"Bloody sodding forest! I can't imagine why people live here!" Rastian growled, wiping the sweat off his brow. He had been assigned a task to deliver a sack of wood and supplies to a Shifter tribesman somewhere in Jauhar, the settlement of Ast to be exact. He hadn't been given a time limit of any sort, which usually meant he could relax, but due to his current sweat drenched condition, he wished he had a reason to rush.
The terrain of Jauhar was fairly new to him, filled with crystals and dark soil, he hadn't had the time to get himself better acquainted with the landscape. He knew he was close to Ast when he began to see what looked like settlements through the trees, and hastened his gait, only to trip over an unseen root in the ground. "OH FOR ******** SAKE!" He screamed, the contents of his bag spilling all over the ground. Now he was angry, sweaty, and had managed to spill his cargo everywhere! What other wonderful things could happen?!

Biroki yelped, startled, as his foraging mission for his young family was interrupted by a very loud shout. He rushed over, staff out, mind racing. What if there was an emergency? What if someone was injured? Or had been attacked? By Alkidikes? By a Radaku? By a pack of Radaku? By a pack of Giant Radaku? Being ridden by Alkidikes? He was a mage now, and he had to go help out with things like that because that was his job and he didn't want to let people down.
He wasn't sure whether he was disappointed or relieved when the shouts turned out to be from a patchwork-colored man who had only tripped on a root.
"H-hello? Are... are you allright?" he asked, running over anyway to investigate. Ah! The man's things had fallen out! But was the man all right? A cursory glance by a former healer apprentice told him 'yes', but he didn't trust it. A fall, even a trip like that could be bad! You could hit your head, you know!

Okay, now he'd made someone come to his "rescue." Faaaaannfuuuckkingtaaastiiic... He sighed, adjusted his shirt collar, and gave a rather tired gaze towards Biroki. Poor guy, must've thought one of his own kin was being ravaged or something, he'd have to make up for causing such a stir. After he cooled down enough too bloody well focus, that is.
"I'm alright, no need to fuss!" He said, shaking his head. "I'm sorry to make such a rousing sound, but I have all these things to deliver and I've managed to drop them all as you can see." He sighed and wiped his brow. "And I'm unspeakably hot. How do you all live in such intense conditions...?"

Well he was standing and grumping, which was usually a good sign... Usually. "Uhm..." well there sure were a lot of things on the ground. Biroki, unsure of what else to do, got down on his knees and started picking things up. "W-well, we usually don't wear so much..." The man must be sweltering in what he was wearing, even though he had probably stripped down. Even so! That was awfully thick clothing for these lands. Obviously, the man was from elsewhere, and he was obviously mixed. Blue skin and brown, though... Was this person from Zena? That was interesting! "... Are you... uh... sure you're okay?"

He was overheated, grumpy, and humiliated. HE WAS FIIIIINNNNEEEE. "Yes, I'm fine, don't worry." He said, nodding along to what Biroki was saying. He gathered as much as he could and shoved it all back into his satchel, before turning to close the one he had fallen on, only to find that it had ripped. He growled and turned back to Biroki.
"You wouldn't happen to have anything to patch this up with, like thread...?" He asked, heaving a sigh.

"... Really sure? I know a healer in town..." he trailed off. Hadn't talked to his uncle in a while, but he would talk to him if he had to, if this man had to see him. What was he saying, the man was sure he was okay. That was up to them, he supposed. "Thread?" oh noooo, the bag ripped. That was no good, considering how much he was carrying! "Not on me, no... But I can get some, if you need it..." He held out his bag, "I could carry some things for you, in the meantime, if you need it?"

This time when Biroki asked if he was sure, he just outright ignored him. He knew it was rude and somewhat mean to ignore someone else's concern, but he had no time to ramble on and on about how he felt and why. His satchel was ripped, and that was far more important to him than any injury that he may or may not have!
"If you wouldn't mind carrying some of these things while bringing me to a place where I can find some thread, I would be very grateful to you, sir." Rastian said, though his upset made him sound less sincere than he really intended. "Do you know of a place with thread...?"

"Oh! Yes, I do!" He did know a tailor nearby, and they had thread, of course they did. And sewing tools! The sort of things that this man would need! Biroki gathered up some of the heavier-looking items, struggling a bit- he normally didn't deal with things heavier than roots and plants. He-could-handle-it. He could! "I'll.. I'll take you there"

Rastian took a breath and let it out slowly. Alright, good, at least he would be able to patch this up while he continued his rounds. He would hate having to turn around and go back to Sauti just to get a new satchel. That would've made him very late and very very cross! He mustered a smile to Biroki and gathered whatever else was on the ground before wandering forward.
"Alright, if you don't mind taking me there, that would be wonderful." He said. "Thank you very much for taking some of the weight, too, is it not too much for you to carry?"

"No, no!" said Biroki quickly. It was kind of heavy, actually, and he was but a wimpy mage, but he had promised so he would do so! "I'm fine!" he lied, "F-follow me, then..." He hoped he could get the man to detour by Reshel's tent. It was on the way, and... and really he should get himself checked out. Falls could be nothing but they could also be serious. Really serious. "Um... If... If you don't mind me asking, where are you from?" he asked, trying not to outwardly struggle to move at a decent pace with all this... stuff. "Are you from f-far away?" Serin, stars, did this poor young man have to travel that long a way burdened with this?! It was bad enough to walk across Ast with something this heavy, and this wasn't all of it. Yes. They were definitely making a stop at Reshel's tent, despite how Biroki felt about his uncle. Reshel may be frustrating but he was still a very good healer. Actually, Biroki wasn't feeling too angry today. Maybe he was getting it under control? He hoped so! Anger was not an emotion he particularly liked. "And... what is in here?" bricks? Dead bodies? He didn't think the latter was likely, but these packages were heavy.

Rastian blinked and gave a soft eye roll towards Biroki as they walked. Well, for being 'fine', he was sure nervous about it. He sighed and followed the Shifter Mage through the village, while listening to what he was saying.
"I'm from Mez, in Sauti." He replied. "It's quite far away, but someone has to deliver these things each day or else trade lines will slow and no one will be happy." He sighed. He didn't really like to carry all these things, but he liked to travel, except into Tale. If he had to be assigned to Tale, it was a guaranteed bad day for him.
"Most of those bags contain wood, raw crystals, and hardened clay." He explained. "They may also have medical supplies, spare food, and water skins, but I tend to forget which one has what from time to time."

"That's... a very long and dangerous route..." Biroki commented, quietly. Zuri had travelled across the Tale once. He couldn't imagine traveling it on a regular basis. "You're very b-brave." he said, a little envious, "I've never really, uh, left Jahuar." Though if this was the sort of thing he had to carry each trip, then perhaps Biroki was not THAT envious. "Do you travel it alone?"

Brave? No. Commanding? YES. Rastian couldn't help but give Biroki an amused look. Sure, it was dangerous, but someone had to do it. Did he really think that just because it was daunting that no one would try to accomplish it? He may despise Tale with every fiber of his being, but if someone needed something in Jauhar by a specific date, well damn it all, he needed to be there with whatever the hell it was in tow by that time or he would be discredited. It was sink or swim, black or white, do or don't. Whatever.
"Yep, I've always traveled alone." He replied, nodding. "I don't think I'll ever have a traveling buddy, either. Maybe a pet, but certainly not another being. They might slow me down, you know? I can't be bothered for that, really. I've got things to carry, stuff to move, don't need anybody screwing that up for me, do I?"
