My TeepeeHowl had been practicing, so why couldn't he make his sounds louder? Frowning, though some namely his mother would call it pouting, he stared off into the distance. Taking a deep breath and lifting his head up towards the moon Howl let out another sound that came deep from his throat. "Ahoooo!" He paused making no motion and waited. He was waiting for answering sound to see if there were any like him. Part wolf, part horse. In his small little world Howl had only met his mother, father, brothers, and grandpa. He had heard stories of others but had yet to come across any. His mother was close and he knew that because he could scent the air. He had been practicing! Her low whine of displeasure let Howl know him making sounds was getting on her nerves. He giggled and let out a long whine of apology.

Kamiki's Teepee

Behind the treeline, out of sight, Moon Quarry was rooting around the thick woodlands floor, looking for springtime berries on request of her mother. She carried a small satchel she would put them in as she found them, using her sharp cerynei hooves to dig up the best patches.
Though not exceptionally loud, a noise floated over the wind, causing Moon's ears to swivel back sharply. She quickly lifted her head, he wolf-like tail quickly whipping up to a full display. She sniffed the wind, trying to judge if she was in danger. Moon was always a skittish creature, but this sound was no normal wolf that may cause her danger.
Narrowing her eyes, she very carefully and silently moved towards the sound, peering through the trees and foliage. She saw a little dark colt, trying to howl?
A frown tugged on the side of her face. Was he alone out here? Was he lost. "Are you lost?" she asked before fully revealing herself, in case she had to bolt.

Howl had already forgotten to stop practicing his voice throwing and was going in from another howl let out a startled choking noise at the sudden voice of another. He didn't see her at first, it wasn't until she stepped into the stray beam of the moon that Howl got her in his sights. He took her in with widen glowing blue eyes and then he looked behind her at- "Your just like me!" The words came out blurted from shock. "At least you have a tail like me! Oh- oh no I'm not lost! My pack is around. This is our territory." Howl moved his tail cautiously slow back and forth in a waggle of greeting. His nose flared taking in all the scents. "Are there more like you? Like us--wolfponies? Unless you are capony which is a cat and horse--mom says she's seen those." He took a deep breath before asking one more question, " Is your family here? I like that thing on your back." He couldn't help that he was curious, it was in his nature. Plus this female didn't smell like a bad sort and he was vastly becoming a good judge of character for one so young. It was almost like he had a sixth sense about things and knew when things would go wrong if he didn't pay attention.

"Oh, I'm glad you're not lost. I didn't mean to intrude," she said quickly, and looked around. She certainly didn't want to encroach one someone else's territory.
Though, addressing the issue of her tail, she looked over the little black colt and noted his wolfish tail. "Wolfponies?" She had never heard it put quite like that before. Her father was very much indeed more a wolf than a horse, but she never really knew there were others. "My father was a wolf, mostly" she said. She knew he had once been a Soquili like many others, but something had happened to him; it was nothing he would speak of, and Moon didn't know the details. He had been a 'wolf' as long as she had known him. "And my mother a cerynei. We live not too far from here - me, my mother, father, and sisters. Sometimes others like up come join, too. Ones like us."
She adjusted her black cape at the mention of it and gave him a small smile.

"Yes wolfponies," Howl blinked cutely at the female. "Half-pony, half-wolf! The best kind ever!" His tail moved even more furiously as if it were in agreement. His little mouth was shaped almost into an 'o' at the thought of having a daddy that was more wolf then horse. Speaking of daddies... a frown formed on his little face, it upsetting him that his father had yet to come home. Mama had said father had been there when he and his brothers were born...so what the heck!? Howl huffed before tuning back in. "Cer-ney? Huh never heard of tha' 'afore. Ooh, so you have'a pack? I don't have no sisters." The thought of running into more soquili like him was really exciting, it would be nice to make funs with those that understand him. "What do you do for fun? I like find the scent and um a game called I'm the fastest!" He puffed out his chest proudly. Howl had been practicing his skills and he didn't let his age stop him from going beyond that limitation.

"A cerynei...uh, I guess they are like deerponies," she just with a smile and a shrug. She lifted her cloven hooves to show him. "Kind of an off match, huh?"
She tilted her head when he asked her what she did for fun. "Hmmm, I mostly play with my sisters." Moon was pretty much a homebody. Once when exploring in the woods her asd her sisters were ambushed by hunter...while they had prevailed, it harrowing experience had left her pretty shaken. "I usually stay pretty close to home, but Mother wanted from summer berries, so I came looking for some."
She chucked at the enthusiastic foal. "You're fast, huh? That's a good skill to have."

Howl blinked up at the female, his mind was...deerponies? Huh, interesting. He eyed the hoof curiously before tapping her hoof with one of his own. The sound of clicking together was nice, "Heehee." Howl nodded his head in understanding way. Family was important and it was nice being around your parents as well as siblings. His little mouth opened up and he let out a growly hum at the thought of eating berries. They certainly were juicy. "Tha' way you have that thing on your back? To carry all the food?" Howl puffed his chest out so much that he nearly fell over, "Yup! I'm da fastest ever! Faster then my brofas~!" The words were a little lisped but that only happened when he got really excited and the words came out too fast. "Oh! Yeah, some good berries are over by the pond or like the bushes." He said vaguely as some foals his age would do. He understood a lot but like most his age Howl didn't grasp certain concepts. "They are blue and red and sometimes the red looks like blood." He looked at Moonquarry with wide eyes. "...OH! I'm Howl. Howl Black--doh I forgot to say my name. Mama would have told me that's rude."

Quarry shifted the bag on her back. "Yeah, I've been collecting berries for mother. Thanks for tip, I'll have to check out the pond later. Do you eat berries? Or meat like a wolf?"
She chuckled a bit when she realized she had failed to introduce herself as well. "Nice to meet you, Howl Black. My name is Moon Quarry."

"Um both? Yeah both." Howl nodded strongly. "Berries are very juicy things! Almost like blood which is--" Howl wrinkled his nose. "-kinda gross now that I said it. Meat can be tasty my mom makes the best food!" He was about to say more when the adult female started talking again and now he knew her name! "Oh I love your name!! It has Moon in it! I love the moon, its round and beautiful and bright! Does your mama know you are here? That's nice that you are getting her berries. I think my mama likes berries it's hard to tell sometimes.. Maybe I can help you and get some berries of my own! That oka? I can't stay out too long 'cause my mama or dad will be worryin' 'bout me!"

"My father eats meat, but my mother eats only grasses and berries and things like that," she said. "I've eaten meat before - it does not upset my stomach like my mother, but I don't care much for the taste of it." She paused and looked back at the stain forever imprinted on the rump of her pelt. "Or the blood."
Wow, this little one sure did like to talk! Quarry that it was charming however, and kept the warm, friendly smile on her face. "No I don't mind at all, how nice of you to offer to help me. Mom knows I'm out, but as long as I'm back before dark I don't think she will worry."
