It was long after dinner and well into the evening when Mimsy decided that she truly couldn't stand it any longer. Svensyl was unbelievably frustrating by himself, but combined the apparent cake-loving conspirator that she'd obtained sometime during the last mission and its occasional whispers of how nice it would be to bake something, it was unbearable.

She had gathered what few supplies she had, including all the rest of the dry mix for gingerbread that had yet to expire from her excessive holiday spending, and set out to do exactly what that annoying little whisper encouraged her to do.

Except Mimsy was a scientist, not a baker, so the cakes and several dozen cookies she made were inefficiently measured and created with laboratory glassware and stirring sticks. They looked okay, and tasted fine, but the fact that her method had been so sloppy disgusted her so much that she didn't want to eat any of it.

Which left her with a lot of confections.

After setting aside a suitable amount for exchanges and bribes in the future, she still had a lot of confections. It was getting late, and she really didn't want the responsibility of being the Dessert Keeper, but just leaving it here could cause complications that she wanted to handle even less than desserts. Without supervision, they would inevitably a way to turn a cookie into a catastrophe, and her baking would have been the cause of it.

She eyed her phone and hoped that the ship ordeal hadn't ruined what had once been Deus' apparently incessant sweet tooth.

Roland was a sucker for free food. Sweets where no exception.

Leaving the labs he made his way towards the cafeteria. He'd wanted to get dinner, but desert would work just as well at this point. When he arrived what he found made his mouth drop ever so slightly before looking at Mimsy.

"You.... made all of this?" He waved a hand at the spread, "It's like... someone did Christmas treats three times over."

'Dessert' had really been all that Evan needed to hear--or see, as it were. He peered cautiously into the cafeteria, wondering what the catch was. He had been here long enough to know that there had to be one; there was always a catch.

"We're not going to have to stick around for some meeting or something, are we?" Evan asked, eying the desserts suspiciously.

Something smelled amazing.

Swinging by the cafeteria on her way back to the dorms after a short Jog, Peyton couldn't resist investigating the source of what was surely the most appetizing thing she'd ever smelled on the island. Oh sure, pies had been good, but there was nothing quite like the smell of fresh baked cookies and cakes.

Of course catching sight of the back of one shaved, blond head, the half pint almost turned on her heels and walked the other way. That would have been cowardice though, and that level of spinelessness just did not sit well with Ms. Creedy.

So she put on a stubborn face, wandered right up next to the much taller Sun hunter, and kept her eyes on the delicious spread of confectionery delights laid out before them. She was actually of the same mind set as the marine, and she waited for the answer to his question, eyeing the treats with a duel air of suspicion and longing.

At some point, Roland had picked up a slice of cake and was munching happily on it when Peyton walked in. Of course being only a smidge taller he had to walk over and give her a light poke in the back.

"Hey you. Haven't seen you since we knocked heads."

There was only one reason that Tuck showed up.

Mimsy had said they weren't an experiment. It was good enough for him, and so shortly after reading Twitter, Tuck was rolling up into the cafeteria with a broad smile for Mimsy and a few nods for anyone else he recognized - except Evan.

As he slipped past Evan he whispered, "Stormy has a boyfriend," before making a beeline to the cookies.

And the cake.

The reaction of the first dessert-seeker made Mimsy realize that she should have been more subtle about this. Going from baking nothing ever to baking all of this was a good way to raise suspicion; she'd just have to bank on the hope that nobody paid enough attention to her to question it.

"Yes, well. I had...an urge?" she offered, glancing at him over the top of the report she was busy proofing, eventually adding a shrug for good measure. Was that a thing that usually happened? Baking urges? Normality could be so troubling sometimes.

As someone else arrived and asked her a question, her gaze fell back towards the pages in her hand as she scratched through a line to correct it.

"No. No obligations. Especially not to stick around."

Mimsy had her at 'dessert'.

Heidi pocketed her cell phone for now, she had no doubt Tuck would see the message at some point as well. If he didn't show up she'd save him something and text him before everything was eaten.

Free dessert.

She was not at all surprised to see she was not the first to arrive. And she was even less surprised to see Tuck beat her here.

Heidi did walk up to stand by Tuck, but she was clearly distracted by this dessert buffet. "Hey~." She greeted him somewhat distractedly, though she gave him a warm smile anyway.

"Not stick around? Why would we leave this?" This is serious, Mimsy. Why would anyone leave this.

Oh..who else was here? Heidi looked around while she picked up a few cookies. Oh! She recognized that blonde guy! He was um...

...She never actually met him. She just saw him. He was..Gnat's...? Maybe? Yes.

Evan resolutely ignored the petite blonde at his side. Although his anger towards her had long since faded, the faith and friendship he had once offered her freely had burned away with it. They were still teammates in the same division, but that was all that Evan was prepared to share with Peyton; his trust would have to be earned back.

He was glad to hear that the various tasty-looking cakes and cookies were totally free, though. No meetings, hopefully no weird side effects, just a simple and delicious dine and dash, the way dessert was meant to be.

And then Tuck whispered in his ear, halting his progress towards the table. He stared in bewilderment at the other man's back for a moment, trying to parse those four simple words. "Wait, what?" Evan asked as it finally sank in. Stormy--their sweet, naive, innocent little Stormy--had a boyfriend? And she didn't tell him? That was probably a smart move; Evan already disapproved.

He jogged after Tuck, putting himself between the other man and the table of sweets. "How do you know?" Evan demanded. "Who even is it?"

Stormy did not have a sweet tooth, believe it or not. But when she smelled the desserts, a few different thoughts occurred to her: namely that her brothers would be there because free food, and that it'd be much easier to just tell them about Gale in a public setting where hopefully no violent threats would start being issued at the poor death hunter; and secondly that if Tuck was there she might catch sight of this Heidi person Nevada mentioned. Quite unaware of the fact that the threesome's issue had been resolved, she crept on in with a curious look.

There was in fact someone by Tuck, and Stormy recognized her from her Twitter picture. Aha! So this was probably the Heidi she wanted. Unless this was just . . . a different Hiedi who happened to be near Tuck at the worst possible moment . . . Things like that could happen.

Both of her brothers also, apparently, were looking displeased about something. She couldn't imagine the food was bad, so . . . hmm. "Whaaaaat's uuuuup~?" she cooed in greeting, passing Mimsy a little wave because hi Lucky's friend who doesn't smile a lot!

Tuck kissed Heidi, transferring some of the frosting that was stuck on his lips to hers. He whispered a soft, "Hi, sweetheart," before glancing over at Evan.

Tuck crammed some more cake into his mouth and only after he'd swallowed that bite did he answer the other man.

"Nevada told me. I'unno who it is. You didn't know?"

Suddenly there was a Stormy.

Instant narrowed eyes.

Son I am disappoint.

A side long glance was sent towards Evan as he edged past her and closer to the table and she was both relieved by the lack of response to her presence, as well as disappointed. On the one hand, it looked like he wasn't mad anymore. On the other? Well.. She wasn't sure if there was enough wood and nails on the island to fix that bridge.

Before becoming a hunter it wouldn't really have bothered her to loose a friend. She never stayed anywhere long enough for it to matter anyways. Here was another story.

Worries for another time. There was cookies, and cakes, and feeling small and awkward around Evan and Tuck didn't do her a lick of good.

Stepping around the two massively tall boys, Peyton reached towards the edge of the table to snag what looked like something made out of gingerbread. A test bite confirmed. "These are good, Mimsy."

Clearly the tiny Sun hunter had not yet learned who had been responsible for Her and Lucky's intimate bonding moment on the cruise ship. Otherwise this would have been really awkward.

Well.. Awkwarder.

Of course the military duo weren't the only ones present. Roland gave the girl a pat, and she blinked up at him before flashing a smile. "Hey, yeah it has. How're you doing?"

Nevada followed Stormy in, regardless that the mist was trying to be casual about sneaking in. She did have a sweet tooth and was mainly here because her roommate was and because cake.

It just so happened that 3 people she really didn't want to see all together at once were there. Tuck, Heidi and Roland.

This was a lot to take in for cake, too much for cake. But she was already here and probably seen. She sighed as she looked at Tuck and Heidi, deciding the best course of action was beeline to the cake.

Oh hey was that Peyton...oh but she was with Roland. ******** style="color: indigo">"It's just you and me Cake, you and me."
She picked it up and stared at intently. "Should take you back to room but that would mean abandoning Stormy." Stormy could survive without her right?

An eyebrow rose in silent question as Tuck gave a little more than a friendly peck of greeting to some girl he vaguely recognized. Hadn't she asked to sleep with him once, or something? His attention had been otherwise occupied.

And then Stormy wandered in like she wasn't keeping some fairly major secret from him--from them. Evan squinted down at her, his arms crossed over his chest. "Stormy," he said by way of greeting. "How've you been? It's been kind of a while. What's new?" His words, while friendly, were delivered in a tone that clearly said u r so busted.

Heidi tensed at first as she was suddenly kissed. It was purely out of surprise, she had never kissed Tuck in public before. She could now! There was a goofy smile on her face when Tuck ended the kiss, licking the frosting off her lips with a giggle. "Hi~." Yes, she had already said hey, but she felt the need to say hello again.

Oh. The blonde man was here now...and he didn't look pleased. Heidi blinked and looked up at Tuck, and then she followed his gaze to a small brunette girl. "Oh! That's Stormy, right?" Heidi looked up at Tuck again. "Is everything okay?"

The guy walked away and Heidi squinted. She was trying to figure out who he was. Suddenly she perked up. "..Ohhh. Is that Evan?" Tuck had told her about him! Right! Right.

Another brunette caught Heidi's eye. She gasped and grinned, raising an arm to wave and hopefully get the girl's attention. "Nevada! Hey!" She dropped her arm. She hadn't seen this girl since the cruise! She really needed more female friends, geeze. It was like high school all over again.
