Helena Augusta felt herself growing restless as she stared out at the open fields of her mother's herd. Should the day arise for her mother to step down she was the one who was going to be the one to step into her place, however, Helena felt that she herself needed to improve quite a bit if she was to be ready for such a role. Leading a herd was a tough task and while she was blessed enough to have a mother who made sure to instill in her children a good set of morals and mildly train them in the art of combat should a life or death situation arise, it wasn't enough. Not if she was going to be queen one day anyways. That was when she had heard of a stallion by the name of Macklyn who could train her, or someone like her. Helena Augusta had never left her home before with the exception of visiting her grandfather's herd but that was only a short walk away. Hardly a journey by any means. Macklyn apparently wasn't that far away either right now, however, he was in a location that was farther away than she had ever traveled before. She felt slightly nervous at the prospect of leaving home for the first time.

"I can do this." She told herself confidently. There was no need to be afraid, and if she was then that was all the more reason why she should go. Helena took a deep breath and on the exhale turned herself and began the trek from her homeland and into the woods. Thankfully she'd mentioned to her mother earlier in the day that she may go seek out this stallion. Victoria, her mother, only smiled and told her it was good that she was getting out for a change. She didn't seem to understand Helena's need and thirst to be a good queen one day. Then again, Victoria hadn't known she would be queen until her great-grandfather had left her the herd right before his passing. She hadn't had time to prepare. Helena on the other hoof did. Maybe that's what made the future even more nerve-racking?

It took Helena a day's walk to reach the area where the stallion was rumored to be. Despite the fact that it was nearly dark, Helena decided she would at least begin with introducing herself to this knight and see if he would indeed take her on as a student. Now that she was here she had to keep herself from shaking. "Calm down." Helena whispered to herself. Just as she'd seen her mother do before she addressed the herd, she closed her eyes, inhaled, letting the feeling of calm wash over her and warm memories fill her. When she opened her eyes once more she felt light like a feather. If she had wings like her sister Adalaide she would have been unable to keep herself grounded.

"Hello, is anyone there?" Helena called out with an even tone. Her blue eyes scanning the area for this stranger who could help her with the beginning steps in becoming a great queen someday, hopefully.

It had been a bit of a long day for Mac, he had argued a bit with his brother over a comment about their lost sibling. He knew it was a long shot, but he still hoped she could be out there somewhere. Cael on the other hand, had given up on her long ago. Unfortunately, Mac didn't think he could handle looking for her on his own, not with a weak leg. He had gotten upset, and said something he didn't really mean. But, oh, he knew how his brother could hold onto a grudge forever. It would be a day or two before he could even think about apologizing. And then a few days longer to keep an eye open for some sort of revenge before they could really patch it back up.

He had basically been walking around kicking up dirt all day, and watching his back for Cael, so he had barely noticed the darkening skies. he enjoyed the late evening anyway, but he was nearly startled when he heard a voice calling out. Usually it would be hard to get within ten feet of him without him knowing you were there, but whoever this was, had gotten very close because of his wandering mind.

He was instantly on alert, a habit from all his training. His bright blue eyes scanned around him until he spotting a blotch of pink standing out against the browns and greens of the forest around him. She would be hard to miss, had he maybe walked right by her? Well, better not keep a lady waiting for too long. He started to head in her direction, and smiled when he popped out from behind a tree at her side.

"Hello there miss, might I ask what bring a lady as lovely as yourself all the way out here?" She didn't seem like the wandering type. Although she seemed to have been traveling a bit by the leaves stuck to the end of her long braid. The rest of her almost screamed something like royalty. Maybe not actual royalty, but someone with higher standing over others.

To be fair to the stallion, Helena hadn't even noticed that he was nearby until he had come upon her, responding to her call. When he did appear she smiled and held her ground. Admittedly he had startled her just a tad by popping up from behind a tree. Helena took that as a good sign though since he seemed to have quiet footsteps. Maybe he was the one she was seeking and maybe he really would live up to the rumors surrounding him. Helena Augusta gave herself a moment to think about how to exactly answer his question.

"Thank you very much." She began. "I'm currently searching for a stallion whom I heard might be able to train me in the ways of combat." Helena smiled a bit. Through her experience, there were quite a few males in the world that having heard what she just said would have gawked and laughed at her. Not that she didn't understand why the would. Helena certainly didn't seem like the type to fight and she knew it herself, however, she was determined to be a useful as she could as a member of the herd let alone it's future leader.

Helena allowed herself to look the stallion over which she made perfectly clear. He seemed to have a strong build though something seemed to not match well with him. She couldn't quite put her hoof on it though. "Have you heard of a stallion named Macklyn by chance? He is rumored to be in this area." She added, unsure if she had said the name correctly. There was a good chance that the whole myth of him was simply just that, despite this though Helena had chosen to seek out the truth of it. Well, hopefully. Helena had put a lot of faith in this stallion before she had even met him. It hadn't occurred to her either that this stallion she'd encountered was the one she had been searching for. "My name is Helena Augusta. You may call me Helena if you wish." Helena added, making sure that she left it open for him to tell her his name or not. She wouldn't push or pry him for it.

Macklyn was quite impressed by the mare's ability to remain calm despite his sneaking up on her. It proved a lot to him right from the beginning. Suddenly he ignored that fact that she had a beautiful cover, and started to wonder about what sort of warrior could be hiding behind it. As he listened to her reply a smile crossed his face. So she was looking to be a 'warrior' of sorts. His smile was truly genuine and there was no mocking coming from him as he was sure many other males would do if presented this situation.

However, his father had told him stories about amazing female Knights, many who either matched or went above and beyond their male counterparts. He would be more than happy to show this lovely mare some tricks. She seemed to know how to handle herself well already in the ways of conversation, she must have been trained in some fashion already.

"Well Helena Augusta, you are definitely in the right place. I had no idea there were such rumors about me out there. But, my family does have a bit of a name for themselves in this area. It would be my honor to train such a lovely mare." He had opened himself up as a teacher to a few by now, he couldn't do much combat himself so he decided to be useful to his family in another way.

When Macklyn replied to her she felt her heart fill with joy. This trip had not been a terrible idea, at least as far as finding him and getting him to help train her went. The actual learning part could still go either way. No, she needed to have some confidence in herself. Then it occurred to her that she had not asked his name. From the way he responded she assumed he was Macklyn though. "Thank you. I'm afraid I know very little when it comes to fighting so I'll try my best to be a good student." At this statement she couldn't help but blush a little. It was better to be honest and upfront with him in the beginning though. At least that's what she thought.

"I heard many rumors about you and your family. I'm glad to see that they've been true thus far." Helena added with a smile. Her blue scanned the area for a moment before they returned to him. "Do you live here? Or is this just where you train?" She asked curiously. Helena knew there were those that lived in forests but since she herself didn't it seemed like a foreign concept. Not that it was a problem in the least. Just another adventurous challenge she'd take on. Helena Augusta took a moment and then pawed at the ground, looking as though she were inspecting it. "It seems like it would be soft enough." She said with a laugh, turning her attention back to Macklyn. Her mind was filled with a million different questions, one's that had to do with the topic of combat and one's that were just questions asked by a traveler. Seeing as how she'd never left her family's herd lands before Helena couldn't help but wonder about everything she saw and heard around her. It took a great deal of effort on her part to not turn her head at every sound she heard. At least she wasn't a mare who spooked easily. Instead she found herself wanting to inspect every little sound she heard.

Helena smiled at Macklyn again. "I've never left my families herd lands before so I must apologize if I seem to ask a lot of questions." There was still some blush in her cheeks.

Macklyn could tell that his response to her search for a teacher had clearly made her happy. He wondered if she had doubted he'd give her a second glance because of her gender. He thought back to his mother and some of her sibling. Oh, he knew females could be tough if they took fighting seriously. His mother was not someone he ever wanted to challenge, she was tough enough on him during training.Which, she had wasted no time starting as he was still a young foal in the beginning. Even after his accident, she didn't go much easier on him. Back to the girl at hand, "I have no doubt you will be an excellent student, just by traveling all the way here you have proven that much." She seemed awfully dedicated indeed.

He was glad to hear about the rumors spreading about his family, none of them seemed to be bad. He wondered if another certain family was hearing about them and still keeping tabs on them. Had those swamp monster had enough of them yet? He wondered sometimes if he might ever see his sister again. Her next question caught him a bit off guard. "Well yes, I live here and I train here. But I wouldn't say it was permanent. Ya see, I move around a lot. Although my family does have a herd and a home. I just like the adventure of being on the move." It was almost like the could see the questions filling up her head. With a smile he began to lead her to where he actually slept, he had made a bit of a big bed out of leaves. So it was comfortable, and kept the dirt off of him at night. The trees above made a decent shelter in the event of rain.

"I think it's comfy, and don't worry about asking me too many questions. I've always been a talker, and I know a lot about these woods here. I promise I'll take any of your questions seriously." He gave her a sweet smile, and was surprised by how easily he could make out her blush against her light pink coat.

Before the stallion responded, she could see he seemed to have other thoughts on his mind but decided not to press him. "That is kind of you to say. Thank you." She replied. There was a shiver of excitement that passed down her spine. Could this be real? She felt as though someone should n** at her in that moment because it hardly seemed possible for her to have found an instructor so quickly.

At his next response Helena nodded her head. She understood how one's passions or desires could lead them a little further from home and obviously, she hit that marker herself. Though, it was highly likely that she would return home when she had completed the training she was seeking. Although, listening to Macklyn there was a spark of curiosity growing within her. What would it be like to adventure further? What kinds of soquili would she meet? The questions were once more building within her. "It sounds rather exciting. Although, it must be a bit lonely at times." Helena made her last statement have a questioning tone to it as if to ask him if he was lonely but not quite trying to push him into answering such a question.

"Thank you!" Helena beamed from ear to ear. Her face immediately changed to one of thought. What else could she ask the stallion? Oh! "How long have you been training? Who taught you? What brought you here exactly?"
