.: WELCOME :. Come one, come all, to the Magesc Art Contest Discussion thread!
I am the latest addition to the Magesc saga mules, (along with Magesc, Arick Skyeforge, and Apicius) and I am here to tell you that I (Brolis) want to do up an art contest for the future!
This is the official discussion thread for a very hopeful Magesc Art Contest. I'm setting it up now so we, Magesc as a WHOLE, can begin discussing what we do/don't want to see from this art contest.
Magesc has been running smoothing for over a year now and I want to start putting aside some money (either IRL, Gaia Gold, Gaia Items, ETC) for people to get some amazing art of their characters.
Generally, from what I've noticed, art contests usually run from 4-9 months, depending; and have a nice set of prizes for many different categories.
I'm here to discuss with you all my hopes and dreams for our possible 2nd Anniversary Art Contest.
The next few posts are reserved for official rules of the contest, ways of entering, etc. As for now they will be empty until we've had ample discussion on what should happen.

.: INFORMATION :. Time Frame: Starting Beginning of April and Running through to October (or even longer to December of 2014).
Prizes: Gold and lots of it! Also any MCs, Bundles, or whatever else that is donated can also be used as prizes.
Entrant Fees: A 10k Entry Fee per Entry (to help the pot rise).
Participants: If you want a specific character to participate, a 100k fee (per character) will be needed. If the character is not drawn whatsoever, your fee will be returned to you at the end of the event.
Categories: Singles, Couples, NPCs, Creatures and Dragons, Battle [ Character vs Character OR Character vs Creature/Dragon(s) ], Comics, Other.

Neat idea... but what is the art contest gonna be about?
Characters get entered and then we have a contest with a big prize and any artist may enter a picture of the characters to win the prize?
Or something else?

That's the general idea. We put up a contest, show prizes and everything, and wait it out, at the end date, we have a few weeks to judge entries based on specific features, and everyone will be apart of the judging. And the winners would be announced.
The artist gets to decide who they want to draw and enters it.
We can even do weekly contests within the massive contest, like a spotlight. Like a little prize of the best quick art of the week or something. And it will be different each week lol.

Since basically that's what Magesc is about which is the war
and also fighting against the dragons and creatures sometimes~
Although that'll be a bigger prize since it'll be a lot of work to do
that with details and such, but it'll just be amazing to me * U *

I agree with Mii...dragon battles should be a category! One character against a dragon. Woo. It'd be so awesome.
Also, I think that, in order to fund it, if someone wants their character available to be drawn they should have to contribute to the prize pool. I'm not sure if it should be one overall price or each category has a different price to pay. I wouldn't mind in the least to do this or try and help out others if they couldn't earn the gold in time. The price for joining in each category would probably greatly depend on the size of prize you'd like to have for said category.
I for sure want to see a couples category. It could be more than just romantic couples too. Friends would be great. Though you'd have to specify in that post which couples are what type.
There should be just a general singles category where any character can be in...including the drakeins.
I think it'd be neat to also see a NPC category as well if you guys would be up to it and have the funding for it.

Battle section
Couples sections (lover or just friends, or enemies!)
And Single Character section
NPC and creatures (cause robo wants pretty artsu's for her animals!)
So we'd need 4 big big prizes, with 6 smaller prizes (1, 2, 3 places for each category.) for those categories.
If we were gonna do small quick week long contests, I think that's where the NPC or Creatures would go :3

This is why I posted it so early though, so everyone would have time to decide if they want their character(s) in the contest, and if we did decide on a payment, to start earning gold/items for it. :]
ALL gold earned/donated should be sent to the Magesc Contest mule, that way we all know exactly what that gold is going to go towards.
Obviously, this contest has between 6 months and a year before we put it out there, so it gives us TONS of time to think about what we're going to do with it. :3

ALSO, a side note, I was thinking about doing a DA contest, since we've been on DA for so long as well. I don't know exactly how that would work. So that would probably wait until a later date, see how well this Gaia contest goes first. :]

As far as seeing if people want their characters in it or not...you should do some kind of form.
And in it ask if they'd be willing to pay some gold to have their characters involved.
Then when you decide on prices you can quote them in here and ask them if they'd be alright with that price. If not, they'd be welcome to back out.
As far as doing a DA contest, you'd use points and subscriptions as prizes.

Anyone who wants a character drawn for the contest should contribute towards the pot. It makes it fair though if they don't get any art drawn of their character...should they get their money back?
