A cold breeze swept down the street, picking a few leaves off the trees and sending them scuttling down the sidewalk and street. The leaves had just started to change color, a sure sign of two things. The coming of fall and the start of the school year.
Soren walked casually down the sidewalk, on his way to the first day of his last year of school, and what was to be his busiest year. Along with having his first day of school today was also the first day of his new job. Nothing fancy, just an unloader and stocker at a local market. But with the recent passing of his father he needed to have some way to pay the bills. His mother had offered to have him move in with herself and his sister, but they already had enough on their plate...
His train of thought was interrupted by the calling of his name. He glanced behind him and saw his sister catching up to him. He stopped and waited for her to catch up.
"Hey Seri."
His sister embraced him in a tight hug.
"Hey Sor. How have you been? Mom's been worried." "I told her I'd be fine. My new landlord was understanding of my situation and allowed me to pay this month's rent when I get paid." "She told me to tell you to come home, and that we have a room for you."
Soren laughed.
"What room? It's a tiny two bedroom." "Well, we'd share one."
Soren smiled at his sister and shook his head.
"I appreciate it, really I do. But I couldn't make you two sacrifice that much. If I were to move into that room it would barely hold both beds. And what about all your stuff."
Seriana got quiet.
"I was going to sell it... We could always use the extra money."
Soren stopped and put his hand on his sister's shoulder.
"And I can't ask you to do that. Mom's been getting better and you two are doing fine. Enjoy what you have and help her get better. I'll be fine, believe me."
His sister smiled and hugged him again.
"Ok, I'll try to convince Mom that you'll be fine."
Soren smiled and started walking again, taking his sister's hand.
"Come on, we're almost there."

The long break was over and a new school year would begin. And she had to get back into character...which was proving slightly difficult since she had come back from a trip to Seoul not too long ago to help settle some family matters.
Least to say things did not go her way and now she would have to live with the consequences.
She slipped out of bed and after a quick shower she made herself a simple breakfast before making herself a packed lunch. The young woman was perfect in nearly everything she did. The food looked beautiful and was perfectly seasoned, her apartment- though medium in size- was clean and was fully furnished. The girl came from a well off family and some of the things within the apartment reflected that, while other things seemed to also show her independence from her family's influence. She worked hard and studied hard to support herself and considers herself lucky compared to others.
Something which she had to constantly remind herself, for more times then note she considered herself unlucky and hated what her family was.
Luckily enough she could hide all of that and lived her life as Saiyori Mihari. The class president and over all miss perfect of Gakko High. or was miss perfect until she had missed all of the third year. She was uncertain if her status would still hold after such a hiatus. The rumor going around was she had to go back to Korea for a year do to family issues, and during that year she had attended a school there as so not to be held back a year upon her return.
A year was long enough to change things when it came to high school life, and she could only hope not much had changed. She had missed the simple and delicate life she live here before returning home for a year.
once lunch was backed and she was dressed in her school uniform. She finished loading her bag with needed materials for the first day and made her way out the door.
Dispite making enough money to keep such a nice apartment, she didn't drive to school. She walked. And on particularly tired days, she would take the bus.
As she walked to school she let her mind wander, " I wonder...if I could rejoin the archery team this year...Wonder if my skills have gotten rusty of this past year..."

Isamu's day began like most others these last few months; a slow crawl from darkness into the light. No matter how hard she tried, she always seemed to wake up before daybreak and it was getting on her nerves. She had not bothered to set her alarm clock in months. Laying in bed, Isamu stared at the dark ceiling of her apartment. Frustrated by the fact that she didn't need to be up for a couple hours, a sigh escaped her lips before attempting to resume her sleep, futilely trying to quell random thoughts stuck in her head. After about 20 minutes, she rose from the bed, mildly angry at herself.
Despite her early morning insomnia, her shower was a welcome ritual, the warm water comforting her and finally drawing out some semblance of relaxation. Isamu wasn't the most organized person on the planet, and it showed quite obviously in the decor and state of clutter in the apartment itself.
She has lived on her own since coming to Gakko High School, a transplant from Sapporo to Tokyo. She adjusted well, but even then sometimes she still missed the little things about being back home. They still don't know how to make a proper bowl of ramen down here. The though caused her to smirk as she started making her breakfast and corresponding lunch for the day. Ugh, I'll have to make a market run today. The pickings for her meals were a little thin, resorting to some simple buttered toast and tea for her breakfast, and assembling a simple bento of white rice and yesterday's tempura. At least she had one remaining strawberry ramune to accompany her bento.
With her meals done, she set down to watch a little TV, but god knows there was nothing interesting on at this hour. News channels were a complete turn-off but at least she found a movie that was somewhat tolerable. Her cell, perched in the arm of the couch, buzzed briefly, indicating a new text. Reading it briefly she quickly typed "Piss off." and tossed it next to her school bag.
After zoning on her couch for more than an hour, she casually dressed into her uniform and assembled the remaining school books before heading out the door.
It was only a 4 block hike to school from her apartment, so she saw no need to set out any more than 20 minutes before 1st bell. She was hardly a conscientious student, she did what she had to and kept pace within the top three of her class. She had once been a sponge for knowledge, always pushing herself to achieve more and hoped at some point to reconnect with that part of herself.
As she reached the entrance of the school grounds, she knew she was being followed. Isamu paid little attention to this follower, knowing full well who it was; she wasn't about to make a scene on her first day back at school nor have it ruin her day. It will simply be dealt with after school.

*With birds singing and flying against the blue sky as well as the twirl of the autumn winds, it could only mean one thing: Today was the first day of school. In the Takada household, excitement was everywhere. A young blonde girl couldn't even sleep for the amount of excitement she felt for going into school. She was a 1st year; fresh to the world of high school. She wanted her first day to be absolutely perfect*
*She was up before her alarm clock and was already getting dressed in the uniform. Once she was dressed, she went downstairs to enjoy breakfast with her parents*
"Morning, Saiya."
"Good morning, Mom."
"Hey there's my little girl. Excited to be going into high school?"
"Of course, Dad! I'm so excited that I couldn't sleep at all last night. I'm going to do my very best while I'm there."
*Both parents were glad to see their daughter excited for her first day. Now to get up their son. Ai walked over to the staircase and called up to the boy*
"Yousei! Time to get up! You have to walk with Saiya now!"
"Awww. Alright, I'm up."
*The blue-haired boy grumbled and moaned as he got out of bed. He headed to the bathroom to clean himself up and style his hair. It took a few minutes to make it look bed head-ish, but that was his style. He put on his school uniform and slid down the rail of the staircase to meet his family*
"Morning all."
"Hey, Yousei. Are we gonna get better grades this year?"
"Yes, Sir. Leave it to me, I'll give it my best shot."
"Ha! Yeah right. You're probably gonna end up in summer school again this year too."
*Yousei could only growl at his younger sister for the comment. He had to spend a majority of his summer studying, but he felt like it changed him for the better*
"That was the old me, Saiya. I'm a 2nd year now. School work comes first."
"Now that's what I like to hear. Good luck to you, son."
*The boy then sat at the table and joined his family for breakfast. Once they had their fill, the siblings grabbed their respective lunches and were out the door. Yousei would have rather skated to school, but since Saiya was new he had to walk her for at least the first week. That was the deal. The blonde girl couldn't be any happier as they made their way to the school gates*
------------
*A hand hit an alarm clock after the first few rings. The figure then rose out of bed with a yawn and went to clean himself. Once he was out of the shower, he went about getting dressed and grabbing something to eat for breakfast, as well as making himself a boxed lunch. Before leaving for school, he took a look at an old newspaper that was on the table. The headline displayed an exploding plane on the front cover. All he could do was wince at the image before grabbing his bag and leaving the house*
*He walked with a purpose; no step was wasted. His gaze was focused and his long, black hair flowed in the gentle fall breeze. This was 3rd year student, Saito Kurosaki*

The alarm rings loud as Jacob just put the pillow over his head. He was in no mood to wake up.He was still trying to recover from jet lag. He slamed the snooze button on the alarm clock to shut it up. Now that the beeping stop he could get back to sleep....or so he thought. It was then he felt some one land right on his gut.
????: I said get the heck up!
Jacob: Dammit Aya! What the he-
Aya: *puts finger over his mouth* Just get up. It's time for school.
The girl then smiled and got off of him. She was Aya, his cousin that he was staying with. At school she seems to be somewhat of an idol at school but at home, she was a completly different person. Well at least toward him. He sluggeshly got out of bed and looked up at his new school uniform.
Jacob: Damn school uniforms....
After putting on his uniform and grabbing his backpack he meet up with Aya downstairs. His Uncle Hayete, Aya's dad, had already left for work. He grab a thing of toast and the bento Aya made for him and made his way to the door were Aya was waiting for him. He really wasn't all big on being on time for school but knew Aya wouldn't allow him being late. The lived a few blocks away so it wasn't a long walk to Gakko High. He still thought it was bit of a funny name. As they got closer he noticed the looks he was getting. The girls a bit shocked and the guys glared. They must have though he was her boyfriend or somthing. Thi made him chuckle. He also took note of Aya's 'change'. She was so polite and proper to people. It was an Aya he hadn't seen since they was very very little. It seem she was indeed popular.

The alarm sprang to life in an attempt to remind a certain student, it's time to get up. That student, was Andrei Nishimura. It's time for him to start his third year of school. Ah, but this wasn't just a start of a new year for Andrei, it was the start of an entirely new life for him. Today would be his first day going to school in an entirely new country. However, that does not mean he was looking forward to it, nor does that mean he was nervous. No, it was more of dread. It wasn't long before that feeling of dread crept up on him. But, that wasn't all that crept up on him. Before he knew it, there was a body on top of him. He already knew who it was, and as he looked up he didn't expect any less that his little sister Kiyomi jumping on him to wake up.
"Gah! Morning, sis."
Kiyomi shot a smile towards Andrei's way, a smile that could outshine the sun. However, Andrei saw something different. He could already hear the thunderstorms, topped with an evil maniacal laugh in his head, and that smile to him was nothing more than grin that death itself would fear. Kiyomi just kept smiling as she wished her brother a good morning.
"Good morning, Onii-kun!!!"
Andrei understood her good morning, but anything after that was complete gibberish.
"Onii-kun? Where did you learn to speak nonsense like that?"
"Nonsense!? It's Japanese for big brother, you baka!"
Kiyomi was quick to defend her use of Japanese, but Andrei grew more annoyed as she continued to speak more nonsense.
"Uh...huh...I'm not even going to ask what 'baka' means. I just want to get this day over with."
"Well, it takes a baka to not know what 'baka' means, you baka!"
Andrei sighed as he forced himself out of bed, and made his way towards the bathroom. Kiyomi left to her own bathroom, as it was her first day too. Her first day in high school, in fact. After they had showered, put on their uniform, and got ready for school, they met downstairs in the kitchen for breakfast. The siblings glared at each other, but neither of them said a word. The parents on the other hand were used to their childrens' routines after many years. Soon after breakfast, it was time for school. The two said goodbye to their parents, and left for their first day.
The sun greeted the two, the grass danced, and the cars whistled a tune as they shot by. Andrei's emotionless face hid his annoyance for everything around him. He missed Russia, he was happy there. Now, he's not used to the new city. He's not used to his surroundings, but he was forced to get used to it, and that made him miserable. Kiyomi on the other hand, she couldn't be happier. She enjoyed the beautiful sights of her new home. There was nothing about this place that she couldn't love. She was a happy girl, and that happiness shined off her. She skipped through the streets with her brother, as the wind danced with her. Kiyomi was the light that made the sun look dark. Andrei, however, was the opposite. There's only so much that his emotionless face could show. He hid his sadness well. He could not help but become homesick.

Soren looked over at Seriana and smiled. She was humming an old song their mother used to sing to them when they were young and mad at each other. Thinking back to how they used to be it was surprising how close they had become, but when their mother had taken ill they had both worked hard to help her. And now their father had died... The two of them had been supporting each other a lot lately. She looked over at him and gave him a quizzical look.
"What's on your mind?" "Oh nothing. Just thinking..."
Seriana looked at the ground.
"Dad?" "Yeah, but lets not dwell on it. Just focus on having a good first day."
The siblings looked at each other and smiled and Seriana nodded. It wasn't long after that that they reached the school grounds. They both looked around to see if anyone they knew had arrived. There was still some time before the first bell and small groups were already forming. Soren glanced to his left and saw Saiyori walking toward the school.
"Huh, Saiyori's back... I wonder if she's gonna make another push for class president."
Soren had always found Saiyori interesting. She seemed perfect in all she did in her academics and socially. He had never really gotten to know her personally but he had had a couple of classes with her. She got good grades and always seemed to be well liked by the majority of people. He had always wondered what her weakness was, there had to be a way in which she wasn't perfect. Plus he thought she was cute. Seriana looked over at her brother and sighed. Shaking her head she lightly punched him in the side.
"Why don'tcha go talk to her."
She looked over and saw Aya walking up with someone else. She waved before turning back to her brother.
"I'll see you later. Have a good day."
Soren smiled at his sister and wished her a good day as well before she ran over to Aya. He took a deep breath and looked back over to Saiyori. He was fairly confident in most of the things he did, but talking to girls... well that area wasn't exactly his forte. As she passed he finally forced himself to speak up.
"Hey Saiyori, welcome back."

...I wonder if I'll have enough time after classes today to walk to work rather then go by bus...if classes are dismissed slightly early do to it being the first day, i probably could..
She thought quietly to herself as she continued to walk down the street, undisturbed by the passing of cars on the street and people on the sidewalk.
First week will be crazy for the clubs at school..all those people tossing flyers at you, asking you to become apart of their club...I'll have to quickly join what I want and avoid the havoc..
She still got nightmares of mass mobs of people rushing at her with paper in their hands during her first year. She had NO idea clubs were such a big issue here in these Japan schools. It was an amusing and frighting thing to think back on.
Saiyori soon enough turned one last time and could see the school gate entrance just ahead, and having only been greeted by one or two students along the way made her wonder if she had really been so easily forgotten? Then again it was quite possible. School was like that, friendships and social circles change constantly, and it's more then easy for one or two to go missing without any impact to the bunch. The only place that probably impacted her absence was the Archery Club for she had been one of their star members, despite only being a second grader at the time. She hung out with a lot of different types, and seemed to have her foot in everything while at the same time never fully commiting herself to one thing, always being far more busy with life outside of school activities. She was after all living on her own in this country. no one to count on.
As much as Saiyori told herself it was good that her disappearance of a year didn't draw an impact on the thing here, in general, she was at the same time slightly disappointed, as if a part of her had hoped for someone who had missed her, who had considered her a friend a year ago and was happy to see her back. As much as many knew her back then, she never really got close enough to anyone to hand out her cell number or even bring them over to her place. The only exceptions had been the seniors in the Archery Club, who by now have graduated and have long forgotten any ties they may of had to the younger ones at school.
It was then she heard her name as she was being greeted by someone. Her eyes glancing over to see who was the one who could of possibly of remembered her. She quickly flashed him a soft smile and bowed her head likely in greeting. Taking this short time to try and remember this guy's name, he had been in a couple of her classes before, and she had made it her mission each year to be able to recognize each of her classmate's faces and names (and even tot he point of knowing their addresses) just in case she ran into them outside of school.
"Ah. Hello..Soren..right?" She chuckled softly, " I'm surprised someone remembered me, I figured I'd be long forgotten after my year long absence."
She was inwardly embarrassed at how happy she was from the simple fact at least one random classmate remembered her.

Soren smiled at Saiyori and chuckled.
"Well when one of your competitors for the top of the class isn't around you tend to notice."
Soren had a unique talent when it came to school. He never really took school seriously and really didn't put any effort into it yet he somehow was able to stay near the top of his class. He was just good at school. He had some writing talent which made papers easy and he was great at test taking. Unless it involved math. Math... Math was his bane. He was a straight A student in every other class, but a straight C in math. That's why this year he would be taking a business math class instead of regular math. In truth he didn't care about being at the top of his class at all, but it was a talking point. That's when he remembered that she had been on the archery team.
"You were on the archery team right? Think you'll rejoin?"

She only offered him a smile when he spoke of the reason he noticed her absence. She didn't even realize he was one of the top students In reality she could care less about who was the best academically other then herself. If her scores weren't pretty high, she wasn't satisfied. When it came time every year to look up the test scores of the board the publish publicly on the bulletin board in the main lobby of the school, she only ever looked for her name and score. Academics wasn't some race to her.
It was then he went on and brought up Archery. She found ti curious that he even remembered that about her. Once more offering a considerate smile and gave a nod.
"Yes, so as long as the team isn't full, I plan on joining. It's a sport I enjoy and it doesn't involve me running about, so yea." She chuckled softly.
"Umm.. you're not into any sport are you? Any particular club that's caught your eye this year?" She decided to try and turn the conversation towards him, she didn't like ti when she was the one being talked about, it always made her feel like she had to give up information about herself that she otherwise wouldn't.

Soren chuckled when she mentioned archery not involving running as he also hated to run, to the point that he would skip gym classes on days when they'd have to run. Luckily he had made friends with the computer teacher who didn't mind if Soren came in for extra classes.
And now Saiyori had turned the questioning back on him. He also hated talking about himself. Not that he was hiding anything but he just found it awkward to talk about himself.
"Uh, no not really. I'm not big on extra curricular activities, plus this year I don't really have the spare time. You?"

She really wasn't sure about this guy. Perhaps it had been a mistake to let the conversation last longer then a general hello. The guy was good at grades, was alright socially, and hated sports- or how he put it 'extra curricular activities' which could even branch out into general clubs. What was he? one of those go home after school types who then just played video's on their computer all day?
She may not enjoy running, but she was good at it, and in fact enjoyed physical sports. it' helped keep her body in shape and well.. it helped to stay fit when it came to family matters.
Saiyori gave him another smile and a nod, " No matter how busy I am, I always make sure to make the time to enjoy the things I love. No matter how busy i get. t may be the very reason i usually get so little sleep during the week" She chuckled.
She pulled out her cell phoen and checked the time and looked back up to him, " well i really need to get going, find out where my locker is and what homeroom I have. I only just recently re-registered to this school, so i still have a few things to take care of. I'll see you around I suppose? Later, Soren." And with a slight bow of her head, she left to quickly enter the school and take care of what she needed to take care of before the bell rang.

An alarm clock started it's loud beeping that caused the girl to jolt out of bed, throwing crumpled tissues everywhere. There soon was a knock on door followed by a male voice. "Kairi?" It took a moment for Kairi to realize what was going on. She was getting over a cold so her mind was still a bit fuzzy. Reaching over, she shut off the clock and called to the voice to come in. The door then opened and her uncle walked in. "Hey, kiddo. How are you feeling?" Glen said with a fatherly smile as he placed his hand on Kairi's forehead to check for fever. It had been a few days since she had the last fevor and she had began eating solid foods all of yesterday and the night before. "I'm fine," Kairi said with a soft smile. She was indeed feeling better than she has been for the past week.
After checking her tempature to make sure the fevor hadn't returned, Glen gave her the morning dose of cold meds before rubbing the top of her head. "You know you can skip today if you're not feeling up to par, right?" Kairi just gave him a glare that made the man laugh. His niece was never the type to miss school for anything. She actually enjoyed it, even though she had very few friends that she had met on the track or those that approached her while she minded her own bussiness at a corner table, reading a book. But, even so, she charished them and was missing them since their summer vacation was cut short due to her coming down since. So there was no way she'd miss the first day of school. "I'm just letting you know. Come down for breakfeast when you're ready." With that, Glen left the room.
When her uncle left, Kairi got out of bed, but swayed immediately after, getting light headed from moving too quickly. Once it passed, the girl went into the bathroom to get cleaned up. After 45 minutes, she came out dressed in her school uniform. She was annoyed at how long it took to get all of the week's of neglect out of her badge-blonde streaked, silver hair.
It wasnt long until she ad gathered her books, ate breakfeast, grabbed her lunch and left for school. She then hurried down the sidewalk as fast as her body would allow, hoping she would make it before first bell. Luckly for her, she didn't live too far from school and she reached the gate a little while later. Needing to catch her breath and let the light headedness subside, Kairi braced herself against the gate "Good... I made it.... before the bell."

As Jacob and Aya walked up to the gates of the school they were greeted by one of Aya's friends Seriana. Aya smiled warmly at the girl as she aproched.
Aya - Morning Seriana. How are you do today?
Aya knew that Seriana of all people would like to know why Aya was walking to school with a tall, dark and handsom guy. But before the girl could really ask her question, they both herd panting coming from behind them. They looked behind them to see Kairi had made it to school.
Aya - Kairi? Didn't you have a fever the last time we saw you? Are you feeling better?
Aya remember when Kairi collasped at a track meet because of her fever. Aya didn't know her as well as Seriana but she was a friend none the less. Kairi seemed to be the type the would overwork herself at times. All the while Jacob watch quietly yawning at times. After finding out that she was, or at least that what she is claiming, the question about Jacob soon came up, but not just from Seriana but Kairi as well. Aya giggled a bit seeing how she could only imagin what the two had to be thinking.
Aya - Calm down you two, he's not my boyfriend. This is my cousin Jacob from America. He tranfered her and is stay with me and daddy.
Jacob looked at the girls and gave them both a nod. It was apparent that he wasn't too big on school, or at least he'd rather finish his sleep first. Aya still smile turn to Jacob and spoke again.
Aya - He may not look like it, but his grades are that bad, plus he'll be our secrete weapon this year in track. He's a very talented High and Long jumper.
Jacob shot a look at Aya. What was she talking about? He never agreed to run track. It was true that he was his old school's best jumper but he never agreed to do it here as well. He was about to say something untill he looked at Aya, who back was turned to her friends, and the almost sinester look on her face said he had no choice. He merly sighed and looked away.
Jacob - Yea, whatever.
Turning back to her friends Aya was back to her school self. She looked at Seriana and finally noticed her brother was not with her.
Aya - Seriana, where's Soren?
It was then she heard about him talking to Saiyori. Aya had to blink a few times to make sure she heard the girl right. Saiyori was back? Saiyori was a role model for Aya when she had first came to Gekko as a 1st year. And during her 2nd year is when Aya started to popular, when Saiyori was thought to have transferred. Aya wondered if Saiyori would even remember her? She looked down at her cell phone to check the time before looking back up to them.
Aya - Well it's about that time. I hope we are all in the same class again.
It was then out the corner of her eye did she see another one of their classmates, Isamu Arai. She didn't know much about her at all. She knew that she was really smart though. Aya was at the of their class and Isamu was close behind her, followed by Kairi and Seriana. She gave their follow classmate a wave, seeing if she would join them on their walk to check their classes.

Isamu recognized a few of her classmates, engaged in their small talk and greetings. She gave a simple nod of acknowledgement as she headed into the building. Isamu almost regretted the action, wanting to stop and at least say hello, but it was hard to get her feet wet in a social sense. This weird shyness was not like her at all, but as far as she was concerned, the apprehension was warranted.
After a quick locker trip, she made her way upstairs quickly approached by her kendo coach, asking her to consider joining up again this year. She told him she would thing about it and made her way to 3-B, her classroom. Wonder if I can handle it? No one was aware of her immediate past and she was content to keep it that way. It felt like eons ago since she enjoyed the sport, it was certainly a serious consideration.
