"Hello?"
It was a question as weak as a whisper, and it'd be of any miracle should it be actually heard. Even so, the petite Usdia could not bring herself to raise her voice as she stood in alert, as still as stone. Adrenaline was coursing through her veins, but mixed with her tension it might as well have been cement in her limbs. For she could have sworn that she heard something nearby in the meadow. Green eyes scanned the smooth horizon once, twice, and three times with no success. But with the low grass and shallow curves of the hills surrounding her, there wasn't a place in sight for anyone to hide.

A deep breath escaped the mare, herself unaware that she had stopped breathing during her scan. There wasn't a soul in sight, it was just her. Hm, the sound could have very likely been caused by the Northbound winds. Yes, that must have been it. Nahanni turned her gaze upwards and squinted her delicate eyes against the breeze. While the morning had been refreshing and promising of enough cloud coverage for cooler temperatures, the sight before Nahanni now was not one she had been expecting. It was only midday, and already the overcast had taken on a somber gray hue, with patches of sunlight scarcely making it through the thick blanket of clouds. The pungent smell of rain hung in the air as fair warning to the Usdia of what was to come....

It was through stubborn perseverance alone that the stallion continued his march forward. It had only been two days, but already he was growing tired of the endless repetition of hills and course grass that teased his every step. His travels were leading him South, further away from his homeland and into the core of this new frontier. And while he did admit that the open meadows were an easier terrain compared to the rugged mountains he had crossed not too long ago, it was not a luxury to his destination. For if he knew the one he was looking for, and he was certain that he did, then he would not find her here. A lack of coverage was not an appealing feature for a lone traveler. That fact alone made Nithralith grit his teeth. Certainly, the one he was pursuing must have wasted no time crossing these lands…and now he was expected to do the same.

Nithralith flinched, and then shook his face side to side with a grimace. The rain was coming, and if there was any telling from the fat droplet that had just fallen in his eye, it was going to be an impressive downpour. Blinking owlishly, the stallion sized up the dark clouds above him. How convenient that they would span across the entire meadow. “Such is my luck. But who am I to complain; it’ll be a nice change of scenery…if anything.”

The mini mare picked up her heels and marched faster as the raindrops began to pummel down with more force. It had hardly been thirty minutes, and already the ground beneath her hooves was becoming a slushy texture as the grass weighed down into the mud. And for an equine with such short legs, it wasn't the most ideal of traveling options, as a small slip could easily land her on her face. A boom resonated in the clouds above her, and Nahanni nearly caved in with a heart attack as she leapt at the sound. T-thunder too? Feeling panic begin to flood her veins, Nahanni urged herself forward all the faster. But there wasn't a forest in sight among these horizons, offering her no option of coverage against the storm. It made her feel all the more vulnerable, as if she were a beacon tempting the storm to strike her down since she was wandering out in the open. Such were her concerns that she missed sight of the other Soquili also venturing through the meadows, his distant form hazed over by the sheet of rain that fell across her vision.
