Quite a pitiful sight compared to his future older self, with a patchy and very small mane only just starting to work its way around his neck and chest was Witu Majani. The darkness of the night worked in his favor with his darkish green body and the thick brush he moved through. He was supposed to be sleeping but a dream had awoken him and rattled him to such a point he just had this feeling he needed to get up and go. So he had snuck away from his family and now snuck through a thick group of bushes toward the complete unknown.
Urgency drove him on and somewhere deep in his mind a voice just screamed at him to hurry. He was coming closer and closer to the edge of the thick bushes and he could see more and more moon light with every step he made. Within moments he was at the edge and could see what was beyond the bushes he still remained concealed in. As he gazed out onto a vast expanse of grassland he didn’t see anything at first but as he continued to look he had a feeling that told him to look closer to the grass and that was when he spotted her.
She was almost invisible where she laid in the grass. Her face was scratched up and bleeding and her shoulders looked more like diced meat than the flesh of a white lioness. She had been smart enough to run when she realized there was no way to win her battle but it still didn’t help with the injuries she already had. She had run till she couldn’t run anymore and the blood stains on her white coat showed it. The blood coated her front legs and was splattered down her sides from the running.
As soon as Witu spotted her blood stained body in the grass he rushed out to her. Had his dream been referring to her? Was she really one of the battling lions he had seen in his dream? He had not seen their physical features just their silhouettes in the setting sun. All he knew was the male had fought off the female until she ran and he had gotten in several good hits. Could he have really been dreaming about her? He stopped a few feet from her and cleared his throat to get her attention. He didn’t want to scare her and get attacked himself.
Jasiri jumped and tensed her whole body when she heard a males voice clearing their throat close to her. Her head came up quick and her whole cheek was coated in red on her right side. Just under her eye there were four deep claw marks. She had been very lucky she had not gotten a claw to the eye. As she got a good look at the male just a few feet from her she pulled herself to her feet and turned to face him with her head down and her teeth bared. “What do you want?”
Witu was taken back by her reaction to his appearance. He had not expected such a reaction from her but after a moment he reconsidered it and realized had it been him he would have had been just as defensive to a stranger. “Um well I saw you were hurt and thought you might need some help. I’m sorry if I surprised you.” He replied as he lowered his ears back on the back of his head. He was just hoping she would not turn on him. He was only a fraction smaller than her but she had age and experience on him making his chances on winning in a fight not too good.
Jasiri was still for a few moments just staring at the male. She knew there were good males out there but after being beaten badly by one she was not quite inclined to allow the male the pleasure of helping her. She was still very angry at the male who had done this to her and she was inclined to take it out on this one. After a few moments she let out a loud huff and raised her body up to her full height despite the pain. She relaxed her face and removed all emotion from her face trying her hardest to keep the pain she was feeling off of her face. It took most of her concentration just to do that. “Well you thought wrong. I’m fine and I don’t need your help or anyone else’s. I was simply resting and now I will be on my way.” She stated and with her nose up in a very snooty way she turned her back to the male and walked away. However even trying her best she could not avoid limping as she walked away.
Witu just blinked with total surprise as the lioness practically snapped at him and walked away. He had never met such a rude lioness before in his life even while roaming the rogue lands. Well there was a first time for everything but it pained him deep down to see such a beautiful lioness pretty much cut up like a carcass and damaged in such a way. Life could be a cruel mistress but he couldn’t shake the dream now and the more he thought on it the more he wondered if he had been dreaming of her. Her rather vicious snap at him would make sense as the battle had been between a male and a female. The silhouettes had made that part clear and the male had beaten the female pretty bad before she had run. He sighed as he turned around and started back towards his family that was still sleeping.
Jasiri continued to walk but she kept her ears turned back toward the male so if he came after her she would know but after a few moments she heard nothing and stopped. She turned her head back in the direction of the male and spotted him heading in the other direction. She watched him for a few moments until he disappeared into the deep bush at the edge of the grasses. She had no idea where he had come from but his appearance had certainly been a complete surprise. However despite his kind behavior she just couldn’t bring herself to trust a male right now not after what had happened. All she had on her mind was revenge and anger. She had to find the one who had done this to her and return the favor. After all he had something dear to her heart that she wanted back. She didn’t have time for any distractions including her own injuries. She would just have to push through them.
