From what I hear from most cat owners, cats can be pretty bossy, especially around food time. cat_whee So how does your cat get your attention/wake you up?
My torbie Mochi pushes my stuff (including expensive perfume) off the shelf, meows loudly, rattles the blinds, walks all over me, and nibbles my arm. One time she even bit me in the crotch cat_gonk
My boy Boo just waits patiently, or he tries to pull my covers off. cat_surprised

I'm actually hugely lucky with my current batch of kitties. Nightshade had a stage where he'd arrive, purring, and sit next to my head for long enough to wake me up every morning - while it was still dark... but he's gotten over it. Minstrel doesn't start doing anything until about 8am, or later, and even then, he just wanders off into the hallway and croaks to himself a bit. So I can sleep of a morning!
My last boy, Cricket, used to wake me up with meowing, for the most part. There was an art to getting him back to sleep, but it's highly complex and hard to explain in writing... There was one notable occasion where I was dreaming of standing on our back verandah with one of my Mum's climbing roses blowing in the wind and whacking my face - I woke up to see Cricket staring at my nose from close quarters and drawing his paw back to hit me again!

I only fill Saphi's bowl once a day, in the evenings (usually when I have supper, so between 6 and 8, but if I'm out and not home till later she doesn't get it till then (she doesn't eat while I'm gone anyhow). If it's a typical day, home from work about 5:30, she'll just start meowing lots when it gets around 6:30 if I haven't already filled her bowl; not that she'll eat then, unless she's getting wet food; if it's just kibble and water, she won't eat till like 9 or 10.
Morning wake-up: luckily, she doesn't specifically wake me. When she notices I've started stirring/waking, she'll start wandering back and forth from my room and meowing. Because Bella (small dog) is usually on the bed in the mornings, Saphi won't jump up so so far there's been no risk of claws to wake me.

WHERE DO I START?!
Mister.....is my alarm clock. He runs circles around the bed yelling at me all the time. Sometimes he sticks his head in my armpit. Sometimes he sneaks up the length of my body, all quiet like, and gets right up to my face before going "MEROOOOOWAH!" at the top of his lungs. And sometimes he sees how much stuff he can knock off the nightstand before the hooman female gets up.
Freyja tries to suffocate me by plopping on my face and purring super loud.

Every single morning, Romeo wakes up, jumps off my bed, knocks over my trash can and scratches at my door waking me up. Usually around 6 am.

Either licking my nose or jumping from the entertainment center onto my stomach, depending on his mood.

My 3 year old kitty Lilim tends to get on the bed and either attack my hand or nuzzle my face.

Oh, God! It's actually quite funny. She likes to wake me up by making a pathetic meow that never fails to get me out of bed. It's her routine for me to feed her.

I'm a light sleeper so my cat Siopao doesn't have to do much. He just walks on my tummy and it's usually enough to wake me.
At times that I'm too tired to wake up, he sits on my tummy and meows. And when I try to shoo him, that's when he decides I should hear his tummy rumbling so he sits on my face.
