The lake looked calm. But Cirrus kept a good distance from it, staring at the still water with a haunted look in his eyes. His tea leaves had told him to come here; come back to where it had started... or rather, ended. Here, in this water, he had been drowned by a monster. LOLLI qAq super small response RP is go <3 I hope this is alright!

She was always nearby. The water was her home. Forever and always. Her eyes followed the form of a ghostly looking male and she was confused. There was never anyone here. There were the bones, but that was all the company she had. Well, that and the voices of her children. "Why are you here. Go away." She flipped wet hair out of her face and stepped closer towards the shore of her home.

Then death itself rose from the water. His eyes went wide and his knees began to tremble. "You." He breathed out; terror and hatred warring for top emotion. Could you be killed twice?

"I am me, yes." Her dead eyes passed over him. "Who are you. Why are you here." They weren't questions so much as demands. "Why do you appear afraid? Explain."

Some part of his brain was screaming at him to run, but his limbs wouldn't listen and his breath had caught in his throat and he was reliving the moment she had dragged him into the depths, once again feeling his throat fill with water, cutting off his desperate cries for help. Wait... wait... what? Who are you...?"You know who I am," he managed to gasp. "You... you're the one. You're the monster who took my life." A little voice in the back of his mind managed quite a bit indignation despite the fear, annoyed such a question had even been brought up.

Her face contorted and every hair on her body practically raised with anger. She took another step closer to the intruder. "I don't kill!"
Deep breaths fogged the air before her face as she looked at him. "Who are you?"

" You don't kill." He repeated, absolutely dumbfounded. The fear began to abate, to be replaced with a growing anger. "Once upon a time," he began, 'three children decided to go for a swim at the lake. While they were having fun a creature swum up below and grabbed them. One escaped and lost his foot, but the other two could not get free and were taken down into the water and drowned." He spat the words out as his body trembled. " Now tell me you don't remember."

She blinked at his words. Why was he upset? "Yes," she acknowledged. "But those are the bones. They're not real."

"Not real." He took in a long breath and tried to calm his nerves, but it was a hopeless endeavor. "You drowned me. You made my life a misery. I can't... I can't even take a bath without thinking about that day!" He cried, all his bitterness spilling out. "I deserve redemption, I deserve... an apology, something, anything. You should pay for the suffering you've caused."

La Llorona watched him carefully as he talked. First her smile was one of incredulous disbelief, then sheer cockiness, then back to disbelief. He had guts- she'd give him that. With that her entire demeanor changed from the "confused and broken" mask she put on to get people to leave her alone into her true self. Confident. Agile. Evil. She slunk out of the water and moved towards him. "Fine," she practically purred. "You got me. I drown the brats that think they can invade my space on a dare. I hold down insufferable weaklings in my waters until they stop moving because they thought it would be 'funny' to throw rocks at my head. Heck, I do it because I'm bored and it's fun." She curled about him and whipped his side with her tail. "I won't apologize to you, though. I didn't kill you. If I had we wouldn't be having this delicious conversation. Now, I'll ask again and this time I'll ask ever so sweetly- Who are you?" Ruriska AHH. Figured it out! hahahahahah

A tiny sob escaped him but rather than let himself scamper backwards, as he so dearly wanted, he settled instead for sitting heavily on the spot. This was the evil he remembered and it terrified him. Her touch was like the burn of poison through the skin. "You killed me," he protested, eyes staring straight ahead in abject horror. "Even if it didn’t stick. Even if I breathe now, you took something from me. And I…" Now he turned his head to face her, still full of fear but also determination. "I am the one who is going to stop you."

She watched him sideways and laughed as his finished. Every flinch, every desperately and poorly hidden sob, it was all like a sweet symphony. She moved away just enough to look him in the eyes. Dead. Just like hers. A snort escaped through her nose and she tossed her wet mane from her face. "Okay ..." her mind raced for a name she could place to his face for future reference. He believed so vehemently that she had murdered him as a child and she was going to use that. "Okay, my Little Ghost. You go ahead and think you can do that." It was flippant and dismissive. She stepped back into her watery home and sunk below until just her head bobbed above the surface. Her hair floating away from her on the water's surface. "Would you like to try now? Or are we finished here? I can't begin to tell you how much I'd love to lure an unsuspecting little one here just to show you how futile your efforts would be."

"I'm not... I'm not a ghost..." Cirrus muttered, his pale gaze following her return to the water. "My name is..." He stopped himself just in time. A name given freely could be used against you. "I'm sure you would." His shoulders sagged. The fear was ever present but now it was just background emotion. The main player was heavy sadness. Cirrus stood, shook his head at her and walked away. I'll be back. He promised to himself and to her. Preparations needed to be made and then she'd have to kill him again just to be rid of him. No other children would suffer under his watch. The doom he had been promised was upon him and he would meet it head on.

Laughter rose from the lake and over the shore as she watched him leave. All sorts of new things and ponies were bringing her entertainment these days. It was like Christmas just for her. "Ta-ta, my Little Ghost. Don't be a stranger!" She chuckled one last time before he was gone from her sight, and then she sunk into cold depths. Ruriska Ahhhh, thank you so much for this! <3 I thought it best to throw in one last jab before he was gone completely. Just to wrap things up neatly. I hope that's okay.
