The quiet male lion was content. The pride, despite all the rumblings within it, seemed at peace. Relatively, anyway. he wondered, though, if he should be nervous about that. The King was quiet. The arrival of his father had not caused much of a wave, and now a second God was being spotted in the lands. He had not heard much from the fallen daughter of Ygraine, either. Morgana had gone into hiding, and perhaps that was why the Druids had gone quiet as well.
He frowned and flicked his tail behind him, watching the sky.
Life for him, at least, was peaceful. The cubs were no longer cubs, and he was teaching them how to be Slayers like them. If it was their choice, of course. Their son, Komboa, was dutiful in his training and learning, which made Maktaba very proud.
He was sitting near their den, waiting for his mate, feeling affectionate and silly this evening. He was still a calm and quiet sort, but he did not have to be all business all the time. Sometimes, he just wanted to focus on his family, and making sure they were all as happy as he was.

She had a hare tight in her jaws when she had begun the path home. She had wanted to surprise Maktaba with it, since they were going to have the den alone to themselves that evening. They didn't always get time to enjoy each other as a couple, when they lead as busy lives as they did. Training was their life, and they were so wound in their work.. That sometimes time escaped them.
She was happy though, in this life they lead. She was powerful, and she liked to think herself fearless. But she truly feared her children, or Maktaba, ever being in danger. The idea made her tighten her grip on the rabbit, a few bones crunching under the weight.
She saw him, and her eyes softened. She smiled around the hare, and walked to meet him. Nuzzling under his chin in greeting, she placed the hare at his feet.
"I was hoping to find you here." She said with a smile. |

Maktaba smiled when he saw Dearbhail approaching, noting the rabbit she had brought with her. He moved to her, nuzzling her head and he smiled dumbly at her. He was very much in love with her, and he could never escape that fact. Not that he wanted to. He loved the way everything inside him just turned into mush when he looked at her, his brain going blank for a moment before he could think of the word 'hello'.
"And here I am. Which is convenient, because I was hoping to find you here, as well." He smiled, thinking himself very clever and charming, then realizing he probably sounded like an idiot.
He also did not need to try and flirt with her, since she was his mate and he no longer had to feel like he needed to earn her love. But he did feel that way, and wanted to strive every day to show her how much she meant to him.
"Went hunting, did you?" he said, his stomach rumbling. He cleared his throat. |
