Daesat had sent Xenosa on her own for the first time against a Ysali dragon, not only had she said she was thrusting Xen into the real world, she was preparing her for the worst. Xenosa did not see it that way, sure they had begun seeing progress as she worked with the knives, but that didn’t mean she was ready for a freakin dragon! There had been no way around it though, DAe was nice but she was strict and there would be no amount of complaining of angry huffs that would make her change her mind on the subject.
It didn’t take long for Xenosa to find herself a Ysali, perched above a tree it was easy to spot the dragons sleeping about. One of her hands slipped into the folds of her clothing where she kept some of her knives and she clasped it hard. Dae had not provided a strategy beyond teaching her the different dragons and their uses, so Xen was in the complete dark for this. It was harsh training she found, and wished that maybe she had stayed with her sheltered life after all. Taking a deep breath, Xen stared the sleeping beast down. She could do this.
Of course, the beast opened its eyes to stare up at the Orderite. She’d been caught and now she stared back at the dragon as sweated rolled down her face. She couldn’t do this, she wasn’t strong enough yet. Jumping down towards the ground, Xenosa started running for her life. Daesat would not be happy with her if she did not bring back orbs, but right now she just could not go through with it. The Ysali never moved from its spot, watching the Orderite run away, it took one lazy yawn and went back to bath in the sunlight. Xenosa could not have been more embarrassed when she returned to Daesat.
