This RP is between Pavolv (Angelique DelaMort) and Beatrix (akuma_kessaku) "Well...this isn't my worst idea ever, I don't think," a shaky stallion muttered to himself in the dark of night, his voice and hoof falls disturbing the silence of the inky path that wound through a stark tree line. At least he assumed it was a stark tree line. It was the last time he was here. Zah had said that she needed to go talk to a horse about a man or...something like that. He really hadn't understood what she was talking about. What he Did understand was she too sweetly asked if he would like to accompany her, meaning this little adventure was going to lead to trouble. Now Pavlov had made a habit of doing his very best to avoid trouble. It didn't always work. Actually considering his gift he always found trouble. Like now. Here. In the dark woods.
Pavlov was pretty sure he heard rustling in the bushes that must have been between the stark trees, the ones that he was pretty sure lined this path. Hard to be positive of anything in the dark, to be honest. That was why he liked to stick with Zah when it was dark, and also most of the time when it was light. Because odds were very good that the rustling that seemed to be following was heard only by his ears, not only because he was the only one on this deserted path, but because they were one of his visions. It might not be fair to call the apparitions visions, they could have been hallucinations - a clear sign that he was insane. Or maybe he was the only one that could see these very real horrors and he had some responsibility in protecting others from them. Of course that meant he had to watch out for himself or rather have Zah watch out for him since she could make the monsters disappear. But here he was alone in a dark path without her and that rustling was getting louder.
"Not there..." he whispered. "Not there, there's nothing there, just a little squirrel, yes, that's it - just a little squirrel, that's all."

While out on a late night stroll Beatrix happened upon a most interesting sight; a newcomer, and though he looked right at place in the dying forest around him, he trembled with each step muttering soft words of encouragement to himself. A twinge of her mischievous nature struck her suddenly as she tailed him out of sight. It had been a long time since she found forest folk who didn’t want to eat her, and something had told her that this one didn’t exactly know what he was getting himself into, wandering the forest so very late at night. Though, she had to know what he was up to, so silently she dodged in and out of the tree line, keeping her curly pink mop low to the ground and out of sight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As they inched closer and closer to the cursed graveyard, Bea’s hair began standing on end. It was far too late to be out, and far too close to the graveyard that surely held some hungry walkers. Creeping ahead of him she snuck into the shrub line and waited for him.
“Ppppssssssssssssstt-” she whisper intended to be heard but low enough to indicate that silence is necessary, her purl horn jutting out like a branch stripped of bark, “Pppsssssssssssssstt- Heyyou… Get in the bushes…”
Sure, bushes weren’t ideal cover, but they would be out of direct eyesight, and she would be able to get a bit more information about what he is doing this deep in the woods.
"That's not a squirrel..." Pavlov whined to himself. Still, whatever it was wasn't jumping out at him or trying to gobble him up, or wrap him up in vine like testicles, or make his insides his outsides so...yeah, so not the worst night ever, not yet. But still, it wanted him to leave the path - "it" being the voice that had come out of the shaky bush with the horn, what could that horn be attached to anyways? Rhinoceroses had horns but they weren't really native to this part of the world.... why was his mind prattling on about rhinoceroses and horns when he was in the woods in the middle of the night with a bush hissing at him? Well, maybe it wasn't part of his visions that caused the voice and strange shape, but he could never be too careful. "Um, helloooooo?" he whispered back, weakly.
Beatrix had realized the risk she was taking by helping this stallion, but it had been what seemed like ages since she had decent company that didn't want to eat her, and despite how much she loved her mother she was starting to get on her nerves.
Peering out of the bushes just enough to be seen by his eyes she attempted to talk some sense into him, "listen here," she began, "Its the middle of the night, you're clearly lost, and I know for certain you mere feet from walker territory and heading straight for it."she paused a moment to let her words sink in, "So how about you get in these bushes, stay quiet and maybe I can get the both of us to safety without being seen."Angelique DelaMort >< Sorry its taking so long... Life should start slowing down some now though! -crosses fingers-
"Walkers? Here?" Pavlov blanched. Those were most certainly not figments of his imagination and could most definitely gobble him up. Those were facts. He crouched down close to the ground and edged closer to the bushes, "But um, there's only one path?" Leaving the path was never a good plan for Pavlov, things just became more strange and twisted if he left the at least somewhat defined trail.akuma_kessaku No worries - my life doesn't seem to slow down, I'm relieved I haven't left you waiting forever ^^;
Beatrix chuckled, "There's never just one path, silly. You just have to open your eyes and look..." Noting the tremor in his step she smirked, "Or just stick close and I'll get you someplace safe."
Moving slow at first she guided him through the woods, making cheerful nickering noises as she picked up the pace to an energetic canter. Soon she reached where the river forks at the tip of the delta in the eastern lands and collapsed at the base of a tree. "Whew! That was intense for a moment there. I can't believe how close you were to walking into the graveyard... Foolish. What are you doing way out here this late at night?"Angelique DelaMort O.O I am so sorry this took so long... Things just kind of fell apart for a moment there and I just gave it a rest for a bit. Hopefully things will be getting back on track now and I will become more active.
Pavlov chuckled nervously, "Would you believe I was trying to stay out of trouble?" He shook his head bashfully. "Which worked about as well as it usually does." He cringed thinking of how close he had come to real, undeniable horror that night. Walkers were bad news and not the imaginary type that he usually dealt with. Nope, these were real "let me just rip the skin from your bones while you watch" monsters. At least his demons he could usually just will away. Eventually. "So, um, miss...Thank you. But if that area was so very dangerous, why we're you there?" akuma_kessaku Beatrix chuckled, "There's never just one path, silly. You just have to open your eyes and look..." Noting the tremor in his step she smirked, "Or just stick close and I'll get you someplace safe."
Beatrix giggled, "I live here, Silly!" she circled a patch of tall grass and collapsed in a heap on top of it, "Or maybe I'm silly for living here..." She snorted, "As for why I was where you were... Just happened to be in the right place at the right time, I guess." she flailed her limbs playfully, "I often scout out the area around which I live... Gotta scare off the ghoulies before you go to bed, y'know."
"Also, Call me Beatrix, or Bea," she insisted, "So, You're pretty good at staying out of trouble, huh? How many other unlucky run-ins have you had?" rolling upright Beatrix looked at him, "Make yourself comfortable. We're safe for the moment... I'll wake you if we need to move."
"Ghoulies..." He gulped thinking of some of the 'ghoulies' he'd seen in his lifetime. "Right, right...um, me? Trouble? Miss Beatrix, um, Bea, I uh, don't really try to find trouble. It's more like it finds me." He tentatively folded his legs under his stomach as he settled warily to the ground. "Finds me a lot, actually. It's kind of my curse..." He glanced over at her, "But that's kinda a long story. Oh, and I'm Pavlov. That's, uh, that's my name." (Oh yay - you're still around! heart )
Betrix began to settle into her bed of flattened grass, "Well, we have the whole night for stories, but if you're tired we can always wait until morning," She yawned, her head flopping to the earth with a sigh.
Beatrixs' ears began fiercely twitching. she shook her had trying to brush it off, but the twitching persisted. Shooting up from the grass Beatrix shouted, "Alright Mom! We'll go to bed! Sheesh!"
After her outburst she settled back into her bed she buried her face in the grass, "Mom says its best to keep quiet at night... We can talk in the morning."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the morning light, Beatrix's home was quite beautiful. There was a giant curly willow that grew where the rivers divided, Red and white swamp flowers dotted the border of the property with various varieties of wild flowers consuming all of the earth not occupied by trees or bushes. Three giant thorny rose bushes encircled the far end of the clearing, though they had very few roses on them. The base of the willow had what looked like a rock monument, encircled by picked flowers. Not far from that was a patch of tall grass, Beatrix has claimed for her bed. And opposite hers is another patch of grass in which could be occupied by any guests that might visit.
As the light seeped through the thick forest, Beatrix woke and shook the dew from her coat. She stretched, walked around her clearing, then flopped on her rump over by her bed, "Good Mooooooooorning~" she chimed trying to rouse her sleeping guest.

Pavlov lifted his head slowly, groggily, a side effect from trying very hard to sleep with one eye open all night. Trying is the key word in this case because though he attempted to keep watch, especially after the mare's sudden outburst before bed time. Pavlov, of course had not seen the other figure in the conversation, not that that should worry him so much. After all, Pavlov often saw things that others could not and was....persuaded from time to time to interact with them. Of course he didn't usually talk to them. If you talked to them then they had to be real and some of the things he saw just couldn't be real. He refused to accept that...
"Um, Morning?" he replied hesitantly. In the day light he began to take in their surroundings and noted first the vegetation and the murky waters nearby.

"Should we search for breakfast or..." she paused omniously, "Would you like to explain to me what brings you way out in the sticks, in the dead of the night, when all the creepy crawlies that wanna nom your face off come out?"
Beatrix wiggled with anticipation of the drowsy Pavlov's explanation. She didn't have too many guests where she lives, so she likes to get to know everything about the ones she is able to lure to her lair.

"Oh," Pavlov replied quietly blinking his eyes a few times. "Well, um, breakfast doesn't sound like a bad idea to..." He stopped when he saw the anxious look in the mare's eyes. "Well, I suppose that can wait. I don't suppose you'd believe I got lost, would you?"

“I would hope so...” Beatrix snorted, “not too many soquili would dare come out here for a vacation; nor alone for that matter.” She got the feeling that trying to get some information out of him was going to be like pulling teeth, “can you walk and talk, or do you want to wait here until I’ve successfully coaxed you’re story out of you?”
The Aa-wi-u-s-di Plains were about an hours walk away, if you were taking it at a leisurely pace, but could easily be made in a shorter length of time. Beatrix wasn't looking forward to losing her guest but was sure he was eager to get back to wherever he was from.

"A vacation, huh?" Pavlov tiled his head to the side. "I don't think I've ever managed to go on one of those..." He stood and stretched, noting that the grass around him seemed to almost be writhing, wriggling towards him... hungrily. "Actually, walking sounds like a very good thing right now!" He said quickly starting to move off in the nearest direction. "I can walk and talk quite well actually. Where are we going? I think we should go there quickly..."
