Xenosa had not gone back to Daesat when she’d received her first orb, no she wanted to prove to her that it was not simply luck that had dropped this beautiful orb onto her lap. Xen wanted another one, to show that she really could kill a dragon if she simply took her time with things. Patience, that’s all that was required of her when she went out hunting. She was learning quickly that her patience would be tried over and over again by family, but a dragon was different. A dragon required a different kind of patience that she was slowly nurturing.
Out she went once more, quite ready to gain another orb in her possession. There would be no failure this time either; she would kill the Ysali quickly and silently. Or try too; killing something quietly was always the best way to do things Dae had said. So when Xen found her next victim, she repeated everything she’d done the first time with the exception that she wanted to try something else, a new strategy of sorts. Climbing up a tree, Xenosa lured the Ysali as close as she could until it was under the tree, and then she jumped knife in hand.
The Orderite landed heavily half on the Ysali’s neck and half on its head; however the unexpected new weight was enough to send the dragons head slamming to the ground. In one swift motion, Xen had a plunged a knife right into its skull. A quiet kill, she was proud that the kill had been so clean cut! There had barely been any sound, minus the dragons head slamming down, and with her weight it hadn’t been able to cry out before she’d killed it. Xenosa picked up the orb and smiled at it, it was time to find Daesat.
