User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Thom could only guess what the Seer of faun people looked like. He hadn't really remembered or even thought to ask Ama what she looked like. It was a error of his in hindsight, but then he didn't imagine there to be many fauns there. He wasn't sure if he'd arrive first or not, he'd left both girls with Ama and left shortly after she gave him her news. Thom wanted to stay and console her for her loss of the position on the council he knew it had meant a lot to her... but this... meant a lot to both of them, so he knew he had to take care of it right away. He just hoped she didn't pull too many hairs out in his absence, Celaeno had a habit of pushing every button of Ama's she could.

A days trek led him to a small open area that held the healing house, he looked around for a moment and then opened the door and moved inside. A quick glance around showed Thom what kind of place this was, he just hoped there would be a quiet place to talk.

Voices filtered from the other room, but of those who emerged, none were Faun. Most were Avalon Fairies, workers of the Healing House. A larger Fairy hovered beside a winged female Pae, the two speaking in swift, but quiet tones.

"Of course, Matriarch," the Pae'il replied, taking the Fairy's hands in her own delicately, with a bow of her head. "I'll return within three moons with the herbs. I just have some quick business to do for the Tree."

"Skitter along, you little doe," the Matriarch snapped, waving her hands briskly in the air in a 'shooing' motion. "The sooner you get that done, the sooner I get my herbs! Now off with you!" Despite her tone, she wore a smile as the Pae backed away with a polite bow. Then, she turned her eyes on the male angel gawking in the entrance way and her expression darkened. "Ugh, your charge is here. Best get moving before I sic my girls on him."

The Pae'il was quick to move towards Thom, pointedly directing him back towards the door. "At once, ma'am. Have a pleasant day, ma'am."

"I might now!" was the only answer the Matriarch barked, turning and retreating back into the Healing House, her entourage following behind.

Only after they had gone did the Pae'il seem to relax...if only for a second. Then she turned her eyes on Thom. "Are you the one?" she asked enigmatically. She seemed to look him over for a time, her expression neutral if a bit serious. "I sensed your approach, but was not told what you would look like. Only that I would need to escort you if you'd gotten lost and ended up in my domain."

Thom's thoughts were interrupted by the green pae who came up to him. He'd not expected to be approached by anyone but a faun. This couldn't be their seer could it? That wouldn't make sense at all, at least not in his mind. But then... he had presumed the one who was the seer would know exactly who he was so this couldn't be her, though her examining him made him a touch nervous.

"The one?" he wasn't quite sure what she meant but he was going to take a wild guess. "I guess I am, I'm Thom... I was told to report to the Seer of the Fauns..." this pae said she sensed his approach, did this make her a seer of some form? Well all he could do was wait and see what she told him.

The angel's confusion seemed to amuse her and the forest demon responded with a slight smile. "Yes, well...the Great Tree is north of here. You've come a little too far south. It's alright; I was warned you might end up here instead. I'll be your escort to the Seer."

She gestured towards the door, then led the way outside. "I am Silvana. I watch over these forests to the south of the Tree. I suppose the Seer knew that if anyone were to find you off-course, it would be me." She was already walking away from the Healing House, her steps light on the forest floor. "It is some distance to the Tree...a bit of a run, unless you'd prefer to fly? Ground or air, what is your preference for speed?"

The confusion cleared up on Thom's face as the pae explained who she was "I see, oops... Guess better directions were something i should have asked Ama for" he seemed a lil embarrassed if only for a moment. He followed her out of the building and into the forest. He listened to more of Silvana's explanation and nodded "I suppose by air would make it go faster then here in the trees." He was quite sure that while she was following a request given her she had many other things to do that were just as important if not more important then escorting a lost angel to the correct location.

Silvana chuckled lightly in reply, looking about as they'd entered an area of fewer trees. "Speed is key then; wouldn't want you to be late. For myself, I've always felt I could move more swiftly over the Earth, at least over level ground. Think you can keep an eye on me from the air?"

She stepped a few feet away and her form shimmered before starting to shift. In moments, a silvery-blue doe stood staring at the angel curiously. She glanced towards the north, then back at Thom, before darting off in that direction. She stopped several yards ahead to look back and see if he followed, ready to lead the way.

When the pae shifted shapes he was taken aback it surprised him, he'd not seen anyone do this. But when she took off and zipped ahead he followed after her. Despite the distance ahead of him that Silvana was he had no problem keeping track of where she'd gone and following.

Once they'd arrived and set down to the ground once more Thom spoke "Thanks for the escort, I appreciate it." He told her before he turned to look up at the massive tree across the grass and bridge away from them, how he'd missed going the correct direction to this tree was beyond him. "Wow, that has to be the biggest tree I've ever seen" he muses to himself softly. He didn't approach the tree further he just stared at the tree in awe.

Having covered much of the distance by this point, Silvana shifted back into her normal demonic form, folding her wings behind her as they reappeared. She hid some amusement at the male's disbelief, adding only "And it's still a few miles yet to the Tree. It's bigger up close."

She paused beside the male, then nodded ahead. Still some length to go, but she'd stay in this form to answer if he had further questions. She knew that he at least would stand out against the landscape, and likely some of the Tree's guard would have reported their approach before they arrived. "Come, they will be waiting," she said simply, starting off once more.

He'd not realized he was yet not all that close, seeing the tree even from just this view he was almost surprised Ama didn't chose to live there instead of with him before they became a couple. Thom hurried after his escort, she was right they'd be waiting for him, was bad enough he'd taken longer then he should have to arrive. Even though he followed after her his eyes were still locked on the massive tree ahead of them. Though the closer he got to the Tree the more nervous he was about visit with the Seer.

By the time Thom had stopped starring at the Tree and looked around again they were there. He'd never been so close to the Tree before even when the city was close by.

Slowing to a halt, Silvana paused, then stepped back a bit to stretch out after such a workout. She had to make the return trip back shortly, afterall, but perhaps a short rest wasn't out of the question. Her golden eyes watched the Faun approaching and she knew they'd been seen long ago.

Emerging from the grand entrance way of the Great Tree, the Seer descended the steps carefully, her staff the only guidance or help she'd allow. Image was important today, as she'd been stressed upon by the Chieftain. And as much as she hadn't liked the idea, she was escorted whether she liked it or not. It was for her own safety. She would have argued more, had she not recalled her incident with the troublesome youth not that long ago.

Besides, she didn't have much experience aside from her visions with dealing with Blood Pae'il face-to-face. She'd have been lying if she tried to suggest that she wasn't already antsy about this meeting for her own reasons. She'd observed them from afar in her youth, but more recent dealings, well...

It was hard to look forward to meeting those who routinely brought about your death in your dreams.

The strange golden aura was out of place amongst all the green of Laisidhiel's own, so at least he was easy to find. Noting a familiar aura nearby, Vanya's tension eased somewhat, allowing her to smile. "Silvana, dear! You got my message, I see."

Silvana stepped fowards towards the dark Faun, bowing in respect. "Yes, ma'am. He showed up looking lost at the Healing Houses. I managed to get him out before the Matriarch got hold of him," she chuckled softly.

An odd smile from the Seer. "I haven't had the pleasure of meeting her, but from what I understand, he may be lucky to have escaped in one piece then. He may owe you his life, dear." Well, unfortunately, they couldn't small talk forever; there was business to be done. "Will you stay for a while? You know you're welcome to."

"Thank you," Silvana answered with a bow. "But, I need to get back. I have promises to keep. I will take a short rest before heading back though."

"Of course. Travel with the Earth's blessings, dear," Vanya responded, taking the forest demon's hand briefly before she departed for the Tree. Then, it was time for business. This was her job, it was up to her to do it; she was the only one who could.

Subtly taking a deep breath to brace herself, she turned towards the Pae'il with the odd golden aura. She forced down the natural unease that it gave her, and tried to keep her expression neutral. "You are the one our..." she paused, seeming to pointedly correct herself, "...former Pathfinder spoke of, I take it? I am Lady Vanya, Seer, Healer, and Spiritual Guide to the Faun of Laisidhiel," she introduced herself using her full name and title, once more thinking of the gravity of the situation.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Gulliver followed behind his Seer at a respectable yet protective distance, some of his rangers positioned out of sight, relaxed but at the ready should anything happen. He nodded a greeting to the demon before settling his gaze on the rainbowy pae. He wondered what exactly their former Pathfinder saw in him, he didn't seem different then any other that he'd watched over his time as Captain.

Thom looked to the dark faun and those with her as they approached. He listened to the exchange between his escort and the female faun. When she turned to him his nervousness reached it's peak, well here went nothing, there was no turning back from his word to Ama now. Taking a steadying breath he nodded and spoke "It is an honor to meet you Lady Vanya, I'm Thom, Ama told me my presence was expected. And that she had conveyed what I had said to her." Her expression gave him no hints to her feelings toward him at all which did nothing to ease his nervousness.

Vanya listened carefully, no sign in his words as of yet of deception. They were only getting started, however. "As I have been told, you have expressed wishes to join those of us who serve the Tree. I cannot pretend to understand your motives, given your background, but that is the purpose of this meeting. I am here to give you a 'reading,' to help understand your motives as well as..." she paused to consider her words carefully. "...to offer my opinion on whether or not it is likely Laisidhiel will accept your offer." It was true that her opinion would be weighed before allowing the Angel to even attempt to continue, but...it was more to see if the Angel proved any sort of direct threat to the Faun, or if he was as innocent as Amadorine had claimed.

A moment, and the Seer cursed silently. If the chairs and table awaited as she'd requested...she'd need help finding them. Best not to make a scene about it. "If you'd like, we can take a seat?" she half offered, half questioned, holding her arm out for one of the guards. She sensed one moving towards her, taking her arm to guide her gently to the waiting area. It was nothing fancy, but it didn't need to be. Hand out for the back of the wooden chair, as soon as it was within reach, she smiled and nodded to the guard who stepped aside. She seated herself, and waited for the golden aura to do the same.

"We'll start this both simply, and bluntly," she intoned evenly. Keep calm, Vanya. Think back to your youth. This is a good time to regress to those days when you weren't as in touch with your emotions. Keep a blank front, keep your mind clear, and focused on the task.

"We'll start with a question only." She wasn't ready to start digging into the strange Blood Pae's head just yet. "Why is it that you suddenly feel the need to swear your loyalty and allegiance to Laisidhiel, when doing so would go against your very nature?"

Thom moved to the table and chairs and took a the seat across from the Seer. What she explained to him made perfect sense. After all what he was looking to do was definitely not in the ordinary scope of things that would happen in a day. He was glad she wasn't beating around the bush he had a feeling if she hadn't, the nervousness he felt wouldn't break.

He took a breath and then started speaking "Well Lady Vanya my reasoning is only onefold. I love Ama, I love her deeply. I have plenty of failures in my past, I am determined to not let this fail, to not screw up like I have in the past. Ama is very loyal and protective of her kind, and to be honest I don't feel that way about my own kind. All my failures and shortcomings in the past revolved around the angels. I just don't feel that sense of compassion, caring or loyalty to them as I do towards Ama."

Thom's eyes looked at his hands which during his speaking he had clasped together loosely on the table's surface. "Call me crazy, but I want to be with her, even if doing so goes against the very nature of what I am." his voice was softer with his final sentence then the first portion of his answer.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 08, 2013 2:32 pm

Vanya listened carefully, considering his words before speaking. "Love is a better reason to take action than hate," she acknowledged. "However, sometimes it's not enough on its own." She folded her hands on top of the table, seeming more at ease than she felt. "It is a nice gesture for a loved one, but a rather extreme one and not to be taken lightly. If you truly wish to live as the Faun do, then you must understand our ways and adopt them as your own. You speak of your compassion and loyalty to Amadorine...but what of other Faun? In Faun society, all are extended family, brothers and sisters. You must be willing to sacrifice yourself for others, not just one particular Faun. And above all that, we all serve the Tree. Should the need arise, Faun will fight and die for Laisidhiel. Would you be willing to do the same?"

She leaned back, allowing the question to sink in. "As I said, not a step to be taken lightly." Was this angel so far removed from his own kind in truth? In a way, it made her sad, to think of being so detached from one's people. No wonder the Blood Pae were so troubled, if this was considered normal for their kind. Still, pity would not lead her into foolishness.

"I wonder," she started in a thoughtful tone, "if you fully comprehend the gravity of your request." What did the Blood Pae'il teach their own about the war? How did they justify such wanton destruction fueled by greed? Or, did they leave their own people in the dark on such matters? For that matter, what would Amadorine have shared with this one, if she truly trusted him as she said? "We speak of this going against your nature to even consider. Such a thing has never been attempted before. All those who have come to us from the outside before have all been Faun, or had other connections to the Tree already. I cannot say if such an attempt will be successful, or if it might even be dangerous to try. What if it is? What if the risk is upon your head? What if the mere attempt may kill you? At the best of worst situations, what if Laisidhiel rejects your request? What then?"

How dedicated was the angel to his cause, she wondered. She could practically feel nervous energy radiating off of him; it did nothing to ease her own nerves.

So far her questions seemed normal, he had half expected more of a interrogation then just a questioning of what his reasons were. Her seemingly at ease posture and the basic simplicity of the questions being post very slowly started to ease his state of mind. "I understand mi'lady, and yes I am willing to learn and adopt the ways of the faun. I understand that in itself would be a vast undertaking, before I met Amadorine I lived a lifestyle of solitude on the mountain for a very long time, I had to learn how to live like that too." He paused a moment, he'd never really gotten to know other fauns though he'd met a few in passing at gatherings he'd attended with Ama since his return. Sisters and brothers? well certainly he didn't seem to have any left among the angels, they never contacted him if he had. But then he was already in plans to marry Ama, if she considered them all brothers and sisters didn't that already start to make them in a way to be his too?

When he started speaking again his answer was not rushed, he wanted to convey his thoughts in the right way. "I believe... that I would, for obvious reasons Ama holds the place inside me the closest to my heart, but certainly also extends to encompass the two teenage pae that joined my home that we consider our daughters, as well as the pae that branch out from our family. For me that is truly all on Ama's side, meaning her sisters and brethren. Mi'lady I"m not really a young pae I will admit that, I have had two mates prior to Ama, I've had four children prior to our relationship. I was born with 2 siblings, and of course aunts uncles and grandparents. I have no contact with any of them. Not even my other children, I have not seen or heard from them for many many seasons. I feel no connection with them or the angels I've met since I returned from the mountain. I feel a connection when I'm with Ama, a faun, if asking to be considered to be allowed to swear a fealty to the ones I feel a connection to brings the responsibility of being willing to lay down my life for not only her but her kind, I'll accept that responsibility with all that I am."

Again he paused thinking about her next statement. Risks, He supposed nothing in life came without a risk, just as no action fails to cause a reaction. "There is always a risk in everything we do mi'lady, even if the action is perceived as safe. And it is a risk I will have to take if the decision is made to allow me to make my request to Laisidhiel. I understand there is a chance I will be denied, but if my life isn't taken in the process of the attempt I still intend to have Ama as my mate. And her family still becomes my family in this far stretched form, and I will still protect my family if the need arrises."
