Saxon dragged her feet on heading up the stairs to the divination's classroom. This was one of the only classes she was taking with slytherins... let alone one that had Quill in it. She was over his kidding... mostly... and so she really didn't mind that she would be seeing the guy... it was more she didn't want to explain why she couldn't take a joke. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she entered the room. She sat a little bit back. She didn't love this class and so she tended to not always pay attention. But today was tealeaves... and so she could just bs something and get out of there... She settled into her seat and waved to one of her friends across the room as she set up her things.

Pulling out a parchment and a quill she glanced around waiting for the professor to start. Drink a cup of tea and then get out of there... she wouldn't have to say two words to anyone. Good plan... that was until the professor said they would be working in groups and they didn't get to pick... She knew....just knew her luck was just right that her partner would be the one person who would make her life miserable.

"Miss Seabrooke... you will be working with Mr. O'Connolly."

It was just another normal day for Quillan. He'd completely forgotten about Saxon's strange behavior and went on with his life rather merrily. Well.... As merrily as one could be while they sat through dry and boring classes.

Divination was just ridiculous... Quillan could see the use in Transfiguration, Potions, and some of the other core classes but Divi-freakin'-nation? When would he ever have to read a tea leaf? He wasn't planning on becoming an old white haired fortune teller, nor was he planning on becoming some doped up guru. Everything about this class was a sham and pure coincidence. It's one thing to believe in magic but whoever believes in this crud needs to be checked into St. Mungo's.

When the teacher assigned partners, Quillan just shrugged. What was he supposed to do? Start a rebellion or sneak out? Both of those sound rather tempting... Quillan realized, remembering the ink bombs he had in his pockets. But he didn't get too ahead of himself before he noticed everyone shifting and made his way over to Saxon. "Hey Miss Seabrooke," he said boyishly, giving her a grin as he sat down next to him with his tea cup.

"I think we should have something fruity," he told her, "I never cared much for normal tea so we should make something fruity," he explained to her, digging through his backpack for some dried fruit chips. "We can read the fruit," he added mockingly with a laugh, still not noticing Saxon's dread.

Saxon was contemplating both of the things Quillan was thinking. She didn't want to work with him. After all.. she had the problem of stuttering around guys... and most her teachers knew that and tried to accommodate her... but apparently someone hadn't gotten the memo. She sighed a bit but put on a beaming smile. "Quillan." She nodded to his greeting

Ok so maybe she was too much of a goody goody to just walk out and she was too shy to make a scene. But she didn't have to let him have all the cards. Strange... she didn't feel the need to stutter. How ever with the fruit comment she simply stared at him. "Alright!" She nodded. "Question... if you will... why do you have fruit in your bag? Or is it just for the random occasion?" She smirked and shook her head before hearing the teacher instruct them to make their tea. She put some leaves in her cup and just kind of looked at him expectantly... She reached out to pour the hot water over her leaves and then raised an eyebrow silently asking if he wanted water with his fruit chips. It was just divinations... bad grade? what ever...this class couldn't help her become a magizoologist...

"Why are you giving me that creepy smile?" Quillan gave Saxon a perturbed look. That face was just... bizarre. Is something wrong with her? That smile just seemed fake and it gave Quillan shudders. "Eat something bad? I might have something for that in my bag..."

Quillan gave a short laugh when she asked about the fruit. "I have a lot of things in my bag..." Quillan leaned closer to her with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, "Undetectable Extension Charm..." he whispered to her, a boyish grin on his face.

With that, he put the fruit chips into his tea and beckoned her to pour the hot water. "I haven't seen you lately--have you been avoiding me?" He inquired with a smirk, though he didn't even have the sneaking suspicion that she was in fact avoiding him. Little did he know.

She let the smile fall. "Its better then groaning and moaning the whole class." She smiled a bit and then tucked her hair behind her ear. She laughed softly. "If i did i would have made a face like this" She screwed up her face a bit. Crossing her eyes and wrinkling her nose. She laughed and shook her head softly but then settled into fixing their teas.

As he leaned in she looked up and flushed realizing how close he was. And then his words buzzed in her ears and her face turned a deeper shade. He was like all the men in her romance novels... Cocky and full of themselves.

She poured the water over his fruit and then looked away guilty. "N-no... " Of course she was avoiding him. Not that it was hard... Just had to get lost in her books...skip meals... and well if she really wanted to avoid him she should have skipped class.... but in away her inner english couldn't let her miss tea. This was something she was supposed to be just naturally good at. They would see. She looked back to her cup and waited for it to steep.

"What." Quillan looked at Saxon blankly for a few seconds, processing what he saw. Crossed eyes! Wrinkled nose! "AHAHAHA!" Quillan threw back his head in laughter, completely caught off guard by her bizarre display. A few other kids glanced their way but other than that, not much attention was given. It was just Quillan being obnoxious, after all.

He stopped laughing to pause when she replied to his other question. That "no" was rather suspicious... His eyes narrowed for a second, "You were actually avoiding me?" Quillan inquired, too surprised to think anything else. "Wow, an inadvertent nail on the head, huh?"

With that, it got very quiet between them. Their tea steaming between them. Quillan took one of the spoons and swirled his fruit tea concoction and glanced at Saxon. "Why?"

Quillan couldn't pinpoint a reason as to why this girl would be avoiding him. Was it something I said...? Quillan remembered how she left rather abruptly a few days ago but how was he supposed to remember something he said so long ago?

She smiled at his laugh. It wasn't many people who were brave enough to toss their heads back and laugh. She doubted she could. He laugh was just a small chuckle and a faint flush. She stirred her tea when he stopped laughing and narrowed his eyes. "N-no... I wasn't" She bit her lip. "I was just in the hufflepuff common room in my free time... And i don't have any other classes with you... S-so no... i wasn't... "

Ok... so he hadn't believed her. The silence proved it. She glanced to the professor who was instructing the other students what to do... So she added a lump of sugar to her tea, stirred and took a sip. She didn't see him glance up because her eyes were fixed on her folded hands. Lesson one totally forgotten.

At his question she flushed and took another sip of her tea. "I was upset..." She shrugged and took another sip still not looking up at him. What would she see... the man trying to help her angry with her? She didn't need to see that. She took another sip and set her cup down.

Quillan looked at her skeptically, wondering if she was actually telling the truth. He didn't say anything, figuring that if he just put her on ice long enough, she'd end up confessing anyway. Quillan figured her for that type of girl... the goody two shoes. So, going with that plan, he just kept a slight frown on his face... Knowing that if she felt guilty, she'd think his face showed that he didn't believe her.

He became more certain that she was fibbing when she looked down at her hands. "You were upset...?" Quillan asked, a larger frown on his head. "So I did something?" What was it that I did? He wracked his brain but he couldn't remember something that stood out to him.

"I hope you know I didn't mean to offend you," Quillan told her, lowering his voice so he wouldn't be overheard. "Sometimes I get on people's nerves or say the wrong thing without realizing it," He started, thinking of Dorian in that instant--a person who he quickly just shook out of his thoughts, "I'm stupid like that," he said with a goofy, apologetic grin.

With that, he leaned away from her to return to stirring his tea. From what everyone else was doing, they were supposed to drink the tea...? Quillan took a liberal gulp of his own--immediately scorching his mouth. "Great, I just burned my tongue..." Quillan muttered with a sigh, not looking forward to the peeling that was likely to occur in a few days. "Make sure to blow on yours." He added, trying to cool his own before he took another sip.

That was Saxon to a T. She liked doing things to make people happy. And so confessing something that wouldn't make him happy but exactly the opposite was not what she wanted to do. However the prolonged silence would get to anyone wouldn't it. When he parroted her words back to her she hesitated but nodded. He did something? Yeah he did... He called her fat.

"You called me fat!" She looked up at him flushing and lowering her voice again. "How was i supposed to not get offended by that?" No stutter and she looked him directly in the eye. She frowned as he explained. Tucking a piece of hair back, she was going to have to get a headband. "So... you don't think im fat?" She flushed. Ok maybe she fished for that complement. "No... youre not stupid... I... I guess i just take things to heart... y'know?"

She smiled back and he moved away so she turned back to her cup. she had been sipping tea like a true english woman. So as he took a large gulp she murmered to try and stop him but it was too late. She flushed. "Maybe you should have someone kiss it better." Boy... she could write romance novels now. She flushed and took another sip purposefully blowing on it just cause he told her she should.

"OHHHHHH!" Quillan exclaimed, his eyes wide in realization when Saxon admitted what was wrong. He exasperatedly shook his head, "No!" He crossed his arms in an X, leaning back a little. "No, no, no, that's not..." Quillan then slouched towards the table, his hand sprawled across his forehead. "I would never call you fat if you were fat!" Quillan whispered, looking at him between his bangs. "It was a joke! I didn't mean that you were fat."

I am stupid after all, Quillan thought to himself with a sigh. I called a shy girl fat. There is seriously something wrong up there... Didn't my mom teach me anything!? He rubbed his temple a little, feeling horrible with himself. "I..." He started, of course she takes it to heart! "I know... I'm sorry, I wasn't being serious. But I should've known better." Quillan frowned, looking at her. "I'm sorry, Saxon, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings."

He watched as she turned back towards her tea and then he laughed at her comment. Did this mean he was forgiven? "Was that an offer, Saxon?" Quillan inquired, leaning forward towards her, his tongue extended. Then, he waited for the blush.

What am I doing? Quillan sighed.

I really need to stop this relentless teasing of her... Quillan thought to himself, pulling away and retracting his tongue back to his mouth. He already screwed up once because of his big mouth. With that in mind, he glanced back at her, "You're not fat at all. You should know that without me saying so."

Saxon gave a blush as he went over the top on his reaction. She smiled. "But since im not fat you call me fat?" She wrinkled her nose. Everything was forgiven. As long as he didn't mean it. Afterall, she knew she took things too seriously. So she would just have to laugh more with Quill. She looked at him looking at her through his bangs and she grinned. Well... she could admit to herself... he was kinda cute...

"Oh no! I knew it was contagious... now you are starting to stutter.... Here... Look me right in the eye and talk slowly." Look! she could make a joke. She gave the faintest of blushes and smiled. "Its ok... I just... you were helping me so i guess i thought it was another of your... points... ya know... look you in the eye... don't stutter... Lose ten pounds... " She ran her thumb across the lip of her cup.

Yes he was forgiven. She knew he was just playing now... and so there was nothing to forgive. But his comment and movement gave her pause. Her book right now had a strong woman... she always rose to the occasion for these kind of things. Maybe it woudln't be so bad. No it wasn't that first kiss that would sweep her off her feet... but it was a start right... Ok... So Quillan was finding her a boyfriend... so maybe it was best to save that first kiss for him. But what if he wasn't exactly what she hoped for... at least this way she was in control. She bit her lip but leaned in just as he pulled away. She flushed bright red. He had been playing again. Of course he wasn't serious. She took another sip of her tea and nodded when he spoke again. The professor walked by looking into the cup. She fussed at Quillan for a moment and then moved on.

"Er... yes..." Quillan admitted, breaking out in a stupid grin. He could tell from her tone of voice that she was on the way towards forgiving him.

Whenever Saxon joked, it never ceased to surprise him. Honestly, one would think he'd get used to her little witty remarks but instead, she just caused him to double over in laughter, crumpling on the table. "Oh, Merlin! You're right!" He exclaimed with a laugh, almost near tears before he regained his composure. Then, talking excessively slow and making a point to make eye contact, he asked, "Hooooww issss thiissss?" With a beaming grin.

Ah... Quillan could see where she was coming from. It was definitely wrong of him to say that, especially when he was supposed to be in teaching mode. "Pfft..." Quillan suppressed the remnants of his laughter attack and looked at her, his face strained to be serious (which was most likely a funny sight). "I think there would be a special place in hell for me if that was one of my rules--especially since you'd be more skin and bones if you lost ten pounds," Quillan retorted, waving his hand and then quickly adding, "which is not attractive at all."

Then, hoping that this would come off as a joke, "And you need all the help you can get," he said, winking playfully at her.

With that, the teacher came over to look at his tea leaves. "They still make an obscure shape!" Quillan protested, swishing his cup, "Who said reading tea leaves had to be with tea leaves?" The professor was so exasperated with him by the time they stopped bickering at each other that she just walked to another pair of students.

"I think my fruit chips will make me a beautiful fortune," Quillan muttered, sipping some of his now-cooled tea, before glancing at Saxon with a satisfied smirk on his face. "Booya. Didn't get detention."

She laughed. Her face was a light red from merriment not embarrassment. She watched him and then laughed again as he did. "Perfect... juuuuuussssstttt abbbbbouuuuutttt riiiiiight!" Her eyes glittered playfully as they matched his and she shook her head still chuckling a bit. She took another sip of tea. She had to finish it before she could read the leaves. She watched him straighten out his face and she hid a smile. He looked so different serious. She tried to straighten her face like his.

"H-hell you say?" Even though she stuttered it was because she never swore. At least when she could help it. And Hell was a bad word to her. She flushed. "No? Have you seen the magazines? I hear skeletons are making a comeback..." She wrinkled her nose and then laughed at his joke. "Yeah.. i guess i do..." She watched him bicker with the teacher and then smiled as he asked his question. "Um... the person who said... look tea leaves! i think these can predict my future?" She flushed a bit. Ok so maybe that wasn't so nice to say...but at least the teacher was already too far away to hear.

"I think you shall have the most colorful future out of everyone here...." She smiled. "Ive never had detention."

"Do I really sound that patronizing?" He fought to ask in his crippling laughter. "Oh wait--Doooooo I reaaaaalllyyy," he started but was overcome by laughs that the words were choked off.

"I thought that was a band," Quillan responded with a serious face. He looked at her with fake confusion, hoping that she would get bewildered before breaking out into a large grin. "The Skeletons Are Making A Comeback... touring concert halls near you," Quillan spoke in one of those stereotypical muggle TV reporter voices--making his voice deep and rumbly. Well, at least as deep and rumbly as he could while he was on the verge of laughing again.

Quillan calmed himself, taking a deep breath before smiling at Saxon. "You don't say?" Wondering if this was the most badass Saxon ever was in her entire life. It definitely didn't seem like she was the type to bash classes--nope, he had her pegged for a complete teacher's pet. "Ooohhhhh! Saxon's talking smaaackkkk," Quillan taunted, nudging her softly with his elbow.

"Oh, I bet I will!" Quillan gleamed. His mother and father didn't think he had what it took to be an Auror or a Quidditch player (well, he really didn't care about becoming a Quidditch player) but he sure planned to be colorful! A joke shop, a candy shop... shops for anything you could think of! And Quillan would manage them brilliantly. There would be jellybeans for every color of the rainbow if he had any say in it--and only one in ten would taste like something foul.

Of course she would have never gotten in trouble! Man, I'm going to be such a bad influence on her, Quillan thought deviously as he laughed, "Whoa! We have a badass over here!--though I'm not on your level" Quillan mocked, "I have gotten in a fight and may or may not have..." he leaned in, theatrically looking both ways in case someone could hear him, "polished the trophy room..."

She smiled at him knowing he didn't need an answer but she shook her head anyway. "Nope... just making sure i practice.... " Her eyes glittered and she sipped a little more of her tea. She was nearing the bottom so she glanced around to see what everyone else was doing.

She turned back to him though and gave him a confused look. "What?" She frowned feeling that he was joking with her still but that she was missing the joke. And then he expounded his joke and she smiled. "They might be... you never know with bands... I heard of a band called... Lollipop Jamboree... Beat that... " She chuckled though at his tone. He did a good announcer voice.

She grinned but flushed and ran her thumb over her tea cup again. She hated some of her classes. If they didn't help her toward her goal they were a waste of her time. Like this one. How was it going to help her be a better vet? She still hadn't figured that out. She laughed but shushed him. "The professor will hear you..." She wiggled slightly as his elbow caught her side. She was so ticklish and so she fought to not let him know that.

She had only meant about the colors of the fruit but it wasn't hard to see that if Quillan wanted to do something... all he had to do was set his mind to it. Again she flushed at him calling out. "Polished or demolished?" She grinned again. She had always been terrified of what her detention would be if she ever got in trouble. But she never got in trouble... so the point was moot.
