Life for the God of Wishes was proving to be a bit taxing. Every moment was spent granting someone worthy creatures wish. He needed a well-deserved break from his routine. Either that, or he needed help, but who was there to help him? Who could he approach that would be willing? He spent the better part of a year thinking about his dilemma, when it occurred to him who to ask. She had just the resources that he needed, and he had the perfect idea of how to use them; but would she be willing? He hadn't spoken to her in ages, literally. The gods tended to keep to themselves for the most part, unless there was some gathering they were all called to attend. "Well, I'll never know if I don't ask," he told himself, so he resolved to make the trip to her realm and do just that.

Gold jewelry and blue gemstones tinkled together lightly with her every step as she walked around her palace. She was beginning to grow lonely, despite the number of genies that surrounded her regularly. They were all so easy to take care of. They knew what they were supposed to do and they did so with ease. She felt as if there was no need for her except as a figurehead. Perhaps it was silly to feel thus, but as she looked around, even her genies were growing bored. They needed more work, more things to do.

He arrived at her palace not exactly sure what he was going to say. The genie's guarding the doors recognized him and opened the doors for him to enter. He wasn't sure where she was, so he called a nearby genie over and asked it to guide him to its mistress. He was led through various passages and rooms as the genie searched for her. He had to admit, her palace was adorned much more than his own. As they approached an intersection of passages, he could hear the tinkling of jewelry and knew she was close. As they turned the corner, he was greeted by the sight of her beauty not far away. He dismissed his genie guide, and approached her. "Greetings goddess," he said.

Her genie had already announced the arrival of the other deity, and she turned when she heard his voice. "Greetings yourself," she purred with a smile. It was rare for anyone to visit her palace, especially the god of wishes. "And what, may I ask, brings you to my humble abode?" She had to appear confident despite the aching loneliness that had been her new companion.

He loved the sound she made when she purred like that. He stepped up to her and lowering his head, touched his lips to her paw. He lifted his head and answered her question with a question. "I was wondering if you might be interested in lending me the help of some of your genies? I have more wishes to grant than I have time in which to grant them. I think your genies might be able to help lessen my work load. Is there somewhere more comfortable we can go to, and discuss it?" The passageway was lovely, but he wanted to be alone with her, away from the prying eyes of roaming genies.

She arched one elegant eyebrow at his question, her lips curling into a smile behind her veil. "Of course," she said. "Please, follow me." She turned then and led him down one hallway and up another before they reached her chambers. The doors were pushed open for them by two of her genies, the golden door opening onto her private sitting room. It was decorated in silk pillows, all in shades of blue. More blue silk was draped from the walls and ceiling. "Please, make yourself at home," she said before settling herself on her favorite pillow, the largest of the array that had been laid out. With one paw she gestured for the genies to leave them alone and to not disturb them unless called.

He followed her into her chambers, taking in the beauty around him as he did. She had always loved the color blue, which was one reason why he had chosen blue bells to wear as an adornment. As she settled herself on a pillow, he took his rest on one to her left. He waited for the genies to leave and then turned to her. "I must apologize for delaying my next visit for so long a time. The Medaria seem to be intent on keeping me busy with their wishes these days. Of course, not all of them are worthy of my granting them, but a good number of them are. You would not believe how many below wish to be in love. If only they knew that I could not grant them that particular wish. It would reduce the number of wishes substantially."

She waved a paw and smiled at him. She always loved his visits, and had been missing him, but she didn't like to show so much emotion. "Oh, please, don't worry about that. It's always a pleasure when you visit," she said and smiled. She nodded as she listened to him speak, loving the sound of his voice. She chuckled softly. "I can only imagine the number. It would be easier if the wishes came with someone to explain the rules, would it not?"

"That is an excellent idea Esha! And I believe your genies would be the perfect 'someone's' to do just that. However, I do not want to impose upon you if there are other duties they must attend to. And they would have to be willing participants. I would not want to force any to do something they would not be comfortable with. If I had the help of perhaps 10 of your genies, I might have more time to come and visit with you more often." Visiting with her was just one of the wishes he would grant himself, if he were able to do such a thing. "Tell me one of your wishes Esha, and I shall fulfill it right now."

She blinked at the intensity of his reaction, but she smiled, pleased that she'd been able to spark something. She snorted softly. It wasn't a very lady-like sound, but she didn't care. "Have you seen how many genies lay about lazily in my palace? They are in need of more to do, and this will be perfect for them. You may have ten of my genies, and if this works the way you expect it to, then we can come to another agreement." Ten of her genies was nothing, but it was a good start, plenty to see if his idea would work. She blushed softly at his offer to fulfill one of her wishes. She wondered what he would make of it... "My wish...would be to spend more time with you, Amani."

It was as if she had read his mind. He couldn't have wished for a more perfect answer to his question. The fact that she was more than willing to lend him the use of some of her genies was nothing compared to her wish. "That my sweet Esha, is one wish I will most gladly fulfill for you. If my use of your genies proves effective, we will no doubt have much more time to spend in each others company. Now, let us see if we can work out just how your genies are going to aide me in my wish granting. Have you any ideas for that my lovely goddess?"

As to her question, he hadn't thought that far in advance. "Well, I suppose each genie could grant more than one wish per Medaria, but I would say not more than three. And I suppose we could make it a bit tricky as well. If the Medaria even hints that something is a wish, the genie must take that as one of their wishes, and grant it. And the Medaria would have to retain possession of the genie, in order to have all three of its wishes granted. If someone else were to gain possession of the genie before all three were granted, the Medaria would lose the remainder of their wishes, and they would be granted to whoever has possession of the genie. But how to make it possible for someone to possess one of your genie's, and would your genie's even be acceptable to that?"

"Three seems like a good number," she said and nodded. "I like the rest of it." She smiled at him. How to possess a genie...that could be tricky. She looked around her room, at the various bottles and lamps she had laying around because they had been pleasing to her eyes. "What if we attached each genie to a lamp, or a bottle? The Medaria would have to stumble across it, and perhaps say something or do something to make the genie appear. The genie would then explain how the wishes worked and they'd go from there," she suggested.
