It was a fact that Jolene took great pride in her appearance. No, it was more than that. It was something that helped keep her going when she felt down, something that helped her know that yes, she was better than everyone else. That was why she flaunted it at every chance she got, making sure everyone else knew just how amazing she was. Long blonde hair, red lips, pale skin. If you asked her she was nothing short of a beauty queen. Why, if something ever happened to mar that appearance there was no telling what she might do.

Perhaps this is why someone got it in their head to do just that.

It was early in the morning, painfully early. Far too early for her to be awake under most circumstances. However, last night just so happened to be one of those nights where you couldn't sleep no matter how hard you tried. She had tossed, turned, counted wherries, done just about everything other than go down to the infirmary and snag some fellis. Then when she did sleep it was fitful. She kept getting the sensation that something was touching her head, her precious hair, but her sheer exhaustion kept her from waking up completely. This only lasted for a few hours though, when she awoke it was only a few candlemarks before breakfast.

It was only a few candlemarks before breakfast and she was already enraged.

Jolene stormed into the dining hall, pure fury written on her face. The reason for this fury would be obvious. Her hair, her precious blonde hair, had been dyed and was looking rather ragged. And green. Bright green. Of course it was an organic dye that, while it might damage her hair a little, would not make her gold bald and would wear off in a week or so. But that was not the point. The point was she had been humiliated. So after her grand entrance she crossed her arms and began to scan the room, convinced that the culprit was still there.

Kaylen had been sitting in the dinning hall. Lissy jumping from her shoulder to the table and back again as she entertained herself while the seamstress ate.

Just a normal da- oh what the shells happened?

She caught sight of the girl's green locks and shook her head. Hearing the giggling from the scant people around the hall. She giggled herself, but stopped once she saw the girl looking around for the person responsible.

Kay was no stranger to pranks of the hair. Living with younger sisters, they all liked to use tricks to mess with each other. And Hair was what was most likely to get a reaction from them.

She was about to go up to the girl when Lissy did it for her, the little green letting out a chirp and flying over to the young woman, flying around her and admiring the green that was similar to Lissy's own coloring.

Usually he had people bring food to him, or rather people decided it was a good idea to bring food to him because otherwise he didn't eat. Today however, newly released from the infirmary by people who were usually his subordinates, Bereck had decided that going to the dininghall himself sounded like a refreshing change.

Leaning heavily on his cane, as usual, the stocky healer entered the large space - not yet noisy thanks to the early hour - followed by five of his eight firelizards. Silver, brown, crimson, blue and green swooped and circled around over his head, vanishing between at intervals to avoid a crowded patch of air.

He had been anticipating a nice quiet breakfast, but then he got a better look at the girl who had entered before him. The look on her face was thunderous and her hair was frankly disastrous; he wasn't much of a judge of fashion but the shade was an eyesore by any sane man's standards. Bereck sighed and smoothed his fingers through the fine strands of his own, intentionally dyed, hair. Well perhaps if he ignored her she would ignore him too, she wasn't his apprentice so she really wasn't his problem and he wasn't in the mood to take on problems that were not his own.

______________

Other people were less inclined to avoid combat than the red-haired healer.

C'tis entered the dininghall with a disgruntled look upon his scarred face. When his dark eyes met for a moment with Jolene's his expression shifted to a sneer and the blue rider's stance straightened and tensed. "What're you looking at, greenie?" He wasn't in the mood for this s**t, he was sore and pissed off having failed to snatch more than a little sleep last night thanks to the damned heat and the itching of his healing wounds. All he wanted was something to eat in peace and princess grass-hair was looking at him like he's kicked her pet canine pup and then taken a crap in her grandmother's purse.

N'ymi had decided for once to leave her weyr and come to the dining hall for breakfast. Big mistake apparently. As she was trying to eat some warmed oatmeal and fruit, a young looking girl stormed in with green hair. Personally, she thought the girl looked fine with green hair. She had seen worse tricks growing up and taking care of children in the creche. Snorting, she sent the mental image to Daroth. She could hear the blue chuckling in the back of her mind.

I wouldn't want to be the one she decided did this to her. Blue would have been better.

Heill dragged himself to the dinning hall, if he didn't get there before some of the other boys, he wouldn't get a big share of the food, which he desperately wanted.

He brushed past some fuming girl that he somewhat recognized from the candidate bunks, but something was different about her. He stared at her before he realized it. Her hair... it was green!

He couldn't stop himself and he began to laugh, "Oh Shells! Your hair!" He cried out through his laughter. He wasn't trying to be mean, but her hair was so...green!

And that little firelizard was circling around her head as if entranced by the green locks. It was too funny and Heill almost fell backwards as he continued to laugh. He didn't even realize the danger he might be in with an angry, OLDER candidate right infront of him.
