Palatine could not pinpoint the exact location of a fellow powered individual, but she at least had a general idea of where they might be and therefore knew if she should avoid an area on the nights she chose to patrol. For the most part, she wandered around by herself, searching for monsters and not feeling too terribly upset if none happened to turn up. She avoided dark energy signatures the best she could, and treated the kinder ones with infrequent interest that occasionally resulted in a conversation with an ally.
She often wondered if this was a poor practice on her part and considered getting further involved, but she hesitated just as frequently. As always, there was some excuse holding her back—work, her niece, her kids, which usually happened to be the very same things that sent her out here in the first place.
In many ways she was a coward.
Some nights she was okay with that.
Other nights she stewed in her guilt and wondered what the hell she was doing with her life.
This evening Palatine was on the trail of another knightly aura, bored of her usual practices and willing to try another encounter provided it didn't turn out as awkwardly as she feared it might. She glanced around, unsure if she was getting closer or if it was even worth the effort, tempted to turn around and head home when she caught sight of a figure in the distance.
She was a little surprised when she noticed the figure in question was clothed in froofy pink.Orangeish Sherbert Sorry for the delay on this, bb! emo

Caelian was off in her own world on this patrol, and didn’t really notice the approaching aura until palatine was right up on her. She blinked and looked around, seeing another woman, another older woman in a pink outfit.
Wearing Venus symbols all over it. The Squire’s face lit up like it was Christmas. “Hi! Oh, hello! I uh. You’re a Venus page? I didn’t even know there was another one of us! Oh this is wonderful!” She all but skipped over to the other woman and held out a hand. “My name is Caelian! I’m a squire of Venus, but I’m sure you could tell already! Oh, oh this is wonderful! You’re the third other that I’ve met, so that means there are at least four Venus knights out there. How wonderful indeed!”
Esquline and Aventine and Cealian…and now this one. Other Venus knights just kept coming out of the woodwork. Caelian was very pleased. Whenever a new one showed up, it felt like she was just a little bit less alone in this war.

She had not been expecting such an exuberant reaction.
“I... uh... Palatine...” she introduced herself, along with, “... page... yes... right, Venus...” as she took the other woman's hand in return.
Palatine stopped herself from taking a step back before she could seem rude or awkward and instead forced herself to face Caelian's cheer and excitement as gracefully as was possible. In looking the other woman over she was pleased to note that Caelian was not quite as young as she'd grown to expect from powered individuals. Sessrumnir's warning of their general youth always sprang to mind when she met new people, but so far she had been pleasantly relieved to meet knights a bit closer to her age than she'd been fearing they'd be.
Camelot, Alfheim, even Sessrumnir wasn't terrible in his late twenties (just an a**), another page during the Hidden Temple, and now this woman. Not too bad.
“There are more?” she wondered. Wasn't it polite to seem interested? And she was, sort of. Just... not as ecstatically so. “I've never met them. You'd be the first. I've met a Jupiter squire, a couple of Earth knights of varying ranks, not much beyond that. And Neptune, I think, but that was brief. I'd thought I was the only one.”
