Pinkie Pie bounced happily along! She had spent much of her time in the tree since they had arrived, but now it was time to see the outside! Besides! If she was going to plan the next biggest most coolest party EVAR!, she'd need to know the layout of the land! After all, she'd need to know where all the best places were to hold a party!

As per usual, she skip-bounced, humming a rather chipper tune, stopping periodically to sniff at a bea-YOO-tiful flower... or twenty-three?

"La-lala-la-LAA!!" she giggled out a tune. "Oh! Today is going to be Super Duper, EXTRA special! I just KNOW it is!! An itchy back in the morning is the perfect way to start the day!" she giggled more, ending it with a snort.

"I wonder if I'll meet any new friends today! There have been soooo many new faces, I've been having a hard time keeping up with them all!"

In all of her bouncing, Pinkie noticed a small plume of smoke rise above the trees on the little isle of Laisidhiel.

"Oh my Gosh, OHMIGOSH!!" she gasped! "I hope everypony is ok!!" she gasped, looking around a bit. "And I don't see anyone rushing to the rescue! That means...." Her face turned from an overly shocked expression to an overly dangerous determined one! "This is a job for... SUPER PINKIE!!!" she cheered then took off at a run. She bolted through the trees, dodged branches at lightning a really fast speed! She then skidded to a rather abrupt halt in front of a rather unique Faun who was obviously tinkering about outside with a new experiment of sorts. She froze from her run with her nose a mere centimeters from his.

"IcameasFASTasIcould! Isawthesmokeandfiguredyouwereintrouble! Iseverythingok?!?!"

It was then that she began panting, her body's exhaustion finally catching up to her.

User ImageBy now the rattling, clanking noises of Cosworth's latest steam engine only slightly bothered the local wildlife in the woods around his shack, and neither they nor he paid each other much mind as the Faun paced around the running contraption, scrawling illegible notes onto an irregularly shaped scrap of parchment.

So far so good. This time the cylinder appeared to be properly sealed, and that annoying squeal was gone. Still, the flyweights were barely off the stops and Cosworth needed to see it run a bit faster before he was sure it was properly built. He opened up a small locker he'd built beside his furnace, picked up a shovel and lifted out a load of charcoal. Perhaps a little too enthusiastically, he then dumped the charcoal into the glowing fire.

The wheel's spinning increased only slowly, and Cosworth puzzled over this for a second before he glanced over at his furnace, then up at the smokestack in time to see a large black plume join the thin line of smoke trailing into the sky.

"Oops." Cosworth muttered to himself. The engineer wiped some sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, inadvertently smearing charcoal onto it instead. Perhaps he'd dumped a little too much fuel onto that one. His goggled face turned upwards, eyes following the rising plume of smoke as it climbed, roiled and eventually dissipated. Still, the machine accelerated steadily as the flame steadily took the new fuel, and a small smile spread across Cosworth's blackened face as the flywheel spun up. He turned away to give his face a bit of relief from the heat.

And almost bumped noses with a furry mass of pink that completely filled his vision. His ears registered that sound was coming out of its mouth, but his brain, caught by surprise and not particularly adept at social interactions to begin with, couldn't put together the words being spoken. The only thing he picked up were the two letters O and K at the end of... her (he deduced this thing was female) sentence. Then she finished talking and started breathing heavily on his face.

Cosworth raised one coal-stained finger between them, placed it on the stranger's nose and firmly pushed her backwards. He saw that she was one of those newcomers, Faunies or whatever Mojo had called them. She was strangely built, definitely Faun-ish in height, shape and most importantly, curve, but she had a different hoof structure, her ears were sticking straight up from the top of her head and she was, well...

Pink.

With the exception of a fresh smudge of charcoal on her nose, her fur was a brighter shade of pink than ever he'd ever seen on any of the faun he'd grown up with. Never mind the hair.

He let two seconds of silence pass between them before he lifted his protective amber goggles, revealing a clean patch of face and his two green eyes. In a calm, almost bored tone, he finally spoke a response to her question. "I'm fine, young lady. How are you?"

Pinkie Pie rocked back on her hooves as she was pushed back by her nose. Blue eyes went cross-eyed as she had a momentary lapse of brain processing to acknowledge the fact that the smudge she was focusing on could in fact be removed. Much less how it was placed there...

She shook her head in one swift motion - the smudge seeming to disappear in the act - and beamed a great big smile. "I'm Abso-Pinkie-Perfect!" she replied before her eyes popped open towards the machine behind him.

"Hey look! A train!" she giggled and bounced (not skipped, bounced...) over the three small bounds it took. "I haven't seen a train since we left Equestria! Oh my GOSH could that thing go! I mean, it musta went from Zero to Rainbow Dash in Three point Two Five Zero Zero Seven Three seconds!"

"OH! But Silly me! Here I am talking on and on about that silly old train when I haven't even introduced myself yet!" She giggle-snorted at her own silliness and zipped back into place in front of the new face. "I don't think I've ever seen your charcoal smudge-a-doodled face before!"

She seemed to prance in place, like she couldn't contain her excitement at meeting someone new! Because... let's face it... she couldn't contain herself. Her hand thrusted forward. "I'm Pinkie Pie! And it's a Pleasure to meet you, Misterrrrrrrr...?" She held a rather spontaneous and super wide grin as she waited for a reply.

"T-train?" Cosworth didn't know what that meant, but he could only assume she was referring to his invention. It differed from the machines she would have seen back in Equestria in that it was little more than an engine with crudely manufactured parts, some steel, some wood, but it looked similar enough- a boiler, a furnace, some valves, a piston, a conrod and a flywheel, just primitive, haphazardly laid out and without drive wheels.

His green eyes blinked and turned as his strange guest (interloper) bounced out of his field of view and, alarmingly, towards the running engine. His voice picked up a tone of urgency as he yelled after her.

"Young lady, that machine is very dangerous! You need to step back-" And before he could say another word, the bouncy Fauny was right in front of him again, rapidly firing off her observation that they'd not met (with a plethora of syllable-laden words) and introducing herself. Cosworth let her hang for a couple of seconds at the end of her 'Misterrrrrrrr...?" as he was still in inventing mode, not particularly feeling social and half wondering whether to run inside and hide.

No, he had to at least introduce himself too. Then he could tell her to clear out before she hurt herself.

"Cosworth." The engineer replied, not quite noticing her outstretched hand. And that was all he said at first, once more leaving a long pause as a hint that he really wasn't prepared to engage in conversation, let alone entertain a guest. At length, he raised his hands towards her and added; "Now that we've been formally introduced, I should probably formally ask you to leave." He hazarded a glance backwards at his clunking engine before looking back at Pinkie Pie. "This is for your own safety. Erm, and mine."

Behind him, at a steady, imperceptible rate, his engine was speeding up.

"Cosworth..." Pinkie's face furrowed as if she was thinking really hard on that name. As if something about that name just wasn't right. "Cooosss-Werth.... YUP!" She giggled, straightening out quickly and beaming another bright grin of delight. "Now the name is engraved in my noggin! Another name to add to the list of Pinkie Pie's Friends!" She bounced a time or two.

She then fell into a giggle-snort fit. "Oh, you're a funny one, Cosworth! Today's my lucky day! I'm not in any danger! My back was itchy this morning!" In Pinkie's mind, this clearly made sense.... But to those unaware of her... "unique" sixth sense that she so fondly referred to as her "Pinkie Sense", it made complete NONsense!

"So what's wrong with your train?! I mean, besides the fact that it doesn't have wheels and there's no track for it? And, hmmmmmm.." she brought a hand to her chin, one eye squinting as she moved around it, clearly looking over it. "... where's the caboose?! Every train needs a caboose! Hmm..."

If he was trying to direct her away from his invention, his efforts clearly failed. Pinkie's brain was a one tracked mind. Her thoughts led her over towards a nearby table where sketches, schematics and blueprints lay scattered. "Hmm! Let's see!"

To Cosworth, the patterns and markings on the paper made sense. They laid out the DNA to a wondrous invention! But to Pinkie Pie... she may as well have been staring at a dot-to-dot picture or Paint-by-number page... She eyed the pencil laying atop the papers and pondered deeply. Cosworth seemed, well, a lot like Twilight. And Twilight liked her books. So Cosworth might really liked these papers. So writing and changing things was probably not the best idea, Pinkie. So picking up the pencil would equal bad....

Instead, she took the safer route, using her fingers to point to various things as she spoke of them. The actual scientific names of things were lost to her, but she made up similar words to describe them. He'd obviously know what they meant, right?

"Hey! Have you tried connecting this piece to that nermadoodle? And replacing that thingamajig with that whatchamacallit? OH! And maybe using just a teeny-weenie-bit smaller pipe for the boiler so that it traps more heat and uses less coal?!" She grinned, batting her eyelashes. Not all of her ideas were winners, but you could tell her efforts were in the right place.

The male faun's face reflected some of his exasperation, with just a tinge of regret when Pinkie claimed to have engraved his name in her memory. He surely wouldn't forget this encounter, but there was a very real chance he might forget her name after this. Or, then again, it was a fairly unique name.

Cosworth could make no sense of what the pink one could possibly mean with her comment on her itchy back. So he disregarded it. There were, after all, many other, equally inscrutable sentences coming out of her mouth. Again with her foreign words about trains, tracks and... Cabooses? Caboosi? What was that? It sounded like an animal of some sort. He did understand the word 'wheels' though. It had a single flywheel but no drive wheels. He had a friend who was more of an expert on a potential chassis, but he hadn't even gotten that far with this experiment. Yet.

The whole time she was talking, he had continued to keep silent, sleep-deprived eyes lazily tracking the rapidly (impossibly rapidly) moving Fauny, trying to make sense of what she was talking about. It seemed that these Faunies came from a more mechanically advanced advanced civilization, and she was using terms to describe his machine that were completely alien to him. Either she was using very unfamiliar technical terms, or she was making it all up. He wasn't really sure.

Still, he followed her fingers and what she was pointing at, mentally running through his head whether her suggestions would make sense. And while he cynically disregarded most of what she said, mouthing a silent 'nope' with each one, her last suggestion caused a light bulb to go off in his brain. A shorter, better insulated steam pipe would increase the thermal efficiency somewhat. And that was what drew the engineer's attention to his engine's increasing speed. With an alarmed stare at his flyweight tachometer (which was now pretty much horizontal), Cosworth quickly (and too hastily) tried to slam shut the damper door with his bare hand, which only resulted in a searing sensation on his fingers and the smell of burned fur and skin. The male faun uttered a rather strong curse word that the foreigner might not have been familiar with, then cast his eyes around their immediate surroundings. "Young lady, I just need you to shut up for a second." He said rapidly, almost frantically. "I need to slow the engine down or it'll throw the piston." Cosworth needed to get the dampers closed to lower the engine's RPM but it was too hot, and, having taken them off to write down his notes, he wasn't sure where he'd put his fire gloves all of a sudden.

No matter. He turned his back on Pinkie for a second to pick up a thick old rag he could use to shield his hand so he could grab the damper handle.

Her grin only seemed to broaden as she waited for him to express any proof that her ideas may have helped. It didn't help that for the brief instant it was visible, she could see the cogs whirring in his mind. She could tell that one of her ideas made sense - probably a bit too much - and that he was greatly considering it for that moment.

However, he just as quickly did something equally as silly as touching a hot stove. A VERY hot stove... She could hear the skin sizzle and that sound alone made her cringe. "Eh... Here... let me help you with that!"

She darted around the table, grabbing a pitcher of cool water. "Maybe you should stick your hand in this...." she trailed, her thoughts derailed by an unusual occurrence.

As she had extended her arms forward to offer the pitcher, a strange sensation rippled through her arm.

Her Elbow...

It was creaky....

"Well, that's new!" she giggled and proceeded to bend it back and forth a bit more. "I wonder what that means?!"

Now, to Cosworth, all that he could tell was that she had suddenly found a strange fascination with bending her arm and straightening it back out. Bending it and straightening it... Bending. Straightening... Bendi--....

In efforts to test this new feeling, she failed to watch where she was stepping and tripped over a rock in her path. She eep'd and fell forward, the water pitcher flying towards Cosworth and the boiler. Water was sent flying...
PostPosted: Sun Jul 14, 2013 3:11 pm

He glanced over his shoulder to see what the pink one was suggesting he dip his hand in. Seeing the pitcher of cold water, he blinked a few times, wondering where exactly that had come from. Then again, he sensed that things around this Fauny just seemed to happen, and that he probably shouldn't question it too much if he wanted to keep what was left of his sanity.

"In a moment, young lady. I just need to shut the damper right quick." Satisfied that she was more concerned about her bodily functions now than potentially wrecking something, he stepped towards the furnace, wrapped the old rag a few times around the damper handle and began to tug it closed. It stuck a couple of times but creaked shut without much further objection, and Cosworth made a note to make the lever longer, and for it have an insulated handle so it wouldn't heat up so much. He could still feel the heat radiating from the boiler just adjacent, so he began to take a step back when he saw a sudden rush of steam wash out from it- the cold water from the pitcher had splashed over an area of the hot metal tank and turned instantly to steam. Cosworth, without really even thinking about it, hit the deck and squeezed his eyes shut.

What followed was a white-hot burst of air and a pressure wave that threatened to lift him from the ground. The almighty noise of rending metal caused his ears to ring and when it was over, he groaned, gingerly lifting himself off the ground and carefully opening one eye.

His table had been knocked over, and all the parchment notes that had been on it were fluttering down to earth some yards away. Before him, the bottom half of the boiler remained where it was, though around it there was some twisted pipework. The top of the boiler he now saw, in his peripheral vision, falling down onto his little cottage and presumably, clean through the roof. He might have heard the accompanying clang were it not for the ringing in his ears.

There was something missing, though. Oh, right. The pink one.

"Young miss?" He called out, barely able to hear his own voice. He scanned around him for any sign of her, the pink Fauny who until now had been easy to spot. "Young miss! Are you all right?" He peered around some of the scattered, fallen objects now littering his yard.

Everything went in slow motion for her. From bending and straightening her arm, to tripping on her hooves and sending the water pitcher flying, to a resounding explosion that seemed to send her ears ringing into next Tuesday! All acts, that only lasted mere seconds at the most, seemed to last forever in Pinkie's thoughts.

Up until she found herself flying.... -ish...

She blinked, shook her head then gasped, momentarily baffled as to why she was suddenly so high up and covered in blotches with black soot. That is, until she took a better look around to realize just what had happened!

Apparently, there was an explosion just after she tripped. Conveniently, the explosion sent her careening into a nearby tree and was dangling on a branch from her torso. "Thank you, tree..." she whispered calmly to it and patted its branch before hoisting herself up into a sit upon it. It was at about that time she heard a crunch and thud, noting that something had fallen through the roof of a nearby cottage. Pinkie could only assume that it belonged to Cosworth and she cringed greatly at the thought.

Despite the further ringing in her own ears, she heard shouting and looked down to see Cosworth calling for her. She apparently flew off in an odd angle because he seemed to be calling for her in the wrong direction. She giggled and swung around on the branch so that she was hanging upside down by her knees. Now hanging freely, she whipped out a megaphone from her tail and waved her free hand.

"OVER HERE!!"

She then blinked, noticing something horribly wrong.

"HEY! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR TRAIN!?!"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 17, 2013 7:46 pm

What in the great green isle was that insane Fauny girl holding in her hand? The engineer assumed it was for making her voice louder judging from how she was holding it, but even so he could only barely hear her, what after the explosion and all. He sighed, feeling a wave of exasperation coming on. He was glad she seemed to be OK though.

Cosworth reluctantly turned around to get a look at what might have been left of his steam engine. Expecting to see nothing but bent parts, he was partially relieved that only the furnace and boiler seemed to be damaged- check that, destroyed, but the actual drive assembly was more or less unharmed. After taking a deep breath, he answered Pinkie's question. "I suppose you happened to it, lass." He advanced on the jagged edges of his boiler, and decided against touching it when he felt the heat radiating off the metal. "That cold water- wherever you got it from- caused some localized shock cooling on the boiler surface. I didn't have any insulation on this because it was only a test rig, so that resulted in cracking of the pressure vessel, causing the catastrophic release of steam you just witnessed." He turned to face Pinkie, his face somewhere between irritation and fascination. "Although, in its last incarnation, it wouldn't have even had the pressure to do that, so if nothing else, you proved the new design generates more power than the last one." It was broken, yes, but in a few weeks he'd probably have it back together and better than ever. Not quite enough consolation to make him forgive the pink one, but it kept him calm, for now.

Cosworth casually wandered over to the tree limb that Pinkie was draped over, looking up at her. "Do you need a hand down, young lady?" He asked. "I wasn't exactly looking for a new tree ornament. And I suppose you've got many more faces to greet today, best not to let me keep you." Perhaps it was not the most subtle invitation to leave, but given the devastation surrounding them Cosworth was not really in the mood for subtlety.

Pinkie cringed and coiled on herself. She did this?! She couldn't quite figure out just how or why, but he seemed pretty sure. And he was now wearing a... a...! ~gasp~ A FROWN! Pinkie's heart nearly shattered. Everyone always smiled when she was around! That was her purpose in life! Her destiny! Her CUTIE MARK!!

"Oh my gosh!" she half whimpered and grabbed the branch. Holding on with a sure grip, she flipped around until her feet aimed at the ground and let go, bending her knees on impact. In the flip of a coin, she spun on her heels, immediately turning on the big apologetic eyes.

"I'm REALLY sorry! I didn't mean to break your train! I was only trying to help! I saw your hand get all hurty and I remembered back to this one time I burnt my hand on the stove over in Sugar Cube Corner! Mrs. Cake helped me out by making me put my hand in cold water! It still hurt a lot, but it did feel better!"

She blinked as he mentioned meeting newer faces and the like. She did love to make new friends! And she did have a lot of new faces to put names to back at the tree. But this was one friend who was very not happy! And she wasn't about to leave a friend who was in desperate need to smile! Besides... she was on a mission to help her with her previous thought (the making lots more friends mission)... she just got... a little distracted along the way.

"Well, I was going to do that!" she started, "But I have to get all this stuff together to do it! First I need the streamers - which I guess I could talk to Rarity about, but I don't know how she'd react to making confetti out of fabric - there's all the baked goodies I'd need to get made - which I guess I could talk to Applejack about, it would give her something to do to keep her mind off of losing Sweet Apple Acres, but she is oooooh so awesome at making yummy treats and things -" She took a deep breath. "Not to mention all the party games, music and invitations to make - I could always talk to Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Twilight for all those things - but the biggest most important thing of all would be to find a way to get my Party Cannon back! I never went anywhere without my Party Cannon before." She pulled a picture from her mane of her and her friends all laughing and dodging the confetti blasting from her beloved Party Cannon. She then thrust the picture towards Cosworth so he could see. "See? That's my Party Cannon! I had to leave it behind when we came here..." she trailed then blinked.

Cosworth wasn't trying to push her away, was he?! He was much to unhappy to be being left alone right now! "Wait..." she began to protest then her eyes got all shifty, like she was searching the back of her brain for something important. She drummed her fingers on the outside of her megaphone and nibbled her lip. ... And then she found it! Her eyes lit up and she beamed a great big smile.

In a skinny minute, she thrusted the megaphone back into her tail and her photo back into her mane. She then darted towards his train and stopped outside it to bounce in place in excitement and giggled! "I can TOTALLY help you fix this!" Granted, she wouldn't know how, but you never really knew until you tried, right?!

Besides - in Pinkie's mind - Cosworth needed a friend right now! And Pinkie Pie was determined to be just that friend!

"I know how to take care of a burn, young lady." Cosworth said with considerable restraint. He was trying not to let his annoyance show. Although he must have let his mask slip a bit because the young Fauny was suddenly far too apologetic. Of course if she had another pitcher of cold water around, that might help. He imagined that, half-hoping this girl would sense it and magically pull one out of nowhere... No? Well it was worth a try.

The next moment, it sounded like she was throwing names of other Pae she knew at him. At least he thought they might be other Pae. They sounded like pet names to Cosworth, but perhaps times and styles had once again moved on without him. And then she was talking about a-

Cosworth blinked as a... He had no idea what it was. It was a picture of something cylindrical with wheels attached to it. Something was shooting out of the front of it at great speed, colourful and bright. He was lost for words for a moment- more of these alien devices painted on a stiff piece of card so real-looking, he suspected it wasn't paint at all. He silently filed away his observations and ideas, for now. Although he was intrigued by these outsiders' technology, it occurred to him that this entirely unique form of Faun had an entire culture they brought with them, and perhaps just as much that they had to leave behind.

Cosworth's expression once more turned from tactful disinterest to alarm as the Pink one once more moved towards his current project. "Actually, nononoNO wait!" Cosworth bounded around between her and the engine, refraining from actually pushing her back, but doing his best to loom a little over her- he was, after all, a little taller than most other Faun. "Please, I don't think there's anything you can do." That wasn't entirely true, though. It would be a lot easier with two Faun to melt down the remains of the boiler and re-cast it, but that would take days and he certainly didn't want her around for days. He added, "Besides, I don't think you'd have the time anyway."

It was more than him not wanting her company. He had an intact drive assembly that she had not yet laid either hand or hoof on, and he wanted to keep it that way. If there were anyone else living around her he might have directed her that way, but the specific reason he moved to this patch of forest was that there was nobody here. "I'm guessing you're familiar with the great tree, Laisidhiel. You should hop on back there, you won't find any more Faun out this way."

Pinkie's ears fell backward. He really did want her to leave. Her lip puckered out and quivered a bit. "O-okay. If... that's what you want. I'll leave you alone..." she drooped and started to walk off.

Her hooves shuffled along, only glancing over her shoulder once as she neared the limit of eye contact. He looked so sad and lonely all by himself! It tore at Pinkie's heart a little too much! She stopped and steeled herself, looking for a quick and easy solution. Cosworth NEEDED a friend! And Pinkie wouldn't be satisfied until she saw him smile. And not the 'I'm going to smile if it'll make you go away' kind of smile. She wanted to see him show the 'I'm smiling because you made me the happiest Pony Faun in all of Equestria Telrunya!' kind of smile!

Her nose scrunched and she thought really hard... and then, that dim light-bulb of Pinkie's exploded into a flurry of brilliant Yay-ness! With a perky little giggle and a bound in her prance, she skipped her way back towards Laisidhiel!

((*Later that afternoon*))

"Ooooohhhh COOOOOSSSWoooorrrrtthhh!" she half sang, half called out as she skipped back into the clearing with a large container of cool water (it had a lid to keep it from spilling), a couple of cups, a basket of fruits from her friends back at the tree and another one of her trademark wide grins!

"I brought you a snack! And some extra cold water in case you were to burn yourself again." she giggled and parked the stuff on a clean corner of the table. "How's your train coming! Is there anything you need any help with? All you gotta do is tell me what to do it and I'll be your pal for the job!"

PostPosted: Sun Sep 08, 2013 9:16 pm

Cosworth had started to watch the pink fauny leave, but quickly turned around when he noticed she was beginning to glance his way. Oh, he felt a pang of remorse at heavy-handedly persuading her to leave his home, but he sighed with relief once he was sure she was out of sight. After all, it wasn't every day someone just showed up uninvited, destroyed a couple of months work and then insisted on staying, even if it was to try and help.

Perhaps if the weathered engineer'd wasn't so sleep-deprived, he might have been a little more welcoming. Then again, if he'd been more awake, he might have also been a lot more enraged at the destruction of his machine. The thought of it made his temples hurt a little, and he grumbled something about 'Those bloody kids' before he tried to shove the anger from his mind.

Cosworth wearily stepped back to the wreckage strewn across his lawn and sighed as he picked up a large piece of boiler plate, by now cool enough to touch. As he turned it over in his hands, examining the jagged edges of the broken metal, the sight of a strange leaf on the ground by his hoof caught his eye. He sighed, recognizing it as one of the leaves from his antlers. And he only had two on there. The engineer raised a hand to feel the tips of his antlers, and sure enough, both leaves were missing. Great. Well, that would take the better part of a fortnight to grow back, not that it had ever bothered him before. Only difference was the last couple of times that had happened, it had been his own fault. Cosworth absentmindedly kicked another loose piece of metal before he set to work clearing the mess.

After the passing of an indeterminate amount of time~

The brown faun was fast asleep, under one of the trees at the edge of his clearing when Pinkie Pie returned. He did not snore, nor did he stir at the sound of Pinkie's voice, and was practically invisible against the brown trunk of the tree we was resting against.

He'd been busy- by now the yard had been mostly cleared of debris. Most of the piping and intact machinery on his engine was still in place, but all the damaged parts had been removed. The grass had been picked clean of metal chunks, which had by now been piled roughly alongside his rough smelter.

Pinkie's return hadn't gone entirely unnoticed, however. A small, grimy, grey orb floated out from the woods, its two brass-coloured eyes seeking out the owner of the high-pitched voice that had entered Cosworth's yard. It cooed softly just as it got within a couple of feet of the pink Fauny, its large wings making more of a fluttering noise than a buzzing noise. The creature flew straight at Pinkie's face, tilting itself sideways slightly out of curiosity, and only stopping an inch from her nose. It slowly turned as it seemed to smell something, then looked down at the food she'd brought with her.

As Pinkie turned, she spotted Cosworth sleeping soundly nearby. He eyes softened and she smiled a bit to himself. 'Maybe cleaning up his train tuckered him out!' she thought to herself. She took a few careful steps backwards and giggled to herself.

"If he didn't hear me shouting a moment ago, then he's deeep in a sleep. This will be a perfect time for me to get his surprise built in time! And by me, I mean my fr--"

The gentle trill from the parasprite, and it's sudden appearance a mere centimeter from her face made her freeze in mid-pose. Her eye twitched and her lips seemed to force themselves into a grin.

That is... until she noticed the Parasprite's eyes drifting down to her basket.

"Oh, Nononono! This food isn't for you!" she half sneered, twisting her body so the basket was no longer in it's direct sight. "I know what happens when you guys eat! So don't think for a minute I'm going to give you any food!" she threatened, wagging a finger at the small creature's face.

Pinkie's eyes then popped wide open with an over-dramatic gasp to match. "OMIGOSH!" she nearly shrieked. "We must have accidentally brought you with us from Equestria!! Oh no! This isn't good! This is bad. Bad. Bad. Bad bad. Bad bad bad!"

Still holding the basket close to her - she wasn't about to let it out of her sight now with the Parasprite around - she began to pace in an over-worried fashion. How in the hoof was she supposed to draw the Parasprites away from Laisidhiel?! The Faun didn't have much in the way of instruments... not that she had seen, anyways. And all of her instruments were left back in Equestria!!

In the mean time - from the other side of his cabin from where they were - small intervals of hammering and sawing could be heard in the distance.
