She was feeling... well a little cooped up and maybe bored. Definitely not lonely. That was impossible to feel when you had someone in your head all the damn time. But since Gale no longer lived in the dorms, she felt, odd. Like her younger sibling had grown up and flown the coop. And it sucked!

:: You miss the baby, admit it. ::

:: Of course I do! ::

Which was why she was seeking something - anything - to do right now. Like find a nice section of Deus that needed remodeling. That she could demolish. Or a tree she could practice impaling Vashi into. That was always fun.

:: I'll have you know, precious, that there are much better things to impale one with. :: Fini just rolled her eyes and opened her mouth to make a tart comment, but Vashi cut her off. :: By Jack, what is that sound? Is someone speaking?! Or are they trying to clear their nose up. ::

Fini paused by the training fields, glancing around. She heard... something. But couldn't quite place the language. But that accent... ah, there!

:: It's not creepy at all, just standing and staring, precious. ::

It seemed like the smartest thing to do. He had gone to grab a few books to speak outright, constantly writing down words that he could not fully decipher as he voiced them out loud. He felt he was getting better, every time he started on a new book, he was slowly becoming more and more comfortable, and less likely to stumble over a word quite yet.

There was a lot of humming, hawwing, and - admittedly - a lot of assistance from Justice.

"There waaas a brilliant flash." He started, reading the sentance, before looking over. Nothing wrong there. "There was a sudden darkness." He continued, nodding. He got that sentence. "There was a v.. v.age-elly?" He murmured, tilting his head.

Vaguely. Echoed in his head, which made him go "Oh, thank you," outloud, before his not-so-amazing ears caught more talking, which made him look around the area he was in, before catching sight of another hunter close by, his eyebrows raising a little. She was just standing there, staring at him.

Maybe she's in awe about your horrible english.

Clearing his throat a little, he gave a little wave to her, hoping he hadn't been talking very loudly in front of her for such a long time.

Embarrassing~.

Okay so maybe Vashi had a point. It probably was borderline creepy just standing there watching the poor guy. She hadn't caught on to what he was doing at first, totally lost in just listening to the accent. Trying to place it - and come on accents were hot - and failing. It was too strong and she wasn't close enough.

:: Creeper. :: Vash yawned.

He waved, and she gave a small one in return, taking that as the closest thing to an invitation to approach him she was going to get. "Sorry to just intrude," she said with a smile. "I don't think I've seen you around before. You a new trainee by chance?"

Small talk first. Because just jumping right in was rude. Right? Psh, whatever! "Oh my gosh, you're accent is just... fabulous." Fini blurted out without second thought. "Where are you from?"

Heck, it was almost as good, if not better then Gale's British accent!

The thing about being new in this island was that there was always someone new to meet, and it appeared that the frenchman was starting to meet yet another soul who seemed to consider Deus a home (of a sort.)

Clearing his throat, his eyebrows couldn't unpin from the "slightly stunned but curious" mode, her words coming quick and without pause. Of course, it could only fuel his ego a little further when he realized that she was praising his bastardization of a language that he was now having to learn so that he could actually do his job correctly.

"Thank you . . .?" He could only mutter out at first, before looking down at the book that he was working on, before looking back up at her, trying to figure out an answer. "I am new around 'ere, oui. I came around Juin? Around the time we 'ad a meal on a boat." He offered to her, clearing his throat a little.

"Je suis un Quebecois. Canadien." He offered to her, as well as he could, before shrugging a little. "J'mapelle Dorian Côté, et vous?" he offered, before clearing his throat. "W'at is your name?"

At this rate, she was just going to end up staring stupidly at him and not hearing any of the words he actually spoke. His accent was thick and... French? Was that French?! Oh right. He was totally speaking to her. Fini gave herself a mental shake, ignoring the snickering from Vashi in her mind. "You're welcome." She managed, and then blinked at him. So he was new. Really, just a baby in regards to how long he'd been on the island.

"So not that long ago, then." She offered with a smile. He was doing pretty good with his words. Since she could understand what he said. At least until his next sentence. Huh?! Was that Canadian in there? "Wait, so you're... from Canada?" Fini tried, brows scrunching up a bit as she worked to decipher what he said. The last bit was a little easier. Dorian. That sounded like his name!

:: All I heard was someone trying to clear their throat of gunk. :: Vashi growled.

"I'm Infinity Wynaero." She held out her hand in greeting. "Or just Fini." She added.

It was evident that she did not speak a lick of french, unlike Solia, who was a breath of fresh air.

"Fini, oui. It is easier for me to say." He stated, giving a little shrug. After a moment, he extended a gloved hand to cup her own hand in to and gave her a welcoming shake - an interaction that passed all boundaries of languages. She was nice, it seemed - which was much better than some of the girls he had met (coughami), and he couldn't help but give her a ghost of a grin, allowing her to take her hand back after a moment.

"Oui. I am from Canada, but, I was, ahh, travelling for the last few years." He admitted, shrugging. "W'en I was picked up, I was in Germany, I t'ink." He finished.

"Et vous? Where are you from?" Give a little, take a little.

She just gave him a lopsided grin. "Yeah. A lot of people seem to find it easier." And she kind of liked the nickname, since her name was unique and yes she'd gotten the Buzz Lightyear phrase said to her many times. Though Dory seemed... gentlemanly? So far.

:: I still don't see how that is speaking. Really, precious. Just ask the poor man if he needs to hack up a lung or something. ::

:: Shut up! It's an 'accent'. Because he's from another country. Don't your kind of different accents? ::

:: Not like that. ::

"Really? Where all did you travel to?" She asked, intrigued. Traveling was not something she got to do much of. "Wow, Germany?" What had he been doing there, she wondered. But that was not something she was going to ask. "But you're... accent. It's not Canadian or German?" So where did he pick up that gorgeous trait?

"Eh, me?" Fini gave him a slightly sheepish smile. "No where quite as exciting. I'm from California." Did he know where Cali was?

"Where 'aven't I been?" he asked out loud, thinking about it as if it was a huge revelation that he had just found himself on, leaning back a bit to think about it, bringing a gloved hand to his chin and scratching it absentmindedly as he thought. "I did a fair sweep of Europe. UK. France, Germany, I t'ink I dabbled in the Netherlands." He stated, giving her a little look before sitting back, his accent being questioned. It sometimes came out, and he couldn't help but give a little laugh.

"My accent ees Canadien, oui. I am from Quebec - une petite boondock town out of nowhere. We all speak French. I didn't learn english until I was around 16." He stated, giving her a 'truefax' face. "Never been to . . . em. . ." a pause, before airquotes, "Sunny California, is w'at they call it, oui? Always wanted to, though." He finished, thinking about it further.

Fini just stared at him, rather impressed with all the places he'd been able to visit. "Daaaaamn~" She said in awe. And maybe a bit of jealousy. "I always wanted to visit Europe." A pause. "And the Netherlands, oh gosh." What she wouldn't have given to go there! "I bet it was beautiful." She murmured with a sigh.

"Canadian? Really?" Huh. She had to snicker a little at his description of his home tome. "Boondock town?" Her lips twitched. "Well, for only learning around 16, doing pretty well. Accent is just thick on some words." Fini added 'helpfully'. "It's kinda hot, actually." Okay maybe really hot. That thick accent. Yep. Mind totally not heading towards the gutter. A mocking snort in her mind disagreed.

"Yeah, that's what some people call it. I lived in the norther part so it was a little more rainy at times." But she'd loved it. "And the beaches were always fantastic. Maybe, if we're really lucky, we can go there one of these days." They got vacation time, right?
