Sarvara hung back behind the treeline, peering out towards the beach with a curious apprehension. She had not been this close ever before, though she had heard whispers of strange meat and strange creatures that came from the great ocean. The water was foamy and smelly and undrinkable she had heard - and she could smell from here- but that didn't stop it from teaming with life.
You should go see, Migi purred into her ear. What could go wrong? You are strong, you could defeat any fish-beast that got in your way.
Haven't you ever heard the expression 'Curiosity killed the cat.' Hidari snapped back. Whats the point? No one will like you in that green water anyway.
Sarvara frowned, looking ahead over the horizon, through the stiff leaves of the palm trees. Maybe today wasn't a good day... it was so bright and warm, it made her feel uncomfortable. She turned to leave, weaving back through the rocky terrain.
Coward, the voices said in unison. ((note, Migi and Hidari, her tails, don't actually speak. They move and such, but the voices are in Sarvara's head and only she can hear them))

Having spent the morning away from the beach Aquitaine was eager to get home and see Agave. He had opted to stay home, saying something about checking security of their grove and the area beyond, something he did far too often, but Aquitaine allowed him to do so. She knew the beach was safe, there hadn't been anything bad happen since...well she honestly couldn't think of anything bad happening at any point of her life on the beach. But if it made Agave feel more at home then she would let him do far too many patrols of the beach and surrounding area and constantly think of new ways to keep them safe.
Having lived here her whole lie Aquitaine knew all the various ways to and from the beach and today she had traveled a bit further down before taking the rocky path down. She trotted confidently down the rocks and nearly ran into another Soquili. It was a growl from her dragon that had drawn her attention and let her stop in time. "Oh my, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there. I don't see many others on the beach." As her dragon continued a low rumble of a growl unhappy with this others presence Aquitaine got her first good look at the stranger. The mare seemed to have two tails and each had...a head on them? Yes, it seemed that they did. Others might have thought it strange but Aquitaine did not. Still knowing how her own hair dragon reacted to strangers she did not move any closer to the other mare in case those tails were protective of the one they were attached to.

Sarvara's reflex were good, and at the growl she whipped around quickly, taking a defensive stance with a hiss-like growl of her own. Her tails arched over her back like snakes ready to strike, and the fur on her neck and shoulders stood up on end and she gnashed her teeth in reflex.
It was by now, most other Soquili would have turned tail and fled, but this mare, instead, apologized. Sarvara's posture softened; her hair calming and her tails whipping down to a more passive position, though they still seemed "interested" in the conversation at hand.
She's a monster, like you, Migi hissed in her head. Look at that thing in her hair.
Kill it! countered Hidari. Before she kills you.
Sarvara tried to ignore the voices. She didn't speak up, and was very unfamiliar with her own voice. "Its okay," she said simply, taking the other mare in. She pawed at the ground in obvious nervousness

Those tails acted very similar to the way her dragon used to, and sometimes still did. They certainly seemed protective of the mare and it made Aquitaine wonder if all Soquili that had these certain traits had their oddities protect them from others. It was certainly something to consider at some other time, unless the mare was willing to talk about it, about them. Judging by the way the mare pawed at the ground...it was in this moment that Aquitaine noticed the mare also had paws. Paws usually meant purewalker, but there was no pelt on this mare, and while Aquitaine felt a tingle of fear run through her over the paws she did not flee or otherwise acknowledge that fear. In fact, if anything the mare didn't seem overly comfortable, she looked a bit nervous.
Her dragon finally brought his growling to a stop though his moth continued to open and close slowly as his glowing red eyes took in the mare and her lively tails. This was a sign that he was wary but didn't feel completely threatened by their presence.
"I'm Aquitaine." She said with a slight dip of her head. She thought it might be best to try to strike up some friendly conversation to help put the mare at ease. "We're you visiting the beach? It can be quite nice this time of year, though storms have a habit of blowing in quite quickly. I live down the beach a way." She motioned with her nose towards the left, though it was a pretty good walk still from here to the grove she shared with Agave. Part of her was glad that her mate was at home, he would be far too protective of her with this mare and Aquitaine thought that if she could reach out to this mare in any way, perhaps even help her, then Agave's presence would only interrupt that. She loved her mate with all her heart but sometimes his strange was of thinking and approaching situations, most of it the residual effects of his mothers brainwashing, were less than helpful.

Sarvara took her name to memory, but didn't respond right away. She was confused that the mare seemed so blase. What did that mean?
It's a trick, you stupid fool, HIidari said, snapping near Sarvara's ear. Kill her!
She closed her eyes and shook her head, willing the voices to go away.
If you leave now, maybe you won't embarrass yourself, Migi said. At least she doesn't think you a total freak....yet.
It was obvious to Aquitaine that there was some kind of internal battle going on inside her head. It took her a few minutes to respond, her purple dilating back and forth.
"Sarvara," she finally said. Her voice was a bit shaky, unsure. "I have never been to the beach," she mumbled, her ears flattening against her head. "I was looking."

Aquitaine waited patiently once more while the mare seemed to struggle to say something. It was clear to her that something was distracting the mare but Aquitaine couldn't quite put her hoof on it. She thought it might be the tails, after all her own dragon would often distract her or at least do things that would try to draw her attention to or away from something, but she wasn't sure if that was happening with the mare.
When finally the mare supplied her name Aquitaine smiled. "Savara, that's a beautiful name." And she meant it. Her gaze drifted in the direction of where the beach lay. "Would you like to go see the beach up close? I can show you some of it's hidden treasures." They were not in fact treasures, at least perhaps not to other Soquili, but to Aquitaine the water polished smooth rocks, the shells and others things that could be found on the beach were like treasures as they wee always different each day.
Her dragon let out a soft rumble and Aquitaine shook her head slightly. "You'll have to excuse him, he's not all that fond of the water." Which was a shame because Aquitaine loved to swim.

Sarvara looked back over Aquitaine's shoulder, towards where the beach was, contemplating.
She'll drown you!, HIidari warned. She wants to eliminate you. Cull you!
She sighed, her nature suspicious by default. She let her eyes wander over the strange mare again, trying to discern her motives for speaking with her; offering to help her.
Its so embarrassing when you act like a lost little filly, Migi critiqued. You shouldn't have to resort to -pity-.
Sarvara winced and turned to go, but stopped herself. "Why do you live on the beach?" she asked, eying the strange beast that seemed to live in (or made of) her own hair.

Aquitaine stood silently and patiently waiting for Sarvara to answer. It was clear the mare did not trust easily and Aquitaine could understand her hesitation to trust. After all it had taken Aquitaine a long time to adjust to the odd looks and comments thrown at her from others, but now she knew why they did those things. Understanding was the key to it all and fear was something nearly every beast in this land felt at one time or another. In fact, had it not been for her own experiences and strange looks she might have been frightened by Sarvara's appearance.
When it looked like Sarvara was going to leave without saying anything else Aquitaine felt a pang of sadness. She wanted to reach out and help Sarvara but knew thrusting it upon the other would only do the opposite. She could offer help if the mare seemed to truly want it, if she sought it out, and at this moment Sarvara was not ready for it yet. But then...she asked a question and Aquitaine smiled lightly.
"Well, my fathers family have lived on the beach for several generations. My mothers father didn't approve of her choices of a mate, my father had wind blood in him, she came to the beach to live with him away from the prejudice of her father. When my brothers and I were born, looking so much different that either of our parents, they knew the beach would remain our homes forever." She cast her gaze in the direction of the ocean for a moment before turning her attention back to Sarvara. "My grandfather, that's my mothers father, would kill me and my brothers if he ever found out about us. We are far from pure unicorn and he would not tolerate us sullying his bloodline. But that's now quite the reason why I still live on the beach." She said with a chuckle.
"The beach is peaceful, beautiful and I feel at home here. With my family living a bit further down the beach and my mate here as well I have found no reason to live and elsewhere." Aquitaine noticed Sarvara's eyes looking at her hair dragon more than once. "Of course he," she motioned to the dragon. "doesn't like the beach, actually the water more specifically. He hates getting wet but we have come to an understanding, I try not to get him wet and he doesn't take his anger out on me."

Sarvara listened raptly, her ears flicking every time one of her tails would snap and twine neat her face; though Aquitaine could not hear them, it did seem as if they were "talking" at their host.
She's a slave, Migi hissed. She lives in fear of her creature; a freak, just like you!
Put her out of her misery then, Hidari offered with a venomous tone. Throw water on her and see how it reacts!
"Peaceful..." Sarvara found herself saying, nearly involuntarily. She never had peace. The only times her constant voices were ever still was when she was hunting. Killing made them quiet, and that made her a vicious murderer.
No better than your skinwalker mother! Hidari was quick to remind her, knowing her thoughts.
"Can I see?" she finally asked. She found herself feeling bad; empathizing with the mare. But Sarvara didn't have the slightest clue how to express it. The only other Soquili she had spent a good amount of time with were a 'pack' of Skinwalkers, and they were hardly good company.

Aquitaine waited patiently once more to hear what Sarvara would say. She was beginning to wonder how much Sarvara was actually paying attention to what she was saying versus paying attention to those two tails of hers. It didn't matter to her in the end, Aquitaine knew how others attentions could wander due to various reasons and the fact that the mare seemed nice and interested in the beach was enough reason to keep talking with her. It would be even better if she could get the mare to open up and perhaps find out if those tails were an issue or not, but that was something Saravara would need to bring up.
She couldn't help but smile when Sarvara said that one single word. It had an almost wistful tone to it and Aquitaine wondered if the mare had led a tormented life before. That would surely give her a longing for peace, wouldn't it?
"Of course you can see it. The beach isn't far and this time of day the tide is out so there is a lot more sand to walk on and you'd be amazed by all the interesting things you can find that is often covered by water." Turning slightly Aquitaine began to pick her way down the rocks towards the beach. "This way." She called cheerfully over her shoulder, having no qualms about turning her back to the mare. It was in fact a sign of trust, something that in her younger days she might never have done.

Sarvara blinked her glowing yellow eyes as the mare turned her back on her. It was in her nature - a predator - to tense up. She felt the need rise in her chest, and her muscles flex under her dark pelt.
Kill her! Hidari demanded. Now is the time!
No, flee! her less violent, but still demeaning Migi commanded.
Sarvara closed her eyes, repressing the need to scream back at them. She had learned at an early age that not only does it do no good against her tormentors, it made other Soquili even more uneasy around her.
You will not silence us, Hidari hisssed angrily.
We know what you're thinking! Migi added.
Opening her eyes again, Sarvara mentally steeled herself and began to follow Aquitaine. She did her best to follow in her hoofsteps exactly, as not to slip on the rocks and cause a disturbance. Her paws made her moves nearly silent, though if she listened Aquitaine could hear her obi rustle in the breeze.

The mare moved so quietly that Aquitaine had to turn her ears back to listen to the soft sounds that her sash made. It was really the only indication that Sarvara was not only there but following her as well. As she made her way off of the rocks and onto the sand Aquitaine took a deep breath. Even from here one could smell in distinct scent of salt mixed with water and a number of unique smells that only the beach had.
The beach always had a calming effect on her, not that Aquitaine was nervous at the moment, but returning here after being away was more than just coming home, it was something special every time. With each step she took across the sand she could feel everything just slip away. This was, in her mind, possibly what Sarvara needed. The mare had been nice, but Aquitaine sensed that she was conflicted about something and perhaps being in such a serene setting would set the mare at peace.
Though her dragon hated water he tolerated her getting close to the water, mostly because the waves were small today and the wind light, thus no chance of getting hit with sea spray. Coming to a stop she turned and faced Sarvara. "Welcome to the beach!"

Savara paused when the rocks gave way to the soft, yielding sand. It felt strange under her paws, but not unpleasant. It gave way to her weight, and fills in the gaps between her pad.
Migi and Hidari hissed in her head, twining behind her in disgust. The texture was strange and alarming to them, and the strange spay in the air made most of the eyes on Sarvara's body (besides her two main eyes on her head) close.
Sarvara's predator nose took to the wind and inhaled. She taken aback by the sheer volume of new smells. She looked back to Aquitaine when she spoke to her. She didn't answer, but she did nod her head slightly in acknowledgement.
She looked off towards the waves of the water curiously, her ears flicking at the sounds it made as it broke on the shore. She hesitated, looking to Aquitaine for encouragement or permission.
