Piper had once again run out of hair products. But when you had gorgeous, thick, voluminous, amazing hair like she did, it came with a price: they say beauty hurts, but nothing hurt more than her wallet at that point in time.

"Shoooot," the mage mumbled frustratedly as she walked the campus aimlessly, caught between several options: get a job (gross), bother her cousin (Kettil would probably never lend her money unless she, like, begged or something, which also gross by the way), bother her family (who had strictly given her this amount knowing she'd run out soon and therefore would have to learn to fend for herself), orrrr completely ignore the problem and see if she could make new friends--and therefore get some help in that department!

It was a little on the warm side this October, and Piper had to sigh and shield her eyes, pausing for a moment to reconsider her choices. Cutting her hair would be blasphemous, but she reaaaaally didn't want to get a job like at the maul or something . . . Gosh.

. . . Maybe she could bother Brenley for some seeds . . . Or Freya. Freya had to be nice to her or else she could tell on her family and then mess up everything so very, very deliciously.

Target located.

Otto hid with Heidi in some nearby bushes, finally spotting a Halloweener on their own. "Okay... remember.. we're after gossip, okay? Do the ghouly thing or whatever." Otto insisted, crawling his way along behind the bushes to find an opening to talk to the ghoul without looking like he'd come out of bushes.

However, he mistook a dip in the hill for a patch of leaves. Which it was. A dip in the hill covered with leaves. Otto yelped, and tumbled down the hill, crashing into Piper in a flailing flurry of arms and petticoats.

Smooth.

Heidi gave Otto a blank stare when he gave her a refresher on what to do. Do the ghouly thing. Clearing her throat, Heidi was suddenly very glad no one she knew other than Otto was here. She replied to him in her best valley girl impression, wide-eyed and smiling and all. "Like, okay. I can totally do that." Her head even moved as she spoke. She was not going to speak like that ever again.

Ever. Again.

She followed Otto until he suddenly just...fell.

Heidi was more careful about getting down the hill, glad that her golem was wearing pants and boots and not petticoats and a dress. She stopped beside Otto and helped the other undead golem up as best as she could. Oh...Otto landed on someone. She blinked. "Oh! Uh...wow. Um. Sorry! Are you okay?"

Forget Otto, he totally just landed on a student.

Piper had a few seconds to respond, but she was just so startled at the fact that a tumble of clothes was coming down the hill that she spent those few seconds trying to determine where its owner was. She realized a split second before the collision crash that it was actually a person coming at her, but by then it was a little too late to react.

Appropriately, the grand-daughter of Muuts squawked in surprise as she fell over and was groaning by the time a second figure stepped over to her.

"Why do people keep crashing in to meeeee?" Piper whined, squirming out from under Tumbleweed Person Thing, sitting up, and patting down her hair, making faces as she shook dirt and grass from her curls. First her wallet took a hit, and now her hair? This day was just being awful for no good reason! "Ughhhhh. Yeah I'm fine, though could you guys like, watch where you're going next time?"

It was then that she noticed both strangers were of the undead variety. Ohhhh. Poor thing probably lost control of her leg or something. Was that a common problem?

"You guys new here too?" Piper asked curiously, wondering if perhaps her opportunity to socialize had literally stumbled upon her.

While it hadn't been the most elegant or professional method, it had at least broken the ice. And hopefully not an arm or two. Otto got to his feet, straightening out the dress so bloomers weren't showing (cause Tenya insisted that wasn't lady like. As if Tenya knew squat about being a lady anyway).

"Mm...." He responded simply, keeping his voice light, and trying to keep words minimal, lest his male voice or heavy accent creep through.

"Y-yeah.. New."

"Glad to hear it!" Heidi grinned, tucking part of her forehead talisman behind her ear to get it out of the way. "My friend's kinda clumsy, she's still getting used to her legs." She pat Otto on the back with a sympathetic look. Poor, poor ghoul. She couldn't use her own legs properly yet!

"Yeah! We're new. Still trying to figure out our way around. Do you think you could help us? We're like..really kinda lost and stuff..." This wasn't so bad! It was just like doing improv in theatre, except her partner didn't know the truth of the situation.

"Still"? Oh wow, she probably had gotten new legs just for school so she could be like taller or something, or more graceful, or slender, except Piper wasn't really sure most undeads had an issue with being fat, and it was shown already that the ghoul's friend was . . . "trippy". Nevertheless, she put on a smile and pressed a hand to her heart. "We're all good, all good. Careful with the legs for future reference and avoid all hills! Shoo', though, I get lost here and I been here for, like, a month!" she admitted. "This place is too big. Look, here, um . . ."

She looked about with a thoughtful squint before turning back to them. "Where d'you guys need to go? We could tour together or something! Or I could call my cousin and his gho--fiancée," Piper amended with a face. "They're third years and should know this place like the back of their hands."

Otto narrowed a glare at Heidi, however brief. That was the one thing he should be grateful for, he supposed. Tenya was prattling on about how undeads tended to have un-responsive limbs. He could blame most anything on that fact for now.

Heidi also seemed to be much better at socializing and making friends than Otto was. He was lucky she bitted in on this mission.

Wait...Third Years!? Jackpot. Third years would know all about the gossip mill. He'd just have to be extra careful though. Third years was much savvier to Hunter activity. "Um.." Otto's golem nodded, lightly dusting off the dress again. "Please." He uttered with some trouble. Tenya gigged in his mind, pointing out his awkwardness could be taken as shyness. Whatever stopped them from seeing him as a wolf in sheep's clothing he supposed.

"You uh... have.. many friends?"

<suck at this>> Tenya snorted.

Shut it, I'm tryin not to let my danged accent come through, sassbucket.

Heidi's knowledge on undead stemmed entirely from zombie movies and a couple books in the Deus library, Otto. Be careful what you're grateful for. She laughed and grinned at the girl's--er..ghoul's warning. "Yeah, she'll be okay. We didn't know the hill was there." So this ghoul got lost after a month. This was a huge school! Holy cow!

She looked to Otto beside her. He wanted her to do the talking, right? But if he was going to be here a long time he needed to do some talking too..

"Wow, really?" Heidi turned back to the ghoul with a huge smile. "That's so nice! You think they'd do it? That would be like super awesome of them. We didn't have anywhere specific we needed to be we were kinda just wandering around trying to figure out the layout n'stuff y'know? Meet some of our new classmates." It's okay, Otto. Heidi's got your back.

"Oh! I'm--" Name time. "Matilda, by the way. What's your name?"

"They probably would, though . . ." Piper still remembered the impromptu fake wedding at Prom and how it had made her want to gag. They were probably still doing something dumb like fake honeymooning. and even if they weren't, if she admitted to needing help, Kettil would get more fodder to tease her about . . . And Jack knew they couldn't have that.

"Nah, there's more adventure in doing it ourselves!" Piper amended with a chirp, waving off her first suggestion with a hand. "Well, ghoulies, you can call me Piper! First things first--did you get settled in your dorms already? Because I do know where those are. I," have like one or two friends maybe, "know plenty of people in case something comes up!"

So her name was Piper. She seemed friendly, easy to talk to. Possibly easy to get information or more out of. He mentally logged away that information to jot down later when he was out of his golem. "Enya." He pointed to himself, wondering why it was Tenya would only give him names that sounded like her own. Blasted weapon was good for nothing.

"S'okay.. Already know where dorm is.." Otto commented quietly, so as not to draw much attention by way of dorm rooms that didn't exist.

So she claimed to have many friends, right? Otto thought a moment while choosing his words, making them as minimal as he could. "How do you keep track of so many... friends..?" he asked passively. "This school is so big.."

Though...? Heidi blinked. Though what? She glanced Otto's way as he introduced himself. Enya. Okay. Noted. And they knew their dorms--wait, dorms? They had those here, too? Now Heidi was glad she hadn't named anywhere specific about where they had to be. She'd need to learn more about this school while she was here.

"I like adventure! Nice to meetcha, Piper. And yeah, my room's next to Enya's. S'how we met," she explained as easily as if it was the truth. She glanced 'Enya's' way as she asked about friends. His falsetto was terrible, she would have to teach him how to do that if he was going to be here for an extended period of time. Heidi was up for the challenge if it kept him safe.

The mage chuckled and shifted the contents of her little purse, pulling out her phone. "By skellyphone of course," she explained in a slower tone, just in case they didn't know what that was. Piper hadn't been the most technologically savvy since that stuff wasn't really needed back where she came from--most messages were done by birds or other minipets, if not by magic--so she wasn't sure how commonplace this stuff was yet. "It's got a neat thing called contact list, like a portable phone book! And there's all sorts of fun things on here called applications or apps I can use to keep in contact, like text messaging~"

She didn't even have Critter, you guys.

Please be her friends. She really wanted to be friends.

Luckily for them, Piper believed "Enya's" voice sounded so odd because of faulty vocal chords--poor undead things, rotting had to be such a problem didn't it! She could never imagine sounding like a boil, not with her rockin' voice. "Aww~" she cooed, a hand to her chest as she smiled at them. "Well then, Enya, Matilda, let's do the quick tour of what I know! Firstly!" She dramatically pointed behind them at the forest. "That is the Forbidden Forest, and we're not allowed there! I got told there's, like . . . really bad flesh eating plants inside. Or something. And if you get detention, it just turns into this awful long battle where you fight grime off with, like, mops and buckets and soap and stuff . . ."

Skellyphone? So that's what they called cell phones here. The fact that they had them made things easier. Either he'd have to steal one, or get one of his own and find as many contacts as he could. But that meant socializing enough to make friends.

"Wow... I wish I had one.." He mused in "awe", or tried to. It sounded dead, but maybe that suited the whole zombie thing.

So the only remotely scary things these kids had to deal with was an off limits forest and a labour intensive Detention. Otto felt less sympathetic for students than he already did at this point. Their lives were so simple.

"You've never.. tried?" He asked, gesturing to the woods. He was pretty sure a few golem missions had landed him inside anyway. He wasn't terribly interested. But if he focused too much on just information control he'd miss something.

Skellyphone? That sounded freakin' adorable. Oh! And it looked just like a regular phone just..with a couple differences. Was that an eyeball? Uh..

Heidi had to stop herself from grinning at how Piper explained phones to them, instead giving her a very curious look as she stepped closer to the student and looked at the phone in her hands. Wow! How amazing! Technology~. "Maybe we should get skellyphones, Enya. I don't have one myself.." Right. Yeah. She didn't have one.

"Where can we get them? The mall?"

Humans have mauls?

Heidi blinked. Of course we do. Don't you guys?

Well, yes.

"Oh, that forest is bad? It seems really pretty...we'll keep that in mind, though. Detention sounds..uh.." Wow. Yeah. Good luck, Otto. "So Forbidden Forest and detention is bad. Gotcha." Hey! This was pretty good stuff for Otto to know if he was going to be here awhile!
