. Sleep alongside them and be perfectly content. But no, Adom and Ikinya had insisted that she go take some time to herself, and that they would care for the baskets while she rests. She didn’t rest well for the first several minutes, always looking to the entrance to the little tree line, before finally falling asleep quietly.

Now she was awake, and anxious. Her heart was pounding hard in her chest. Uhra knew something wasn’t wrong, she could tell that much. But this excitement… it was the same as before. The same feeling she had when she just knew that her babies were on their way; that they were going to break free of their wicker and join them. The mare blinked, standing up and moved out of the trees, toward the soft grassed meadow she knew her family would be residing. Her ears perked up some, the mare shifting easily forward and toward them. Her eyes flickered locking on their forms, before she made a beeline for them, eyes bright. ”It’s time… I can feel it in my heart.” She said, smiling toward Adom. She made her way over to him, nuzzling his neck lightly, before her eyes fell upon her three, beautiful baskets.

Quetzalcoatl sighed, speaking quietly with his son. At least the boy was smart enough to come home for some time. His mate, as well as the younger stallion’s, were off doing something. Quetz hadn’t questioned it when they went off giggling like fillies. He just nodded his head and allowed them to leave and have their fun. His eyes lingered on his boy, seeing the distress in his face. He didn’t like it there; didn’t like seeing him upset at all, but there was nothing he could do; nothing he could say. He breathed out a sigh, trying to comfort the boy, but a noise not far off caught his attention. The small stallion tilted his head back, looking over toward the meadow that held his used to be small family. He blinked, eyes scanning, before locating the image of the white mare he called mother moving toward the center. So she had woken up from her slumber? At least that was something in the right direction.

Quetzalcoatl glanced back at the boy, staring at him for some time, before he breathed out a sigh. He nudged Tecciztecatl lightly, saying that this wasn’t over, and that they would discuss it more, in length, later, before he turned and started back toward his family. His mother had bared foals once more, and everyone who was able was gathered in the herdlands. His middle son included. Sadly, the other two were off somewhere, and Quetzalcoatl couldn’t get ahold of them. But one was better than none. He was certain when the girls came back, they would be fawning over the new children as well, if they came today. The sun was high, and the wind was perfect; so now would be a great time, considering how well it was outside. He snorted at the thought, shaking his head, before finding himself standing behind his mother and father, eyes locked on the small creatures.

Every single one of them was perfect, down to the coloration and markings. They resembled Adom and Uhra to a tee. Quetzalcoatl’s mind went back to his own small form. How he was so dark and… odd, looking compared to his family. The thoughts made him snort, and his head tilt to the side in somewhat of a disgusted manner. Yea, he was the outcast of his parents first batch. But they loved him, right? Right. He knew that, and he didn’t doubt it for a second. Just like with his own children. He could be distant and uncertain about everything, but if they ever needed him, they knew they could come find him and he would give his life to ensure their safety. It’s just what a father did. Breathing out a sigh, he glanced to his mother, eyes flickering, before looking back down at the baskets.

So it was time, huh?

Tecciztecatl sighed. He hated not being on the road; but this was a good cause. He was getting new aunts and uncles, and that was important. His father had been rather excited by the information of new blood entering the family. And so, when he heard, he informed Bob that he had to go and find his family, and would return soon. She insisted on coming with, and they had a rather long journey to the herd. Now, his mate and his mother were off doing who knows what. He imagined something troublesome, but then again, his mother was never one to get into too much trouble. Shaking his head, he stared toward his father, who was lecturing him about keeping secrets and seeming so distant. He didn’t say much, just nodded his head and watched as the stallion frowned at him in disapproval. His father would never understand; Tecciztecatl knew this. He was a smart creature, and nothing would stop him from claiming that right.

The stallion blinked, watching as his father seemed to be distracted. He stared, ears pinning at his dad’s final statement, before he shifted and looked down at his hooves, leaving the older stallion to wander away. Just as he did, the marking on his leg shifted. He heard a hiss in his brain, something that made him shudder, his tail tucking somewhat. It didn’t take long before Quetzalli appeared, the snake like creature looking up toward Tecciztecatl. It hissed, before seeming to laugh, and swiveled it’s head over toward the group not far off. Tecciztecatl blinked down at him, frowning, before lifting his eyes toward his family as well. What did Quetzalli find so interesting about them? They were just like any normal family out there… right?

”Oh, poor, poor Tecciztecatl. Alone and in the dark. Don’t worry, friend. These baskets will be meant for greatness… but will you let them raise and outshine you? Will you let them take over your family and life? Get rid of them.”

”… they’re my relatives… I can’t just get rid of them… I can’t…”

”You can! And you will!”

The harshness in the voice caused Tecciztecatl to cringe, his head snapping to the side. He shook out his mane, the small wings fluttering a bit against his head in agitation. What the hell… He frowned down at the shadow creature, who had already made its way back into the resting spot on his leg, appearing to just be a marking. Sighing, he shook his head, before moving forward and toward his family. He had to be there when they came. It wasn’t a law or anything, but he felt the need to do so. His ears flattened for a moment, the hiss entering his ears again, before he kept moving, head held somewhat high, and stood beside his father, ignoring the pain of headache against his skull.

Here they went again, although this time, the stallion determined wasn't as terrifying as the last time him and his beloved went through the both wonderful and horrific time which was childbirth. It had been so chaotic between rushing home, getting attacked, and barely making it back in time to see his foals being born that Adom had really no time to process and enjoy the fact he was a father. However, life had mellowed considerably from that point in their life as they'd spent the next seasons raising their foals into capable adults.

Well....for the most part.

Pacha seemed to be very well rounded, quiet and gentle like her mother. Anansi....oh did he have concerns. He was a very passionate boy, but he gave him a completely different kind of heart attack than his other son, Quetz. The pair seemed to always be at one another's throat whenever they met, their clashing personalities akin to titans when left unchecked. Although he was much more reserved and quiet than Anansi, his personality worried him a little more than the physical repercussions his brother was more bound to receive. He worried that his son's darker thoughts could draw him into a hard state to get back out of...but he'd found love and even produced a family. Adom knew the wonders love and family could bring upon a person so it was with a relieved heart that he watched his own son flourish into the roll of father he was placed in what seemed like not too long ago.

Yet....this was far from the main concern today as he paced back and forth in front of the baskets his own mother, Ikinya lay amongst. He looked almost drone like in the way the grass started to wear beneath his hooves from his constant and neurotic pattern. He'd told with the insistence of his mother to let Uhra go sleep, Adom had opted to stay since he knew he'd be unable to fall asleep no matter how tired he currently was from lack of a good night's rest in many an eve since she began to show signs of labor in the first place.

Sleep probably wasn't in the stars for him till the wee baskets were born and perfectly alright.

It wasn't until his mother spoke up that he looked behind him, seeing his mate return from her slumbers. "Uhra..." He breathed, perhaps having forgotten to once or twice in the past while. Nuzzling her in return as he took in her calming scent. "Are you sure..?" He asked, curiously looking back to the baskets.

More life, more love.

Ikinya was beside herself to be so involved with the family she'd come to call her own during such a special time in their lives. Her eldest son had given life to their second batch of beautiful children; and her pride as a grandmother showed. She currently lay amongst the baskets, surrounded in the scent of whicker and of course their parents, watching her poor eldest pace like a nervous wreak. The alpha mare could only smile wisely, knowing this too would pass and he'd soon find peace with the unknown of the world....he couldn't worry himself to near death forever but she did sympathize with her son. His own 'birth' wasn't any better than his first batch's...they'd managed to escape being lunch for a skinwalker, and Adom had barely escaped that unikalona.

Luckily the spirits blessed their family, and they continued to bask peacefully in good fortune under the protection of Cuauhcoatl and the members which had stepped up to guard their slice of heaven from the evils of the world.

"Adom..." Ikinya chuckled at her son, "Calm your nerves....everything will be alright." She assured in her most soothing tone, noting the present calmness of the other members of their family near by...and speaking of which. "Besides...Uhra is on her way back." The mare pointed out as her daughter-by-mate returned to their side after a much needed sleep. Although Ikinya had never given birth to any foals of her own, she understood well the taxing energy spend to deliver lives into the world. She wanted Uhra to be well rested for the little foals which would soon emerge from the baskets and be a handful for the next many seasons ahead.

When she'd spoken the mare nodded, slowly standing up from her little mother hen position amongst the small baskets and looked down to them with love and affection. "She's right, Adom. They're moving lots....probably ready to come out with a little encouragement from their parents..." The wise little mare toddled away from the baskets to give Uhra and Adom some space, coming into step beside her grandson and great grandson standing near their side. "Its so wonderful you both could make it back home...you've been missed my dears." She beamed happily.

Oh crap. Oh crap oh crap oh crap!

Racing as fast as his legs could carry him the stallion and his companion tore across the countryside. The incline to his herd's homelands was coming through the thick temperate jungles protected by the looming totems drawing near. The sun was still mid day, thank goodness...hopefully they weren't too late and his siblings were still nestled safe in their baskets. He'd told his grandmother when she told him of the impending date that he'd for sure be there....how else would they know he was the cool brother right off the bat! He couldn't risk Quetz getting to influence them before he did or there would be even more gloomy bratfaced whiners to deal with....and one Quetz was enough for him. His kids....well luckily they didn't seem to be as bad as their daddy but hey....it was a risk he was just unwilling to take.

"Victor! You still keeping up back there or did I wear you out?" The male smirked, tossing his head back on a clear straight part of the path to see his twisted boyfriend; it was his first time bringing Victor home to meet the family...in a sense. While he knew they would of course welcome him with open arms as they were quite a diverse family filled with all different kinds of love...he just hoped Victor would like it as much as he did for once Anansi could precure children of his own to execute 'Best dad ever' revenge on Quetz....he'd be moving back in a more permanent way into his homelands.

Of course....he wouldn't have been so late if he'd watched a little more of the sun and less of the games he and Victor got swept up in during the heat of the morning. Yet they were close, he could tell as the thick smell of sea began to assault his nostrils; the canals they'd build bringing in the sea water from the main square of their herd was just around the bend.

Uhra's gentle eyes shifted to stare toward Adom. He was such a good mate; a good stallion; a good everything. He was sweet, and caring. And, despite his constant worry and getting rather nervous, he was perfect. More than perfect. He was just... just... He was Adom. And he was her world. Well, him and the kids. Her eyes flickered down toward the baskets just as the love of her life nuzzled into her neck. She smiled gently, sending him a gentle look, before nuzzling his neck back and pulled teasingly at his short hair. She was so happy. Her first batch of kids was perfect. From their only little girl, to the two boys that fought often. They were perfect. They were her family and no one could take that away from her. Shifting on her hooves, Uhra wandered over to her babies as her mother-in-mate got up and wandered to the side. The pale mare paused in time to nuzzle Ikinya lightly, before laying down behind her baskets. She pulled them gently to her side, nuzzling each one gently. They were so cute...

Her eyes flickered up, taking into account all the horses that surrounded her. She smiled gently at Quetzalcoatl, before sending a smile to Tecciztecalt as well. "Where are your lovely mates? Honestly, Quetzalcoatl. If I don't meet her soon..." She said, smiling toward him all the same. She still hadn't been able to meet Belinda. And then Tecc had a girl in his life as well. And though the dragon marked stallion didn't talk about her often, every time he did, he smiled and shuffled some. He was adorable when he did talk about her, and Uhra couldn't help but tease him. Though at the same time, lately, she hadn't been able to tease much. When she found out she was pregnant, it went to full on pamper mode. And then after she gave birth, it was all rest and no fun. She only got to see Adom a few times, due to him worrying over the babies and running around as though his head was cut off.

There was a vibration against her flank, and she looked down to see one of the baskets moving. She knew it was time... She looked around for a moment, before frowning some. "Where is Anansi...? And Pacha? I hope they make it... I really want them to be here to meet their baby siblings." She stated, her voice trailing off. She glanced down toward her new babies, smiling lightly as she nuzzled the top of the closest one to her. Her ears swiveled toward Quetzalcoatl when he murmured something about his brother, before looking back up toward Adom with a bright smile. "Are you ready?"

Quetzalcoatl glanced back over his shoulder toward his son. He frowned some, staring for a moment. What was that? What was he doing? The stallion turned slightly to face his son for a moment, walking over to him with a sharp stare. He leaned forward some, whispering so only the younger stallion could hear him. "What's going on? Are you all right? You're acting strange, Tecc." He said, voice somewhat hard. When Tecc reassured him that nothing was wrong, and he was fine, Quetzalcoatl sent him a sharp look. He sighed, before shaking his head and turned to walk back toward his mother. Let the boy be, is what his mate would say. And he couldn't harass him this much. Surely Tecc was fine, right? He always seemed to be in an okay mood at the end of the day. His tail flicked some, ears swiveling to face his mother. How did she always know when things were going on? When things were good. When foals were coming. She had contacted Quetzalcoatl when his own baskets were close to emerging. It shocked him, and made him instantly go back home to his mate to see that his mother was right. Half smiling, he stood near his grandmother and shook out his mane and fur.

As a few seconds ticked by, his mother mentioned Anansi. A frown came to his face. Anansi. That little... He grunted some, tilting his head to the side to look around for his brother. Leave it to him to be late, of course. He was certain Pacha was out with their grandfather, and knew that she would be here sometime in the day. Anansi on the other hand, didn't seem to live within the herd. At least at his moment. But the stallion was missing, and he knew what this meant to his mother. "Leave it to Anansi to ruin the day. If he would just settle down." He murmured. The look his mother sent him told Quetz that she had heard. He flicked his ears back as if ashamed of himself for a moment, before turning his head away. Allow it to pass. She would be distracted soon. He glanced to the side, staring toward his son once more, before his eyes shifted to linger at his mother and the baskets.

Taking a half step forward, he lowered his head to sniff at the baskets. He knew he wasn't the father, but he was excited too. He glanced toward his father, sending the stallion a small smile. It was rare for him to smile, rare for him to make any sort of emotion other than passive. Quetz didn't like showing his emotions, he rarely had them. But this... this was exciting.
PostPosted: Wed Jan 08, 2014 12:50 pm

Tecc just glanced up at his father. He stared for a moment, and his heart... He could have swore it stopped. Glancing down, his ears flicked back, before he glanced up with a half smile toward his father. "I'm.. I'm fine, Dad. Honest." He stated, his voice lowering some. He watched as his father walked away, before sighing some, and his eyes lowered toward his leg. The marking shifted a bit, before growing still. Damn snake thing... He didn't want to curse it's name, just in case. Flicking his lion like tail, the stallion moved forward, his hooves barely lifting off the ground. Today was supposed to be a good day. And it just felt as though everything was frightening. He felt sick to his stomach...

The mention of his uncle made his ears perk though. Anansi? Tecc smiled happily, his tail shifting again, little flutter wings beating. Anansi was his favorite. He was fun to talk to and understood. And, Tecciztecatl was sure if he needed to, he could talk to Anansi about his... er... problem. He sighed, golden eyes lowering toward his hooves again. Despite the markings always making it seem like he was smiling, he generally had a frown on his features. or an uncertain look. He walked over toward his soon to be aunts and uncles, lowering his head to watch them curiously.

Honestly, he was nervous as fu... er... Fudge? Yea, fudge! Victor sighed some, shaking out his short mane to try and get some of the hair from his face. He had been having a ton of fun with Anansi this morning. They played in a river and then some tag and then some uh... other things, who knows! They were awesome bros and no one could touch 'em! Victor blinked when he realized that Anansi was farther ahead than him, before picking up his face. He wasn't used to such thick air. Dang the tropics were hot. Licking his muzzle with his rather long tongue, he surged forward to try and catch up with Anansi. "I'm coming, I'm coming! Baby, you never wear me out~ I could go... Oh wait. Censor. Censor. Censor. Censor. Dude, this is gunna be hella hard!" He called, laughing as he did.

The stallion eventually caught up to Anansi, trotting beside him as he looked around. He memorized the area, eyes flickering for a few moments, before he looked back to the pale stallion with the awesome markings. He half smiled, nudging him as they ran, before looking around again. Where the hell was this place anyways? Breathing out a grunt, he frowned, hair once more in his face as he ran along side his lover. "How much farther, Anansi? We've been running for like... hours." An exaggeration, but all the same.

"Oh....baby...." Anansi gasped as he ran, trying to keep focused but it was just so damn hard when flashbacks of their morning of laughter and fun drifted back into his mind. NO. NO. Focus....babies....he had to be the cool brother again...he was sure Quetz was already there smoozing up the baskets; darn him, but he'd show him. Besides, this time he had Victor.

The only thing better than a super cool brother was a super cool brother and his wicked bro....boyfriend...any of that worked really.

"It...should...be right here..." He breathed, getting winded now as he rounded a grove of trees and finally broke out to see the little group gathered amongst their central meeting place; giving a loud groan of pure gratefulness as he booked it the last bust and finally slowed to a stop beside his nephew. "H-hey bucko...." He wheezed at Tecc, giving him a little nudge before making sure Victor had stopped beside him. Thank god, he wasn't too late. "Oh gods....we...made...it....." Looking around he could see they weren't the last ones at least; even though it was pretty darn close. "H....heeeyyyyy all..." He inhaled deeply, trying to regain some of his composure; looking to his mum'n'dad hovering over the baskets as they wiggled something feirce.

Although he was so happy, he was kind of jealous too. Someday - this was going to be him. Anansi could hardly wait. With his breathing finally stabled, he leaned against Victor with a grin. "Everyone, this is Victor...Victor...everyone. We'll get you up to speed on who is who in a bit; but those little baskets are going to be my new bro's and little sisters."

Adom remained as neurotic as ever, thinking to himself how much his head and neck were going to be from constantly looking back to the baskets and trying to be polite and look to his family when they were speaking. He couldn't help it, he felt the moment he looked away something could happen - maybe the baby would pop out of the basket and be sick? Maybe they could choke on a big when they took their first breath of the outside world? No....calm, Adom....calm.

Trying to take after his wonderful mate Uhra, he took a few calming breaths, one of them being more of a sigh when it came to the topic of Anansi. Damnit boy...where are you? He thought inwardly, but on the outside gave a small smile and nuzzled her. "They'll get here. I'm sure they're on their wa-"

And with that...at least one of the parties arrived; and not alone.

Looking over to the pale stallion running in he felt his eyes widen slightly at the other who was running beside him. Was this a new friend of his? He looked strange enough, and could immediately tell that of course they'd be friends - Anansi was always into the strange and unusual and well...as they stopped into their little family circle around the baskets that he was exactly that and more. Dipping his head to the newcomer he knew introductions would have to wait as his son said, catching Quetz's smile and returning one of his own. Such good kids....even if they have him strokes on what seemed to be a too regular basis.

"I'm ready as i'll ever be..." Adom laughed, walking beside the baskets and nuzzled them one by one. "Who's ready to come out and meet everyone...?" He spoke tenderly to them, eying the seals to wait for that ever familiar release of air in that 'pop' like motion.

Victor breathed out a groan as he ran the corner. His ears pinned back, and his chest heaved. God this was the longest run ever! And after the fun he had this morning with his lover, he didn't want anything to do with this... well... Running. He'd much rather tackle his mate into a river and play more. The thought made him grin, his tongue flopping out slightly, before he shook his mane. He took a deep breath, surging forward faster to try and catch up to Anansi. He kept getting distracted with those dancing spots in front of him, and wanted nothing more than to nuzzle him into oblivion. The thought made him snicker, before he turned the corner and kinda stumbled forward. His ears snapped up, and he tossed his long bangs out of his face for a brief second to see the large family.

And god were they large.

One two, three baskets, three over there... So that was at least eight. And then... Dang. He blinked quicky. Victor frowned and tilted his head, his eyebrows pulling together some in slight distress. His family was small, and he didn't spend much time with his mothers or sisters. And now he was surrounded by... like... a billion other Soquili. His ears pinned back, and he pressed himself close to Anansi in order to give himself more comfort. His tail lashed behind him, and he calmed himself considerably when the other stallion ( he guessed the dad ) nodded at him. Victor blinked back in response, before nodding back, and turned his head to nuzzle his muzzle behind Anansi's ear, murmuring quietly to him so no one else could hear. "I know you said you had a big family... but damn, babe. This is like... triple what I thought." He turned his head to see the darkest of the stallions staring at him with a gaze that could kill, before he half shifted to the side, head dipping down. "Dude. He is high strung, ain't he...?" He muttered, before moving to the other side of Anansi and nodded toward the small mare watching her baskets intently.
