Mystery and Mimi were invading the park today.
It wasn't exactly an uncommon sort of activity for the duo to partake in. Mimi liked the potential adventures, and Mystery was there with her iPhone, ready to snap any special photo opportunities that arose!
With an automated camera snapshot sound, the silvery haired of the pair let out a giggle. "Meeeeeemeeeeee... can I just take you home and keep you forever? Then you can be mine, mine, mine!"
She flipped the screen of her phone to the other girl to show off the picture she got of her friend. Just the right amount of light and a nearly whimsical smile upon the other girl's face. The child would have done her Mom proud just now!
She was just about to ask if her neighbor wanted her to email a copy of the photo her way, but ended up shouting something completely different instead.
"WHATZAMAHOOZITS* WHAT IS THAT?!!" With a wild pointing gesture, the silvery haired girl was soon enough running towards the direction of what had caught her attention, only pausing long enough to shoot her friend an inquisitive glance, silently asking "Are you coming?"

After school photo shoot was a go. With Ainsley having an abundance of designer clothes Dana could only dream of getting her greasy mitts on, she was more than eager to play after school. And maybe get a few nifty stills in. It was a clear day, the park was green, it was perfect.
"This looks like a good spot," Dana announced as she tilted her head up and around to look at the lighting and turned down to fiddle with her lenses.
"What do you wanna try first? Some stills? I think some yellow coloring against the grass would look awesome and summery but I wanna get some film too. Maybe. I didn't bring any scenarios to play but!" She was bouncing around in her Mary Janes, which were already scuffed enough to get her a talking to from her father when she got home.
She flopped down on her butt and dug around in her camera bag. "I got a new memory card just for this so there's plenty of gigs."

Ainsley nodded her head softly when Dana pointed out this spot. It was nice, definitely cozy enough to settle down and read a good story. That wasn't why they were here today, although she did have some books in her backpack. In addition, like Dana's camera bag, Ainsley also toted around a bag over her own a specific purpose. Except instead of carrying it around she rolled it around on wheels. It made things smooth until they got the park and then it got a little bumpy.
"Look," she said as she pointed her hand in a guiding motion. "There's a bathroom over there." It was an excellent spot to swap the clothes she had on for some of the clothes she lugged around in her bag, and with that thought she stopped rolling her bag to look at it. Did she have anything yellow? She had a yellow scarf in there somewhere but did she have a yellow dress? She would have to open it up and see before she'd be able to confirm.
"I might have brought a yellow sundress," she pondered in response to Dana's suggestion about yellow against the grass. "I don't mind. Whatever you'd like to begin with will be satisfactory."

“Nooooooo,” Minerva squealed, wriggling away from Mystery as she tried not to giggle. “I know that you want to capture the fair princess, but the king and queen won’t stand for it!”
The park was one of Minerva’s favorite places to go, especially during the day while most kids were still in school. Aside from a few field trips, they often got the place to themselves. Depending on where they went, it made for the perfect enchanted forest, or a castle, or a mountain, or whatever suited the story of the day. Her favorite scenario was of them being princesses of neighboring kingdoms, but occasionally they were sorceresses instead, or fairies, or knights. It all depended on her mood, and what Mystery felt like doing.
Photographer Mystery was usually the Royal Artist-in-Residence, and Minerva admired the candid shot, then struck a pose. Which went unnoticed when Mystery spotted some other girls. Minerva moved to follow, then hesitated. There were only two of them, she told herself. That was still a small group. She could keep things controlled with just three other people. Even if she only knew one of them. Yes, this could work. “Coming!” she called back.
She didn’t hurry, though. If they were noisy or mean girls, she wanted to know ahead of time.

Oh how her iPhone paled in comparison to this majestic piece of equipment. The silvery haired child was not past invading the festivities of others. With wide eyes that were practically sparkling, she asked the girl who held the beautiful camera "Is that your NEX-VG10?"
There was hardly even a pause before the child asked several other questions that seemed to suggest she was running off the assumption it was indeed this girl's camera.
"How much did it cost? Did someone give it to you as a gift? Oh, I am sooooo jealous! iPhones are good, but that is just AMAZING..." Eventually, her eyes were off of the camera long enough to put a face to the piece of equipment.
"You... are the girl from the Roller Rink, right? Umm... Dayyyyyyyy.... Dana?"
Turning back to where her friend was, the girl waved wildly. "My Lady Mimi! OVER HEEEEEEERE!!!!"
Attention back on the one, oh wait, TWO, that she was with, she wiggled fingers at the other girl in the group. "Hullofericerous, Dana's-friend! What's your name? I go by Mystery!"
Had she just interrupted some sort of gathering without being invited?
Yes.
Did Mystery realize what she had done?
No, not really.

"Aw, c'mon, Ains, you're so agreeable!" Dana half complained. She wasn't good at being the boss, just being bossy, and she knew it, but as long as Ainsley was willing to play she would do her best to make it work.
And then she was interrupted by a half familiar individual. Luckily, this one came with a unique name that was hard to forget.
"You're that Mystery girl!" And then protective hands clutched her prized piece of equipment even as she smiled and nodded. "It's mine. My aunt gave it to me for Christmas. I didn't bring all the lenses, though. I like to make movies with it."
She leaned far to the side at the girl behind her who didn't seem to be in a hurry. "Whossat?"

Ainsley was very agreeable when it wasn't something she was trying to stand up for. In the presence of friends, why would she ever have to deny them? She smiled at Dana, reaching into her bag to pull out one of the dresses to get her friend's opinion of it but when she stood back up the number of people within ten feet of her had doubled. She didn't recognize any of them but Ainsley loved making new friends so a smile remained on her face.
"Salutations," she said with a small curtsey to Mystery and Minerva. "My name is Ainsley. It is a pleasure to meet you Mystery, may I be so bold as to ask you your companion's name?"

Minerva ambled over slowly, studying the new girls as she did. They looked to be about the same age as she was, but it was hard to tell. One of them had very short hair, and a camera that Mystery was ooh-ing and aah-ing over. Naturally, considering what her mother did, and how much Mystery got to help. The other girl had long, silky hair that Minerva was a little bit envious of. No matter what she did to her hair, it was always poofy and hard to control.
She was close enough to hear the girl with the pretty hair introduce herself, with a curtsy and everything. Like another princess, Minerva thought. That was it- she was on a royal trip to see one of her sister princesses. Perfect!
"My name is Minerva," she announced, adding her own curtsy. It was a little over the top- Minerva knew how to do them from ballet, but not how to integrate them into real life- and she wobbled as she straightened up. "I guess you already know the Royal Court Photographer." Oh! Maybe the girl with the short hair was the long-haired princess's photographer! That really tied everything together nicely.
Considering the camera, only one thing occurred to her. "Are you doing a Royal Photo Shoot too?" Oops, she hadn't meant to add the 'Royal' that time. Not all kids reacted well to her stories, but she lifted her head and stood by her statement. If they were mean about it, she could always drag Mystery off to play someplace else.

"Oooooo... I am so envioplorable*... my mom only allows me to use my iPhone for my own photos... which I guess isn't bad, but it isn't the same thing as a real camera!" Mystery was still eyeballing the camera really badly, her envy very obvious at the moment.
However, she also had some sort of semblance of manners, and soon enough she had her eyes upon the newly introduced one. "Aiiiiiiiiinssssssleeeeeey... hmmm... that's a fun name!" With a little giggle, she then seemed to twirl in a nearly spritely manner towards her neighbor.
She placed her hands upon the girl's shoulders, a familiar gesture on her own part. "The Lady Mimi was kind enough to humor me today and allow me the privilege of taking her picture." Soon enough her head was resting upon Mimi's shoulder too.
"Maybe we can sit in on their Royal Photo Shoot... or they can sit in on ours, Lady Mimi?"" She leaned a bit into the other girl, eyelashes fluttering and a small giggle escaping the silvery-haired one.

"Well," Dana sniffed and adjusted her body language to display a bit more pride. Even if she had an iPhone, she had her shiny professional camera and prized possession and it was all because she was cherished and trusted to own such a device.
Well maybe not trusted, but Charlie still let her have this piece of responsibility, and she was proud of that.
"Royal? Lady?" It took her a minute to piece it together in her head and wipe the confused look off her face. "Oh, are you guys playing pretend? We were just gonna dress up."
And maybe brag and blog photos later, but that was later.

Ainsley might have enjoyed dressing up like a princess but she would never pretend she was one! She might have really enjoyed them when she was younger but as she grew her love for them grew into more of a love for their attire than anything else. She didn't want to ruin their game though so she smiled rather softly, giving her thanks to Mystery for her compliment.
"I'm a lady," she said softly, wrapping her arm around Dana's enthusiastically.
"I brought a few different dresses," she said, referring to the dresses she had spread nearby ever so carefully over top of a blanket. There were different styles and among them was a dress that looked liked it had been pulled straight out of a Princess Wedding Collection. She didn't know what kind of outfits or photos Dana wanted to do so she brought a little bit of everything. All of the dresses she had brought had fit into a pull along suitcase except the one reminiscent of the Princess Wedding Collection that was in a travel bag to keep it safe.
"I still think you should wear that dress Dana," she said with a giggle, definitely implying the fluffiest dress she had brought.
