No, he's totally wrong. emotion_donotwant
For one, they don't have a lot of parent involvement, for two they're already well established in their lives (twilight is a student, presumably some type of higher education, rarity is a seamstress, pinkie pie at a bakery etc., rainbow dash as a hobo), and three they go around doing random stuff and aren't in school.
For them to be teenagers would be like, spongebob being a teenager; I mean they each have individual houses and everything, most people in ponyville at least live with other people. And they're all two story or more, twilight, fluttershy; hell, fluttershy has a private room for the kid ponies and a bed in it.
What's up with dat?
Not to mention we never see the parents of rainbow dash and fluttershy, and never truly know if scootaloo is the sister of rainbow dash (I have a theory that the military tradition is to isolate the children from the parents and raise them communally, in the flying place, since the flying people were like the military a long time ago, probs against dragons until magic got advanced enough to fight them off and enslave them, like we see with spike) so they have all kinds of weird stuff going on.
Since they're pretty much on their own I assume that they are at least in their 20's. Also, the great pony wars killed most the men and middle aged people, which is why you have kids/20 something ponies and old ponies/rich ponies.

But they don't know their siblings, because all family relations are cut when they're raised communally by the state! Also I think there's more than one rainbow colored pony in ponyville so hair doesn't necessarily mean relation, just look at rarity.

Also, on a more sirsz note, that could be her brother, a cousin, or just a pony that looks like her.
Maybe that hairstyle was in at the time.
A lot of wonderbolts and higher up people, such as the wonderbolt academy drill instructor for most of the episode, have crazy hair, which further indicates they may dye their hair, in an attempt to express how awesome or crazy they are.
On the other hand, if we look at twilight and her parents and brother, or Applejack and Big Mac, or Pinkie Pie's family, or the more recent Children of Mr. and Misses cake, they pretty much don't look alike at all.
It could suggest a familial relation, or it could just be random, sort of like how Derpy's eyes were to begin with.
I don't exactly know how the colors work in the show, but it just seems to be random more than anything, maybe they're able to dye their coat or something, idk.

So I actually watched Equestria girls, a decent version of it... it was okay.
Not that bad. But too much singing that wasn't really good, and I already knew all the really funny parts from the trailer.
Over-all it wasn't that good but it wasn't bad.
It was slightly good. I guess. Some parts were pretty good, most of it was eh.
The show seems more and more like a caricature of itself; the characters were interesting because they were 3 dimensional multi faceted characters but now they seem more and more 2 dimensional, almost 1 dimensional; their execution is poor and the jokes aren't as good.
To begin with, the music was a key strong point in the series. So much so that remix cultures have sprang up just from this music. They were really good and while the show poked fun at itself for doing it they were actually pretty spectacular. Since they learned everyone actually liked the music, they've been ramping up the number of songs but they seem to get worse and worse, repetitive, bland, out of place even. It's just kind of sad.
But it was okay.
Obviously human ponies who aren't the real sames are going to be a little bit silly and over done and whatnot. Overall the plot wasn't very complex and there were a few moments that were somewhat disturbing but it was okay. Hopefully this doesn't become one giant wank fest. Not gonna point any fingers but... you know who you are.
The music in the trailers were really good, but I never saw them in the movie.
And the remixed song in the beginning was interesting to say the least (and a nod towards the fans) but also really bad.

Equestria Girls, to me, was just one big fan service episode. (Like every other cartoon with animal protagonists that answer the "what if humans" question.) It was just okay cuz it didn't give the same vibe as the show. lol (Maybe cuz it was too "girly-teen movie aimed at young, pre-middleschool girls"? x.x)
