Derpy's appearance!Derpy, referred to by name, in an actual episode. Pretty awesome. When I first heard "careful derpy" I had to pause my TV and run around screaming, too excited to even watch it at that moment in time; needless to say, it was an amazing time. But, since then, it's been praised by many, condemned by others, and down right hated by some. To be honest, when I first heard Derpy speak, I was a little disappointed. She didn't seem to sound very good, or even like a female; then, Derpy, destroyed the town center and nearly killed Rainbow dash with lightning. Don't really see the point on that. The voice sucked. The situation, sucked. The voice did not sound good at all. My initial reaction was one of happiness for derpy being in the show, and then one of sadness and confusion when I saw the events unfold. Never the less, I was happy. After I went through, and read about it, it said that the voice actor was generally thought of as terrible by Hasbro and the new voice actor said they were trying to sound like "a boy". When I went back and rewatched it a few times, the voice honestly didn't bother me as much, particularly considering the nasalness of the voice wasn't so pronounced. But why so nasally? Unfortunately, this is how mentally disabled people are portrayed in the media, so initially, I was somewhat shocked by Derpy's sound being particularly like this. Although, I later realized that it didn't sound so bad, after review, and that since most mentally disabled people don't sound like this it wasn't a reflection of them. I also never viewed Derpy as mentally disabled, but just with googly eyes and a little bit clusmy, say with bad hoof eye coordination. I would have liked more to be done with Derpy, say the episode involve her a lot, and more to be said about Derpy. Perhaps later we will see her as a mail person; hopefully with a better voice actor. "Hey Derpy, you getting over that cold?"; different voice, etc., as she's delivering mail. Additionally, perhaps she could be in the scene longer or provide a more constructive role. Over-all, I appreciated her being in there, and being given a speaking part, since she was a major part of the show, and it's a tip to the fans; also naming her "Derpy". Perhaps the name is Derpy Dittzy, idk. BUT YEAH! So what is your take on the situation?
