While Otogakure doesn't have physical gates, the entrances into the underground part of Otogakure is locked with massive iron doors at the bottom of the stair cases.
The doors are constantly monitored by Oto ANBU, and the Otokage himself. While the doors are locked, they can be opened only by shinobi of Otogakure, all of whom are granted a special seal along with the retrieval of their headbands. However, the doors are only kept locked during war time strife.

Kano walked right to the Oto gates and leaned against one of the doors. As a genin, you usually leave the village on missions in a group of 3 however, Kano didn't feel like waiting for his team to show up. I have loads of time, no need to leave so soon. Kano sat down and pulled out a book as he began to read while waiting.

_Returning home from his mission, Joroi was about 15 meters away from the gates of Otogakure. He made it back without a scratch on him. With the scroll in his hands and his backpack on him. Alright, so I'll go check in and report to the Oto leader, drop my stuff off and get me something to eat...kinda hungry. Upon reaching the gates, he sees a young boy about the age of 13 or 14 sitting by the gates reading a book. Joroi smirked noticing it was Kano Kaguya. A genin here at the village. He knew him pretty well. Passing by, he stopped for a second and stood in front of him. Now, tell me why exactly are you way out here instead of inside the village...reading a book. Joroi said to the kid with a grin on his face, awaiting from a response from him.
Kano heard footsteps until he heard a familiar voice from a man. He looked up to see who it was and under the bright sun, was a man with white yet peachy-colored like hair and red eyes. Kano grinned as he closed his book and stood up. Akido-sensei, how're you doing? Coming back from a mission? I'm just waiting on the rest of my squad to get here so we can get on our mission. The man who stopped to talk to him was Joroi Akido, a jonin here at Otogakure. Akido is one of the best, if not THE best Jonin Otogakure has right now. Well also his rival Umiko Yuki of the Yuki clan. Kano actually looks up to Joroi, as a teacher and mentor. Kano stretched a bit, Yeah, just waiting on them. Don't know why it takes them a long time to get here though. Joroi Akido is actually the only guy in the village Kano can't be extremely serious and arrogant with.
Umiko hands pushed against the cold ground, his feet sticking straight up into the air as his right hand moved in front of him. He was upside down and was using his hands as feet, he had a bright smile and a soft whistling tune coming from his soft lips while he walked. "Hello out their!" He screamed down the path towards the gates, he saw two figures one was a boy who looked liked he had three hands, one coming from his stomach, the other figure was walking towards the gate and had a serious body pose, Umiko let out a shout still walking upside down. "Hey you! Big head, why you looking so serious!" He screamed towards Joroi not yet realizing it was him, Umiko had a bright smile on his face as he continued to walk upside down.

_Joroi placed a hand on Kano's head. Waiting for them huh? Interesting. Suddenly, a loud barking voice appeared out of the blue coming straight towards them both. Looking to see who it was, Joroi recognized it was Umiko, Joroi's good friend and rival. Even though the rivalry is usually one-sided. But he could never tell Umiko that. He actually could tell it was Umiko, by the way he said "big head." Joroi let go of Kano and placed that hand in his pockets while looking at him on his hands. Uhh...hey Umiko...why're you upside down?
Kano heard a loud voice and turned his head to see who it was and noticed it was Umiko Yuki himself...Oh..Umiko-sensei. Kano just watched as he approached him and Joroi upside down in a handstand formation. He couldn't get the words out of his mouth even though this is the first time he found Umiko doing something silly. Kano rather just stayed silent.
Umiko slowly decended his face to the ground and threw him self up to his feet and smile brushing his hands together to get dirt off. "Why am I upside down! Well, you have to stay at peak condition! No slacking my friends, and Kano! How are your trainings going? Good I hope!" He said smiling and slammed his hand around Joroi friendly like and held him smiling. Umiko thought Joroi was a funny person, he never thought about them been complete rivals.. Umiko pictured Joroi as a older brother, even though Umiko was much more handsome Joroi was ok looking. In battle though it always seemed like a lose win situation, Umiko didn't care though. In Umiko's mind if it came down to life or death battle he felt that He had the upper hand then Joroi, properly just Umiko thinking to likely of him self but with Steel Release in place it was hard not to think that. Umiko knew he hadn't won against Joroi but he also felt that he would one day surpass Joroi, it gave Umiko something to work for.
Kano still had a weird look on his face, He didn't know why but Umiko just seemed a bit too happy to Kano. But still a cool guy nonetheless. Uhh It's going well I guess. Just continuing my dances on my kekkei genkai that's all.

_Joroi was caught in his good friend's arm around his neck. He was silent for the most part when talking to Kano. He looked over to him when mentioning training. Which got him to remember something. Kano, you told me that you were waiting on your squad members out here...could it be possible that they might be waiting for you inside the village? Joroi asked, thinking of another reason why his crew might be late. Didn't really know for sure if he was correct but couldn't hurt to ask.

Kano stopped to think about what Akido questioned. It was so obvious and such a simple reason why they haven't shown up yet. That, actually pissed him off a bit. Wow, so that's why I have been here for hours waiting on those losers! Kano scoffed a bit and picked up his book and headed towards the village. Later Akido-sensei, Umiko-sensei, I gotta go. Kano gave his farewells and dashed straight into the village, looking for his teammates.

_Joroi watched Kano as he dashed back into the village. Well it did seem kind of a good reason for them to be taking a while. I thought that would make him wait even longer, ehh I guess now. Joroi took a second to be silent. Soo Umiko, how were things since I left?
Umiko shook his head, he rubbed the sides of the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes looking away, "Things were fine, been quite, a couple got into a fight down at the center of the village, I had 2 genin try to brake it up....had to pry them out of two barrels and stop the fight so you know...hassle.." Umiko said looking back at Joroi and giving a soft smile, his hands going to his hips. "The academy been pretty interesting, I been visiting that, the students are pretty determined....uhh, pshh...not really much other then that. Mission here and their, I been pretty much staying in the village." Umiko had added on as he crossed his legs over each other and starred at Joroi, "How about you? How was things out their?" He asked curiously.

_Joroi nodded his head at Umiko. Well. Sure seems like you had a lot on your plate there Umiko. Joroi stated calmly. He held the scroll he was supposed to turn in and tossed it into the air, catching it as it was coming back down. Hmm? Me? I'm alright, just some missions back to back. Some people are just a bit too stupid to get caught in simple jutsus. Even genjutsu. Joroi mentioned referring to his last mission and how it ended a success when he casted a genjutsu on the enemy. Well hopefully, I'll be able to relax at the village this time. Joroi shrugged at the idea. I don't know.
Umiko chuckled, "Mission after Mission huh? It could be worse, they have me stay in the village in case my steel release is needed for something..." He said laughing and stretching up to the sky, "So, want to go grab a bite to eat with me?" He asked sticking his hands back on his hips looking at Joroi.
