Heidi was feeling so much better. Her head didn't hurt, the world didn't spin, her nose didn't feel all clogged up and she wasn't coughing every two seconds. She felt awesome. She'd even gone for a jog without any prompting. Heck yes.
After a shower and a good breakfast..lunch...brunch she had decided to pay Tuck a visit. Why not? He'd promised to take her shopping after they weren't sick anymore? The thought to text him to let him know she was stopping by did occur to her...for a moment. It was more fun to surprise him.
And that was why Heidi had started to playfully drag her nails down his door with exaggerated slowness, making sure to make lots of scraping noises. "Tuuuuuuuuuuuck.." she whispered, her voice raspy. She tried the door knob. "Tuuuuuuuuuuuuck..." If she was able to get the door in she would open it enough to peek in and find Tuck, if not she would just keep bothering him until he answered. It was up to Tuck.

Tuck had been feeling a lot better for the past few days. No more cold symptoms, no runny nose, no aching body. It was a good thing, too, because he'd kept himself busy on the training field. Running. Weightlifting. Anything to keep his mind off of what was really bothering him. Tuck had almost forgotten what sleepless nights felt like.
Almost.
He'd always been able to tolerate the lack of sleep. Physical activity kept him from thinking about it - and then there'd been Nevada or Heidi to curl up with. When Tuck was alone, his brain couldn't stop, and if he finally found sleep he was tortured once more by the dream.
Without Nevada, without Heidi? He didn't sleep. It had really given him a lot of time to think about everything that Nevada had said. It had also given him a lot of time to feel frustrated.
What the ******** was he doing.
He'd always lived by a few rules. You don't ******** with taken women, and you don't ******** with virgins. And so the question remained.
What the ******** was he doing.
After a jog, an intense session on the training field, a cup of coffee and then an hour in the weight room, Tuck had gotten back to his room and immediately hit the showers. He was on his way back to his dorm when he saw Heidi talking to his door. The Moon watched her for a long time, a half-smile on his face.

The door opened and Heidi peeked in, a huge smile on her face. "Tuuuu...uhhh.." She blinked. Tuck? The door was pushed open all the way to get a better look into the room, her grin fell. Where was he? The grin turned into a pout and Heidi took her phone out. Text to Tuck =D! TUUUUCK! Where are you I wanna hang out and do stuff! The text sent off, Heidi wandered into the room in search of maybe a hint of where he'd been. That and to just sit on his bed and wait for him to return. Little did she know if she had just turned around she'd know he was already back.

The instant he saw her pull her phone out, Tuck was scrambling for his so that he could put it on silent. It was hard to fight the urge to laugh. ********, she was in his room. Tuck just stood there in the hallway and tried to figure out what to do next. < It is not so difficult, Theodore. Follow this Short Stack into the room. Then Theodore takes off his --> Tuck quietly choked and did his best to mentally block out Herryk. < -- shoes... Theodore should retrieve those thoughts from the disposal.> Gutter.< What?> Gutter. Not disposal.Herryk gave the notion that he was rolling his eyes. Hard. Still grinning, Tuck pulled out his phone and tapped out a response... ...even though he was standing just down the hallway from his room. Text to Heidi no can do, i won't be around for a while

Aw, man! Really? Heidi pouted again and sat cross legged in the middle of his bed. Fine. She'd just wait for him to come back. Text to Tuck ):! Why not? I guess I can just come back later and sleep over if you really can't hang out. She flopped over on his bed and held her phone above her head, sending off the text and waiting patiently for a reply back.

It was getting harder and harder not to laugh. He had the fleeting thought again, self-doubt about what he was doing with Heidi. Kissing, sleepovers. What the ******** was he doing? Why? It struck him, suddenly, the answer to that question. He was having fun. A good time. He was enjoying himself. It really was that simple - and there was no reason to dig deeper than that. Not yet - and maybe not ever. Leaning against the wall, Tuck tapped his phone against his chin before tapping out a reply. Text to Heidi super important mission. off island. could be months.

Oh yay! A quick response! Heidi's smile returned until she actually read the message. She squinted. No, that couldn't be true. Tuck wouldn't just go off on a mission for months and not at least send her a text about it beforehand. He was her friend, he wouldn't leave her without saying goodbye! There was just no way. She frowned. He was screwing with her. He was probably just doing something with his sister, or working out. Or he was just with a friend. Text to Tuck Oh okay. Try not to die and stuff. I'll just touch stuff in your room until you're back I guess. She sent the text off and looked around, and then she picked up her phone again. Text to Tuck You're lucky I'm not the kind of friend who threatens to lick three things and not tell you what it was.

At that point he let out a loud bark of laughter before clapping his hand over his mouth. Had she heard? It wasn't like he could hide anywhere if she had.
Pushing away from the wall, Tuck shuffle-jogged back to his dorm. He didn't bother to muffle his footsteps. There she was, sitting on his bed like she owned the place.
"I didn't have you fooled for a damn second, did I?"

Heidi heard a sudden bark of laughter and she sat up abruptly, half expecting another text. Instead she heard footsteps and her big smile returned, she had to hold back a squeal of delight when she saw him in the doorway. "Well, you did at first. But then you said you were off on a mission for months without saying goodbye first." Heidi pouted, tossing her phone aside and reaching out for Tuck without moving from her spot on the bed. She made grabby hands while she waited, wanting him to come cuddle with her.
"You said we could go shopping with our extra day~. Did you still want to do that?"

Tuck laughed and approached the bed, hands on his hips. He peered down at the blonde before making himself comfortable on the bed. In truth, he wasn't too eager to get back in bed after having spent a week of complete agony there, but Heidi was too goddamn adorable to pass up. "I'm glad you know that I'd never do nothin' like that to you," he laughed softly, scratching his jaw. "An' since we got some money an' an extra day off, I think we should get out and have fun. I know we was gonna go hiking or somethin', but if you'd rather go somewhere else and stay somewhere we could do that too. It's up to you, sweetheart."

When Tuck joined her she made a happy little noise and cuddled close against him, her arms around his middle and her head on his chest. It was true, being in bed sucked, but she liked being held by him. It did make her feel better to know she wasn't wrong in thinking Tuck wouldn't just ditch her without a proper goodbye.
Oh? A revision in plans? Heidi hummed, drumming her fingers against Tuck's chest while she considered her options. She did really want to go hiking and horseback riding, maybe even go to a beach somewhere, but the option to stay somewhere did sound pretty nice. She could go shopping another day..
Heidi blinked. "Sweetheart? That's a new one." She giggled and moved up to kiss Tuck's cheek. Hadn't he called her something else recently too? Her memory of the past week was too foggy to remember anything very well. "Ummm! Well..I really want to do something active. Lots of moving and stuff, y'know?" Heidi hummed. "We've been in bed for like a week it's time to go out and do something." She sat up enough to hover over Tuck with a smile, playfully tapping his nose with one finger. "I still want those two days next month, so I'm not going to take both days this month. I've got things I need to do on my extra day for that, so...just one day out this time."
Oh, but what if Tuck had other plans? Heidi paused. She really wanted to get a new dress for their next date, but she didn't want to do that in front of him. She wanted it to be a surprise...hm.
"If that's, y'know, okay with you."

She hadn't seemed upset when he'd called her sweetheart, but Tuck stopped that train of thought in its tracks. He wasn't even going to worry about it. On one hand he was a little hesitant in putting himself out there - but on the other hand, what did he have to lose? He was starting to feel like a giant ******** baby about all of it, and so Tuck just... stopped worrying. For now, at least. What had happened with Nevada had happened, and they were still friends if nothing else - and Tuck had to be okay with that. Friendzone ******** sucked, but he wasn't going to force himself if he was making s**t too complicated. The last thing he wanted to do was -- there he went again. Tuck cleared his throat. He decided to leave the sweetheart comment alone. "Still early, so we could get the hell out of here right now." He kissed her forehead and ran his finger down the bridge of her nose. "I could use a day to get some s**t done on my own." A day to clear his head would be nice. "Will it take you long to get ready?"

Heidi lowered herself onto her elbows as Tuck kissed her forehead, giggling and scrunching up her face when he touched her nose. It tickled. She kissed his finger before he brought his hand away. "Then let's go! Are we going to the park?" She grinned at his question. You should know better by now, Tuck! "It never takes me long to get ready." Only if she had to be formal. Heidi always dressed casually anyway, and casual pretty much worked for anything Heidi enjoyed doing. "I can pack us a lunch, like a picnic or something. Other than that I'm good to go!" And then she paused. "But it's been like a week since I kissed you, I kinda really, really want one." Heidi smiled. "A really good one." Stupid cold, making her miss out on Tuck's kisses.

"Yeah. Yellowstone, Redwoods, whatever you want. You can pack us up somethin' or we can stop somewhere and get stuff, however you wanna do it." On the topic of kisses, Tuck hesitated. What was a really good kiss? Rather, what was a really good kiss as far as Heidi was concerned? What he considered a good kiss and what Heidi considered a good kiss were probably two completely different things -- < Theodore is being far too thoughtful as of late.> No, I ain't, I'm just --< Theodore. Just kiss Heidi.> Tuck exhaled softly before leaning forward to press his lips to Heidi's. The kiss was simple and soft, lips to lips and nothing more. It was a really good kiss, if not a little boring.

"Hmm..yeah, let's stop for food. That'll be easier, I think."Heidi was surprised by Tuck's hesitation. She had been about to just kiss him herself until she finally felt his lips against hers, closing her eyes and smiling against Tuck's lips. Hm...this..wasn't quite what she'd asked for. This kiss was nice, yeah..it was nice. She broke away from the kiss to put her forehead against Tuck's. She couldn't just say 'that was nice', it could come off as rude. The last thing Heidi wanted to do was upset Tuck. She kissed him again. "Is that all I'm getting?" Heidi asked innocently before she kissed him one more time. Kiss me, damn you. "I was thinking more, like, y'know...something mindblowing. Something like oh god I haven't kissed you for a week a whole week if I don't make up for lost time I might die let me show you the world, Heidi." She blinked. The kiss was nice, but it wasn't what she'd meant by really good. Heidi moved off Tuck to sit up again, looking somewhat surprised by Tuck's gentleness. She liked it! She did! Don't get her wrong but..well...she kind of wanted that.
