The Forest of Magic ~ A Place of Oddities Stage 1D: The forest here is quiet, yet strange. Who is this being who steps forward? The two Konpaku's will soon make their way into the clearing in this odd part of the forest. Awaiting them is a being with a fair amount of strength who is as curious about what is happening in this magical world as they are. The magical powers are not coming from here, making their trip that much longer. But perhaps she knows something...  As the two half-people came into the forest clearing, the oni smirked and held her hands to her hips. "Well, who's this now?" She asked the two, taking a few steps towards them. "Why, you wouldn't be here because of the magical energy, would you?" She added, with a sneer.
This oni was a often times here, so she knew the ins and outs of these woods. "If info is what you need then I might be able to help you." The oni said, giving a triumphant grin. "First of all, tell me your names and why you are here!" She demanded, taking her hands off her hips and crossing them over her chest. "After that, I might tell you what I know."

"Grandfather, I do not see how this will aid in my training--" Youmu complained as she lead the duo through the forest, sprinting between the trees at a breakneck pace. She had a hand on Roukanken's blade, prepared to draw her sword at a moment's notice, and to help streamline her profile and reduce drag from air resistance. "Aimlessly wandering the forest is a fool's errand! Besides, a swell of magical energy is something that should be investigated by the Hakurei, not you and I." She halted as they reached a clearing in the forest, and upon discovering a being inside. The strange woman was horned, and demanded questions of the duo. The way she boasted and carried herself denoted Oni roots. "Our business is our own, Youkai. My name is Youmu Konpaku, and this is my-- well, teacher." She looked sideways, hesitantly: It was an odd thing to say after all this time. She soon returned her attention on the being before them. "You there, creature, your horns; they are of Oni nature, yes? If that is the case, then do not feign deception. I know full well that your kind are bound by truth. Once introductions are complete, please tell us what, if anything, you know."

 Youki smiled at Youmu as she complained, following close behind her as the sprinted through the forest "Patience young one. In time everything will become clear," he replied simply to her questions.
He stopped next to Youmu when they saw the oni, remaining quiet and allowing her to speak before he pitched in "No need to be rude young one. A warrior should speak respectfully, even to ones enemies."
He then turned his gaze to the Oni. "Same could go for you, It is only polite to introduce oneself before asking others their names. That aside I am Youki Konpaku, and this is my my student, as well as granddaughter. We are indeed here about the magical energy as you guessed. We have answered your question, so as you promised, what do you know about it?"

The young girl seemed rather personal with why she was there, making the oni cross her arms. They did however introduce themselves to her, so she was not too annoyed feeling. The girl was this older man's granddaughter as well as his student? That's interesting, common in some families, but still kinda interesting. Youmu quickly pointed out that this youkai was an oni, which surprised her. "W-well, you're quite sharp there." The oni complimented. The oni uncrossed her arms as she spoke again. "Yes, I am an oni and yes I am bound by truth, but," The oni sneered at them as she said the last bit. "I didn't promise to tell you what I know." She giggled.
The oni shrugged her shoulders, a smile still on her face. "Well, my name is Youkai Saint, if you must know." the oni told the two half-phantoms.
Enter Youkai Saint (Oni Form) ~ Avatar of an Awkward Higher Power
Once her introduction was out of the way, she pointed her finger at the two Konpakus. "Although I said I never promised you guys I'd tell you what I know, I might just tell you guys what I know anyways; No Lies!" Youkai told them. "But first you two will have to prove that you're worthy enough to hear what I've learned so far, if you know what I mean by prove you're worthy." The oni said with a snicker.

Youmu made a face for a moment, but quickly collected herself, knowing Youki was nearby. "... Grandfather, surely you must agree that we do not have time for this nonsense. Assuming there actually IS an incident in the making, we shouldn't waste time with minor conflicts. ... Right?" Either way, Youmu slowly withdrew Roukanken, its shimmering blade releasing a low hum as it met air. "I forgot that Oni tend to deal with half-truths as well. Forgive my rudeness, Youkai, but we must be on our way. Please tell us whatever information you may have, or stand aside." ((sorrryyy I has no creativity atm @@;; ))

Youki sighed as he drew his own blade. "It is true that we shouldn't waste any time, but if we must do combat to prove ourselves worthy of the answers we seek then so be it. We will just have to make it quick."
Locking eyes with the Oni, "Be warned, we of the Konpaku clan are the greatest warriors in Gensokyo, and do not expect us to go easy on you."

Youkai pouted a little when she got a taste of Youmu's current attitude. "Minor conflicts?" The oni parroted. This half-ghost girl wanted her to just step aside and tell them what she knew, how rude, not to mention that that act would hurt Youkai's oni pride a lot. "How about... No." Youkai said, with a snicker and a smirk.
The old man, however, seemed much more open to the "proving", which made Youkai feel excited. He gave her a fair warning about his clan, to which Youkai responded, "I don't care what difficulty you choose, just as long as you don't feel too bad when I beat you!!"
BGM: Paradigm Shift
Youkai slammed her foot into the ground, knocking a piece of earth upwards in front of her. She reeled back her fists and punched the large hunk of earth, sending it towards the two half-phantoms.
She would then follow up with a sort of shotgun-effect danmaku; punching forwards and sending a clump of red orbs towards the two (/in the same line as the stone).

"I'll take care of this."
Youmu reacted quickly, positioning herself squarely in front of the incoming stone. With an upward sweep, Youmu thrust Roukanken skyward as the boulder reached her, splitting earth cleanly in two. Both halves of the stone would careen around Youmu and her grandfather, crashing into the ground and rolling further into the forest.
The ensuing clusters of danmaku gave her slight trouble, however. Youmu used her blade to deflect and cut through the orbs as they approached, using her skills defensively, but that kept her rooted to the spot and open for counterattack.

Seeing Youmu having trouble with the danmaku, Youki moved to the front, launching a slash so fast and fierce it created a wave of vacuum that cleared all of the danmaku, and continued onward towards the oni herself.

"This will be fun!" Youkai said as she watched the two retaliate. The young one blocked her stone and bullets, while the old one sent a slash her way. Youkai brought her arms up, crossed them over herself, and took the slash full on. She was pushed back several feet, pulling up grass as she was pushed back. "That hurt, I've gotta admit." Youkai said as she uncrossed her arms and took a ready stance.
She then reached into her sleeve and pulled out a spellcard. "Feat of Strength "Adjustment of Direction"!" Youkai called out. Youkai pulled her hands in in front of her and formed an orange ball of danmaku. She pulled it back and then shot it forward, it instantly growing in size as it left Youkai's hands, although it flew at a rather slow speed. As it flew it ran across the ground, creating more, small orange spheres that, after flying in upwards a little, all flew at a slower speed then the orb towards the Konpaku's.

After her grandfather cleared the wave of danmaku, Youmu took a short respite, and surveyed the battle. Youki was currently engaged head-on with the Oni, and it appeared the Oni was focusing her next attack in both their direction. Just maybe...
Youmu sheathed Roukanken, then channeled energy and focused her qi. With a sudden burst of speed, Youmu circled around the outer edge of the ensuing danmaku storm, taking care to dodge the errant orange bullet if it came close. As she approached Youkai, she quickly withdrew the demon blade without altering the speed of her run, aiming her swing for Youkai's neck... no, she hesitated, and armed for the arm instead.

As Youmu circled one way, Youki mirrored her movements in the opposite direction, and as Youmu closed in to hit, so did he. As she aimed for the oni's arm, however, Youki slashed at the legs.

Oooh, these two were good. Very skilled, it seemed. Well, they did say that, after all. Youkai took the two blows, ending her spell card then and there. Youkai dashed forwards after their attacks hit her. She turned to face her two enemies as she spoke. "Well well, you two are certainly fun!" She said to them. "But we're not done yet!" Youkai leaped backwards, creating a larger space between her and the Konpaku's, as well as creating a rather large dent in the ground.
Youkai then pulled out a spell card and shouted, "Feat of Strength "Rain Made of the Mountain"!" Youkai lifted her leg into the air and slammed it on to the ground, sending several large chunks of earth into the air. She then proceeded to jump up after them, hovering in mid-air as the earth prepared for its descent. The oni charged up her energy and the released it, encasing the hunks of earth in orange danmaku, several orange orbs orbiting around each. The now orange chunks of earth did not fall to the ground, but hovered in the air with Youkai. The oni snapped her fingers and with that snap the earthen hunks blew apart into several, varying sizes of orange pieces which all descended to the ground, like rain.
Now that her spell card was underway, Youkai prepared to start the pattern over again, this time from the air. She would also follow up with an additional shot, but only after her next wave started. She was pretty much wide open to most attacks.
