Ligeia pranced near the water on the shore of the Sandar lake. She loved taking long trips to the lake whenever she wasn't wandering around the forest. She wondered what her life would have been like if she had lived in water rather than on solid land. Tossing her mane, she gazed around the area to see if anyone was around. She had ran into a rather handsome stallion a while back and stayed with him for a few days but she grew bored of him rather easily. Hopefully she could find someone that would hold her attention for more than a week.

♞x x x xL o r dxxV a r i a nx x x x♞ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ x Varian dipped a multi-hued wing, kiting to the right to exit the thermal he had been riding over the lake. He had just returned four days ago from six months out on the road with the King's Army on their campaign against the Six, and he desperately needed the rest. His one-pristine coat was crossed with scars now, and his back right hip still ached and throbbed; even though the bone and joint had been repaired after being impaled with one of the Agent's horns, the Healers had told him it would never work as well as it once had. But Varian was thankful that he had escaped with his life, even though his body was scarred.
The great Web within his mind that connected to him to all Azrein on the Isle flared, a pinprick of light appearing to the east of him, somewhere along the beach. The High Deity adjusted his course and pressed his wings tightly to his flanks, dropping out of the sky in a controlled dive. He closed his eyes, reveling in the feel of the wind in his fur and mane as he accelerated, and when he was only twenty feet from the ground, the stallion snapped his wings open with an audible crack as feathers pressed against wind, backwinging twice to slow his dive into a stop. He hung vertically in the air and landed gracefully, kicking up a small shower of sand as all four hooves touched down on the beach. The stallion's blue gaze alighted on the cerulean and sea-green mare on the shore, and giving his head a shake to get his forelock out of his eyes, the golden bells on his antlers chiming gently, he trotted over to her, smiling warmly.
"Well-met, Ligeia. I am Varian, Son of Valdien, Bonded to Azreth Kestrel De'servian, First of his Name, Son of Vandrian, Commander of the Hands of the Crown, and King of the Floating Isle." The formalities out of the way, Varian noticed her surprise as he had spoken her name. "I am connected to all Azrein on the Isle -- as my Chosen is through me -- by the Spirit Web within my mind. I apologize if I startled you, My Lady." His words were lilting, melodic, a smooth tenor, and his azure gaze was kind.

Ligeia was a little shocked when another equine seemed to appear out of the sky in front of her. She took a few steps back and gazed at him wearily, wondering if he was going to attack her or not. She wasn't used to equine flying in the air and she was certain she would never get used to it at all in her lifetime. She pranced a few more steps before she calmed down and stood still.
She flicked her ears and gave him a shocked expression when she heard the stallion greet her with her name and then introduced himself. She lowered her gaze down so that she was looking at his hooves. She was in front of a high deity. She didn't know what to say to him for a few moments as she continued to listen to what he had to say. She bobbed her head a little bit as a kind gesture towards him. "Not much, m'lord," she said in a slightly soft voice. "I am not used to being greeted by the deities. They never seem to find my very interesting."

♞x x x xL o r dxxV a r i a nx x x x♞ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ x The stallion tilted his head to the side, his pearly-white antlers catching the light of the setting sun, making them look like liquid gold. It had been far too long since anyone had shown him deference, and it humbled him when the little mare averted her gaze. The Deity took a step forward, golden cloven hooves sinking into the sand as he extended his neck, tucking his nose under the mare's jaw and pushing up, making her lift her gaze before he took a step backwards, meeting her eyes with a kind smile.
"Though I appreciate your respect, it is not needed, Ligeia. I do not believe myself a higher being than normal Azrein, and I would prefer if you treated me as such, little one." The stallion flicked a long, elk-like ear absently. "And generally, us Deities have more solemn things on our minds than mingling with humans or our own kind; our responsibilities sadly keep us from socializing, much to our regret." Varian pivoted so he was standing beside her, nudging her flank with his wing. "Walk with me, if you will."
The two set off at a sedate walk along the shore, Varian walking half in the water of Sandar Lake to sooth his still-sore hooves. "Currently, however, I am enjoying a much-needed break from the War, and so I have some time on my hands that I wouldn't normally be graced with. I figured a nice fly would clear my head, and I was pleased to Sense you on the beach, so I hope I wasn't being too presumptuous in assuming you'd like some company, little one." The stallion glanced down at her out of the corner of his eye; he was easily a good foot taller than she was, as he was one of the tallest stallions on the Isle. "So tell me about yourself. Have you Chosen a human yet? And if not, do you feel the Call within your breast to do so?"

Ligeia winced slightly as she felt his nose push up her head under her chin. She was still in shock that he would approach someone as low class as her. She gazed at him for a few moments before gazing slightly away from him but she made it look like she was looking at him. She wasn't used to talking to deities and she didn't know what to do in this situation. At least he was being humble and allowed her to raise her head in his presence.
She nodded at his statement when he said that he didn't believe himself to be a higher being than someone as ordinary as herself. She flinched slightly when he touched her flank with one of her wings but she didn't shy away from him. She lowered her head a fraction of an inch but kept it at a reasonable height and walked beside him. It felt weird for her to be walking at the same pace as someone that she believed was of a higher authority than she was at that very moment.
She gazed at him when he told her that he was pleased to have Sensed her on the beach. She shook her head when he said that he hoped that he didn't assume that she wanted some company. "Not at all," she replied to him. "I often find myself alone most of the time and meeting new faces is something that I enjoy. That is whenever I do get around to actually meeting new faces. There are times were I go weeks without seeing another soul. I tend to wander around quite a bit and I don't run into many of our kind or any humans that often. I don't really have anyone to go to because I haven't really found the right human to bond to right now." She lowered her head for a few moments in shame. "Maybe there isn't a human that is the right match for me. Maybe I am destined to be alone for the rest of my life." She sighed slightly at her statement. Maybe she really didn't belong with a human afterall.
[ooc: sorry about the delay ^^;]
