Hania Shen hadn't been out in a long time. He had to make sure his herd was cared for an looked after. There hadn't been any issues so far, but you always had to be cautious. It's something he learned the older her would get and the more he would learn. The only thing keeping him going was his love for his family. If he didn't love them so much then he probably wouldn't have pursued starting a family herd. "Your father still misses you even though you both had a falling out with one another. I don't care either way since your both family there would be no way for me to pick any kind of side. It's just impossible." He told t he younger stallion walking beside him as he stepped over from brush and sighed. "I wonder if my daughter is hiding in that grove again.." He didn't like her being so alone and anti-social, but there was nothing he could do. He didn't want to force her into doing anything.
Flicking his long mane over his shoulder, he nosed the small graves as he passed by them saying a light prayer. Finally they reached the grove and he peeked out from behind a tree with his pupil-less eyes falling on the stallion there. At first he didn't know what to do because he had claws and paws? It was an odd sight and he was more afraid the other would attack him. He didn't say a word except for stare at the male. Now he was beginning to worry about his daughter. Where could she be if she wasn't here?
Zachariah rolled his eyes unsure if he even wanted to speak with his father again. That was the last person he wanted to see in all honesty. When they reached the small grove area, he eyed the stallion with a disgruntled look. He immediately got into his defensive stance and stepped in front of his uncle. He wouldn't outright attack the clawed stallion, but he was ready just in case the other decided he wanted to take a piece out of his hide. "Who are you?" This stallion was awfully close to the family's territory and it made him uneasy. His father would probably feel the same way. He had never met a harpy before, but he knew what they looked like thanks to his father always saying how much he hated them. "Are you friend or foe?" He asked straightening his form and stomping a hoof into the soft soil.

Mikasi'Nell had settled in for quite some time, the territory near the hidden grove had plenty of fresh meat..herbs an bugs for Rains song. At the sound of someone approaching he stood slowly, claws digging into the earth to steady himself so he didn't look like a complete fool. "I am Mikasi'Nell...you must be relatives of my friend Astraea. There is quite the family resemblance." Smiling carefully he bowed his head in greeting, looking as Rains Song flittered to chirp at both males. "Please do forgive me..she said it would be alright for us to stay here." Again he smiled..standing strong but, also trying to not be overly intimidating..which was hard. He had paws, claws..a wolf's tail and sharp canines. There were also a few pelts neatly baking in the sun to be traded or used for something Mikasi had planned as a gift to Astraea.

The stallion was caught off guard when the other mentioned his daughters name. Maybe it was a different mare? He wasn't one to judge anyone for anything except when it came to his sister, but he just couldn't believe his daughter had a friend. She had been a recluse for the past couple months, he didn't feel it was possible for her to venture outside. "You seem to know my daughter well enough to assume we are related to her." He said to the other with no emotion gleaming in his eyes or even in his words. It was a known fact that Hania didn't show any kind of emotions, but most strangers didn't know that. "A friend you say? I never thought my daughter would find a friend. She has been living like a hermit for the past months. ever since her sister went on her journey. She has been quite depressed and in her own world. She rarely even came around her own family during that time. So I am happy you have broken her out of that depression." He said to the other in a calm way before giving him a quick look over.
"Your not intruding. I simply haven't seen many with your...qualities around these parts in a long long time." He nodded to him as his white eyes looked over to the pelts hanging making him a little uneasy. "Your a skinner? That isn't an easy profession." He was doing what any father would do, sizing him up and making sure he was adequate even if they were only friends. He loved his daughter and wanted the best for her in every single way. "Forgive my manners...My name is Hania Shen and this is my second cousin Zachariah." He gave a formal nod and moved a little closer to Mikasi, stepping out from behind Zachariah since he was much larger then himself. "Do you know where my daughter is?" He asked.
Zachariah snorted and moved away from defending his cousin even though he really didn't want to move. He didn't think this stallion would attack, but even the most innocent could also be the most cruel. He wouldn't talk unless spoken to since Hania had more experience in the world then him and it also was his daughter. But he had to say something. He always had his hoof in his mouth in some way. "You didn't eat her did you?" He narrowed his eyes on Mikasi and gave another stomp of his hoof. He was trying not to judge the other, but he wasn't like Hania. He didn't like anyone that wasn't part of the family and it took awhile for anyone to get along with him or even be considered a friend to him. "I'm not trying to be an a**, but it seems odd for my cousin to speak to someone like you when our family is so against harpies and...wolves? Hell I don't know what you are nor do I care." He huffed.

Taken aback the males ears pinned back..one fang peeking out. Snorting lightly his gaze fell to the other younger first. "You seem nice enough. I am an ex harpy. I left my family an their ways far behind..I do not not had I ever dined on another's flesh. Rabbits and small game are all I eat..along with honey and berries. My father was a mutant not a monster like pures or walkers." Growling low he waved his nose around the grove "Do you smell her blood? I would no sooner kill my own flesh and blood than dare harm her.." He meant it..conviction clear in his eyes as he moved to straighten the pelts..to take a calming breath. "I have yet to see her today sir. I am a trader...these skins are just..my current project." Bowing his head once more he stepped to fiddle with his things for trade. Wary still of them. "She is lonely..it has been my honor to know her and keep her company." He lit up his world. Like the sun on a hot day..offering warmth and knowledge to him. Telling him stories, exploring with him. It was the greatest friendship he had ever had, the happiest he had been in so very long.

Hania Shen looked over to Zachariah and shook his head. "I cannot change what your father has made you think, but you will not judge anyone in my presence. I do not like anyone feeling uncomfortable." He said to the other stallion before focusing back on Mikasi. "I believe your words since even though you do eat meat, you wouldn't hurt something you are friends with. Especially since I noticed you have a bird companion with you, which is quite admirable." He spoke softly giving Rain Song a gentle nod. "I have a bird companion as well, but he isn't with me at this moment. He tends to go off and do his own thing." He told the other before listening more closely to him still wondering where his daughter could be. Maybe she was out wandering the forest like she sometimes did after rainy days or when she needed to get things off her mind. "Maybe she is wandering the forest. She does that from time to time." He watched the other walked over to his good and tilted his head.
"Trader eh? I could find some use in that, but not now maybe in the future." He wondered a little bit if the sage and lavender he received the one day was from this stallion's stock. It then made him wonder what she traded him for. He only hoped it was something reasonable. "I permit you to be such a friend to her. She needs it, but as you can see from this brute here..not all my family is welcoming to harpy blooded or even pawed Soquili. I on the other don't care as long as you are a nice individual. Since you seem to be...I don't see you as a threat." He told him giving a nod of approval before walking a little bit away from the clawed stallion.
Zachariah bit his tongue or he would have lashed out at his cousin. It wasn't something he really wanted or needed to do right now. Instead he focused on Mikasi and huffed. "How do I know you won't attack her one day? What if she gets injured or gets a cut or something? How will you control your thirst for blood?" He asked huffing before remembering he was lifeamted to a kalona who didn't even act like a kalona. Maybe he was being a little too harsh on the other? Sighing, he looked away and gave a gruff huff. "Look I'm sorry..My mate is a kalona/wind hybrid and she isn't a beast like a lot of kalona blooded are so I suppose...Though she is more wind I think...ugh I don't even know anymore. But I shouldn't judge you so harshly." He told the other looking over and nodding.
It was at that moment that a large spotted stallion stepped out from the trees narrowing his eyes on the clawed stallion. If looks could kill Mikasi would probably be dead right now. "I heard talking and an unknown voice so close to the herd territory I only assumed you were in danger." He said in a gruff harsh voice before looking over to Hania then Zach. The air was thick when he looked at his son since he hadn't seem him in a long time. He disowned him and never wanted to see him again, but it would always be impossible. Snorting at him, he looked back to the creature standing there watching. "I don't have time for aquinting myself with you, so I will keep this short. We do not allow your kind around these parts. Hania might have a different over view on this, but I will attack you on sight if I think your up to no good. You can trust me on that." He didn't like harpies and that was a known fact and he was quick to judge anything that.
"Oh I forgot to mention..Look who I found wandering around." With that he stepped aside and a young mare stood behind him.
The young mare looked at the situation all wide-eyed especially when she noticed Gabriel was talking about Mikasi in such a manner. She quickly brushed past the large stallion and stood in front of Mikasi with a expressionless face, but her eyes looked so sad. She couldn't express her emotions very well, but eyes could never lie. "I'm sorry you had to deal with this Mikasi...my family isn't as welcoming as I would have liked." She said to him looking down briefly, but then looking over to her three family members. "Why can't you just leave him alone? He is my friend and leave it at that. If you have a problem...then.." She paused and stood there between Mikasi and her family acting as a buffer. "Are you okay?" She looked over to Mikasi making sure he didn't have any injuries since Gabriel was in the area.

Mikasi tried to take in all the information and smile until things became very tense. His tail flickered angrily though his face remained as passive as possible. "I will be staying. As long as Astraea allows me to and desires my company. I would most certainly like to see you try and make me go." There was a faint spark of challenge in his eyes that vanished the moment Astraea drew near. Smiling gently he felt a small laugh escape. "It's okay..I've met judgmental and close minded soquili before..even in the flock there were those who feared the unknown. Who spoke cruelly to anyone not like them. I'm fine...especially since you are here." Grinning like a child he felt a bit alarmed when Rains Song fluffed up her feathers and dove to land a peck on the pompous stallion's head..right between his ears. "Rains Song! No..you know not to do such things!" The bird looked sad and flickered over to nest into Mikasi'Nell's feathery mane. Shaking his head the male gave Astraea a gentle nuzzle. "I've never met a kalona..but thank you. If she were hurt I would try to heal her with the herbs I collect..or find help." Steady and strong he stood unwavering before them, unafraid of their judgement or anger at his presence. "I will not leave. If you attack me for no reason I will defend myself as any soquili would. Just as I will defend my one and only friend..."

Zachariah shifted uncomfortably when his father came into the picture. With a side glance to him, he gave a snort in return before walking away from the whole situation even though he was conversing with the stallion. He really didn't want to be around his father and the sight of him made his blood go cold. The last thing he could remember from their fight, was being beaten down so badly he couldn't stand. Who would do that to their son? With a sigh, he vanished into the woods hoping his father didn't follow.
Gabriel felt the bird collide with his head and growled out low in his throat before stomping his hoof. "I will crush you bird in one swift kick." He narrowed his eyes on it before feeling a nudge from Hania making him calm down a little bit. "If you so much as hurt her I will make sure I break your bones" He gave a firm nod of confirmation before noticing his son drift away. He didn't know why, but he wanted to go after him and reason with him, but it wouldn't do any good. Looking back to the stallion, he shook his head seeing Astraea standing in front of him in a defending manner. If she wanted to cling to this stallion so much, she would let him for now. He was trying to be reasonable, but he couldn't have a man to man talk with the other two around. he couldn't even imagine what that conversation would be like.
"I do not hate you. I simply fear what you can do. We are a very tight nit herd and only just recently have we be expanding breed wise. We started out letting only a few breeds in. Now we let in some kalona. So if we allow you to be friends with her with no problem...then we would be permitting your kind as well." He sighed furrowing his brows before turning away. "I would have to speak with this stallion privately at some point. To understand his kind and why he chose his path. If he proves to be noble in his reasoning then..." He paused and looked to the mare. "I will not judge him further. I will accept him." This was different for Gabriel, but he always had to screen someone before accepting them into his realm.
Hania Shen listened to everything before he felt it was his turn to speak up, but he didn't do so right away. He watched the affection between the two and how they interacted with each other. He watched his daughter be so bold and stand before him as if to protect him from Gabriel's wrath. He felt so proud to be her father and at the same moment began to feel this was the dawning of a new day. He felt this was a change from the usual norm of the herd. All the younger generation was beginning to bring new breeds into the herd creating their own melting pot of sorts. He was happy truly happy to be part of such a family. He was probably the only one who thought like this since others seemed like they wanted nothing to do with it.
"Protect her..My daughter is young and can be naive at times. I see the way she protects you. Your friendship must be strong and I will do nothing to change that. Even if Gabriel disapproves I will make sure he doesn't harm either of you. But I do wish this of you Mikasi...that one day you take the opportunity to spend a little time with Gabriel here. Have a talk with him and let him know what you are all about. He is a good friend to have in case there is trouble." He nodded watching the two once more. "Do you want us to leave or shall we talk a little longer?" He asked wondering what they would say.
The mare lowered her ears on her head hearing the words that were said and felt like she was beginning to get somewhere. Even though she might have trouble with other family members down the line. She would have to reason with them as well. Perking her ears up on her head, she looked to Mikasi when she the gentle nuzzle. Should she nuzzle him back? Would be it weird if she did so? Swallowing hard to push away her nervousness, she gently nuzzled his cheek. Her expression didn't change nor did she seem awkward about it, she simply did something she would never have done in her entire life.
"I feel safe with him." She simply said after all the talking was done and there was nothing buy silence now. "Even if he is what he is, I don't judge him and I will protect him like he protects me. That is what friends do." She said with a stern voice before looking back to Mikasi with a small smile. "I'm happy your alright. I was worried my cousin did something to harm you." She herd a grunt from Gabriel knowing she stuck a thorn in his side again. Hearing her father's question, she paused before looking back to Mikasi. "What do you want to do?" She asked lifting her ears and feeling her stomach do flips over and over again. What was happening to her?

Mikasi nodded with his own quiet smile at her nuzzle and, words of acceptance. It made the stallion's heart soar. "I will..perhaps once he sees I mean no harm. We will speak stallion to stallion." He would need time to cool down, the other had really ruffled his feathers. "I will protect her with my life." Turning a bit the male moved to flip his pelts..thinking before he spoke again. "I would be honored to know you better sir. Astraea speaks of you often and, tells me stories that often include you." Grinning, his tail gave a few calm swishes..eyes shifting between the two. Perhaps now things would calm down a bit.

Gabriel gave a firm nod at the stallions words. He would have his talk with him at some point and when that time came, he would be ready for him. He wasn't afraid nor was he going to be all friendly during that meeting. "Well then come find me when you want to talk. I will be waiting." He told him and even though he didn't give him an exact location it wasn't hard to find a huge stallion. He was always walking around the dark deep woods and if this guy was here then he would bump into Gabriel at some point. "Now I must leave..." He mumbled giving a slight bow before turning and walking out of the area, fading into the darkness of the woods.
Hania Shen was about to leave himself before he heard the stallion's words making him stop all his movements. "I will stay for a short while. I have things to do and don't want to leave my herd area for too long." He nodded settling a little bit on the ground wondering what exactly the stallion wanted to know. He was very happy that his daughter was speaking so highly of him, but at the same time wondered exactly what she told him. "What is it you would like to know?" He wondered watching the two even more. The sight of them made him miss his lovemate Enitan and he would soon see him back in the herd territory.
Once Gabriel left, the mare felt more calm then she did before. It wasn't that she didn't like Gabriel, it's just that he was a bit of a hot head at times and she didn't want him harming her friend. "Yes I told him the story about the harpy and the kalona." She nodded to her father remembering that night and the fact that she cried. She still couldn't believe she shown that much emotion. It was so new to her and yet she was loving it. This stallion was changing her and brightening her world. Sighing lightly she lowered herself to the ground and got comfortable since she knew her father could talk someone's head off.

Chuckling softly Mikasi'Nell also settled, smiling when Rains Song began flitting about again. She gave the masked stallion a glance, then tapped once at said mask. Chirping with confusion. "Rain leave him be you nosey bird..get me the sharp bone and my kit." Rai puffed up but, did as he asked..returning with a small satchel. Dragging over the pelts he let Rain use her sharp beak to poke small holes within the soft downy rabbit's skin. "I'd enjoy hearing more about the world..my own life has been very sheltered up until now. Though, if it's too much trouble please tell me. I do not want to be a bother."

Hania Shen felt the tap to his mask making him tilt his head in confusion at first before realizing what the other was trying to say. "This mask? Well it's a family heirloom. I think it's something my mother and father gave me and my sister when we were young. I don't really know what it's for or where it came from, but that is what I believe. It's what I use to hide my face. I prefer to hide from the ugly of the world using the mask and only take it off when I feel it's safe." He told the stallion with a small nod wondering if it was a good time to take off the mask. Thinking it was, he lowered his head and left the skull slide off onto the ground revealing his gray and white muzzle. His pupil less eyes stared at the pair with no life, no emotion.
All he wanted to know was stories of the world? That was a simple request. He gave a nod and thought. He hadn't had to tell a story in a long time so he didn't know where to begin or where to even end up. "The reason behind why my family doesn't like anything that prefers meat over vegetables is because..of me. I was from the Blood Moon Carnival. I don't remember everything that happened there, but I do know me and my sister escaped. We were pursued by a walker. I do not know which kind or what he or she looked like, but we made it out of the ordeal alive." He said to him giving another nod and then a sigh. "I suppose they shouldn't judge just because of me and what I went through, but they can't really help it." He told him before looking out into the dark woods.
"You should travel as much as you can. Stories do nothing compared to actual traveling. I'm sure my daughter will take you somewhere or places that are most amazing. She knows some good places around here." He said to the stallion.
The young mare listened to them both speak, but remained quiet. She didn't really feel the need to say anything or talk. She simply watched and observed the two speak to one another feeling calm and at peace. She took a moment to look at Mikasi with a small smile on her face. She couldn't have asked for anything else in the world right now. Her father was speaking to her friend and she couldn't really believe everything was going well so far. Then again anything could happen. Her family was full of so many mysteries and so many personalities. Even if they accepted him, there was a good chance someone else wouldn't. "Father, I am very pleased to know you are so accepting of him. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have someone on my side." She nodded looking down for a moment then back to Mikasi. Her heart fluttered once more at the sight of him. What was this?

Humming happily Mikasi'Nell smiled at his song bird companion..watching as she hopped around with a tiny sharp piece of bone. A crude needle..essential and something he had found so amazing in the flock. It had taken months for Rain to figure the instrument out..and even longer to make the thin, long, strong strips of hide used to 'sew' things together. As he worked he listened with a fond look upon his face. "I am happy someone else is here that I might call a friend. Yes travelling is in my plans, though this place will always be..my favorite. It's almost like home." Rain worked rather fast with her beak and tiny feet. Soon the beautiful rabbit's fur pelts were tightly knit together in a large ish rectangular shape. "Thank you Rain. You are so lovely! I'll find honey for you soon." A bit nervous Mikasi delicately nosed the pelts to his dear friend. Wondering if she would accept them. "This is for you. For..your cave..to keep you warm when it's cold."

The older stallion watched the younger before lowering his head to the ground very slowly. The stallion was very appreciative of the company and the place they were at right now, which made him happy. "You are welcome to be at this place if you want. I don't think anyone comes around here other then my daughter anyway. It's hard to find a place of beauty in these woods, but she has seemed to find it." He mused keeping his eyed on the pair in front of him. He shifted on his side and tried the best he could to get comfortable, but it was nearly impossible. "If your bird wants honey there is a lot around these woods. You simply have to find it, but be careful. Those bee's can really hurt you if you get stung too many times." He watched them once more and smiled slightly at the gift his daughter received. This stallion was really caring for his daughter even if he didn't see it. It was so obvious to him, but to them they were probably blind. It happened and honestly, he wasn't going to ruin the moment for them by questioning it.
Pushing himself to his feet, he looked at the darkening sky and then back to the pair. "You care about my daughter a lot. Can you come over here for a moment Mikasi?" He asked of the stallion before walking away from the area a little bit. He wanted to ask him something in private and was going to be very fatherly about it.
Astraea listened feeling herself beginning to get a little sleepy. The night was coming and she really couldn't force herself to stay awake much longer. She then heard Mikasi speak, which only make her look up at him and perk her ears up. She looked over and saw the large pelt seewn together making her clench her teeth tightly together. She fought the urge to cry. He was so sweet and so caring, she didn't fully understand why. Why was he doing this for her? She never once received a gift from anyone and yet this stallion was going out of his way for her. "Thank you.." She managed to get out before rising to her feet and walking over to the pelt. She nosed it gently before hearing her father. This made her nervous and even though she trusted him to be civil, she didn't know what to expect really. She looked away and nosed the pelts once more, smelling the scent of the stallion against them making her smile. Her heart fluttered again and she still didn't understand it. Maybe it was time to have a serious talk with MIkasi. She had so many questions for him that needed answers.

Glad to see she had liked his gift, the male breathed a sigh of relief..though it was a short lived relief. When her father asked to chat privately Mikasi felt his anxiety return two fold. Still he stood back to his feet, strong and steady..a bit clumsy when he walked. His paws always made him so unbalanced! Puffing out a breath the stallion stood next to Hania..ears perked to hear whatever he wished to say. "Yes sir..I do care about her. She's...so..so different fro the mares I grew up with." It made Mikasi'Nell smile a bit, mind filled with memories of his slightly haughty and vain sisters. How the mares would preen and, raise their noses in the air..yes the flock had been filled with beautiful, strong mares but, it also held it's share of vain..snooty females. That ha been his other reason for leaving..why stay in a place where he had found no love? True love. To be more than someone who 'scratched an itch' for mares, or shared a mare with other stallions. No. The male longed to have what his parents had..a strong loving relationship. One of give and take. One where they had both picked each other mutually..there had been no 'hunt and capture'. "I hope you do not..see my gift as too forward." Head tilting he met the others empty gaze..hoping Hania had not found fault in the pelts. Mikasi had been very careful! He'd cleaned them meticulously. He'd rubbed them with herbs and searched the fur for signs of odd coloration. Only the best would be fit..and had been used.
