Samael couldn't deny that he was feeling a bit worn from the day's adventures. He genuinely believed that he'd had his fair share of them, for the time being. Now, he decided it was best to find a cubby-hole and maybe rest for a while. The last surprise attack had actually hit him unexpectedly hard, and he walked with a bit of a limp. Even his wings dragged slightly, occasionally catching a snag in the shrubbery. It did nothing to improve his mood, and before long, he was rather pessimistic about finding a safe and secure niche for him to curl up in for an hour or two.
Vaguely, he remembered seeing a small break between the trees. A nice, open meadow, where the sun shown down on the swaying grass... At the time, it hadn't seemed an adequate resting ground, due to the vulnerability of the area, but thinking about it now, maybe he could scrunch himself down in the grass and be perfectly comfortable...? It didn't take long for Sam to decide that maybe it wasn't such a horrible place, after all. He turned and headed back in that direction.
Sam loped out into the middle of the field, completely unguarded. He floped into the grass, rolling playfully and stretching himself out before settling comfortably with the sun on his muzzle. He didn't know how long he rested like that, but it didn't feel very long by the time his senses went on alert. A rustling in the nearby grass caught his attention, and he rose slowly to his paws, careful not to make too much noise.
Cautiously, he poked his head above the grass, and quickly ducked back down again. Another dragon... They were everywhere today! He heard the creature's head swivel in his direction, and then slow, heavy pawsteps... Sam huffed quietly. There was no way he felt quite ready to take on another dragon! But he had to defend himself, at very least. The noises drew ever closer. With a snarl, Samael leaped from his grassy cover and attacked the Ysali. It reared back in surprise and swiped at him, but Sam dove to the side, back into the swaying blades. With a screech, he leaped at the dragon again, fanning his wings to fly by as it snapped at him. He cuffed it on the side of its head, and in surprise, it didn't dive into the air after him. With a sigh, Sam decided he'd pressed his luck on Serenia enough for one day.
