Carmen rocked back and forth on her heels for a few moments on the side of a street. Her olive tail was wafting around in the air as she watched carts going up and down the road. It was a typical morning near the docks. Everyone was in full gear. Many fishing boats had already sailed for their day or two out at sea. However, there was always a crew or two who left late when half their crew just got over last night's hangover.
She then looked over at some of the stalls that were setting up. She liked that this part of town was always so familiar. If life wasn't going very well for you, this part of town was always reassuring that some things never change. What did change sometimes were new and random boats that would come ashore. Groups of sailors telling tales about these remote islands and things that happened at sea.
Carmen didn't have to be at the courier's shop till later on. She decided to start the day by going over to Mrs. Clydesmith's fresh morning bread stall. Carmen asked her for a hot roll, sliced with a pat of butter on each side. After getting it, she stood there nibbling watching others go by. Would anything really exciting happen today?

The ocean giving the morning air the smell of saltwater, the sight of boats going out into the waters and returning with delicious food, it was all a reality here in Derya. She was still surprised it had been a month since she arrived to the harbor town from her hometown Taika. Going to the edge of the dock to the water, she used her magic a bit and brought and made smallish balls made from the water but them she threw them back in. She studied magic in Taika, especially water magic, and knew before she could become a real wizard she had to not only practice on the other elements, she had to strengthen her first magic; water magic. Standing back up, she dusted off her fur and watched the stalls, and saw a stall with grilled fish on a stick and went to go buy one.
Noticing a bread stall nearby, she saw a olive green Kyresue dressed up like a human would and thought that she was owned by a Hume. Walking over there as she nibbled on her fish, she stepped near the other female and smiled. "Hello there. Lovely morning, is it not?" She asked and took another bite out of the fish.

Carmen had been nibbling away. She had found a barrel with a lid on it that would support her weight, and so she was sitting there when a tall blue Kyresue approached the bread stall and then her. Carmen gave her a friendly wave with her free hand and a playful wink. After swallowing some more nibbles, she freely replied. "It's a great morning! Then again, Derya's weather tends to be pretty consistent. I mean, the only time it changes from this slightly overcast weather is when it gets stormy. Or.. the even rarer mega storms like the hurricanes or typhoons. Those are pretty rare though."
The olive toned Kry paused her rambling to nibble on her food some more. All too quickly, she was gone through her food. Her tail swished around feeling happy to meet yet another new acquaintence. This week was raining new kry friends. There was nothing wrong with that.
Carmen then looked her over. "Hey, look at you! Do you have a nice hume who takes care of you too? Did he or she give you your outfit? And, did you get those while diving off of a reef? Some sailors come to port here telling us about these reefs they swim in. They come back with shells like what you're wearing."

She chuckled softly as she finished off her meal, listening to the olive Kyresue and was intrigued by all the questions she was asking her. "First of all, for greetings, my name is Starii. Now for your questions; I have no Hume watching over me, for i am here on my own. This outfit was given to me because of how my fur was and my strong power in my, well, aquatic abilities i learned. And yes, these were hand picked from some divers that aren't from the mainland." She said and when she saw a garbage disposal, she tossed the stick and it got in. Stretching out a bit, her tail puffed up some and then it wiggled and ruffled a bit, like a dog's tail would, but only for a moment. The town was lively like the waves, the foods were delicious, and tonight she would spend her time at the water to practice more. About the question of her being cared for by a Hume like a pet would with its owner, it got her very curious about this female a lot more. "Tell me, do you have a Hume watching over you?" She asked, wanting to know if it was true or not.

Carmen looked at her with a most shocked expression. This was possibly the first Kyresue she'd seen in town who didn't have a hume owner. It was just one of those things most Kyr in this town took for granted as the way things were. Most if not all had masters, and most Kyr worked their days away. In fact, Carmen's life was fairly ordinary. Hers was slightly better due to a positive first few years with hers.
"Yes. Of course, I have hume. Most of ur Kyresue here do. I mean... maybe I am surprised as I'm not well acquainted with life outside of this town. I have to admit I've never left town limits. I have no memory of before my hume took me home. In fact, I've been known to call him my father sometimes because of the way he's taken care of me."
Carmen looked around at the Kyresue helping in all the food stalls up and down the road. "In this town, most Kyr are owned by humes. Most of us live here to do work and be assistants. I have often wondered what life is like beyond our borders." Her purple eyes glanced off towards the harbor where ships came and went.

"Well, not me at all. I originally came from Taika and being strong enough in my powers, i decided to visit this place first and eventually i have to move on to other areas to improve more before i officially become one." She said as she was referring to being a mage without actually saying. Paying attention to the bread stand, she felt hungry a bit more and bought a bread roll with four thick slaps of butter and sat back down, taking a bite out of it and her tail swayed as she ate. "I must say....I won't forget....This place when i leave....Because of the food....!" She said, taking breaks to eat more as the butter started to make her fingers buttery but she didn't care, she would buy another and then wash her hands and continue helping some fishermen with their work like she would do, which was nice because they were paying her more than they got.

Carmen watched this girl colored like both the sky and ocean waves. She looked at her sea shells and what Carmen guessed were pearls. Carmen wondered then asked her outright just to keep conversation moving while she pondered the information already imparted to herself by this new kyr in town.
"Taika huh? Did that take a long time to get here? I've always thought it might be exciting to take a trip away. I might have said that already, but the idea of an adventure is truly exciting."
Then, she paused while the other was getting more bread. Seeing her return with more food made Carmen's tummy rumble in request of more as well. Carmen didn't get more from the bread stand though. She went to their other side and got some riceballs on a stick.
She came back to listen to this girl's praise of the local food. "Oh yes! While life can be a lot of hard work here, and the weather seems almost always quite dreary. The food is incredible. People in this town love to eat and drink. There's been talk of arranging some kind of official town festival, but so far, I've never heard of anyone hammering down any dates or what it'd celebrate in particular."
Carmen then smiled friend-fully at the other as she nibbled on her rice balls. Yes. If there was one thing Carmen loved about living here, it was always food.
