Grrel was lurking about Ayr again, searching for small and wounded Ayrala Dragons to ambush. She detested this style of fighting, but what else could she do? She couldn’t seem to beat dragons lately. What was wrong with her? She was strong, she knew that, but she seemed to have a lot more difficulty in fighting than Kadryn did... Maybe she needed to just train and train… Shaman Toki told her that genius only took one so far, it was practice that made one a Master.
She sighed, practice it was then. Maybe she should head to Serenia and practice against Ysali’s there? She growled, No! That would be running away! If she ever wanted to be strong enough to free her nephew and stop other egg thieves, she would need more power! More skill, more strength... more experience. Her eyes narrowed as she spotted an Aryala swooping nearby. It wasn’t large, but neither was it small either... Oh well. She would just throw herself into these fights and get stronger, try out new tactics and magics and eventually she’d kill them! Growling softly, she gathered up the power within her and cast two spells; her favorite which caused the lighting to gather along her scales and shock anything that hit her, and a large and concentrated shaft of sparking power. Snarling to herself, she loosed the bolt of lightning. Its passage was heralded by the shattering boom of thunder as it flashed towards her opponent, followed closely by Grrel herself. It hit and the Ayrala shriek with pain and then roared again when Grrel hit and latched onto its neck. She ripped and shredded at the softer neck muscles, unaware that the mate of the Dragon she was biting had come in response to the pain filled cry. The Ayrala was weakening, Grrel could feel it, joy filled her, finally! But as she prepared another bolt, she felt the approach of something behind her. No! Why did this always happen to her! Why did these stupid Ayrala’s go about in groups?! She didn’t want to relinquish her grip upon her preys throat, but if she didn’t she’d be bitten next… She let go just in time, and flew straight up and loosed another bolt at the wounded Dragon, hoping to kill it off and then focus on the other Dragon. She roared her rage as the new dragon threw itself into the bolts path, protecting his mate. Filthy stupid Dragons! Why wouldn’t they just die!? Grrel snarled and swooped back in with a roar. Who cared about winning, she’d make these stupid dumb beasts hurt for all the pain she’d gone through these past few weeks!

She fought tooth and claw with the larger Ayrala. Its mate had crawled away alive, leaving Grrel without an orb or a kill for her troubles. She took her anger out on the Ayrala, but she could feel herself weakening. She’d used too much magic in that first bolt and it was draining to keep up her static armor. Unhappy and hurt, she through the last of her power into a single bolt and as it flickered and smashed across towards the dragon. Grrel flew off in the opposite direction as the other dragon shook off the pain and looked around for her. Ghosting back towards Serenia and her nice warm and dry cave, Grrel sulked. Kiandri’s, she’d been told, were supposed to be good against Ayrala’s... so why couldn’t she kill one?! As she was flying back, she kept a wary eye out for any dragons. She had depleted her magic for today and wasn’t sure she was up to another fight. Perhaps she should stick to Ysali’s until she got more power and magic to use against the Ayrala’s….
