In between Laisidhiel and where Telrunya City floats, in the biggest open space she could find, Spitfire had been building a small hut for herself to live in, now that it was complete, she could finally open her flying academy, where she could teach all winged pae the skills to fly. The yellow fauny stood back to admire her handiwork. She had been working at this since shortly after they had arrived on Telrunya, and now the sign was hanging for all pae to see. "Flying Academy" it read in a big banner over her hut, and then a smaller sign read "Inquire within." Spitfire smiled proudly before going back into her hut, she knew it might be awhile before she had any pupils since word had to spread. She was well practiced at teaching flying to young faunies and was looking forward to being able to teach them again. Spitfire was sure she'd have quite the broad array of pupils now that she was outside of Laisidhiel. She just couldn't stay there with the majority of winged creatures living outside of the tree. It had been a couple of weeks since Spitfire had finished her shop that Twinkleshine had gotten word of the academy. It seemed perfect! The girl already knew how competent she was at teaching flight from their time in their homeland, so there were few other people she could have hoped more for to be the one to teach flight to her daughter.
Coming to the door, she knocked on the hard wood and waited for someone within to answer or call her in.Oh how embarrassing! As much as she loved her doting mother, there were times that Sparrow wished she would just leave her alone to do her own thing. How could she, or her uncle for that matter, ever hope to understand the intricacies of wings and flight? She didn't even understand it, not yet of course. It would probably come naturally with all of her talent and stuff. But still, why did she need her mother babying her like this?

Spitfire was somewhat surprised when she heard that first knock on her door. Of course, it could be something completely unrelated to her school, but she was hopeful. As she opened the door the first thing she saw was a unicorn fauny. Spitfire wasn't sure she knew this faun's name. Afterall, it had taken her forever to learn Rainbow Dash's name and she was an outstanding flyer... and this pae was not a flyer at all. Curious. "Can I help you?" Spitfire asked as she opened the door the rest of the way, this was clearly unrelated to her flight academy, that hopeful spark was diminished.
Spitfire's head moved slightly past the doorway, and she saw the strange creature that had reluctantly accompanied Twinkleshine. It wasn't the strangeness of the creature that caught her eye though, it was the wings. The hope returned to Spitfire and she smiled warmly.

Clapping her hands together twice, Twinkleshine grinned and nodded. "Yeah! I overheard about you from someone in the tree, and I remember you being so-o-o good at teaching flying, so I just had to come see if it was real. You see..." she paused motioning to Sparrow. "...this is Sparrow, my daughter." Again she paused, motioning with her eyes for the teenager to introduce herself.
Her arms still crossed, the girl got the hint. "Adoptive daughter, just to clarify, but yeah, I'm Sparrow. Nice to meet you."
Twinkleshine had to restrain herself from rolling her eyes; man, had this girl gotten an attitude recently! "Yes... Well, as you can see, she has wings and I, unfortunately, don't. Now, she could probably figure out how to fly on her own, but... I think it'd be better if she had someone to help her out who already knows how."

Lust wasn't sure about this, she wished she could teach Aella how to fly herself but she couldn't fly so she had to do the next best thing and go to someone who DID know how to fly and so, having been around the tree and over hearing a few things one was of a flight school and whilst she wasn't sure who this Spitfire Pae was good or not the Fauny had to be better then nothing and besides that, she could take her daughter out of the programme if need be. "Aella, sweetheart, come on, we don't want to be late" she said as she held her hand out to her.
Aella's wing, thankfully, wasn't broken or anything, it was now sitting on her back, folded in with the other but as for her other injuries, they were still there "coming" she said as she took her mothers hand, thankfully the injuries she does have won't hinder her flying "I guess it is better I do this now, isn't it?" She said with a sigh as she took her mothers hand "I'm sorry for scaring you" she said as she kissed her mothers cheek.
"Don't worry about it darling, what is done is done, you will heal" she said as she looked at her daughter, wrist wrapped in a bandage, her leg wasn't too bad after being stung, thankfully but the bruise around her eye? That just looked horrible, after this class she would take her daughter to the healing house, where she should have gone after their lunch with Hoity, but she wanted to at least enrol her daughter first and get that out of the way and she didn't want to miss out on a spot so this had to be first and her daughter didn't seem to be worried about her eye so she felt it may not be AS serious as what it seemed (and hopefully it wasn't) so yes, that could wait just a little bit longer.
Aella knocked on the door and waited, hopefully this wasn't going to take too long.

Spitfire was surprised at the mention of the winged girl being Twinkleshine's daughter. It sounded to Spitfire, like she must have been pretty busy. Spitfire had been busy too trying to make a new home in this land. "Sparrow, alright. My name is Spitfire, I am the former captain of the Wonderbolts, a flying act back where... your mother comes from. Anyways, back home I trained ordinary flyers to be elite flyers." Spitfire walked out of her hut, shutting the door behind her. It wasn't as strict as her usual introductory speeches were, but this was beginning flying, not the major leagues.
The yellow faun could easily spot the tension that was going on between mother and daughter. "I'd be more then willing to help, if your daughter is willing to learn." Spitfire added, not wanting to deal with any teenaged drama.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Spitfire looked at the sheet of parchment in front of her, reviewing her notes from a previous lesson in order to prepare something for next time. There were certainly a few points that needed to be covered more in depth. She glanced up hearing voices coming from outside. Spitfire, glanced out the window, checking the positioning of the sun. Too early for anyone she might be expecting. The knock quickly followed her thoughts and Spitfire stood up and answered the door. Two winged pae. One looked similar to a student she was already doing lessons with, the other... almost looked like a winged fauny.
"Hello," Spitfire didn't have to question why they were here, it was pretty clear. "Are you both here for flying lessons?" Spitfire questioned, inspecting the two individuals in front of her. The female quickly noticed the injuries, and was uncertain if they were flying related or not. "My name is Spitfire, I'm the flight instructor here. You're... you're not a fauny are you?" She asked Lust.

((I am fine if they are in the same post if Dai is.))
Lust smiled at the Fauny who came out and shook her head "hi, I am Lust and no, I am not, I am a demi god if you wish to be technical, my mortal father is a Faun" she said as she gestured to her daughter "I am here to enrol her if that is at all possible and before you ask why I can't teach her myself it is because I can't fly and have a phobia of heights so I heard of you through a Faun at the tree and thought that if anyone was able to teach her it would be you, that is, if you have space for her" she sad as she looked to her daughter.
Aella walked up and smiled at the Fauny "hello, I am, Aella, it is a pleasure to meet you" she said politely to the other.

Grinning, Twinkleshine nodded her head and moved to gently nudge Sparrow in front of her. "She'd be happy to learn from someone as great as you!"
Sensing that this was a way of her mother indirectly giving her a command, the bird had to go along with it. After all, when it came down to it, no matter how the two of them acted, her mother got the final say. Period. End of discussion. And the teenager had yet to act against this. Nothing she'd been made to do or not do by her mother's rules had affected her negatively in the end, so there was no reason to think future rules would.
Besides, it was kind of interesting to meet more pae from her mother's home. Their house's location meant that they usually didn't receive too many visitors, if any, from the tree. "Guess this means I'm your student now, eh?" she asked, flashing a sideways grin there at the end. "So... when do we start?"

Spitfire looked between Twinkleshine and her daughter with some hesitation. Students that were forced into a class often made very good students. The fauny set those feelings aside when Sparrow began talking. "Yes, we'll have you up in the air in no time. We can begin now if you are ready. Your mother can come back for you in an hour." Spitfire began talking in a very formal manner, it was time to get down to business. She marched around Sparrow once, looking her over and observing the differences in wing structure. Sparrow's wings, and the addition of tail feathers, was quite different from her own, but Spitfire was certain that the concept was still the same.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Right." Spitfire responded to Lust, she wasn't very familiar with the gods and customs of this new land. It was hard for Spitfire to believe or understand a fear of heights, since flying came so naturally to her, but in the past she had students with problems that made them more difficult to teach. Spitfire called them learning disabilities, it was easy to break the fear once the student was given more confidence in their own abilities. The yellow pae nodded her head in affirmation, "Yes, I do have space. I actually have a similar student who just finished her first lesson. I can catch you up to where she is at and then have you meet at the same time." Spitfire stepped out of her hut and shut the door behind her. "If you are ready, we can begin now... Aella. You can return for her in an hour if you like."

"Of course~!" Moving a few steps closer to her daughter, Twinkleshine gave her a nice, big hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I'll be back later then; don't give her trouble, alright?" she cooed before turning around and heading away.
Oh god! The embarrassment! Why could her mother not see how much the teenager was seething in the discomfort of being treated like that in public, or in private for that matter? What was wrong with her?! Just go, shoo shoo, and leave her be. Her breath caught as she noticed the fauny walking around her... inspecting her? "I'm ready whenever; I was born ready."

Spitfire hoped that the young flyer might perform better if she wasn't under the scrutiny of her parent. She gave Twinkleshine a quick salute before turning back to her student. Sparrow was under the scrutiny of Spitfire now. The first lesson was usually the most difficult to get new students to swallow because it didn't involve any flying at all. "Yes, it appears that way." Spitfire agreed. The fauny knew she would have to empathize with her student in order for her to do her best work, so she began, "You won't like this first part." she admitted as she beckoned for Sparrow to follow her into a more open area of the field. "You may experience some pain tonight... but I promise it will get better with time and dedication."
Spitfireturned around so that she was facing Sparrow directly and flared her own wings open. "Some birds teach their offspring to fly by pushing them out of the nest... however, before that happens... you have to have the strength and muscles developed to sustain yourself." Spitfire paused in order to keep herself from starting a monologue and allow her pupil to respond.

Ah yeah, even this stranger that she had known for little over 10 minutes agreed that she was built to be in the air. How cool was that? Very cool. The smile she had been wearing faded slightly as she turned to follow. "I won't...? But flying is flying, yeah? What's not to like?" As far as the harpy was concerned, as long as it got her in the air, there was nothing that could be that bad about it. Oh, how she couldn't wait to get up there right this very instant.
Crossing her arms in front of her, she laughed. "Pain? What, do a lot of people fall down or something? Psh," she mused, her eyes widening momentarily as Sparrow was caught off-guard by her instructor's sudden turning. She tilted her head; okay, she was lost. Muscles... Why would she need to be any stronger than she already was?

It was a good place to start if Sparrow believed that there was nothing to dislike about flying. "You're absolutely right. Flying is amazing, it is the best feeling you'll ever experience. The wind rushing through your hair and feathers, being able to go anywhere your heart desires." Spitfire was almost certain that last part would appeal to the teenager, even from the brief time they had spent together.
"Not exactly... in order to prevent you from having a more serious injury I suppose. Spitfire started opening her wings in and out, then flapping them up and down, and back again. "Do as I do," Spitfire instructed. She had done these exercises many times and didn't even have to think about it. For a beginner, it might be difficult to get into the fluid of the movements and repeat them. This first exercise would give Spitfire a good idea where Sparrow was already at in her natural development. "Up and down, in and out, up and down, in and out." she instructed.

A small grin started to form on Sparrow's lips as she listened. That's all she had ever dreamed about, the ability to lift herself upon the wind on the wings on her back and go wherever her heart so chose to go. It was such a thrill to know that, soon enough, she would be able to do just that. If doing some silly-looking exercise was all that she needed to accomplish, it would be simple enough. Concentrating on her wings, the bird mimicked the movement. While it wasn't nearly as fast as her instructors, her wings seemed to naturally pick up the movement.
In, out, up, down. In, out, up, down.

Spitfire observed Sparrow and was satisfied. "I'm not sure how much you know about flying." Spitfire started. "A lot of it is gliding and letting the wind carry you, but you must be prepared to change your wings at any time, which is why we do this exercise, to make it like second nature." Spitfire explained. "I'll want you to be practicing this at home as well." Spitfire pushed herself off the ground and started flapping her wings so that she hovered slightly over the ground. "Doing something like this takes a lot of strength in your wings. You can try if you'd like, but not too high."
